“Since when did you learn to dunk? That’s awesome,” Yuuya tells him. He can’t help it; he’s impressed and feels the swell of admiration that also came with envy. But towards him, it always seemed to be like that. People called it sibling rivalry.

“Basketball practice, basketball practice,” Kiyoshi tells him triumphantly. “Practice is getting crazy intense these few weeks. The seniors are stepping down and try-outs will begin in three weeks. Your brother is going to get into first string, I’m telling you.”

Yuuya picks up the ball and resumes his dribbling.

“How about some one-on-one?”

His brother smiles, and seeing him take position in front of the hoop, Yuuya hunches lower and furrows his brows in concentration.

He takes off immediately, keeping a steady rhythm on the ball. Kiyoshi stretches his arms forwards, ready to attack at the first sign of an opening. His brother is good, but it’s not as if he was an amateur either. He manages a fake, smirks at the sound of annoyance Kiyoshi made – it was his hot-headed passion to excel that brought Kiyoshi so far in academics and extracurricular activities after all; being in Shuutoku’s second string was a feat by itself, if the things his brother told him were anything to go by – and successfully maneuvers around Kiyoshi. Well, if all it took was hot-headed passion to succeed, Yuuya has it too.

He launches himself up and swings his arm hard, the goal getting closer and closer in sight. But then before he knows it he’s already falling and the ball just kinda swishes through air and dribbles off the court lamely.

It was a freaking air ball.

“Oi Yuu, what the hell was that.”    

“Ahh shut it.”

“Puah! Did you just try to do a du –”

“I slipped okay, I SLIPPED. I’ll get the next one in for sure!”

“Hey, your timing couldn’t be more off than that – puahah”

“Sorry sorry, I’m not laughi – pfft.”

Damn stupid overachieving older brothers, he thinks in annoyance as he goes to retrieve the ball.

“But your form is good, Yuu,” Kiyoshi manages after a death glare later. “I’ll teach you. Hey, have you decided which club you’ll join next year at Shuutoku?”

“Who knows.”

“Come join the basketball team. It’ll be a riot!”

“Nah, you’ll will be there too. It’s awkward.”

“What kind of a stupid reason is that, I’ll hit you! …Well, you do what you want, but I’m telling you it’s gonna be real fun.”

He dribbles the ball absently in his hand.

“Yeah…hey, hurry teach me how to dunk.”

“Yosh!”

i love the midorima/kise parallels and how they're the two teikos that go to teams that feel like family, teams that they'd shed blood sweat and tears for, and i do think both of them would hesitate to go pro or even play in college because it won't be the same as those glorious three years in shuutoku/kaijou

please give characters some grace when your interpretation is different from the authors intent lol like fujimaki didnt set out to realistically depict mental illness and bullying with midorima and shuutoku 😭 for shame the shuutoku seniors arent bullies this is supposed to be comic relief theyre annoyed w midorima for being arrogant and disrespectful its not that deep

It's def funnier if Shin-chan is the weirdo in his family but in addition to that, there's a slight difference in energy between someone who grew up in a family of weirdoes and someone who grew up an outlier in a loving and indulgent if somewhat bemused family of normal people, and Mido for me has the latter vibe.

your points are correct. think about the way shin-chan acts; he expects accommodations and indulgences because he'll deliver results. he's doing his best. it's how he was raised.

それで、今は、5日なったら、ちまきを食べるそうです。

さらに、ハーリーもするそうです。

沖縄では、ユッカヌヒー（5月4日）になったらハーリーをしますよね。

沖縄文化と中国文化は似ていますねー。
