Finrod & the Edain

Absolutely in love with this depiction of Finrod and Bëor! They stand on each side of the “gulf that divides [the] kindreds,” each reaching out of his own to meet in Light. Finrod standing amidst the stars of the Eldar, Bëor standing before the rising sun, “Vása, the Heart of Fire, that awakens and consumes; for the Sun was set as a sign for the awakening of Men and the waning of the Elves.”

I’m still in awe of how well @bluebeardcrypt rendered this from my rambling description 😂 Absolutely gorgeous.

For @silmarillionepistolary day 1, daily life!!

I didn’t really know what I wanted to do for this challenge until I had this idea of life in The Silmarillion, but told from Finwë’s perspective through his sketchbook!

These drawings are from shortly after the Elves awake at Cuiviénen, and are getting used to being alive. On the top left are two Elves sharing some fruits (and having some fun). The Elf with the bow is a sentinel who keeps watch over the settlement, because as shown above, there is something Strange in the woods that keeps the Elves alert. Then in the bottom left is a silver-haired weaver that Finwë has taken a shy liking to…

I’m really happy with how this page turned out, and I’m hoping to continue this series with more drawings from Finwë, and I hope you like them!
