Simon Benoit was way too confident and charming for his own good. Every time you saw him at the rink, he had a crowd around him, effortlessly grabbing attention with his easy smile and quick wit. There was no denying he was funny and, more importantly, attractive—those sparkling grey/blue eyes and that charming grin had definitely caught your eye more than once. But his cockiness? That was something you just couldn’t get past.
It wasn’t that he was unkind or harmful. Actually, he was quite the opposite. Simon always had a kind word for the fans, took time for autographs, and rarely seemed to lose his cool—well, except during the intense hockey matches, but that’s on the ice, so it doesn’t really count. Generally, you found all hockey players overly confident, with Simon being the most of all. His swagger, the way he seemed so sure of himself on and off the ice, was just a bit too much for your liking.
Yet, despite all this, there was something about him that you couldn’t ignore. Maybe it was the way he laughed, a deep, genuine sound that made you want to laugh along with him. Or maybe it was the way he looked at you, with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine—paired with his sweet French-Canadian accent when he spoke. Whatever it was, it was enough to keep him on your mind, even when you had tried to write him off as just another cocky hockey player.
Simon, on the other hand, had been hooked on you even before you volunteered for the Easter Seals Skate event. He had noticed you before, always at the rink, often involved with some kind of MLSE event. But it was at the Easter Seals event that you really caught his attention.
Your smile was wide and infectious, lighting up the room and drawing people towards you like moths to a flame. Your laughter, a sweet melody, echoed through the air, breaking even the most serious faces into grins. And the way you were with the children and the rest of the group—so caring, so patient—had amazed him. He watched as you knelt down to their level, listened to their stories, and cheered them on with genuine enthusiasm. It was clear you weren’t just there to volunteer; you genuinely cared.
Every time Simon saw you interact with the kids, his admiration for you grew, and he couldn’t help but be drawn to your warmth and compassion. There was just something about your demeanour, a quiet strength and kindness that stood out amidst the usual hustle and bustle of the rink. And from that moment on, you were never far from his thoughts.
Especially after the event, later in the evening, when Simon coincidentally met you at a small local coffee shop. He noticed you sitting by the window alone, hands wrapped around a steaming mug, lost in thought. So, gathering his courage, he approached and asked if he could join you. And to his delight, you smiled and gestured to the empty seat across from you.
While you were initially hesitant to get closer to the hockey guys, who often exuded overtly confidence, it was comforting to have a familiar face to share such an emotional day. The truth was, these children and people held a special place in your heart, having grown up with family members facing challenges. So, when the chance came to combine your love for hockey with your dedication to this group of people, it was an easy decision to get involved.
And as the conversation flowed effortlessly, you found yourself suddenly opening up to Simon. You shared stories about your childhood, your passion for helping those in need, and your experiences working in communities where children needed care. You even talked about your failed engagement, something you rarely discussed, and how it had shaped your current path.
Simon listened intently, his eyes never leaving yours. He was genuinely interested, asking questions, and offering insights that made you feel understood and appreciated. And as the coffee date turned into more coffee dates—days turning into weeks—you found yourself eagerly anticipating these informal meetings. You and Simon fell into a natural rhythm, meeting up often and sharing laughter, inside jokes, and a connection that surpassed mere acquaintances.
Furthermore, the flirtation between you two was undeniable. Each encounter left you both buzzing with anticipation and desire. The playful banter, the lingering touches, the way his gaze would linger on you just a moment too long—it all added to the mounting tension. And before long, you were both on the edge of bursting, the sexual attraction almost overwhelming.
___
However, what had seemed to sparkle soon faded one night after a victorious win, when Simon noticed you talking to a man near the rink's exit. From a distance, he observed your expression change from initial politeness to frustration and anger. And by the time the conversation ended, your smile had vanished, replaced by a tight jaw and a steely glare in your eyes. Concerned, Simon hurried through his post-game routine, eager to find out what had upset you.
And as soon as he finished in the locker room, he sought you out. Worry etched across his face; he asked what had happened. With a heavy sigh, you explained that the man was your ex-fiancé, and the encounter had dredged up painful memories, leaving you frustrated and irritated.
Simon's heart didn’t just ache for you; it burned with a fierce protectiveness. He wanted to erase every hurtful word, every painful memory. So, leaning in close, his voice low and determined, he whispered huskily, “I’m going to fuck you so hard, you’re going to forget that guy's name”.
You felt a shiver down your spine as his breath tickled your earlobe, his words and growl causing you to clench your thighs together. Though you hadn’t yet shared that kind of passion with him, you knew you were longing for it. Maybe even more than he did.
And that night, Simon's promise became reality. The moment you stepped into his apartment, the tension between you exploded into a frenzy of heated kisses and urgent touches. Simon's hands explored your body, pulling you closely as he memorised every curve, every sensation of your skin under his fingertips. Clothes were hastily discarded, forming a trail leading to his bedroom, as his lips only parted from yours when absolutely necessary.
Simon tasted exactly as you'd imagined. His kisses were intoxicating, a blend of sweetness and raw desire that made your head spin. Every touch, every caress, ignited a fire within you that only he could satisfy. And completely lost in the moment, you surrendered to the overwhelming passion that had been building between you for so long.
As you entered his bedroom, Simon gently guided you onto the bed. His eyes, filled with lust and need, gazed down at you as he hovered above, his warm breath against your skin murmuring words of desire and reassurance. His hands moved purposefully, exploring every part of you, massaging your breaths as he elicited gasps and moans that fuelled his own arousal.
And he took his time, relishing each moment and sensation. His mouth traced a path of fiery kisses down your body, causing you to arch and writhe beneath him. And when he finally paused at the inside of your thighs, locking eyes with you with a knowing smirk, the anticipation became almost unbearable. Keeping steady contact with you while his breath got closer to your most intimate core, wrapping his strong arms around your thighs, it felt like a floodgate had opened.
His sensual motion with his tongue overwhelmed you with pleasure, each kiss, each lick bringing you closer and closer to the edge. Clutching the sheets on either side of your head, you whispered Simon's name in breathless pleas, your body responding in ways you had never felt before. His skilled mouth worked wonders between your legs, teasing your clit and probing your entrance with his talented tongue. Then adding his long fingers to the mix, he effortlessly slid them inside you, gently stretching you with each determined pump. And it didn't take long before you clenched around his digits, letting your first orgasm wash over you.
"Oh yes," you moaned loudly, eyes shut tight as your back arched, feeling the rush take over, your toes curling and your breath catching in your throat.
Simon felt immensely satisfied with the moans and reactions he evoked from you. And as he continued to explore your sensitive flesh with his mouth, he found himself unable to restrain his own desire. Your honey was so delicious to him, and he eagerly delved deeper, his beard becoming soaked with your juices. Then curling his fingers inside you, increasing his pace, he drove you to another climax, pushing you to the brink of overstimulation.
Your body trembled beneath him, waves of pleasure crashing over you, leaving you breathless and yearning for more. And Simon's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he watched you unravel under his touch. Every gasp, every moan fuelled his desire to pleasure you further, while his own throbbing member begged for attention.
So, with a determined growl, he shifted position, withdrawing his fingers and mouth from your heat to capture your lips in a passionate kiss. The taste of your essence mixed with the heat of his mouth created a heady combination that left you dizzy with desire. Simon's hands roamed your body once more, touching and teasing until you were left trembling beneath him, completely undone.
"Please," a whisper escaped your lips, fingers gripping firmly in his dark hair. "Please, I want to feel you." And your plea only spurred Simon on.
Kneeling on the mattress, he positioned himself between your legs, leaning over your form. And the anticipation was almost unbearable as his cock stood proudly and ready, droplets of pre-cum glistening. You could feel it pressing against you, and you instinctively arched your hips, silently urging him to fill you. Simon's gaze locked with yours, silently promising what was to come, before he then guided the tip of his length to your entrance, pushed inside and filling you completely.
"Oh," you moaned again, hands gripping onto his shoulders, nails lightly creating indentations in his skin.
It felt heavenly. And as Simon began to rock his hips, the sensation was exquisite—a perfect blend of pleasure and connection that left you breathless. He moved with a rhythm that spoke of experience and care, his thrusts deep and steady, each one bringing you closer and closer to another peak.
Yet, a part of you wanted more. Needed more. And he was eager to give it to you.
"Ben," you whispered breathlessly, a moan mixed in. "Turn me around."
It was a position you had always enjoyed, and one that gave Simon the power to exert force.
So, with a grin on his handsome face, he withdrew his length, used his strong arms to spin you around, lifted your hips, and entered you again. The new angle was perfect, allowing him to penetrate deeper, each thrust more powerful than the last.
Supporting yourself on your elbows, you felt the intensity growing, Simon's pace quickening as he gripped your hips, his fingers pressing into your flesh. The room was filled with the sound of skin against skin, mixed with your moans and heavy breaths of exertion. You felt completely at his mercy, your skin glistering in sweat mixed with his, each movement sending waves of pleasure through your body.
Your hands clenched the sheets beneath you, back arching as you pushed back against him, matching his rhythm. The connection between you was electric, every motion synchronised, every sensation heightened, as Simon's name escaped your lips in a mantra of desire and need.
Then leaning forward, his chest against your back, Simon's lips brushed your ear as he whispered, "You feel so fucking incredible. I'm never letting you go."
And his words, combined with the relentless pace, quickly pushed you to the brink once more. The pleasure built to an overwhelming peak. And with one final, powerful thrust, you shattered around him, waves of ecstasy crashing over you in an intense orgasm.
"Oh yes!" you moaned louder than expected. Simon had pressed every single one of your buttons, sending your mind into ecstasy.
As you tightened your muscles around his sensitive shaft, Simon followed suit, letting out a deep moan as he released his milk inside you, his body trembling with the intensity of his climax. He collapsed against your back, both of you breathless and spent, enveloped in the aftermath of your shared passion.
Then lying there together, still connected, Simon placed gentle kisses along your spine, his touch tender and soothing. A profound sense of contentment washed over you, the weight of the past lifted and replaced by the warmth and connection you felt with him.
Turning your head, you met his gaze, a soft smile playing on your lips. "I think it worked... I think I've already forgotten his name."
Simon chuckled, wrapping his arms around you, and pulling you close. "Good," he murmured in a deep growl. "Because you're mine now."
Drifting off to sleep in his embrace, you knew this was the start of something beautiful, something worth cherishing with all your heart.

WHAT WE SEE (Trailer) from I AM HERE on Vimeo.
A film by many. A film about our internal feelings during physical isolation. A document of our time – and how it mirrors who we once were.
It all started with a post on Instagram asking our followers to participate in a collaborative project. The result? People from across the globe sharing their anxieties, hopes and dreams through a series of intimate online interviews. A deep dive into private thoughts amplified by feelings of physical isolation. Candid connections through disconnection. In addition, we received dozens of remotely directed videos of people breathing underneath plastic bags, which helped in the finalization of this piece.
Interestingly enough, a lot of the footage was shot exactly one year before nationwide lockdowns happened in 2020. Individual isolation in our modern world was a concept I felt society at large was already experiencing, but never could we have imagined the immense impact of a simultaneous global scale lock down.
All interviews were recorded online in April 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
All other scenes were shot in Los Angeles / San Francisco in April 2019, and in Berlin and a variety of global living-rooms in April 2020 as well.

Even though I will prefer an animated adaption over a live action for The Lunar Chronicles, I can't help but imagine how the cast could look like if it actually happened. So, here's my fancast:
Linh Cinder: Lily Chee, 18. Mixed race of Chinese, Malaysian and Irish descent. She reminds me a lot of Cinder, specially her expressions.
Tumblr media
Prince Kaito: Song Weilong, 22. Chinese.
I can totally see an entire nation falling for him and his messy black hair.
Tumblr media
Scarlet Benoit: Caitlin Blackwood, 21. British and Irish descent.
I tried to find a French actress for Scarlet, but I couldn't find one that actually looked like Scarlet or was around the age of the character. So I chose Caitlin because I feel that she matches a lot how the character is described in the books.
Tumblr media
Ze'ev Kesley (Wolf): Josh Heuston, 25. Sri Lankan and Australian.
I kind of chose Josh because of the eyes. He reminded a lot of Wolf also in his appearance, but like Emilie said: The eyes!
Tumblr media
Carswell Thorne: Froy Gutierrez, 23. Mexican American.
My first pick as Thorne was Jeremy Shada, but after digging a little bit I found that Froy literally looks like the Thorne fanart. And giving that the character is from California, I thought that Mexican American was a little bit accurate.
Tumblr media
Cress Darnel: Brec Bassinger, 22. American.
Brec round face reminds of Cress, and she is also like 1.57 m, which is similar to Cress height and description in the books.
Tumblr media
Winter Hayle: Diamond White, 23. American.
Everytime that Winter was described in the books, I remembered Diamond. So I had to choose her.
Tumblr media
Jacin Clay: Danny Griffin, 24. British.
That posture is the one of a Lunar Guard. Also, I think he can pull off the grumpy sarcastic character.
Tumblr media
Iko: Lovie Simone, 23. American.
I didn't liked the new adaptation of The Craft, but I do loved the cast. Specially, Lovie Simone. So, she needed to be Iko, cause I also love that character.

sooo if alw and the phantom team came to you and said celina, we are doing a new phantom anniversary performance + proshot. we need you to cast it but only with phantom vet and favorites; how would you do it? Who would you give cameos to? outside of casting, what would you want them to do differently than the 25th anniversary concert? :)
Gonna be honest, if ALW and co. came up to me, my first conversation might be something like this.
Me to Charles Hart, Richard Stilgoe, and the ghosts of Hal Prince, Gillian Lynne, and Maria Bjornson: I am so honored to have been contacted by you. Just know that I love what you created and respect each and every one of you so, so much.
Me to ALW: I know we’ve had our differences. I have called you several bad names in the past. I still don’t agree with you on everything. But thank you for your 2020 redemption arc.
Me to Cameron Mackintosh: Absolutely nothing I said above applies to you. Why are you even here. We don’t want you here. We don’t need you here.
Now as for casting... I’m sure you’ve heard me talk occasionally about the four most popular Phantoms, Christines, and Raouls in the phandom, so if we really want to cast based solely on that, it might look something like this:
Phantoms: Michael Crawford, Gerard Butler, Ramin Karimloo, Ben Lewis
Christines: Sarah Brightman, Emmy Rossum, Sierra Boggess, Anna O’Byrne
Raouls: Michael Ball, Patrick Wilson, Hadley Fraser, Simon Gleeson
This assumes that I do not have necromantic powers (though I am apparently talking to ghosts, so hmm...), otherwise I would raise Steve Barton from the dead to perform. But honestly, I would pay big money to see that cast. The Raouls will be fine, the Christines probably fine (a little iffy on Brightman’s voice, but at least Rossum has acquired a lot more training). I just really, really want to hear whatever Gerard Butler sounds like now against Michael Crawford’s light tenor, Ben Lewis’s dark baritone, and Ramin Karimloo’s untrained-but-he-can-fake-it voice. Come on. Imagine it.
But if I was to cast an actual stage cast... I would probably try for a mix of actors from older and newer productions, the flagship productions vs. international productions, long runners with newcomers, gearing towards people who have made a bit of name for themselves in theatre. So maybe something like:
Phantoms: John Owen-Jones, Hugh Panaro, Alexander Goebel, Henk Poort, Saulo Vasconcelos, Osamu Takai, Hong Kwang Ho, Ivan Ozhogin, Peter Joback, Anthony Warlow, Jonathan Roxmouth
Christines: Gina Beck, Ali Ewoldt, Luzia Nistler, Joke de Kruijf, Giulia Nadruz, Sae Yamamoto, Kim So Hyun, Tamara Kotova, Emmi Christensson, Ana Marina, Claire Lyon
Raouls: Danny Whitehead, John Riddle, Timothy Breese, Peter de Smet, Fred Silveira, (realizes I don’t know many Japanese Raouls), Son Jun Ho, Evgeny Zaycev, Anton Zetterholm, Alexander Lewis, Matt Leisy
Carlotta: Claire Moore / Rebecca Caine
Firmin and Andre: Edward Staudenmayer and David Benoit
Piangi: Uh... Larry Wayne Morbitt
Madame Giry: ... Jacinta Mulcahy?
Meg: ...Kelsey Connolly
And yes, I had to be selective, so don’t anybody start coming at me going, “But where’s Peter Karrie / Earl Carpenter / Franc D’Ambrosio / any other actor???” This list is long enough, life is about hard choices, etc. And yes, I included the the restaged tour by bringing on its managers AKA the best thing about the tour and most deserving of a chance to be in the original. I envision the different actors each taking on a different scene (don’t ask me to break down which one, I haven’t thought that far ahead) or even singing some of them together, and then having one massive sing-fest at the end.
I’m going to leave off the cameos, but as for what I’d change from the 25th anniversary, I’d probably just bring back some of the things it omitted, such as the Mirror Bride and the chandelier crash. I’d also eliminate the use of projections, which just made the stage seem too bright and empty.
And there you have it, my absolute mess of a concert.

Lupin Part 2: What to Expect
https://ift.tt/2MkPGVl
This piece contains spoilers for Netflix’s Lupin.
Netflix’s compelling French crime comedy-drama Lupin ended Part 1 on a hell of a cliffhanger. Yes, there’s Assane Diop’s (Omar Sy) son Raoul (Etan Simon) getting snatched by Pellegrini’s cleaner Leonard (Adama Niane) in the Maurice Leblanc-obsessed town of Étretat, though honestly that had been telegraphed throughout “Chapter 5.” The real stunner is when Officer Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab), perhaps the only person whose Lupin fandom rivals Assane’s, tracks down the gentleman thief and addresses him as, “Arsène Lupin?”
And that’s where Part 1 ends, with two adversaries—who might well become allies—finally meeting on the beach while fellow fans in top hats, capes, and monocles venture out to the Hollow Needle, not knowing the potential tragedy that could unfold in Étretat. Where can Lupin go from here?
Thankfully, Netflix has already confirmed that Part 2 will premiere later in 2021. While we wait for an exact release date, we’re going back over the dangling plot threads and pondering Leblanc-related clues to make our predictions for where the second season could go.
The Hollow Needle
The most obvious lead would appear to be The Hollow Needle, Leblanc’s 1909 novel set at Étretat; Assane and Claire (because of course he made her read the book) challenge each other with quotes from it in “Chapter 5”:
Downstream from Étretat, the maidens’ room Under the Fréfossé fortress, the hollow needle
The Normandy rock formation is said to hide the secret treasures of the kings of France, from precious stones to queens’ dowries. In The Hollow Needle, Lupin’s main rival is Isidore Beautrelet, boy detective, who catches on to the mystery of the hollow rocks—though he is aided by a Great Detective known (for copyright reasons) as Holmlock Shears. In Lupin, Guediera would seem to embody a mashup of the two: He’s got Sherlock Holmes’ instincts for deduction, yet he’s treated by the other French police as juvenile for basing all of his investigative theories on the Lupin books. Having gotten no support from his fellow officers, and now confronted with the man who embodies his favorite literary character, Guedira will likely be tempted to help Assane rather than arrest him.
Their most pressing priority will be safely rescuing Raoul from Leonard, or possibly Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre), if he gets him back to Paris before Assane and the others catch up to him. In the book, the Hollow Needle eventually houses Lupin’s most valuable possessions, as revealed by Assane and Claire teasing each other by reciting the treasure map:
Two feet on the letters in stone Measure 19 fathoms Turn the cross Climb onto the 44th step Then, on the 357th… You will find Arsène Lupin’s treasure
Yet this takes on an ominous glow when you consider that Raoul would be considered Assane’s treasure, and that Leonard has proven himself to be a vicious assassin. After all, Assane humiliated him twice in “Chapter 5,” between locking him on the train and framing him as Paul Sernine to the French police. Furthermore, when “Chapter 1” flashed back to the day that Babakar (Fargass Assandé) allegedly killed himself, a young Assane saw Leonard—who clearly made eye contact and smiled—before he got the news that his father had hanged himself in his cell. Which is to say, Leonard has been part of the Pellegrinis’ cover-up from the beginning, and will stop at nothing to tie up loose ends. I would not be surprised if he were tempted to deviate from the Pellegrinis’ plan to personally hurt Assane through Raoul.
Assane and Clair
On a personal level, there’s unfinished business—in the present and the past—between Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and Assane. While Claire has spent all of Part 1 suspicious of Assane’s business, preferring not to know how he’s getting his alimony, that lack of knowledge led to Raoul’s abduction. She didn’t have enough time in “Chapter 5” to process the confirmation, via Leonard’s presence, that Assane has gotten mixed back up with the Pellegrinis. In fact, when he does reveal that it’s related to Babakar’s death, Claire challenges him that he has never spoken about his father in 25 years, so she actually knows the least. Hopefully Assane will finally let her in on what happened to Babakar and the justice he’s been trying to enact.

By Natalie Zutter
Of course, I can’t help but imagine that even if Claire is sympathetic to his vendetta, she will be less so when she inevitably finds out that he and Juliet were carrying on an affair 14 years ago. Even though Assane ended things before Claire told him she was pregnant with Raoul, the fact that his revenge scheme has him interacting with Juliet will probably tank any trust he regains with Claire.
With Lupin having teased that Juliet and Assane mean more to each other than just adolescent flirtation, but not revealing to what extent, it seems likely that they’ll move toward a romance as adults. Whether that’s Juliet turning on her abusive father and imprisoned mother, or Assane seducing her as a way to infiltrate the family home once more, we’re bound to see a lot more of Juliet in Part 2.
As for the elder Pellegrinis? At this point, I don’t expect Anne Pellegrini (Nicole Garcia) to redeem herself; the reveal that she paid for Assane’s schooling seems to be the extent of her apology for what her family did to Babakar and to him. But a showdown between Assane and Hubert Pellegrini seems all but guaranteed. Part 1 had Assane interrogating members of Pellegrini’s inner circle and trying to gather incriminating information, only to be foiled by the rich man’s standing and connections each time. But Assane has become a gentleman in his own right—moreso than Pellegrini, frankly—and will likely find a devastating way to confront him face-to-face.
Louis Valmerás
The Hollow Needle sees Lupin take on yet another alter ego, Louis Valmerás, and actually “go straight” and retire from a life of crime with his new wife, Raymonde de Saint-Veran, who knows nothing of his past. The final showdown with Beautrelet and Holmes has a shocked Raymonde learning the truth about her husband’s past and ultimately taking a bullet for him; a grieving Lupin manages to escape, alone.
Depending how closely Lupin Part 2 decides to draw from this tragic Lupin installment, things could go very poorly for Assane Diop. Pellegrini has proven that he has no scruples about disposing of people in his way, like poor disgraced journalist Fabienne Beriot (Anne Benoit) after her brief return to glory. I’d like to think that Lupin is not the kind of series that would kill off a child, but we have to consider the source material.
That said, despite all of the tense stakes that Part 1 established, let us not forget that Netflix’s Lupin is a comedy-drama. I don’t doubt that there will be personal fallout from Lupin’s actions, but I trust that we will get more intricate heists and clever disguises in order for the gentleman thief to evade his enemies once more.

How do you think Lupin Part 2 will end?

Classic Review: Royal Rumble 2006
This is definitely a "spur of the moment" idea for me to review. I have no idea what brought me to wanna watch and review this pay-per-view. As I'm watching the intro while typing this I dont remember any of the feuds or big matches going into this event so I've got an open mind going into the pay-per-view.
Kid Kash (C) vs. Funaki vs. Jamie Noble vs. Nunzio vs. Paul London vs. Gregory Helms
This match feels so weird. A match name so complicated and long I didn't even bother including it in this review, its pretty much just a six man free for all with the first person to score a pinfall or submission winning the match. To me it kinda just feels like around this time the cruiserweight title picture didn't have much going on but WWE still wanted to include all these guys so they were just all put together last minute to make this match. A few quick notes, Jamie Noble looks a bit odd to me in any attire other than jean shorts and it's insane to me how Paul London wasn't better utilized. Hes easily my favorite in this match and arguably the most talented. That being said, Paul London did attempt a shooting star press off the top rope into the crowd of opponents and he kinda just missed everyone and landed face first on the outside of the ring. Another quick note, does anyone actually remember Kid Kash or anything he did in WWE? I knew of him before watching this but other than this match I can't name anything he did during his time with the WWE. Gregory Helms ended up winning by pinning Funaki. The cruiserweight championship, a smackdown exclusive title was won by a Raw superstar. Not only that but he kinda had the lowest amount of impact in this match. He hit a neck breaker on Paul London off the top rope but other than that he was kind of a nonfactor. Last quick note, on commentary they mentioned that Gregory Helms used to be the Hurricane. That's crazy to me, that's like if WWE referred to Stardust as Cody Rhodes. Weird way to start the show. Not boring, not overly exciting, just... weird.
Odd Rant: I dont typically speak on backstage segments in these reviews but watching Vince McMahon interact/touch on the "Divas" was pretty uncomfortable to witness, I feel the further I go back to do these reviews, the more common stuff like this is going to be and I'm not looking forward to it. But in this same segment we got to see a young Randy Orton and that's always great.
Mickie James vs. Ashley - Special Referee - Trish Stratus
Ah yes, the storyline of unrequited love between Mickie James and Trish Stratus. Not too sure what role Ashley plays in this storyline but I'm guessing it isn't because she was super over with the fans at the time considering the crowd was pretty silent as Ashley made her way to the ring. I was confused seeing Trish be the special referee of this match since at the time she was the womans champion. Just odd to see a champion at a ppv with her championship but not defending her title. Mickie James gets the win and immediately tries to celebrate with/hug Trish but was just met with Trish not wanting anything to do with her. Neither Mickie or Ashley were really.... the greatest wrestler at this point in their careers to say the least.
Odd Rant: its increasingly getting more uncomfortable to watch Vince interact with the "Divas". If we're going to keep cutting here between matches I'm pretty worried how far these segments will go
JBL vs. The Boogeyman
The man who ate worms for real for the sake of the character who gave me creeps as a kid taking on the corrupt wall street millionaire. Wrestling has certainly given me plenty to talk about over the years. I cant even imagine how people who faced the Boogeyman planned for these matches. "Oh you're going to spit a worm into my mouth at this point in the match, okay sounds good". The Boogeyman was more entertainer than wrestler. A guy that wasn't very diverse when it came to in ring talent and was very reliant on his gimmick to get him over. Boogeyman wins in a pretty uneventful match. His finishing move was a pump handle slam and just one was enough to put away JBL which is odd because I've seen this man bleed buckets in an I quit match against John Cena so I guess Boogeyman and his pump handle slam was just that damn strong.
Royal Rumble Match
Weird that the selling point for this pay-per-view takes place less than half way through the event but like I said, I don't know any of the matches going into this show so maybe they just have a big main event planned. As I'm watching I'm now a little more than half way and this certainly isn't a very star studded rumble match. Out of the 17 entrants so far the only notable superstars have been Triple H, Rey Mysterio, Big Show, Kane, Chris Benoit and Bobby Lashley. Not even surprising returning legends its just been some mid carders who aren't too great and jobbers like Simon Dean. RVD now comes in at number 20, hopefully this is a sign of things starting to pick up. Matt Hardy is now being dry humped by Viscera in the middle of the ring and before I could even finish typing that sentence Viscera eliminates Matt Hardy. I just felt that was a notable highlight to add. Now that I've seen all the entrants I feel like I can now fully discuss the match since I already know the winner. Rey Mysterio wins if you don't know. The lack of star power in this match caused really legitimate possible winners to be a bit of a short list. It's very disappointing that it took the death of Eddie Guerrero for WWE to give Rey Mysterio a title run. A pretty forgetful title run but a title run nonetheless. The match wasn't really much to talk about until we hit the final five. I do wanna add that I appreciate that this match was also treated as a Raw vs. Smackdown event. I mean, it was everyone for themselves but on commentary they frequently added who in the match currently was on which brand, which makes sense because Raw and Smackdown are competing against each other and whenever theres a match where superstars from both brands are present, on commentary at least, it should be treated as a competition. Just something I wish WWE would do more of today, I hated when Raw was just one big "supershow" I prefer the brand split, but that's a different topic for a different time. Overall the match did feel like a bit of a chore to get through but in the grand scheme of things I did appreciate the story they told of Rey Mysterio overcoming all odds with the deck stacked against him to make good on his promise that he dedicated a victory to his best friend, Eddie Guerrero.
Edge (C) vs. John Cena
John Cena came to the ring in what Joey Styles called a "Spaceship Catwalk" and I cant really think of a better name for whatever this was so I'll just go with that. Cena isn't even the champion and he got a wrestlemania style special entrance and Edge didn't. It was such an odd touch, could've went without it but at least it looked cool I guess. Edge was such an absolute heat magnet, he knew what to do and what to say at all times to make the crowds boo him it was a bit of disappointment to see Edge drop the title in this match. I understand that in the long run Cena winning was probably the smarter move but if their plan all along was to send Cena to wrestlemania as champion I wish they didn't tease us with an Edge title run. I mean, in 2006 everytime Edge won the title, he beat Cena to get it and everytime he lost it, it was to Cena. Edge had a nice title run as world heavyweight champion on smackdown years later but in relation to this event, that smackdown title reign felt like it was an eternity away. If nothing else this WWE title run turned Edge from a midcarder to a main event talent and he was deserving of it. All in all, I just wish Edge had a more lengthy run with the title instead of losing it in a month after being the first superstar to cash in money in the bank.
Kurt Angle (C) vs. Mark Henry
Listen, I get it, Mark Henry is a cool guy, but he isn't really an amazing athlete. Maybe its just me but I've never been able to get behind anything Mark Henry has been apart of, besides the hall of pain storyline but doesn't have for another few years. I don't know the story going into this match or the full smackdown roster at the time but I just feel like this match shouldn't have main evented. After seeing that this was the match they picked to go on last I wish they would have just saved the royal rumble to be the main event, they would've sent the crowd home happy with Rey Mysterio winning. I know we got a surprise Undertaker return at the end and that made people excited but looking back, Undertaker vs. Mark Henry at wrestlemania wasn't really all that great. Kurt Angle is fantastic but he cant carry everyone to a good match. Angle retains but other than that there just isn't too much to say about this match, it was slow paced and just didn't pack any real punch for me.
I cant really make a pros and cons list for this event, nothing was overwhelming entertaining and nothing was offensively bad. It was just a pretty "meh" event. Rey Mysterio won the royal rumble and Kurt Angle did an interview that made me laugh a little bit before his match and those are the highlights for me. The real lowlights I guess would be just how underwhelming this event was and how bland everything felt. Say what you want, I love womans wrestling today but watching the story progress between Mickie James and Trish Stratus was mildly entertaining too. I'm really reaching here.

Cast Of The Movie Knives Out
Tumblr media
The new murder mystery movie Knives Out is filled with famous actors many audiences already know and love. But there's one face in the cast who might not be as familiar to fans. For now, at least. In Knives Out, Johnson will play Richard Drysdale, the husband to Jamie Lee Curtis' Linda. Recently, the Tin Cup actor went on The Deep Cut podcast and raved about his experience on set. Knives Out features a massive ensemble cast including Daniel Craig in Knives Out, Christopher Plummer, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette.

The new murder mystery movie Knives Out is filled with famous actors many audiences already know and love. But there's one face in the cast who might not be as familiar to fans... for now, at least. Ana de Armas, who plays Marta Cabrera in Knives Out, is a total standout in the film, and has audiences excited to see more of her (which they will).
In Knives Out, De Armas' Marta is the protagonist and caretaker of the famous and wealthy author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). When Harlan dies suddenly and gruesomely, Marta is forced to deal with his greedy extended family — and a big secret of her own — while a team of detectives investigate the whole situation. Even among the big, stacked cast, which includes Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Katherine Langford, Chris Evans, Toni Collette, and more, the relative newcomer stands out in her dynamic role.
With Knives Out as well as another major upcoming blockbuster, it's been a busy time for de Armas. 'I’m not complaining, because it’s taken me a long time to get here, and I’m living my dream,” de Armas told the Los Angeles Times. 'This is exactly what I want to be and what I want to do — but gosh, I’m tired. I feel like I repeat that a lot. But I’m tired. I think 2020 will be the year for me to sleep a little bit more.”
The actor might be going to sleep in 2020, but that'll be the year audiences will definitely be seeing a lot more of her. Here are the key facts you need to know to get ready for what's shaping up to be the Year of de Armas:
1. When She Arrived In Hollywood, She Didn't Speak English
De Armas was born in a small town just outside Havana, Cuba, in 1988. At age 18, she became a TV star in Spain, and she then moved to the U.S. in 2014 to take on Hollywood. She didn't speak English when she arrived, so she did months of intensive language studies before landing roles in movies like War Dogs and Blade Runner 2049.
2. She Initially Turned Down 'Knives Out'
The character description for de Armas' character Marta simply said she was a 'pretty Latina caretaker,' and, unhappy with that description, she decided she didn't want to be involved with the project. She explained to The Hollywood Reporter:
Getting an email that described the character like that — without any more information or a script attached because it was high-profile and secret — just really didn’t speak to me. So, because of the character description, my imagination immediately went to a portrayal that was not necessarily very positive or exciting in relation to Latin culture.
Tumblr media
Luckily, she learned Marta was much more nuanced. She said to THR, 'When I finally read the script, I realized that the description didn’t fit at all because Marta is so much more than that.”
3. She's Co-Starring In A Film With Ben Affleck
De Armas and Affleck are playing a wife-andohusband duo in the upcoming thriller Deep Water. The movie is expected to come out toward the end of 2020.
4. She's The Next 'Bond Girl'
James Bond is known for having a badass woman by his side in each movie, and de Armas is going to play the part in the upcoming No Time to Kill. Unlike some Bond films of the past, however, the Los Angeles Times reports there will be 'a very different dynamic' between 007 and his co-star this time around.
Knives Out is in theaters now.
By/Nov. 18, 2019 6:18 pm EDT/Updated: Oct. 19, 2020 12:01 pm EDT
After directing critically-acclaimed films like Brick, Looper, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson turned his attention to the murder mystery genre, giving us the star-studded Knives Out. The movie currently sits at a lofty 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, which is quite the accolade, and Vox's Alissa Wilkinson describes the flick as 'a delightful Agatha Christie-style whodunnit made for 2019 America.'
Perhaps the film's most obvious asset is its wildly talented cast, consisting of former superheroes, super villains, super spies, a few legendary Hollywood superstars, and everything in between. But while watching a murder mystery movie, the only thing you want to be trying to solve is who the killer is, not who the actor or actress playing the killer is and what other films you've seen them in before. So, before you watch the movie, here's a handy who's who for Rian Johnson's whodunnit, Knives Out.
Daniel Craig steals the show as Detective Benoit Blanc
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade, chances are good that you're familiar with Daniel Craig and his prestigious body of work. The English actor's breakout role was that of the iconic 00 Agent, James Bond, in 2006's Casino Royale. It was a role that, thanks to multiple sequels (four to date), landed him on Forbes' World's Highest Paid Actors list in 2015. However, the handsome Brit is far from a one-trick pony. Over the years, Craig has excelled in a vast array of genres, ranging from dramas like 2002's Oscar-winning Road to Perdition to comedies like 2017's Logan Lucky. He's certainly come a long way from playing a love-struck stableboy in Disney's mid-'90s medieval stinker, A Kid in King Arthur's Court.
In Knives Out, Craig plays Benoit Blanc, a private detective brought on to investigate the apparent suicide of a famous crime novelist. Craig was actually the first actor to sign on to the project, and he was apparently flattered to have been offered the part. As he explained to Cinema Blend, 'I hadn't read something like that (screenplay) before, and I was just over the moon that he (Johnson) offered it to me.' With a lead like Craig, it's no mystery why so many critics are crazy about Knives Out.
Chris Evans stars as Ransom Drysdale
Agatha Christie lovers ... assemble! Although the MCU's Captain America obviously won't be making an appearance in Johnson's murder mystery, Chris Evans, who's played the star-spangled Avenger several times since 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, will be. The Boston-bred hunk has flexed his dramatic ability in films like Before We Go and Gifted, but not as often as he's flexed his impressive physical physique in action flicks like Push, The Losers, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
With an apparent affinity for playing 'the good guy,' Evans has played not one but two different superheroes, first starring as the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four franchise. His role of Ransom Drysdale in Knives Out, however, will be quite the opposite. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Evans explained, 'I'm usually tasked with playing guys who are a little more noble, and this guy is a little bit more vile. It's fun.'
Toni Collette is Joni Thrombey in Knives Out
Although it didn't exactly light up the box office, 1992's The Efficiency Expert, starring acting legends like Anthony Hopkins, Russell Crowe, and even a young Ben Mendelsohn, marked the film debut of Toni Collette. In the decades to come, the Australian actress would enjoy a highly successful career, most evidenced by her massive award-season love.
Cast Of The Movie Knives Out
In 2009, she was cast as the lead role (or, perhaps more appropriately, lead roles) in Showtime's United States of Tara. As Tara, a mother coping with dissociative identity disorder, Collette earned wins at both the Golden Globes and the Emmys. On the big screen, the actress has excelled in dramatic comedies like Little Miss Sunshine and About a Boy. However, she's perhaps most recognized for her work in a pair of iconic horror flicks: 1999's unforgettably twisty The Sixth Sense and 2018's disturbingly dark Hereditary.
In Knives Out, the decorated actress plays Joni Thrombey, a 'lifestyle guru' (drawing obvious inspiration from Gwyneth Paltrow and her company, Goop) and daughter-in-law of murder victim Harlan Thrombey. When speaking to Deadline, Collette showered the murder mystery's script with praise, saying, 'It was all in the writing. In reading it, it just kept opening up and changing, and it was so swift, and so smooth, and so surprising.'
Katherine Langford appears as Meg Thrombey
What Katherine Langford's filmography lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. At the ripe age of 20, the young Australian actress landed the role of ill-fated high school student Hannah Baker in the Netflix smash series 13 Reasons Why. Langford stole the show as Hannah, even earning a Golden Globe nominee for her performance. Her newfound stardom landed her parts in two movies in 2018, The Misguided and Love, Simon.
Although she'd previously worked with some fairly big names, such as Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel, Langford was admittedly quite starstruck when seeing her Knives Out co-stars in action. Talking with Yahoo! TV, Langford said, 'I get so in awe of everyone. ... I've watched all of these people.' While sharing the screen with A-listers like Daniel Craig and Chris Evans must've been incredible, the young starlet, who plays Meg Thrombey in the whodunnit, went on to specifically give praise to her fellow Aussie actress. 'Toni Collette, who plays my mom in this film, she's a legend in her own right. To work a lot with her is amazing, and to work with everyone is amazing.'
Knives Out features Michael Shannon as Walt Thrombey
Michael Shannon has quietly evolved into one of the most well-rounded actors in Hollywood. The two-time Oscar-nominated actor has appeared in a plethora of movies over the past 20 years, ranging from action blockbusters to dramatic thrillers. The first movie he ever popped up in was actually 1993's classic comedy, Groundhog Day, but he's really made much more of a name for himself in serious roles, such as the mentally disturbed John Givings in 2008's Revolutionary Road.
You might also recognize Shannon from parts he played in films throughout the 2000s, including Vanilla Sky, 8 Mile, and Bad Boys II. He's given notable performances for director Jeff Nichols in movies like Take Shelter andMidnight Special, and on HBO's Boardwalk Empire, he portrayed Nelson Van Alden, an agent for the Bureau of Prohibition. He even went toe-to-toe with Henry Cavill's Superman as General Zod in 2013's Man of Steel.
In Knives Out, the Kentucky-bred actor plays Walt Thrombey, the new CEO of his father's publishing house. In an interview with Slash Film, Shannon mentioned how great it was to work with Rian Johnson on the set, saying, 'I had a blast, man, that was so much fun. ... Also, Rian is a super, super sweet guy.' Having a sweet boss must be a major plus on a movie production.
Ana de Armas is playing Marta Cabrera
Although her official acting debut came in a Spanish film in 2006, Ana de Armas' Hollywood career really started in 2015, starring alongside Keanu Reeves as Bell in the dark thriller Knock Knock. After that, she played Miles Teller's girlfriend, Iz, in War Dogs, and then the holographic Joi in the trippy Blade Runner 2049.
Although she's starring alongside Daniel Craig in 2020's new Bond film, No Time to Die, the gorgeous Cuban starlet first shared the screen with him in Knives Out. As Marta Cabrera, the recently deceased Harlan Thrombey's live-in nurse, de Armas is one of the prime murder suspects. But while de Armas admittedly had a wonderful experience on set, shooting in Boston had one particular downside. As she explained, 'It was my first time in Boston. It was freezing, for a Cuban especially.' The actress may have been cold, but is she actually Knives Out's cold-blooded killer?
Jamie Lee Curtis is showing up as Linda Drysdale
Jamie Lee Curtis is truly an American treasure. The California-raised actress has appeared in so many films and TV shows through the years that it's hard to keep track of them all. If you're a horror fan, you probably know her best as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's Halloween franchise. However, she's so much more than a scream queen. Curtis has starred in action classics like True Lies, kids' movies like Freaky Friday, and a slew of feel-good comedies, including My Girl and You Again.
With an ensemble cast as star-studded as that of Knives Out, it's hard to imagine any one person really standing out. However, when speaking to Entertainment Tonight, director Rian Johnson had a clear cut MVP: Jamie Lee Curtis as Linda Drysdale. The award-winning actress would show up early to set every day, even when she wasn't scheduled to be in the scene. 'I was like, 'Jamie Lee Curtis is here! Film her!' She got into scenes she wasn't even supposed to be in — just because she was there!' Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
Knives Out stars Don Johnson as Richard Drysdale
Tumblr media
Detective James Crockett has certainly aged well. Don Johnson, who won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the snazzily dressed, undercover detective in the classic '80s TV series Miami Vice, remains a big name in Hollywood, still popping up in movies while well into his 60s. Since 2010, the Missouri-born actor has starred in a few Western-themed action flicks, such as Machete and Django Unchained, as well as a couple of romantic comedies, including The Other Woman and Book Club. He's also been an apparent go-to-guy for HBO, starring in both Eastbound & Down as Kenny Powers' father, Eduardo Sanchez, and more recently as police sheriff Judd Crawford in Watchmen.
In Knives Out, Johnson will play Richard Drysdale, the husband to Jamie Lee Curtis' Linda. Recently, the Tin Cup actor went on The Deep Cut podcast and raved about his experience on set. He also disclosed that he was able to see an early screening of the film, and it blew him away. 'Actually it's so good that I am super proud of it.'
Christopher Plummer is playing Harlan Thrombey
Canadian actor Christopher Plummer solidified his status as an acting great by taking home an Oscar for his portrayal of Hal, a closeted gay man, in 2010's Beginners. With acting credits dating back to the 1950s, Plummer has enjoyed an exceptionally long and fruitful career, and it's still going strong. In 2001, he played Dr. Rosen in the Oscar-winning A Beautiful Mind, and in 2017, he played J. Paul Getty in the Oscar-nominated All the Money in the World. He certainly has a knack of being attached to prestigious projects, going all the way back to The Sound of Music.
In Knives Out, Plummer is playing Harlan Thrombey, a famous mystery author who's found dead. In the film, Harlan is tended to by his live-in nurse, Marta, played by Ana de Armas, and it sounds as though the two performers really developed a strong relationship on set. When The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Plummer at TIFF, the Barrymore actor was asked, of all the people in attendance at the film festival, who he would most like to be stuck in an elevator with. And the man replied, 'Apart from my wife, I think Marta (de Armas), our beautiful lady who is such a good actress. ... That would be very pleasant.' It's safe to assume that most guys would agree with Plummer's response.
Jaeden Martell is taking on the role of Jacob Thrombey
He may look young, but don't make the mistake of thinking Jaeden Martell isn't already the man. He's not even 20 years old yet, and he's already starred in a couple of major movies and TV shows. Before playing Bill Denbrough, the leader of the Losers' Club, in 2017's It, the young star shined alongside Bill Murray in 2014's St. Vincent, and he also played Johnny Masters in Showtime's often raunchy drama, Masters of Sex. (He was also the title character in The Book of Henry ... although the less said about that particular film, the better.)
Cast Of The Movie Knives Out Full
In Knives Out, Martell plays Jacob Thrombey, the internet-trolling son of Michael Shannon's Walt. Interestingly enough, this isn't the first time Martell and Shannon played father and son on the big screen. In 2016, the duo co-starred in the thrilling sci-fi mystery, Midnight Special. It must be nice to have a father figure like Shannon on set.
Movie Knives Out Cast
Lakeith Stanfield will try to solve the mystery as Detective Lieutenant Elliot
Life has been especially good for Lakeith Stanfield over the past ten years. The California-raised actor's first big break was getting cast as Marcus in Short Term 12, alongside Brie Larson. He then was cast as Jimmie Lee Jackson in 2014's Oscar-winning Martin Luther King Jr. biopic, Selma. Since then, his career has really caught fire. Although he's appeared in popular films like Get Out, Sorry to Bother You, and Netflix's Death Note, perhaps his most recognizable role is that of the philosophical stoner Darius in Donald Glover's comedic drama Atlanta. Then again, he also portrayed a young Snoop Dogg in 2015's Straight Outta Compton, so you be the judge.
For Knives Out, Stanfield is playing Lieutenant Elliot, a detective investigating Harlan Thrombey's death who initially believes it to be a suicide. However, as more clues begin to surface, his character starts to suspect something more sinister is afoot. The award-winning actor will, much like the audience, try to solve Rian Johnson's whodunnit.

Riki Lindhome will be appearing in Knives Out as Donna Thrombey
Who Is The Cast Of Movie Knives Out
Riki Lindhome is undoubtedly one funny chick, but she doesn't limit herself to just comedy. Although she and fellow comedian Kate Micucci make up the comedy duo Garfunkel & Oates, Lindhome's first on-screen part was as Mardell Fitzgerald in Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby. After that, she landed the recurring role of Juliet in the sixth season of the Gilmore Girls, as well as parts in films like My Best Friend's Girl, Changeling, and The Last House on the Left.
Cast Of The Movie Knives Out Cast
In Johnson's murder mystery, the Emmy-nominated actress is playing Donna Thrombey, the wife of Michael Shannon's Walt and mother of Jaeden Martell's Jacob. In addition to working with some major movie stars, Lindhome has certainly enjoyed the movie's many twists and turns, telling Yahoo! Entertainment, 'You see a lot of movies, and they'll have like one big twist. With Knives Out, there's just one after the other after the other. ... By the end everything's woven together in this sort of masterful puzzle.' Count us in!

(fiction)

“Strength does not come from physical capacity - it comes from an indomitable will” - Tattoo on Simon Benoit’s chest.
_
Simon Benoit was nothing short of extraordinary. At least in your opinion.
Being part of the Toronto Maple Leafs community meant you were no stranger to the inner workings of the hockey world and the turmoil it brought every single day. From game nights filled with cheers and adrenaline to quiet moments of support and camaraderie, you'd seen it all from your perspective as a social media content creator.
And when Simon Benoit joined the team for the 23/24 season, he immediately caught your eye.
You weren't entirely sure what it was, yet there was simply something about the Quebecois defenceman that intrigued you from the start. Perhaps it was his effortless grace on the ice or the way his determination shone through every move. Or the way he battled at every opportunity, not accepting when things weren’t right or fair. Regardless of what it was, you found yourself drawn to him in a way that was both exciting and intimidating. His large frame, both in height and in width, made you seem like a small mouse compared to him, even in your heels. Yet his demeanour was nothing but friendly and soothing, which quickly evaporated all the harsh exterior.
But as much as you wanted to get to know Simon better, it wasn't easy, as his focus on his career and athletic performance left little room for anything else. You rarely crossed paths outside of the arena, and when you did, he was usually surrounded by teammates or lost in his own thoughts.
Despite the challenges, you couldn't help but admire his dedication and drive. Watching him on the ice, in the weight room, or on the training field, it was clear that he poured his heart and soul into every game and anything he did, leaving nothing behind but sweat and determination. And while it made getting close to him difficult, it only added to the allure.
Every day, you found yourself stealing glances whenever he was on the ice, marvelling at his skill and tenacity as you captured pictures and videos of the team for the social media platforms. And when the opportunity arose to interact with him, even in passing, you treasured every moment, no matter how fleeting.
Yet deep down, you knew that if you wanted to truly get to know Simon Benoit, you'd have to find a way to break through his walls and connect with him on a deeper level.
It wouldn't be easy, but then again, nothing worth having ever was.
_
Navigating the workflow with the Leafs wasn’t always easy, but most of the time you felt like you had it all under control. You knew you were good at your job, and most of the staff members of the company recognised your work and effort.
You weren’t particularly shy by nature, nor were you the most extroverted person. You had your small, close group of friends and occasionally went out. However, your work took much of your time, especially when the managers wanted you to travel with the team, so you didn’t exactly party or live the crazy life in the city. Instead, you kept your life rather chill and easy-going, focusing on various ways to improve your skills and just enjoying being in your early to mid-twenties.
And to the team, you were simply a nice person, hanging around and making funny videos from time to time. You didn’t particularly spend much time with them outside of hockey, yet you felt like you had a nice bond with most of the players and their partners.
In a way, you were content with your life. Sure, it was busy and sometimes overwhelming, but it was also fulfilling and exciting. The only person you were truly interested in knowing more about was Simon.
Naturally, you made efforts to insert yourself whenever the media team wanted to interview him, but you also wanted to maintain an air of nonchalance. So, you played it cool.
Well, as cool as possible, until it came time for his turn in the Blue Room session.
You found yourself unable to suppress your smiles and giggles at each of his responses. He effortlessly delivered humour, exuding relaxation and authenticity. It was akin to witnessing a more intimate side of him, one unmasked by his athletic prowess. And as he spoke, you hung onto his every word, enchanted by his charisma and genuineness. It was in these moments that the desire to know him beyond the confines of the hockey rink intensified.
And to your surprise, Simon seemed to take notice of you too.
"That's a cute laugh," he remarked suddenly as the session drew to a close, causing you to glance up from your phone, taken aback by his boldness.
"Oh... erm... thanks," you replied, a hint of nervousness creeping into your voice. "I mean, I've always hated it..."
Your heart raced as you found yourself in close proximity to the defenseman, the two of you lingering amidst the team's clean-up efforts after his milk-guessing antics.
But to your relief, Simon didn't seem to pick up on your nerves. Instead, he simply chuckled.
"Why hate it?" he inquired, his charming French-Canadian accent adding to the allure.
You couldn't help but blush. "Oh, I don't know," you admitted softly. "It just feels a bit... loud and weird..."
"So?" Simon chuckled again. "You should embrace it. It's cute."
You were left speechless. Simon Benoit found your laughter cute? You felt like a schoolgirl, standing there, blushing under his gaze as he offered a compliment.
This wasn't like you. You were usually confident in your interactions with guys. You knew you were pretty good-looking, had a pleasant demeanour and got along well with most people. Yet, this hockey player had you feeling flustered, your stomach aflutter with butterflies, and your mind in a whirl.
You wanted to say something. Perhaps even suggest grabbing coffee together. But before you could gather your thoughts, Simon was called back to re-join the team's training session. And as he flashed you a friendly smile on his way out, a twinge of disappointment washed over you. Had you just missed your chance?
_
Luckily, that wasn't your only chance.
Although conversations between you and Simon remained limited post-Blue Room filming, there were frequent exchanges of glances and smiles in the hallway or aboard the plane.
Whenever your camera was in hand, Simon would flash you a smile, his gaze lingering a tad longer as he greeted you with a warm "hi." You reciprocated the gesture. It was a subtle dance of silent, discreet flirtation, or perhaps not entirely flirtatious, yet there lingered an unspoken connection beyond mere friendliness.
And while on the road, shortly after Simon inked his three-year contract with the Leafs, you were on the brink of discovering if there was indeed something more between you.
Amidst the whirlwind of travel chaos and the players' hectic schedules, you settled into your seat on the plane, laptop in front of you, attempting to unwind for the flight ahead.
Meanwhile, Simon couldn't help but steal occasional glances in your direction. Your focused expression, the way you nibbled on the end of your pen while engrossed in your laptop screen, didn't escape his notice, eliciting a smile from him.
You were so incredibly beautiful, and your laughter was nothing but contagious. Yet Simon knew he had to tread cautiously. He didn't want to come across as the new guy making moves on the women of the team. Moreover, his primary focus was on his career. Despite its ups and downs, his love for the sport remained unwavering, and he was determined to prove himself and relish every moment.
So, he attempted to maintain a slight distance from you. Tried, being the operative word. You seemed to be around all the time, and he couldn't ignore the subtle sparks you ignited within him. No matter how hard he tried to keep his focus solely on the game and his professional trajectory, there was something about you that made it challenging to keep his distance. Perhaps it was your laid-back demeanour or the genuine warmth that exuded from you.
Nevertheless, Simon found himself drawn to you, even as he strived to uphold a level of professionalism. In the tight-knit world of hockey, he was wary of stirring up any unnecessary drama within the team. Yet, as the flight progressed and the hours slipped away, he couldn't shake the notion that perhaps, just perhaps, there was something worth exploring between the two of you.
The match against the Bruins proved to be a challenge, resulting in a disappointing 4-1 loss for the Leafs. However, redemption came swiftly with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against the Montreal Canadiens two days later.
The locker room reverberated with cheers following the intense game, where the captain had sealed the win with the third goal. Yet, amidst the jubilation, it was the smiles of a certain defenseman that caught your attention.
Though Benoit hadn't seen action on the ice tonight, his joy mirrored that of his teammates, his eyes occasionally finding their way to you at the back of the room as the managers urged the players to simply enjoy in their triumph.
Instead of heading straight home to Toronto, the team had opted to stay overnight, given the upcoming days off. So, while the players ventured out for some well-deserved fun, you decided to retreat to the hotel to tackle some work.
It was nothing too taxing, just some photo editing from the evening's events. You even brought your laptop to the bar, indulging in a glass of white wine while putting the finishing touches on the social media content.
However, suddenly, a voice broke through your focused reverie.
"Hey, I thought we were supposed to be having fun, not working," Simon chuckled as he sidled up next to you at the bar.
Startled by his sudden appearance, you nearly choked on your drink, momentarily at a loss for words. "Oh, erm... yeah, I just needed to, um, wrap up some media stuff," you managed, flashing him a sheepish smile.
"And you're drinking while working?" he teased, his laughter filling the air once more.
"Gotta make work a little more enjoyable, right?" you quipped back with a playful grin, before shaking your head slightly. "By the way, I never got the chance to congratulate you on the contract!" you steered the conversation towards a more professional and friendly tone, prompting Simon to casually lean against the bar, his smile unwavering.
"Oh, yeah, thanks! It's... it's good to have that one in place," he replied, his tone carrying a hint of relief.
"I can imagine," you replied gently. "Dealing with contracts always seem to be quite the challenge."
"Definitely... it's been a bit nerve-wracking, but also exciting," he echoed your soft tone.
"So, I guess it's time for everyone to get to know more about Simon Benoit then," you attempted to maintain a light-hearted tone.
"Yeah, maybe... so, if you ever feel like it, you can just... interview me, or something..." he chuckled softly.
"Maybe I will…” you smiled back.
There was a brief pause as you silently pondered why he was suddenly engaging in this spontaneous conversation with you.
"Wait, why are you here, Benny? Shouldn't you be out with the boys?" you finally asked.
"Oh, I was, but we were just a few who wanted to head back early before things got too monkey like," he explained, his smile serene as he stood close, the scent of beer subtly lingering around him, his tall frame nearly matched your seated position on the highchair.
"Monkey-like?" you couldn't help but laugh softly.
"Yeah, you know, some of the single guys wanted to flirt with girls, so... Cap and a few others preferred to head back and chat with their partners instead," he explained.
You smiled, relishing the closeness and the opportunity to converse with him like this. Yet, his words lingered in your mind. "And you... you have to call your... girlfriend too?" you asked, your voice soft and tinged with a hint of hesitancy, not wanting to appear too nervous or disappointed by his potential response.
Simon met your gaze for a moment before shaking his head gently. "Nah, no girl waiting for me at home," he replied simply and casually, prompting a soft sigh of relief and a smile to form on your lips.
"But you didn't feel like flirting with anyone else either?" you chuckled lightly, a blend of playfulness and nervousness.
Simon remained calm and collected, offering you a soft glance before speaking softly. "Why would I bother flirting with strangers when there's a perfectly beautiful girl right here in this bar?" he said, his tone laced with flirtation, a smile playing on his lips. His words sent warmth coursing through you, leaving an undeniable impact.
He was smooth, undeniably so. And you found yourself falling for his charm.
Desperate to maintain your composure, you took another sip of your drink, then smoothly licked your lips as you considered your response. "You certainly have a way with words, don't you?" you remarked, a playful smirk gracing your features. “Knowing how to impress a girl…”
"Well, that depends... is it working?"
As you glanced at the dwindling contents of your glass and then back at him with a suggestive smile, you felt a surge of desire.
"Maybe..." you replied coyly, your heart racing with anticipation. “Yes…”
When you first joined the club as a content creator, getting involved with players was the last thing on your mind. In fact, you had mentally resolved never to entertain any romantic entanglements with the team. And so far, it hadn't been a challenge. While the players were undoubtedly attractive in their own right, there had never been a spark with any of them. That is, until Simon joined the team.
So, downing the last drops of your wine, you rose from your seat, gathering your phone and laptop before making your way to the lift, with Simon following closely behind.
Nothing was rushed. It was all happening at a rather slow pace as neither of you wanted to seem too eager. Yet the build-up tension between you was evident. The longing for each that had been lingering for months was hanging thick in the air. And it wasn’t until you were stopping outside your hotel room door, you locked eyes with his.
Pressing your lips together, you struggled to find the words you longed to speak. "I, uh... I've got my own room... I mean, I'm not sharing it with anyone..." you murmured softly.
And that was all the encouragement Simon needed. Closing the distance between you, he captured your lips with his own, pressing you gently against the door in a fervent kiss, igniting a passion that had been simmering between you for months.
It was everything you had imagined and more. The kiss was perfect—gentle yet passionate, fulfilling the fantasies you had long harboured. Simon's hands on your jaw, his fingers delicately threading through your hair as he drew you closer, felt like a dream. His tongue, a subtle yet insistent invitation, prompted your lips to part, eagerly meeting his in a dance of desire. There was no mistaking the mutual longing that enveloped you both in that moment.
Managing to locate your key card amidst the haze of desire, you gently pushed open the door, inviting him into your small hotel room.
The dimmed lights cast a romantic glow, heightening the intimacy as you both explored each other's bodies with slow, tender caresses. Simon's size and strength made it effortless for him to lift you into his arms, carrying you to the bed without breaking the connection of your lips.
And your kisses remained fervent as you slowly undressed each other, shedding shirts and trousers until you were both clad in nothing but underwear. Heels were kicked aside, forgotten in the heat of the moment, leaving you lying on your back in lacy lingerie with the hockey player hovering above you.
"Are you okay?" he asked softly, a hint of concern in his voice, mindful of any boundaries that might exist between a hockey player and an MLSE employee.
But in that moment, you didn't care about titles or roles. You were simply two individuals consumed by desire. So, with a light smile, you nodded, giving him the silent permission to continue, letting go of any rationalisations or inhibitions that might have held you back.
And just like the night had been so far, his touch was tender, each movement deliberate as he slowly removed your lacy knickers, exposing your core to him. His fingers traced along the skin of your thighs, sending shivers of anticipation through you as they inched closer to your centre. And when his digits finally made contact with your sensitive flesh, you couldn't help but gasp, your fingers finding his strong arms for support.
Simon then gently pleasured you, and small moans escaped your lips, betraying the wonderful feeling coursing through your body. And iIt didn't take long before those moans turned into sweet cries of ecstasy as his fingers pressed against your entrance, stretching you as they eased their way inside.
His fingers, much like the rest of him, were long and thick, and you couldn't shake the awareness that your colleague was just next door as Simon stimulated your walls, his movements deliberate and eager to bring you pleasure. Yet, your soft moans and cries only spurred him on, each pump of his fingers eliciting a delicious sensation as he curled them upwards, seeking out that particularly sensitive spot.
"Oh, fuck," you exclaimed as he hit the mark perfectly, his movements growing quicker in response to your cries, your fingers digging into his skin in a desperate grip. "Yes... right there..."
And he understood his mission completely, pumping his fingers with precision to drive you towards the brink of climax. And as he kept on going, his determined motions sent waves of pleasure coursing through your body, causing your vision to blur as you arched your back and reached the pinnacle of ecstasy.
"Oh, yes..." you panted, gasping for air as the rush of pleasure washed over you, your toes curling as you reached your high.
Gently the man above you then pumped a few more times through your orgasm, as he simply enjoyed  the wetness he had caused between your legs, before withdrawing his fingers.
"Shit, every sound you make is so fucking amazing," Simon murmured under his breath, his hardness pressing against him, aroused by the stimuli he had provided you. Your moans, much like your laughter, were nothing but music to his ears.
So, without hesitation, he crawled back to discard his own boxers, before covering his length with the condom you tossed him.
"Gotta be responsible, right?" you smiled, flashing him a flirtatious, confident wink as you took pride in being prepared. And Simon simply chuckled in response, returning to the mattress and kneeling between your legs, before he then pulled you close to him, wrapping your legs around him as he lined the tip of his cock with your entrance before slowly pushing in.
It was no secret that Simon was a large man. Standing at 6'4" and weighing 205 lbs, he was undeniably substantial, and his hard member only reflected that. He knew he had to go slow, taking his time as he controlled the movements of his hips perfectly from this angle.
So, with a firm grip on your thighs and hips, he gently stretched your walls inch by inch, eliciting soft sounds of pleasure from you, causing you to grasp onto the pillow behind you as he reached your depths.
"Oh yes, ma puce," Simon hummed under his breath, relishing in the tightness of your smaller frame around him, before he then began to pull out and push back in, settling into a slow and steady rhythm to ease into the experience.
"Mmm, oh," you moaned softly, the sensation of his movements sending waves of pleasure through you, your legs trembling in response to his deep penetration.
The pace was a perfect blend of slow and steady, each thrust filled with deep passion. You found yourself panting for air as he gradually increased the intensity, feeling your muscles adjust to accommodate his size.
Yet, though he tried to maintain control, Simon couldn't deny the overwhelming pleasure coursing through him as your bodies melted together. With each movement, you pushed him closer to the edge, fuelling his desire for more.
However, resisting the urge to push harder and faster, he instead leaned over your petite form and captured your lips in a hungry kiss. He then took a strong hold of your body, urging you to wrap your arms around his neck as he lifted you from the mattress, positioning you to straddle him as he leaned back on his heels.
It wasn’t exactly an easy position to master at first, but as you sank deeper onto his cock, a loud, uncontrolled moan escaped your lips. And almost instinctively, you grabbed onto his brown locks and began to bounce on him.
“Oh yes, mmm baby, that’s it,” he encouraged seductively, his hands guiding your hips as you moved your core up and down his shaft. Cries of pleasure slipped from your tongue and lips, the intensity overwhelming any attempt at connecting in sloppy kisses, while pearls of sweat formed on your skin as you moved in sync, lost in pure pleasure.
“Mmm, god, it feels... so good,” you softly whined as you found a rhythm, your thighs controlling your motions while his strong embrace kept you in place. Your grip in his hair tightened with every passing moment as he stimulated you from within, and soon, you couldn’t hold back your eagerness to reach the impending second orgasm.
And Simon sensed your urgency as your muscles clenched, your panting uncontrolled, and your motions fervent. “Yes, ma puce… come for me, come on my dick,” he encouraged seductively, his hands guiding your hips to move faster, before he allowed his thumb to seek out your clit, and give you the final push.
You didn’t need to be told twice. Bouncing a few times more vigorously, you let out a deep moan as you pushed yourself to your second climax, resting your head in the crook of his neck as you shut your eyes.
Barely able to hold your own body upright, Simon had you secured as you let the rush of pleasure take over. And you couldn’t ignore that your legs trembled as your core pulsated around him, this being one of the most intense orgasms you’d experienced in a long time.
Breathing became close to difficult, but you managed to refill your lungs with air as you collected yourself, slowly coming out of the euphoric state.
Simon gave you the time you needed to come down from the high, yet he felt his own climax approaching. With the tightness of your core around him, it was increasingly difficult to hold back. So, as he sensed you were back to reality, your satisfied smile indicating your pleasure as you leaned back and opened your eyes, he crashed his lips onto yours in a hungry kiss while pressing you back down into the mattress and picking up forceful thrusts.
Driven by nothing but primal instincts, Simon then pounded vigorously into you, the echoes of your moans ringing in his ears. The air was thick with the scent of sex, the noises of your bodies colliding with force filling the room. And you knew your neighbour was likely to hear you, but you didn’t care. Your mind and body had surrendered to the team’s new defenceman, and you did nothing to stop him from pushing himself closer to his own climax, thrusting with every bit of energy he had in him until he let out a deep grunt, accompanied by a few French curse words, as he released himself into the condom.
You could barely move as Simon rested on top of you, both of your breaths deep and eager. None of you spoke as the high slowly faded, and it was only with care that Simon withdrew himself, offering you a quick kiss before he went to discard the condom.
Your body still tingled from the latest orgasm, as if months of silent flirting had finally found release. Catching your breath, you couldn't help but smile as the hockey player returned to the bed.
Naturally, you both knew he couldn’t stay the night; no one should know he’d been the cause of your loud moans. However, during breakfast, neither of you could resist sending glances across the room. And during the plane ride back to Toronto, you shared only secret messages, trying not to draw attention from your teammates.
Yet that only lasted a few days before Max caught on to the sexual tension between you, and with his big mouth running, soon everyone on the team knew.
Initially, you felt a little embarrassed. However, as you overheard Simon talking about how good it felt to finally give in to his desires and wanting to find a way to ask you out, you felt a level of pride and warmth within you.
And fortunately, it didn’t take long before you finally went on your very first official date.

WHAT WE SEE from I AM HERE on Vimeo.

The annual appointment with Les Étoiles in Rome is certainly a chance to enjoy a thrilling ballet gala, but the producer Daniele Cipriani also finds interesting twists to make each edition unique, so it never becomes a clichéd evening of ballet’s greatest hits.
Such was the popularity last year, that the gala will spread over three days to satisfy those who were turned away last year, as well as the regulars who keep coming back for more. At the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome from the 24-26 January 2020 will appear some of the world’s best dancers.
One of Cipriani’s surprises this year includes specially designed costumes by fashion’s most theatrical designer, Roberto Capucci, for two of the dancers: Sergio Bernal and Young Gyu Choi. There will also be the opportunity to see the 23-year-old Ukrainian dancer, Oleg Ivenko, who was the star of the Ralph Fiennes’ Nureyev biopic, The White Crow, dancing as himself. Tony Award-nominated Robert Fairchild, former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, who will a number from Christopher Wheeldon’s hit show American in Paris, which the multi-talented dancer-actor-singer starred in both on Broadway and in London’s West End.

There will also be the customary “surprise étoile” who will dance with Dutch National Ballet’s Young Gyu Choi, and he will also dance the Golden Idol solo from La Bayadére wearing Capucci’s ‘minimalist’ costume.
Of course, Les Étoiles wouldn’t be Les Étoiles without The Royal Ballet star Marianela Nuñez who will again dance with the “dancers’ dancer” Vadim Muntagirov who was her partner at The Royal Opera House for the recent cinema relay of Coppélia. They will dance pas de deux from La Bayadère and Sleeping Beauty.

Sergio Bernal has become another Les Étoiles regular, bringing down the house with his thrilling zapateado, and he will be doing the same this year as well as performing a new piece by Ricardo Cue (who choreographed The Swan which has brought Bernal acclaim throughout the world) called The Last Encounter, which he dances with Miriam Mendoza of the Spanish National Ballet. Cue was inspired by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and uses music written by Alberto Iglesias for Pedro Almodóvar’s film Talk to Her.

Last October, the world of ballet lost one of its brightest stars when Alicia Alonso died in her beloved Havana, two months short of her 99th birthday. To remember her, Cipriani has invited two of her former Cuban pupils to dance the pas de deux from Don Quixote: Yanela Piñera from the Queensland Ballet in Australia and Luis Valle from the Ballet Méditerannée in Nice.

Christian Dior once said that the nonagenarian Roberto Capucci was “the best creator of Italian fashion”. If you don’t know his work, google him and be awed. He says,
A few years ago, while organising my archive of drawings for my Foundation, I came across an old yellowed envelope, and its contents made me leap back in time: it was from 1948 when I was 18 years old, and a student Academy of Fine Arts. It contained sketches for costumes for a musical revue in Buenos Aires. I remember my passion and excitement designing those costumes but, as is often the case, the project did not go ahead.
As we know, my professional life took another direction but if things had gone another way maybe I would not be a fashion designer but be living in Argentina!

Apart from designing a production of Capriccio in 2002 at Teatro San Carlo in Naples, with my dear friend, the soprano Raina Kabaivanska, I haven’t designed anything else for the stage. However, theatre costumes have always remained close to my heart and so, in my spare time, I would do some designs. I began to show my sketches in exhibitions: at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, the Palazzo Scarpetta in Naples, and so on. The success with both critics and the public encouraged me to continue and so I’ve immersed myself in this project [for Les Étoiles] with great excitement and energy.
A wonderful meeting with the artistic director of Les Étoiles, my friend Daniele Cipriani, convinced me to dress two of the dancers for the gala. It was as though time hadn’t passed… and there are other projects on the way!

Daniele Cipriani’s Gran Gala in Honour of Alicia Alonso will be at the Ravenna Festival on 17 July 2020.
Les Étoiles Gala in Rome 2020 features the ballet world’s starriest names with some surprises The annual appointment with Les Étoiles in Rome is certainly a chance to enjoy a thrilling ballet gala, but the producer Daniele Cipriani also finds interesting twists to make each edition unique, so it never becomes a clichéd evening of ballet’s greatest hits.
