spring, 1912
"edie, wait - " she turned, though the smile that she had been prepared with quickly faltered once edith saw henry. "...oh." was all she managed. "oh?" henry was smiling, an eagerness in his eyes that she didn't have the heart to argue with. "that's all?" "of course not, henry," edie relented, pulling her friend into a hug and holding tight, as if her arms along might keep him here in britchester. they were in their final year, so close to graduating and sorting our the rest of their lives. but who knew if they would even get that chance now. "hey, don't," his voice was gentle, nudging her back enough to see the tears threatening to spill. "i'll be back before you know it, alright? you'll see." "you'd better," somehow she managed a small laugh, charmed again by the same farm boy naivete that he'd first come to the university with four years ago. "i mean it. don't make me come all the way out there myself to drag you back." for the first time, his mood faltered. something nervous passed over his face, perhaps a short lived understanding of the gravity of what he was being sent into. "i won't," he said quietly. "i'll miss you," she said, tugging at his arm like a child. "all of you." "but me specifically, yeah?" there it was again, that self assured grin. "you specifically," she confirmed, leaning close. "yes."

The big day in Charlotte's life has arrived, her marriage to William Lancaster.

But not everything went according to plan. Unfortunately, Charlotte was experiencing hormonal issues.
Which didn't alter her immense happiness at being married. After all, she was incredibly enchanted by her fiance, William.

Brooker Merchant Home - 1385
As promised, our Brooker family has moved up in the world. Our current heir, Terric, and his wife, Brigit have moved into the Merchant class and now live in the Market Square in Windenburg. The family has sold Norman's retail lot and used that money to re-open on the current lot (mostly so I can still play with all members of the family and avoid 400 loading screens). The land has been subdivided to include a separate selling-space, where the family produces and sells bolts of Silk Fabric. The house also includes a chicken coop, barn and garden. (Mostly, as this lot is still off-the-grid and simple living and it gives my Sims something to do, more-so than any historical accuracy).
I'm still reasonably new to building, so I'm sure I'll make loads of changes over time, as the family grows and I get more CC/mods. But overall, I think it's quite cute. :)

Following on from the simple modesty of the 1300s, female hair in the 1400s became a lot more elaborate thanks to the addition of hair pieces, ribbon and other decorations. Braided styles evolved into very detailed and decorative concoctions. Styles also became more flowy and romantic, often with curls framing the face. CC links under the cut.

Antiquated Brindleton
An 1890s Decades Challenge Save File
This save has been almost a year in the making, but it's finally here! It includes a completely rebuilt Brindleton Bay inspired by historic New England towns and set in the 1890s. This save uses a light amount of historical cc and most of the packs.
Download and details under the cut:
Tumblr media
SAVE DETAILS:
Includes:
Eight new residential lots
Seven new community lots
Six new households
Builds and households are all located in Brindleton Bay. The world is intended to be historically accurate to about 1890, though some liberties for functionality have been taken.
Builds in other worlds have been deleted. The necessary buildings, like dorms, active career lots, and the high school, have all been left in place.
Townies have been evicted, but not deleted, as I prefer EA townies to fully randomized townies.
If you’d like more period appropriate townies to add, the lovely @jewishsimming has some great historical ones to download and @cowplant-snacks has an amazing tutorial on how to manage your townies with MCCC.
REQUIREMENTS: I have all the packs except Batuu and some of the kits. I didn’t limit myself when building. I don’t have everything listed out here, but I will be uploading all the lots and households to my gallery, so if you’d like to know specific pack usage you’ll be able to check there. If you load in and things are replaced or missing and you think it looks obvious feel free to message me, I’m always happy to try to help you find something else that fits! This save includes historical CC, some is included in my download in folders and some you will need to download from the creators directly. The CC required is listed and linked below, you need to download these linked pieces in ADDITION to the included cc folders.

Trois femmes aux ombrelles
And we're back at the regular 1880's fashion with this set which inludes bustle skirts in 3 lenghts, 2 skirt overlays, 3 flower accessories, a parasol and an umbrella !
More pics and download below
As referenced in the title, this set was inspired by Marie Bracquemont’s painting : Trois femmes aux ombrelles ou Les Trois grâces / Three Ladies with Parasols or Three Graces, 1880.
Thanks to @javitrulovesims for making the perfect pose for this set !
———————————   Skirts  ———————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Once again, these skirts have a slight bustle shape which would best fit for the natural form era : roughly 1875 - 1883 ; (well actually, the size of the bustle is dependant on the size of the sim’s butt so do with that what you will). They are more ornate than my Cueillette skirts featuring some gathered layers and trims typical of the period, so they would be better suited for higher class people or more dressed up occasions.
And as always I give you 3 versions with each a different lenght to have more teen options and worker friendly options . The short one end mid calf, the medium one is ankle lenght and the long is full lenght.
74 swatches : 22 solids, 10 floral, 6 plaid, 25 striped & 11 polka dot patterns
3 lenghts : S, M & L
————————— Skirt Overlays —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These two overlays will allow to respectively change the gathered layers and the trim swatches in order to channel the trim crazy period that were the 1880's.
Tumblr media
in the middle finger section
74 swatches for the skirt overlay : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
22 solid swatches for the trim overlay
———————— Flower Accessories ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
To properly channel Marie Bracquemond's painting I needed a bunch of flower accessories so you will find 3 accessories in this set : a hair flower, a collar flower and a boutonnière. In my opinion these are pretty timeless and can suit a wide array of looks as portrayed in the pictures below.
These are all edits of @the-melancholy-maiden's Hair Flowers Through the Ages Part 2 thanks to her very open TOU.
Tumblr media
none of these are compatible with hats
51 swatches : the-melancholy-maiden's original 29 colors and my 22 colors
the collar flower and the boutonnière are in the necklace section
the hair flower is in the hat section, available for both female and male frames
the hair flower is hat slider compatible
————————   Parasol & Umbrella  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
I made both an umbrella and a lacey parasol (using Javi's texture). These are rather timeless too I think, they are definetely suited for late victorian and edwardian eras.
These are both edits of @javitrulovesims's Meiji Komorebi Accessory Parasol, thank you Javi !
NOT compatible with necklaces, earrings, piercings or anything using the same UVmap (such as kijiko's lashes unfortunatly)
in the right index finger section
45 swatches : 2 colors for the frame and handle, 22 for the canopy and 1 fully black swatch

Download : dropbox — simfileshare

winterfest, 1910
dear anna, happy winterfest, or new year depending on when this reaches you. i managed to make my way down to brindleton bay in time for the holiday. we all missed you, of course, though i know the work you are doing across the sea is important. lucy is pregnant - terribly so. i'm sure i'll hear about another niece or nephew by the time i get back to school. emma is still here. she's got a lot more gray to her these days, but she's still as sweet as ever. i'm sure she misses you, too. it was good to see everyone, though to be honest, father was distracted and a bit tense. there is talk of a draft soon for the war, even if the fighting feels so far away from here now. you're closer to it - what is it like in windenburg? are you seeing more soldiers about? there was a man handing out flyers on campus. edward spoke to him already, had glowing reviews. i do not how to feel. if a draft happens, of course i will do my duty. and it is good to serve one's country, is it not? honorable. i may need to pause my studies if that happens, but i am hoping they at least let me finish. of course, i don't know how much of a need there is for marine biology in the army. please let me know how you are. i will write again if there are any updates. love, henry

I've been quietly doing a Decades Challenge in my spare time for over a year, and I've finally reached the 2010s.
But one of the most prominent characters throughout the (sim) years is Velma Frances "Vee" Robinson, who married my gen. 2 heir in 1934 and just stole the show - from being a wartime housewife to becoming a successful businesswoman, cat sanctuary manager, and an eccentric great-grandma.
She's lived through two world wars and a scandalous divorce, always with a cig in her hand and a cat by her side - and she is still around in 2010, at the ripe age of 97!
I've loved playing with her so far and just wanted to share a few snapshots I've collected over the years.

The years passed quickly, and in no time at all the triplets were turning 6 years old and starting school. Heather and Jenny threw a big birthday party for their trio to celebrate their huge milestone. They could hardly believe that their once-so-tiny babies were so grown up.

During the 1890s and the early twentieth century, infants, no matter their sex, were dressed in long white gowns that could be bleached cleaned. This fashion remained the same until WW1 as rationing meant that hemlines shortened. Bonnets remained common accessories though the hair bow gained popularity for baby girls in the 1910s.
By the 1920s, baby fashion in line with adult clothing, was sailor inspired and hemlines crept higher up. This trend continued to the 1930s as the great depression meant fabric was scarce and expensive. In fact, for poorer families, infant clothing was handmade with whatever was available, including flour sacks and old curtains.
The 1940s meant WW2 and any sort of elaborateness was very frowned upon. Fabrics were cheap cottons and almost always recycled and knit clothing rose in popularity.
Prosperity and affluence defined the 1950s and this was reflected in baby clothing. Baby boys were dressed similar to older men in little suits with shorts instead of long pants and little girls in full, babydoll dresses. This era also established the stereotypical blue for boys;pink for girls that remains till today.
