Prompt 15 - Accept

Because I can't help myself this is part 2 carrying on from Prompt 14 - Rejection. It's probaly only going to be three parts. Probably.

First part

It wasn’t until Regulus stood beside his cauldron in Potions that his brain caught up with his actions. Had he really just agreed to go on a date with James Potter? He was so distracted by this thought that he almost forgot to add the dandelion roots. His potion would have been useless by the end of the hour if he’d forgotten them. 

“Are you feeling quite well, Regulus my boy?” Professor Slughorn asked him once the lesson was over, and if old Sluggers had noticed he wasn’t himself, then the others would have as well.

“So,” Barty crowed at him once they were free of the potion's classroom. “What’s got your knickers in a twist?”

“Leave him be, Barty,” Evan said as he pulled Barty’s arm away from Regulus’s shoulder. “He’s probably just thinking about all the ways he could kill you and get away with it,” Evan joked. Barty stopped dead in the middle of the corridor. 

“I resent that. I would never let Regulus dispose of me that easily.” Barty scoffed, ruffling Regulus’s hair. His hand hadn’t even left Regulus’s curls before a wand was pressed into his throat. Barty put both hands up in surrender. 

“I mean, he has warned you multiple times not to do that,” Evan raised his brow pointedly and gently pointed Regulus’s wand away from Barty. “Let’s just go get some dinner and relax, yeah?” Regulus pocketed his wand and led them up to the great hall. 

Dinner wasn’t nearly as calm as he thought it would be. His brother and co were sitting further down the Gryffindor table than usual, and he could hear everything Sirius was saying. 

“Why do we have to sit down here, James?” Sirius complained loudly. 

“Just fancied a change,” James said, shrugging his shoulders. 

“Is it because of Evans earlier? Prongs you just have to accept she’s not into you,” Sirius proclaimed as he speared a carrot with his fork. 

“I have,” James told him, as he took a swig of his pumpkin juice. 

“Wait, what?! Since when? Merlin’s beard, Prongs, is there someone else?!” Sirius said far too excitedly. His head spinning around the room as if there would be a sign. His eyes flickered over Regulus but didn’t linger. Typical Sirius wouldn’t ever consider him, although he wasn’t sure that James had told anyone he liked boys. Perhaps he hadn’t known. Just then, James looked up and their eyes met. A soft smile crept onto Regulus’s face without his permission, James’s returned beam made his heart soar.

It had already been a rough night. Regulus had finally fallen asleep after hours of tossing and turning, but eventually found what little comfort he could find on that old mattress in his apartment, and was able to fall asleep.

It wasn't good sleep, but it was sleep nonetheless. At least until his phone started ringing. He groaned and threw his pillow off of his face, turning to see who was calling him at 2am.

Unknown Number.

Great. Regulus learned to associate unknown numbers with Barty. The amount of times he has had to drive him home after being out too late. Either drunk or high or lost. He accepts the call, already fed up with what Barty's going to ask him.

"Barty, I swear to God, what the fuck is it tonight?" He grumbles into the microphone.

An unrecognized but familiar voice comes through the phone. “Hey Regulus.”

He sits up a little straighter in bed, confused. “Who is this?”

“Aww, thought you would recognize me by now doll.” The doll is what catches Regulus’ attention.

“James?”

“So you do remember!” he laughs.

“It’s 2am, what do you need?” Regulus asks. He rubs his forehead, still annoyed just, not as much.

"Oh um, Sirius mentioned that you could pick me up? He gave me your number and told me to call you if I was ever in trouble." Of course, Sirius thinks Regulus will run after his friends too.

He gets out of bed, throwing on a pair of sweatpants he found on the floor and a t-shirt from his hamper, he can't really care about what he's wearing. "Fine. Address?"

There's a sigh of relief that comes over the line, "You know that one bar across from my old apartment?"

"No."

"Oh, um..." James goes silent for a second, presumably trying to figure out where he is. "Blue Pint."

"On my way." Regulus hangs up and sighs. He hopes this doesn't become a regular thing. He does not need another Barty.

the cr ending is so appealing because theyve all come so far, and none of them not a single one of them couldve imagined to be in the situation where theyre all married and raising kids together and just having such a big loving family and support system in the end like NONE of them could've imagined this

like yeah. did people die? yes did they grieve people? yes but did the move on and still find it in themselves to forgive and find new ways to love and live? yes and i think thats the true beauty of crimson rivers

i need a jegulus au where when sirius finds out hes just like:

bc james would definitely rant to all the marauders abt reg like he wouldnt be able to keep that from sirius

cause lets be honest if he couldnt tell sirius he probably wouldnt do it (im not saying they have to tell everybody but the day they got together james was probably like: "im sorry i have to tell sirius abt this, this is the best day of my life and he needs to know" and regulus was probably like; "okay? we both know damn well evan and barty are hearing abt this as soon as i get back")

and if sirius were to be overprotective over one of them it would be over the both of them or more likely james tbf

and sirius probably sat them down and had the talk with them bc they will suffer in a lighthearted way before theyre happy bc that is how brothers are.

and sure he would complain abt it bc hes nothing if not dramatic but he would just be happy that james and regulus are happy.

Edit: like in a fic whoever sirius was closer too i feel like hed be more protective over but it just doesnt make that much sense for sirius and regulus to not talk in years have a rocky relationship as their rebuilding that relationship and then sirius to be more protective over reg

Another edit: if the fic author like made it clear (idk if that makes sense but sure) that sirius still felt like he had to protect reg like he had to do when they were kids then it would make a little more sense if sirius threatened james but

the dating season is about to start! which sirius finds so very dull and silly and uninteresting. he has a reputation for being a rake, but in actuality he just spends his time at his giant estate brooding and writing poetry + emotionally charged erotica. he wants love :-( but people only seem to want him for his money (and because he's hot) (but mostly for the money)

and SO! the dating season! ........ enter remus lupin! who was a childhood friend of sirius and james' that mysteriously disappeared without a trace 5ish years ago! just after he and sirius kissed for the first time :-o and sirius has been predictably Hung Up on him ever since. (readers have noted that themes of regret and lost love seem to be at the forefront madam puddifoot's (....hhaha) poetry. and in her erotic novels, the lovers never get more than one night together!). but remus is here to marry :-( to make a match! marriage is very much an economic proposition for him *cue amy's iconic speech* and sirius thinks it's all bullshit. and so remus goes on lots of dates! and sirius sabotages all of them :-)))
