South park fanart rant

so I've seen some people getting really mad in the comments of some south park fanart posts when the artist draws cartman "skinny" SO I'm gonna rant about it. I'm aware SOME people make fanart of cartman being skinny on purpose which I don't like. but when people don't know how to draw bigger body types, its alr. when I first started drawing south park fanart I did not know how to draw chubby body's, but now I do, so the people who draw cartman skinny usually don't mean to, they just have trouble drawing chubby body's. I'm getting really tired of people commenting on fanarts not enjoying the art, and just pointing out how they drew cartman skinny.

Just be aware that for some beginner artists they don't know how to draw chubby body's, and instead of commenting "why is cartman skinny 😭" just appreciate the art

It's weirdly comforting to be in a fandom like South Park. I guess because the show is about being a kid, and growing up, and dealing with wacky adults (and satire, actual real satire), and a lot more than that.

Like yeah, there are South Park fans who can be obnoxious and bigots (wild because the show specifically makes fun of them the most), but the art side of South Park is a pretty chill place. I love seeing art of the kids as teens, or adults. Like how would they handle high school if being a kid in South Park is already insane? I guess it gives me comfort because I hated high school haha (I'm an adult).

The Tumblr fanbase is pretty chill these days. I remember a while back when you got bullied for being into South Park. It was a big thing, back when Tumblr had a weird purity culture, and didn't understand what the show is even about, or is doing. I haven't seen call out posts like that floating around these days, which is good.

Although TikTok is a wild place. While I want to post South Park stuff there, I've already had some weird interactions. And oh God, the policing of how people draw the characters is wild! Making them into anime has existed since the start of South Park. I feel ancient having witnessed those old anime South Park arts (the influence is in my own arts, and combining South Park with Soul Eater is an OLD trend that I'm glad we're still seeing today). And oooh if I get called a 'new South park fan' one more time, I'm gonna kick someone, like how Kyle kicks Ike.

Though I will say, I can kinda see the criticism with drawing them as anime. But only in the sense that I've seen too many super skinny Cartmans, and white Tolkiens. Though art style isn't an excuse to do that. Cartman shouldn't look like Clyde, and Tolkien shouldn't be mistaken for an OC, is a foolproof method of drawing them I think. Not that I've seen anyone on here doing that, it seems more like the younger TikTokers sometimes do it. Not that I'd bully them about it because bullying ain't cool. It's something that young artists learn (hopefully) eventually.

Sorry, I'm very hyper-fixated on South Park at the moment! I'm rewatching the show and drawing fanart, and have a deeper appreciation for it re-experiencing the show as an adult. Since I can understand the satire better. I'm stuck on South Park until I hyper-fixate on something else.
