Death song oc and my first post on Tumblr!!

They still don't have a name but ya! :D death songs are probably my fave species and I don't really see a lot of art of them so I decided to make my own :3

Slithersong redesign

Ok so I think the slithersongs in the httyd games are a bit boring. I really wanted them to look cool and distinct from the death song, so some mild headcanons ahead

- I made it quadrupedal instead of bipedal. It helped change up the silhouette and make it look more mobile than the death song.

- The slithersong is a bit smaller than the death song, but not by much. It isn’t as strong or bulky, but it is faster.

- I think it’s just because of the name, but I like it being amphibious. It has webbed feet and probably hunts in swamps and other semi-aquatic areas, sort of like a crocodile. This is also why I put the nostrils and eyes higher on the head, and why the spikes look more wave-shaped.

- I like how it contrasts the death song with a darker underbelly, so I decided to keep that. I based its colours and patterns on the black eastern tiger swallowtail, which also lives in humid areas like swamps.

Yandere Death Song with Darling Slithersong(Romantic)

Decided to put some of the requests I have in a randomizer again until I stop having writer's block for the old ones I'm doing rn. So, have this :)

Keep in mind this is Dragon/Dragon content, so you're both a type of dragon. Short as Dragon/Dragon content is odd for me to write in some cases?

Yandere! Death Song with Slithersong! Darling

Pairing: Romantic

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Dragon/Dragon pairing, Stalking, Just dragon courting, Dubious relationship, Trapping, Brainwashing through song.

As I am doing research on the dragon types let's talk about them before we start.

The Death Song is a tropical dragon that mimics butterflies in beauty.

The Death Song, like in its name, also has a siren cry that lures other dragons to it. This is usually to attract food.

These dragons are usually solitary in nature and hunt other dragons by trapping them in an amber-like substance.

These dragons can mimic and sing but struggle to use stealth. Despite this their slender bodies make them somewhat agile.

Their solitary attitude is because any dragon that gets too close is usually made a meal.

Now let's talk Slithersong, the dragon you are in this concept.

Slithersong are a close relative species to the Death Song.

Slithersong also use siren calls to lure in prey and use the same amber-like substance to trap said prey.

There's even some cases where Slithersong can blind prey.

Slithersong are smaller than Death Songs, which makes them faster and more agile.

This would give the Slithersong an advantage over a Death Song.

Slithersong are also solitary dragons due to eating other dragons.

Both dragons are very similar and difficult to train.

It would be... interesting if one tried to court the other.

Imagine if the Death Song thought you were trying to court it with your song which results in the larger dragon trying to court you.

You were just trying to hunt.

Your species is very similar to each other but it would take awhile before an obsession could happen.

Both types are solitary so it would take a long time.

Although I can see the dynamic of this as a Slithersong minding their own business while a Death Song tries to court them.

You just want to hunt and may even try to hunt the Death Song itself but the Death Song always seems to know when to back off.

At some point you may begin to tolerate the other dragon if fighting with it won't work.

The two species could theoretically be compatible with each other due to the similarities they share.

It would be a relationship similar to Night Furies and Light Furies.

The Death Song would no doubt try to hunt for you in an attempt to impress and feed you.

Why hunt for yourself? They can hunt for you...

They even brought dragons coated in amber for you!

Honestly, the fact your song makes prey delusional doesn't help.

The Death Song is only encouraged by your song and loves to hear it.

This situation is probably the only case of two dragons of your species being seen with each other.

It's even stranger that that the Death Song is sharing desperate courting behavior towards you.

Honestly, if the Death Song wanted to keep their Slitherwing! darling in place they may just use amber to trap you, too.

The Death Song would make sure their darling couldn't escape and would trap them in a makeshift nest.

You'd be fed and taken care of by the Death Song... even if you try to nip at them and growl.

If you got too worked up the Death Song would simply sing you a song.

The Death Song trills many songs towards you.

They're mostly calming songs and courting songs.

At night the larger dragon curls around you, amber coating your feet and wings.

To others it may seem like you're prey.

You feel like prey...

But not in the way you think.

Woah wow. Jay writes ideas for the HTTYD au for NPMD because he's enough of a nerd that they'd get killed in that musical.

Right. Gonna go over each of our main cast a bunch. It's gonna be a lot probably. But it's gonna be fun. Because of that. Below the cut.

Peter

As I said in my original post, I think Pete would be out stand in Hiccup. I don't think the Spankoffskis are quite chief status. But I also don't think they're the lowest class. Middle class Peter. Thanks to research, this actually is present in the types of clothes that each character would wear so I'm also gonna talk about that.

Being middle class, I think Pete has access to furs and new fabrics. Maybe some leather from their ancestors has been passed down from when their clan was a higher class. If so, I think it would be found as belts or bands around their wrists. He's not in tattered clothing, but I also think he's crafty. He'd likely prefer to repair his clothes himself instead of getting new ones.

Now onto the dragons.

As I said. Pete is our Hiccup. I think he tries to kill a dragon - to impress Steph - but only manages to wound it. He's unable to kill it and nurses it back to health.

I want to avoid having them fly night furies. So I think Pete's dragon would be a Grapple Grounder. Because I think it's very Tinky. And that's what I'm going with for their dragons. Each of our main sixes dragons are the LIB I associate with them most. :) (Also I'm not going in depth with regards to the dragons. I'm using the wiki for it.)

Pete has a general dislike to killing dragons, but he understands why they do it. I think when he kickstarts the island into liking dragons, Ted doesn't go against him as much as Stoic does to Hiccup. But I think Ted does try to steer his brother into a better approach to helping them understand. This only comes after finding the Grapple Grounder wrapped around the wood pillars of their house.

Steph

Steph is the Astrid stand in but she's the daughter of the Chief (Solomon). She's got all new cloths and furs and leathers to show for it, too.

I think she's entirely capable of killing a dragon and has done it before. She just doesn't want to do it a lot because. Of course she doesn't. Whether it's out of a genuine dislike for killing dragons or her wanting to go against her dad is yet to be seen (it's a bit of both).

Before Pete finds the dragon, I think she still thinks he's cute. But in more of a "you're gonna die out here, let me protect you" way.

When Pete takes her on the first flight, I think she fully starts to fall for him then.

I think her dragon would be a sand wraith because it has a big mouth. And her dragon is nibbly.

I don't think Solomon ever opens up to the idea of dragon riding. Not even when everyone else starts to. I think it gets him killed and because of this, Steph takes over rule of the island. And she does it well, I think, once she learns to.

Ruth

Oh Ruth. I think Ruth is lower class - in an orphanage with Richie, honestly. Both of their parents were killed by dragons. Thanks to this, they wear mainly cloth clothing and have plenty of repairs they've done to them, themselves.

Ruth wants to kill a dragon but she underestimates herself because everyone else does. She's the smallest adult on the island and is incapable of killing even a smaller dragon like a Terrible Terror.

Her dragon is a Slithersong. Because Pokey. And the slither-song is black and blue and that's too perfect to pass up.

I think she's less inclined to trust the dragons when Pete tries to get everyone behind him. But when she sees that Richie trusts them - and probably even Steph trusts them entirely first - Ruth comes around to it.

Richie

Already did this opening part on Ruth's part so. No need to go over it again.

I think Richie loves to read about the dragons, he wants to learn all about them and learn how they tick - he also thinks they're just very cool. But I think he understands and is - at first - encouraging of the killing. He's probably killed a few himself.

I think he's incredibly open to the concept of not killing the dragons, despite this. I think he's willing to change his mind because he knows so much about them outside of hunting them. He's one of the first to trust Peter when he says about training them.

His dragon is a Changewing (wiggly) because they can come in green and honestly. Read the wiki for this one. If you're gonna do it for any of them. This is the one where you'll be like "oh this is wiggly as a dragon".

Grace

Grace, like Pete, is middle class. She's got cloth and fur and family leather, but not as much as a chief or other higher class families would have. But she does have more than Peter.

I think she's a firm believer in killing the dragons thanks to her parents filling her with the same fear and hatred for the creatures that they were.

She's not very open to riding one, until she does, and then she almost definitely goes the complete opposite extreme. As I said in my original post, I think she'd be very likely to be an ally in the first movie, and an antagonist in the sequel. I don't know what her motivation would be. Just know that I think she would be.

Her dragon would be the Hobblegrunt. (Blinky). It's sensitive to emotions and changes colors due to them, so I think having that with a villain Grace would be an interesting concept.

Her parents don't ever really change their minds on dragon riding, though. Even if their daughter does ride. Mark was always fine with dragons.

Max

Max is one of the high class families who are connected with the chief through either old business or blood. They have plentiful fabrics and leathers and furs, and they're all in the best quality.

Max is probably one of the strongest young killers of dragons in the establishing universe, pressured to be that way from his family who are the cliche viking strongmen who want nothing more than to kill the biggest/toughest/strongest dragon and probably mount the head and take the scales and hide for personal use.

This is why I've decided to break the thing I said at the beginning. Max gets a light fury. Because Webby. And also I think he'd be so deeply cautious of trusting them that having something as ethereal as a light fury (who Webby was always going to be) would be a good reason to open his mind a little bit.

I think his dad deserves to die in his hatred for dragons and wouldn't survive the first installment. :)

Anyway that about covers the main cast of characters. I don't have much other thoughts right now considering it's taken. So long to write this post.

Quick disclaimer that it's been a few months since I've seen the movies and those are the only installments of the series that I've ever actually seen. The wiki helped me with the dragon types. I plan on watching my way through the show eventually.

I'm not sure how big of a HTTYD community exists here but I wanna post my findings anyhow:

Mainly due to an old and often very negative server I was in I've seen the argument over whether or not the Slithersong and Deathsong are the same dragon a lot, and well I've found a model resource website that actually has good renders of both models.

So I am here to prove that they are different species but definitely related!

This is a Death Song

And this is what I believe to be it's smaller cousin, the Slither Song

Now right off the bat there's coloration differences of course but here's over all everything that differs between the two:

Slither Song

Smaller head frills

Sharper tail fins

Smoother slightly shorter tail

Smaller eyes on a much rounder and more oval shaped head

Back spines vary in size

Shorter nasal horn

More pronounced wing bones/supports

Horn shape is different and smoother

Death Song

Large head frills

More cylindrical head shape, significantly narrower compared to the Slither

Barbels on the chin

More prominent nasal horn

Back spines are of similar size to one another

Longer tail with small spines running between the fins

More sail like and curved fins with distinct patterning

Larger eyes that face outwards

Poor artists rendition putting the two side by side

Now into the speculation and my own interpretation since School of Dragons gives little ecology info on the dragons.

I believe the slither song to be a smaller cousin to the death song, preferring more tropical or densely wooded environments compared to it's primarily rocky island and ravine dwelling relative. Thus the slither song is smaller and is most likely built for a life closer to the ground and under tree cover with it's darker colors, moving and slinking along tree branches that can support it's weight and perhaps being mistaken for a serpent thus giving it it's name.

In short though, the two species are different dragons - not a case of sexual dimorphisim, not the same thing but blue - simply two rather closely related species that are different the moment you look at the details.

Spoiler! Mikey's next and he was the easiest to find dragons for because I based what I was looking for off of his fire ability that his first weapon gave him

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, when Mikey got his new weapon, his pair of nunchucks did the fire abilities pass on too and we just didn't see them in the movie or are his nunchucks not able to blow up in flames?

Anyway, the 3rd Life dragon riders AU!

I say 3rd Life but it's more like 3rd Life-centric, with Empires season 1 on the side, some very niche helsmit headcanons that could probably get my main blog revealed because of how niche they are, and the smallest amount of canon timeline fuckery :D

I'll focus on 3rd Life for the time being tho

Basically, it all starts with Dogwarts (well, Evo technically but Dogwarts start the main plot). It started with Martyn getting lost at sea after watching his island be destroyed and ending up on the Defenders of the Wing island! Ren quickly follows, as with Skizz. Etho takes longer (by a few months) but they arrive as well. BigB takes the longest to make it, as well as the longest to learn to trust.

The five of them are a close-nit group before long, spending their days adventuring into the woods and sailing around the island. They all came from places where exploration was a must, and it's weird to be contained.

So they leave. They only leave after come newcomers arrive, ones who ride dragons. BigB suddenly isn't alone in being a rider, and Cookie (his speed stinger) makes close friends with the new dragons. Etho wants to learn how to ride a dragon, as with Ren and Skizz. Martyn decides to help the rest of the crew explore the world and try to find the dragon riders from the Edge.

Things don't exactly go to plan, and they get shipwrecked on a (thankfully) friendly island. They decide to make an outpost there, because what else can they do except rebuild the boat?

It's during this stay that Etho and Skizz meet their dragons, a changewing and a triple stryke respectively. Dogwarts doesn't end up leaving, no matter how many times they say they will.

Enter Grian and Scar! Who misread the situation entirely!

You see, Grian, Jimmy, BigB, Martyn, and Pearl are the only survivors of the island of Evo. Grian escaped the Watchers, a group of dragon hunters, by the skin of his teeth. BigB and Pearl took longer, but they got out. Martyn and Jimmy were rushed away before the Watchers attacked. Ever since getting out, Grian has sworn to find his missing friends and protect them.

One day, Grian saw Martyn and BigB from a distance while flying on his sentinel named Watcher. He watched as the two of them attempted to outrun Skizz, who was training Gaze (his triple stryke) to track others. Grian thought that Dogwarts was keeping his friends captive, and didn't think to learn more.

Scar on the other hand, is deserving of Dogwart's wrath. You see, Scar had attempted to gather a bunch of crystals to sell, only to be stopped by Etho and Ren. Those 'crystals' were actually dragon eggs, something Scar didn't know about. Scat got away with one egg, a terrible terror that would soon be named Llama, on his flightmare named Vex.

So basically miscommunication starts a war of sorts. Nobody here has the braincell.

I'll explain more about the Flower Husbands/Hobbits and the Crastle-alinged individuals later, my hands are hurting a bit and the ask box is getting laggy - 🔮🐦(magic bird anon)

(oh and I didn't mention it yet, because it happens later in the plot which I still need to explain, but Ren's dragon is a scuttleclaw named Red Winter, and Martyn's dragon is a slithersong named Listener)

This is so heckin pog! Ok so pretty obssesed with everyone's dragon and also the idea of the Dogwarts gang travelling together is so cool!!!! I love that they're all fighting bc of miscommunication it's so in character!

Was the island of Evo destroyed or is it just left abandoned now that all the survivors have left? 👀👀

Nine realms season 4! Timberjack! New Mist Twister! Snow WRAITH! 3 MORE ICE DRAGONS! B A B Y N I G H T L I G H T !

The trailer does get me pretty excited! There're actually a lot of thing to talk about so I'm going to do that!

First up these guys! It looks like a slithersong nadder hybrids as well as vaguely remind me of Hushboggle. Of course I don't I'm not saying that these guys are hybrids (already got into an arguement before that no just because dragons look like a hybirds or name like a hybrids doesn't mean that they are hybrids) I think they'd be neat on either direction wheater they're original species or the first instant conformation of natural hybrids in the show

Next up, Timberjack! Timberjack is not on the list of dragon I expected to see on ice realm but upon thinking about it, it is a dragon that fit mr. axe 'em guy over here very much, and from the brief shot in the trailer it does seems to have lazzo over it so It might actually be buzzsaw's dragon

But the first thing that caught my attention more than the lazzo is the wing ridges, make me wonder if this might be the varient, the evolution or the titan. Timberjack has never made appearance on the series before and despite showing up in the sequels here and there we are never really seeing its woodcutting action. Maybe the ridges are added to make it make sense because the original wings doesn't really look like it can guilotine the tree like book of dragon said?

Snow wraith are very expected for this season the thing that gets me is that these boys are HUGEE. Are they going to go for titan angle again or the evolution will actually make them huge this time

this is my personal opinion but the fact that snow wraith is small always disappoint me and make me not liking the dragon very much. Like you see the promotion image and thinking yay big tough snow dragons!

when in reality there're like a small gremlin, like the smokebreath, no bigger than gronckle. (which isn't a hate on small dragon like smokebreath but it's just so unexpected that i am disappointed)

Speaking of big tough dragon--my beloved!

I make own post about this guy already. Really looking forward to see it. Though to add on a bit, other than reminding me of my snow wraith hybrids it does also remind me a little of foreverwing and Ironclaw

and lastly the killer, baby nightlight. I'm surprise that it does look more in line with our night light more, almost as if they use the model from the movie rather than redesign it like Thunder, (maybe to avoid blacklash?) but I do see the wingtip still

oh there's also mist twister. I think wu wei is pretty underdeveloped so if he get the spotlight in this episode that'd be nice. The color is nice!
