Yes and no? He has a majority of his memories back, even if some of them are still fuzzy, but that doesn't mean his memory is fixed... but he's getting better every day!

The girlboss-ification of Galadriel bothers me so much. In the books, in Tolkien’s works, Galadriel is a powerful political leader, even by the second age. She is a princess of the Noldor, the daughter of Finarfin. She is proud and respected.

In the Rings of Power, she is nothing more than a bitter commander in Gil-Galad’s army. She can’t even control her own subordinates. (They call her “Commandeer Galadriel” not “Lady Galadriel”!) She is ignored by Gil-Galad and condescended to by Elrond, she is dismissed and rebuked. She has no influence and no status of her own. So far in the show, her motivation is just vengeance and her own trauma, there is no greater consideration of the fate of Middle-Earth, no political aspirations, no nothing. Her identity becomes one of being Finrod’s little sister, not a leader of her own.

In the Unfinished Tales, there are many inconsistencies in Galadriel’s history, but none of them suggest this powerlessness and this humiliation.

I don’t care if they make her out to be a warrior or not, I don’t care if she leads people into battle or not, I do care about her political power.

They say they are centering female characters, which would be great, except they are disempowering her. I would much rather see a woman in a position of influence and respect, than one who is good with a sword. This is Galadriel, who refused Feanor, one of the greatest elves of all time, when he asked for a strand of her hair, and in Rings of Power she becomes a cast-away who is thrown around, ignored, and manhandled by those around her.

I understand the need to have room for character development and growth, but this is not that. It’s such a performative attempt at feminism, she is a classic 2010 female protagonist. One who is good at fighting, who is the underdog, who doesn’t allow herself to be kind or gentle or have emotional vulnerability, because the writers forgot what female empowerment actually looks like. A woman with dignity and political power is so much more important than a woman who can carry a sword.

Bestie Meetup!!!

So as I'm sure most of you are aware by now, me and @calcium-cat are very close best friends. We first started talking to one another when she was was finishing her first fic A Little Bitty of Hope a few years ago and we've basically been talking to each other on an almost daily basis ever since haha.

However she lives in the US while I live in Ireland, which are quite far from each other as you probably know, so we've never seen one another face to face before...

But finally, next Thursday after over one hundred days of counting down and planning, me and her are at last going to meet and hug and do all those things besties do when they get together X3.

Both of us will be travelling to London to attend MCM Comic Con for the weekend and to say I'm excited to see my bestie and attend the con with her would be a huge understatement. Thursday seriously cannot come fast enough (though the Con starts on the Friday I am meeting her the prior day so the jet lag will hopefully be gone by the time it starts haha).

As a fairly shy, quiet adult, I still cannot get over the fact that someone is willing to travel several hours overseas on a flight just to see me (attending the con is a nice bonus tho) ... Especially as bestie has never been on a flight before like, girl what? Are you sure about this XD? I still can't get over it honestly, but I'm hugely grateful for it <3.

Rest assured Bestie that I'm going to make sure that this is the best weekend ever for both of us :3! You're super duper awesome once again and I can't wait to meet you at the airport... Even if we'll both be slightly out of it from both tiredness and jet lag XD.

And I promise one day I'll come see you in America!

I'm not sure how much we'll really be posting about the trip on here, since I'm sure there's things we both wish to keep private but we still wanted to let our followers know what we're up to, especially since the UTMV fandom is what brought us together as friends and is one of the reasons we're so close. So yeah thanks UTMV fandom for letting me find my best friend :3! I appreciate you all very much <3!

Neither of them had much talent for cooking. Sure, they could boil pasta or throw something in the oven, but anything more intricate was usually handed over to Serah. So when Lightning walked into the kitchen one day and saw Hope surrounded by pots and pans and utensils, methodically chopping some vegetables, she was more than a little surprised.

"What are you doing?" He glanced up at her voice, immediately breaking into a smile. "Hey," he greeted, adding with a little chuckle, "this was supposed to be a surprise."

She smirked. "You don't sound all that mad that I caught you."

"As if I ever could be." He put down the knife and leaned over for a smooch, only their lips touching since his hands were covered in who knew what.

"True." Her eyes roamed over everything that was spread all over the kitchen. "Now that I did catch you, though, you can answer me."

Hope laughed a bit, the sound tinged with nervousness. "It's silly." "Try me." He sighed and went back to his chopping. "One of my coworkers mentioned how her wife surprised her with this elaborate from-scratch dinner for their anniversary last weekend. The way she described it sounded really nice and I just..." He shrugged, his ears turning a bit red. "It just sounded like something nice I could do for you."

Lightning stared at him for a long moment before a little smile quirked the edges of her lips. She moved to stand next to Hope, gently bumping her hip against his. "You didn't have to go through the trouble." "I want to, though. I always like doing - shit!"

She jumped a little as the knife slipped, slicing along the side of Hope's hand. He immediately dropped it and turned on the faucet to run his hand under the water. When it still kept bleeding after a minute, Lightning took his non-injured hand and started tugging him towards the bathroom. "Come on. I'll bandage you up." Luckily, the cut wasn't deep enough to need stitches, so she made quick work of cleaning it and bandaging it up. Hope gave her a funny little smile the whole time, and when she was finally done, he chuckled a bit and said, "You didn't have to go through the trouble." She rolled her eyes a little at having her words thrown back at her. Two could play at that game. "I always like doing nice things for you." She squeezed his hand a little, glancing up at him through her bangs. "Got a problem with that?" "Not at all." He grinned and kissed the top of her head. "Lemme repay you with dinner now, hmm?" "Right." She let him tug her back to the kitchen, where he kissed her again before going back to his prep work. This was nice, she decided. There was something about watching him cook for them that sent a little flutter through her chest. And if dinner ended up being inedible, well, she was certainly nice enough to have a takeout menu at the ready.

For those of you who have read anything about journey to the west I would like to inform you that i(someone whose never heard of this book before) listened to my friends argue over a plot in the book that was referred to as the “the mpreg fantasy water”.

This book written in 16th china ( i think) had a whole ass plot where as I can explain the lesbian holy land of women and women only had magic river with pregnancy water because fuck men. Guy in this book took a dainty lol sip then oh wtf he was WITH CHILD but couldn’t have the damn thing and had to have a 16th centry abortion?

I watched as the people I have called my friends for over a year fell apart argueing on if the guy really was with child meanwhile I was violently whiplashed out of my relaxation hearing @vexbirdy yell “mpreg fantasy water”. This eventually devolved into us all VIOLENTLY debating on the technicalities of 16th centry mpreg fanfic wack a doodle shit infront of the entire advisory class. The teacher? Horrified. Nobody wanted to be associated with us in that moment.

Like things were HEATED. I was busy laughing a grave of my tears listening to this bullshit. Our school doesn’t have a debate club for a very good reason.

I procede to go to my moms after school, traumatized her laughing my ass off telling her about said debate, called @clodoveah to tell her about what happened which ended up with us LOSING. OUR. SHIT. We started theorizing about why the fuck anyone (sane or not) would make this apart of a plot of a “praised literature masterpiece” we came up with 2 theories:

- the author was secretly gay af and was weirdly into mpreg and shit and that this was the first 16th centry mpreg book?

-feminist/lover of the lesbians

Also we debated for 20 minutes on how a 16th centry abortion would work and how mpreg would just work in general. My poor mother could hear from the other room. Please keep in mind i have no context about the actual book, and i don’t want to I think summarizing it up like that is good enough for me.
