Not having a car in your 20s really is a humbling experience. That post where the guys like 'I have to ask my mum to go to walmart' I feel that.
I'm not American so I do have the benefit of town living and a walkable community. I feel very lucky to have been able to live right in the heart of my hometown again (lived on the main street above a shop for a while as a kid but mostly lived in residential areas. As an adult I'm lucky enough to live on a road coming off the main street (can no longer live in places with stairs so above a shop is no longer an option) HOWEVER.
my town is gentrified as fuck and all the shops are stupid. And even if I put up with the cost and buy the things I can in local shops, I can only carry a very limited weight of shopping, but am very stupid and overestimate my ability/ realise but still get carried away and buy too much as I have no impulse control every time. So I'm left having to beg lifts/tag along with pretty much anyone that'll have me lol.
Pour one out for me, trying to run a household and not even having parents I can ask for lifts. I'm begging lifts off aunties, grandparents, friends, fucking COUSINS. Most humbling experience ever and without a car you can't even repay them with easy errands. Watch me repay the favour with CHILDCARE, with TECH SUPPORT, with financial advice. Those are all the worst favors. I don't mind doing them but BY GOD would I prefer to be able to occasionally just pick them up something from the shop. Drop them at the train station. Pick up a parcel.
#i do have parents. they just aren't the kind of parents you can ask to do things lol#plus my dad left the country when i was a teenager so he's not here to ask even if i thought he might do it#and my mum. well she's my mum. once made the mistake of asking her to pick me up from the hospital when I'd been taken there by ambulance#and had been admitted for a few days so they wouldn't discharge me without someone collecting me#(i was also like 17 lol so tho i lived alone we were on rocky territory as to if they'd LET anyone that wasnt a parent collect me)#and she was like. 'i do have a life you know! this is very inconvenient.'#eventually she did collect me so i was discharged eventually (only like 8 hours after they wanted to discharge me lol) but#she complained the whole time lol and parked like 20 minutes away despite me being in hospital cause my leg was fucked#(who does that? bring the car round for fucks sake) so since then she's been at the bottom of my list of ppl to ask favors from and if i do#bother theres a 90% chance she'll say no she doesnt want to#if she does agree she will complain about it the whole time. be as awkward as possible and remind ppl how helpful she was for the next year#therefore the choice is: buy things locally at a markup. catch the bus and inevitability injure myself by buying too much. online shopping#online works pretty well for a lot of heavy stuff but there's a big markup. plus most of the time i have to use amazon my beloathed#so i usually end up writing lists of stuff for certain (cheaper) shops and then either jumping on the opportunity when someones going there#or else letting the list pile up and asking for a favour when i can't wait any longer.#(my worst trait is whenever someone has a problem being like.i know exactly what you need.you know where you can buy it? I'll come!)#its largely a self inflicted inconvenience cause I'm too cheap to just buy things at a markup I'd rather buy in bulk at out of town shops

The Wizard and the Warrior
Boy it’s been busy. Double shifts whenever I’ve been free and uni starting again have really been a hassle but I managed to get in some writing so I hope you enjoy this final instalment of the Eldritch Knight series! Was going to split this one in two parts but didn’t work out so sorry for that. Hope you like it! 😘
You didn’t know what to expect when you were pulled through the world away from the homey Xhorhaus but you definitely didn’t expect the sound of waves in the distance and seagulls, the subtile smell of salt water and sand and an ocean breeze to hit you when you reappeared. Upon your vision taking in the new surroundings you find yourself standing under one of the opal archways looking out over a covered market selling all sorts of goods from street foods and drinks to knickknacks and jewellery, merchants calling for the attention of the people strolling about, negotiating prices or shouting their latest discount to pull in new customers. You’re in Nicodranas.
Essek knew he made the right decision when he sees the joy and excitement on your face. His feet tap the ground and he walks instead of floating, not wanting to draw any more attention that necessary and instead just enjoy these moments with you without the possibility of people finding out who you really are. Today you’d just be normal people without the weight of the world balanced on your shoulders. Today you got to be ordinary tourists exploring a city you otherwise never could. Nobody knows you’d be here.
You stroll about the market arm in arm moving from shop to shop and stand to stand inspecting wares, admiring them and listening to the stories the merchants tried to sell you. Both of you knew better and were able to easily distinguish truth from lies but that didn’t mean you didn’t like playing along every so often.
When you reached near the end of the market square the canopies started leaving gaps and eventually disappeared. Essek did his best to hide his winces whenever the sunlight was particularly bright. The sun was setting but it would still be another hour or so until it was fully set and he might have underestimated the brightness of the light. He didn’t let it bother him and pulled through. The slight discomfort is one-hundred percent worth looking upon your face as you bartered with another merchant.
Essek was partially blinded from where he stood while you browsed the wares of a man selling all sorts of curiosities but he couldn’t really move elsewhere without leaving your side or stepping into the path of walking people so he stuck and stayed relying on his hearing instead. You were bartering with the man as he put prices to the things you showed interest in and you tried to get a better price because you were fully aware you could get something similar if not the same for much cheaper. Essek couldn’t do anything but admire your skill and careful navigation of this encounter showing you had not left your wits with your armour back in Rosohna.
Once you got a good deal you bought your findings; a wide sheer shawl more like a thin blanket to wrap around your shoulders as you knew upon nightfall the breeze could bring a chill, a decorated silver bracelet with an inset purple gem that showed silver specks like stars whenever it caught the light just right and something else… Once done you pulled Essek aside into the full cover of one of the canopies and Essek was thankful for the break.
You’d expected Essek to have broken or admitted to his discomfort before when you noticed him wince every time the canopy lifted upon the wind and allowed the sun to bleed through right where he stood. You knew drow senses are attuned to darker spaces and in turn therefor experience a sensitivity to daylight.
“Will you stop being stubborn and just admit when something bothers you?” You say sternly as Essek rubs his eyes to get rid of the dark spots clouding his vision. When he sees the look you give him he bites his lip in shame. Apparently he hadn’t done such a good job of hiding it after all.
“I may not be able to do anything about the sunlight but I can do this.” You take out a parasol of a dark grey almost black colour with ornate lace designs added to it. It does enough to shield those under from the light and should prevent Essek from experiencing downsides of his drow heritage. Before he can protest you link your arm with his again holding the parasol above the two of you and shield yourselves from the light.
“Don’t worry. You can thank me by providing your company over a meal with me until the sun sets and we can go outside again without you burning off your retinas. I know just the place.” You smile as you begin leading Essek away to a different part of the city. You may not be the most familiar with Nicodranas but you know how to get to most places you’ve been before. You know your way from this market square to the Lavish Chateau so you begin leading Essek in that direction.
“There’s a great fish and chips shop on the way near Tidepeak I don’t think that kind of street food is really your style.” You say as the Tidepeak comes into view.
—————
Meanwhile the Nein and Verin stumble out into the teleportation circle room at the Tidepeak. They cracked the code and figured it out based on the list of places Verin had found among Essek’s notes. They knew exactly where Essek was going so it wouldn’t be much effort to find you two right? What harm has a little spying ever done to anyone? Maybe don’t answer that question. They had come for their own reasons be that to watch an epic romance unravel, dig up some dirt to tease or blackmail either of you with, or simply to keep the others in check.
“Shit. Should we have send a message?” Jester panics looking around for the goblin that usually helps them on their way and informs Yussa of their arrival.
“Not again.” Beau exclaims in exasperation. Yes again. And again they explain to Wensforth this is a matter of the utmost importance and expediency and they couldn’t have sent a message beforehand or lost too much time. Wensforth luckily for them didn’t have it within him to question their strange reasonings as he escorted them out of the tower and left the to their business.
—————
Within the Lavish Chateau you found out Essek had made a reservation and the guards and servers seemed to be extremely welcoming and attentive to the both of you for some reason you raised an eyebrow when a top shelf bottle of wine was brought out and left at your table once your glasses were poured and you awaited your food.
“Do I want to ask how you did all this?” You swirl your finger around gesturing to your surroundings. “Because last I was here, not even the daughter of the Ruby of the Sea and her friends get this kind of attendance.”
“Then perhaps it’s best you don’t ask.” Essek smiles proudly.
“How many of the Nicodranian nobility have cleared their debt with the Dynasty or reminded of their indiscretions then?” You ask giving him a look over your glass as you take a sip of delicious wine. Top shelf really is worth it.
“I thought you weren’t going to ask.” You hook your ankle around his from under the table and pull your leg back, Essek briefly loses balance but not enough to throw him off and fall from his seat. He gives you a disapproving and teasing look as you laugh. Food is served and just like everything, it’s perfect. Essek really put in the work to make this all happen and if the sunlight hadn’t thrown you off his schedule you can’t even fantom what else he had planed for your date. Though, he didn’t seem to mind the change of plans a single bit.
Pleasant conversation about everything and nothing all the same, asking questions so trivial you didn’t think Essek would ever even have been capable of being so relaxed and free of responsibility. When it falls silent for a second and Essek catches you staring at him in thought he studies you closer.
“What?” Essek asks as you hum.
“Just thinking?”
“A copper for your thoughts then?” Essek puts his glass down. He doesn’t want to pry or ask out of turn but he is curious as of what got that dreamy expression on your face when you retreated within your own mind for that moment.
“All of them?” You grin.
“If you are willing to reveal them.” Essek returns to your surprise, fully aware of the meaning behind your words and yet he still plays along. These kind of moments are rare with Essek unless you are completely alone so you’ll revel in the fact that he lets go like he does right now and hope you’d be able to see this side more often.
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want you to get all flustered upon my voicing certain thoughts.” You tease, mischievous look in his eyes as he leans in on his elbows on the table and tilts his head amused.
“Then perhaps keep it limited to your most recent ones? For now at least.” You snort and almost choke on the sip of wine you took bur recover quickly. You definitely didn’t see that one coming.
“Oh so he does play the game in public without shame. You are full of surprises today, aren’t you?” You drop the teasing and turn to your observation. “I was just thinking I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so carefree. I’d love to see this side of you more often if you’ll let me.” The teasing drops from Essek’s face and his expression turns into one of genuine affection.
“I’d love nothing more.” Your glasses are refilled as the crowd begins gathering for the performance of the Ruby of the Sea.
—————
The Mighty Nein and Verin follow Jester leading them from place to place on the list but no matter how much they search they can’t find you. Last they heard you were seen buying some stuff from a merchant and then nothing so they had resorted to going down the list until they’d found you but still nothing. Over an hour had passed and the sun long since set, lanterns lit to lead the ways.
They search high and low following the list Verin had found but don’t find you and Essek anywhere. Nicordanas is a big city and turns out finding a buff pretty person and a hot boi drow are a lot harder to find than they initially thought. So, having given up the search they instead turn to a place to drink and wallow in self pity for not spying on the date. Jester knows just the place… No better place than the Lavish Chateau. Maybe her mom will even perform tonight!
When they reach the Lavish Chateau the crowd’s already gathering but with sheer determination and the threatening of some they make it through and find a table, their drinks served as Jester goes off to say hi to her mom before the performance. Then of course Verin and Beau ask about a couple, describing you and Essek having come through here. Instead they’re pointed to a private table out of the direct sight of the entrance but in full view of what is to be the Ruby’s performance space, and if Beau knows anything, a really really expensive bottle of wine shared between the two of you as you sit around laughing and engaging in happy conversation.
As they watch, Essek and you suddenly being the most interesting thing in the entire room they notice a blush creeping up your face as you twirl one of the flowers in your hair returning an equally daring comment of your own, your fingers dancing over the back of Essek’s hand outstretched towards you until he closes his hand and grasps them. You gasp and giggle as he intwines your fingers with his and you making a comment that sends a deep purple crawling up the wizard’s cheeks. The Nein watch, some swooning at the cuteness, the others in surprise and a hint of disgust akin to that of watching your sibling be sugary sweet romantic with their partner you do not want to witness, and the rest like encouraging friends glad their friends have found happiness within each other.
The performance is about to begin and you spot a blue tiefling running down the stairs as quick as she can darting to one of the tables. You already had the feeling you were being watched for the past fifteen minutes but thought nothing of it as since no action was taken yet and the crowd grew, if it were assassins or the likes again, they’d have come for you before as to not make a scene. Getting confirmation your friends had tracked you to Nicodranas and found you here. You’re not surprised but rather impressed and the addition of what clearly looks like a drow soldier of some repute with features similar to Essek lead you to believe this must be his infamous brother he’d been complaining about plenty of times. You move your chair as if to get a better view of the performance to come and sit right next to Essek. You weren’t the only one who noticed them.
“Do you think they know we know they’re here.” Essek leans into your shoulder as he speaks.
“No. Not this time but if you weren’t so caught up in admiring me you’d have noticed them first.” You lean in closer, whispering into his ear as you speak.
“You are quite distracting.” Essek defends with a laugh.
“I’ve seen Beau and your brother gag and complain twice now. Is this the point where we return the favour and give them a show to remember?” You suggest with a glint of mischief within your eyes.
“How could I refuse?” Essek’s word are enough for you to further provoke the Nein and take it up a notch, or several.
“Tell me if something makes you uncomfortable and I’ll stop.” You halt your teasing and allow your tone to turn more serious. Essek does the same when you do.
“Only if you promise to do the same.” Essek doesn’t know if it’s the wine or your shared desire to make them suffer for interrupting your date like they did. Probably the latter. Most definitely the latter. Let them squirm.
The Ruby comes down the stairs singing and everyone hangs onto her every word, her entire being like she’s a siren from the depths ready to lure in hopeless sailors. As her performance continues you move yourself closer to Essek until your sides are pressed together. Essek’s arm wraps around you pulling you close into his side and to your surprise, onto his lap. You lean your head against his shoulder and whisper sweet nothings, as you play with the fingers of his free hand lovingly. You pay attention to the performance, little attention needed for this display of affection as it comes surprisingly natural and unrestrained to the both of you.
You lift your head and lean towards Essek, but an inch away from his lips, making eye contact as you whisper something to him but the Nein can’t hear over the singing and you’re too far away to lip read for anyone. It’s so frustrating but holy hells, they never knew Essek had a romantic bone in his body, let alone the guts to drop his composed and emotionally constipated side completely around you. They definitely didn’t see this coming and even Beau could relate to Jester’s possible ideas of turning this into some kind of smutty romance novel because that’s what it looked like.
When you leaned back, always teasing and never close enough to actually kiss, you watched the performance more. Both you and Essek admired the show the Ruby was putting on. Her song as beautiful as she is but you might have connected with her a little more than anyone else in the room because when she passed your table and saw you and Essek she gave you a knowing smile. A knowing smile that showed she knew exactly when a performance was being put on, the courtesan’s ability to read people shining through once more when she winked at you before she turned around and found her way to the table of the Nein, distracting them from you and pulling the attention to herself.
Essek was surprised and didn’t really know what to make of what just happened but next he knows he’s being pulled away from his seat by you and dragged to a side exit, abandoning the table mid performance. Out in the street you take off running and then it hits him; a moment of privacy. You played everyone, even him in the end when you appeared to have your attention fully on the Ruby of the Sea but instead you had a nonverbal agreement with the woman. Regardless of his thoughts you kept running towards the eastern edge of the city, through the gates and to the beach. Freedom.
The moon and stars and city lights within the walls as your light source you pulled Essek along to the shoreline, laughing your asses off. You’ll have to remember to give Marion a big thanks next time you see her. Once safely away from the city sure you’re far enough away from the city you slow your pace and walk side by side along the beach.
“As clever as ever.” Essek compliments as you bump your shoulder into his with a grin. You offer Essek a hand as you climb over some rocks blocking your path. Essek takes it but instead of climbing he just hoovers over without any difficulty.
“While, I’d gladly take credit I think you deserve at least half. Did you see the looks on their faces?” Your laughter rings like chimes in reminisce of your friends. It’s music to Essek’s ears.
“I could never forget.” You stop and lower yourself onto the sand, gently pulling Essek’s arm inviting him to join. He does and sits down next to you as stare at him.
“Today was a good day. We should do this more often.” You sigh in content. There’s just something about the drow and the starry night sky behind him that makes him look so ethereal, you could look at him for ages and never get bored.
“Being run out of a city by our friends for a moment of privacy?” Essek deadpans and you playfully shove him.
“While it was certainly eventful I think I could do without uninvited company next time.” In comfortable silence you both watch the view. Moon reflecting on the ocean, sound of gentle push and pull of the water against the shore and the thousands of stars scattered throughout the sky giving the both of you a sense of warmth and comfort.
“You certainly found your courage tonight. I never thought you capable of such intimate displays of affection.” You comment and Essek turns his gaze to you. Despite the low light you notice the slight darkening of his cheeks a he takes in a breath.
“I partially blame the determination to push my brother’s buttons.” You snort.
“And the other part?” Essek decides to humour you with and answer even though you hadn’t expected one.
“You, as my partner in crime as some might say, made it easy to put on such a display. Though, I will admit to not being so open and frivolous in my affection with an audience, I did enjoy them nonetheless.”
“Well then, I’m glad my frivolous affection brings you joy.” You say and Essek is about to correct himself for his words but stops when he notices you holding back your smile. You know exactly what he meant and when Essek notices it’s his turn to gently shove you. You gasp even though you’re physically unmoved.
“Aren’y you all courage tonight? Careful now or I’ll toss you into the ocean.” You jest.
“It seems both of us have not been lacking any courage this night.” Essek comments and he’s right. With the antics of the day, and your grand escape, you might never have had it been any other situation. You really did enjoy it and wouldn’t change a single thing. Well, maybe add something but there’s no time like the present so maybe you’ll just ask.
“Then, in a bout of courage, I will ask you this. May I kiss you?” Essek does a double take in case he heard your words wrong but the expression written all over you confirms he has in fact heard you loud and clear. Still he doesn’t miss a beat in his answer. He’s already made up his min.
“You certainly may.” With that you close your eyes and lean in placing your lips onto Essek’s in a gentle kiss. No pretend, no faked lust or intimacy but honest, clear and unrestrained emotion. When you pull away you’re both smiling like fools.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.” You whisper as Essek leans in carefully to kiss you this time, lips moving together in a slightly deeper kiss. His hand finds your cheek holding your face lightly caressing a thumb over your cheekbone.
“I could say the same.” Essek speaks when you pull apart for a moment, foreheads leaning against each other. Many more kisses follow, varying from gentle and sweet to passionate and deep, whatever suits your needs. You have no intention of getting off this beach near Nicodranas any time soon nor do you have anywhere to be so here you’ll stay enjoying each other’s company until the sun rises.
From behind the rocks not too far away, eight people watch the wizard and the warrior finally do what some of them had hoped they would in the months they’ve gotten closer. Others are turning away while maybe peaking through at times, solely to see their friends happy with each other despite the chaos of the world but not without going right back to quieting their gagging noises of ‘not wanting to see the people who they consider their family making out’.
“Oh my god! This is going to be so good, you guys. They’re so cute!” Jester whispers already taking notes and working out the story in her head. It’s going to be an epic love tale of two star-crossed lovers for sure. Maybe she can question you on the more spicier details later, get this book to sell at the Chastity's Nook some day?
“Ugh. Let’s go. I can’t watch this any longer. Drinks?” Verin doesn’t resist and follows Beau, Yasha and Fjord back to Nicodranas. Caduceus has a bit more difficult of a time to drag the cleric and rogue away as the latter enabling her actions instead of giving you some much deserved privacy. He succeeds eventually leaving you and Essek behind to enjoy the rest of your night with a smile. Nothing better than people finding their own happiness.

leave your thoughts: here
my other writing: here
word count: 10,032 words
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I’m ready for the semester to be over with.” A groan erupted from across the room, a muted thump following as the body fell back onto the couch. “I’m sick and tired of all these fucking papers! Seriously, who is going to read eight pages of bullshit about macro molecules used for cloning purposes?”
“I think your professor might?” Y/N raised a brow, watching as her roommate and friend, Doyeon, rolled over on the couch to glare at the former. She grumbled the whole time she sat back up, causing Y/N to chuckle and return to her own paper. She had to admit, the papers were a lot and due in such a short amount of time, as well. They had to be done, though, since both girls wanted to graduate as soon as possible.
“I swear, when all these fucking classes are over, we are going on that trip.” Doyeon continued to grumble as she abandoned her laptop on the couch and made a beeline for the coffee machine in the kitchen. Y/N couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the empty threat of a trip, knowing full well it was near impossible. With a job lined up to start in the middle of July, Y/N knew any trips wouldn’t happen with her empty wallet. Doyeon liked to dream, though. “We’re going and I will drag you along if I have to.”
“You know I can’t, Do. I have family things to take care of after the semester and then I start my job in July.” Y/N explained in a monotone voice, the information nothing new to either party. She could hear Doyeon grumbling again as she pressed the button to brew her coffee before her head was poking out of the kitchen to half glare at Y/N sitting at the kitchen table.
“We can find time. Your brother’s graduation is like, right at the start of June. And then your mom’s birthday isn’t until the start of July, right? There’s totally time to go somewhere and come back!” Doyeon gasped a little, disappearing back into the kitchen to retrieve her coffee. When she came back out, instead of heading back to her laptop on the couch, she took the other seat at the kitchen table. Doyeon sipped on her coffee, watching Y/N type some more on her own laptop before the latter eventually looked up at her friend.
 “What?”
“What about somewhere warm, like Hawaii? Or Miami? What about the Bahamas? Or Cuba?” Doyeon threw out the suggestions one right after the other, not pausing for Y/N to interject at all. When she reached the end of her short list, Doyeon gasped and quickly left the table to return to her laptop. Y/N feared it wasn’t for her paper, though. “Cuba would be perfect! You took Spanish, you could understand people.”
“Doyeon, I haven’t taken a Spanish class since sophomore year--”
“This hotel looks perfect! The plane tickets aren’t even that expensive. How long should we go? Is two weeks too long? Oh well! Two weeks in Cuba in the middle of June!” Doyeon sang as she clicked a few things. Y/N was the one to abandon her laptop this time, rushing over to see just what her friend was doing. “And done! It’s happening, you can’t stop it now.”
“Doyeon! What did you do?” Y/N stared at the laptop screen in slight horror, eyes scanning over the confirmation page of the hotel and plane tickets that were just bought and booked. Turning from the screen to her smiling friend, Y/N couldn’t contain her frown of displeasure. “There’s no way I can back out, is there?”
“Nope! You’re coming with me. Don’t worry, I’ll plan out stuff to do in between our beach bathing.” Doyeon waved her hand as if to dismiss the worry of lack of activities, though that did nothing to cure the small bubble of dread building in Y/N’s chest.
This trip was going to be an adventure for sure.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
“So she really bought them?” The shocked gasp that resonated in the room left Y/N feeling even more dread building. She sullenly nodded at her coworker, Jimin, as she resumed the sweeping she’d been doing. “That’s so crazy! I’m jealous, though. I’d love to go to Cuba.”
“Jimin!” Y/N whined, abandoning the pile of popcorn and straw wrappers to face him entirely. She pouted at him and he could only shrug in response. “It’s so sudden! My mom is going to flip out when she finds out I’m going to leave for two weeks to go to Cuba with Doyeon and I didn’t even buy the tickets or hotel room!”
Jimin leaned against the counter with a pout of his own, causing Y/N to sigh and resume her sweeping. The lobby of the movie theater was mostly empty, closing time fast approaching. Jimin was one of the coworkers Y/N considered a friend, aside from the manager. The other was out due to a knee surgery and wouldn’t be back before Y/N left for good. She would definitely miss this place, but knew for sure Jimin and her manager, Yoongi, would keep her in the loop of the crazy stuff that happened in the theater.
“I think you should just go with it, Y/N. Enjoy it and relax before selling yourself away to corporate life forever.” Jimin gave another shrug before spinning on his heel to start cleaning up the copious amounts of leftover popcorn. The large room fell into a comfortable silence as the two went on with their usual duties for closing.
Y/N continued to wear her frown the whole time she swept, nearly grumbling to herself about her situation. It wasn’t even technically a problem, she knew that. Anyone would be lucky to go anywhere out of the country, especially somewhere warm and beautiful like Cuba. Part of her just felt bad that Doyeon had spent so much money to book everything for the two of them. Of course, Y/N knew it was cheaper for just the two of them then a group would’ve been. She also knew Doyeon wasn’t even using her own money. Doyeon’s parents were not only loaded, but they definitely spoiled the girl way too much. Which meant more money than Doyeon knew what to do with.
Doyeon, of course, had spent money on Y/N before. Against her wishes, of course. She loved spending the money she had, especially on friends and family. So, that meant Y/N often got presents of new clothing or accessories, even intimate clothing as well. There was a certain bra and panty set sitting in a box at the bottom of her closet she still hadn’t worn quite yet. To be fair, Doyeon had bought it for Y/N to wear with her ex boyfriend without knowing that they had split the night before.
Frowning as she thought of it, Y/N wondered if she should bring it with her on the trip to Cuba. Only then, she shook her head to erase the thoughts and groaned as she angrily finished sweeping up the lobby.
“Seriously, Y/N. Don’t be upset over this. Just go and have fun.” Jimin smiled as they stood back later on to watch Yoongi lock the doors, gently patting her shoulders as her body slumped forward. “So many people would kill to be in your place, so enjoy it! Live a little!”
“Go have fun where?” Yoongi grumbled a little as he approached them, shoving the keys into his pocket and leaving his hand there. Another groan left Y/N and Jimin couldn’t help his giggle as his hand dropped to his own side.
“Y/N didn’t tell you? Doyeon got them tickets for a trip to Cuba.” Jimin’s eyebrows wiggled and Yoongi whistled a little before stepping around them. Yoongi was not a fan of the cold and there was still a slight chill in the air as the night settled on them. “They’re supposed to go in June.”
“That sounds really cool, though. I’m guessing you don’t want to go, though?” Yoongi commented after Y/N had groaned once again. She sighed as the trio walked toward their cars parked a good distance away from the entrance.
“It’s not that I don’t want to go, I’d love to go. Cuba is such a beautiful country.” Y/N explained, only to sigh again as her shoulders slumped again. “I just hate that she paid for everything. I also will have even less time to prepare for my mom’s birthday and my new job.”
“Honestly?” Yoongi stopped walking as he reached his car, facing Y/N with a serious look. He was always serious, though, so his face just looked as it usually did. Y/N stopped walking with Jimin, the pair of them waiting to hear the wisdom that Yoongi had to give about her predicament. “Just go and live a little. Enjoy yourself and act like the young 20 something that you are.” He shrugged himself this time as Y/N groaned, Jimin laughing as he walked to his own car.
Y/N couldn’t help it as she stomped over to her own car, grumbling about people not caring about their financial situations and only focusing on their own freedom or lack of freedom. She needed to find people who sympathized with her and her struggles.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
“Why don’t they have a croissant?” Doyeon pouted at the menu, staring for a few seconds longer before completing the order that the pair had started at the breakfast place. Y/N yawned as they shuffled over to the side, waiting patiently for the food and drinks that they hoped to wake them up.
“I just wanted you to know that I hate you.” Y/N half hissed as they finally sat down to eat, placing her bag right next to her on the booth seat. Doyeon only giggled, taking a sip of her coffee before unwrapping her donut. Y/N had eventually accepted the trip, but when Doyeon had woken her up at 3 am for their 6 am flight, Y/N had gone back to hating the whole ordeal. Of course, Doyeon found it hilarious.
“You’re so cute before you wake up.” She cooed over her coffee, only laughing more at the finger that Y/N shot her way. It fell silent for a moment before Doyeon pulled out her phone to check things over one final time. “So, when we get there, we’ll just rest up. Tomorrow, we’ll go to the beach and do some shopping. The day after we’re going on that historical hike tour.”
Y/N zoned out as Doyeon rambled, sipping her drink and chewing her food as she people watched. Families bustling to find their gates and business people rushing to make sure their flights were still on time. People watching was nice, Y/N couldn’t say she hated it. It was only awkward when people stared right back at her.
Which was the case as her eyes flitted over to two business men and their frantic looking assistant. One of the men, the slightly taller one with black hair, turned his head and locked eyes with Y/N as she sat and chewed her food slowly. They were both entranced, not really paying attention to their surroundings. The result was the man running into a trash can at full force, knocking it over and eventually falling on top of it as it rolled around.
The loud crash knocked Y/N out of the trance and all attention was on the three standing by the trash can as several airport employees rushed over to help clean up. “That’s one way to wake up.” Y/N mumbled as she turned away, facing Doyeon once more with a smile. It was loud, sure, but it was funny.
By the time they were shuffling onto the airplane for the long flight ahead, Y/N was fully awake and ready to nap once more as the caffeine was starting to wear off a little. Doyeon ahead of her quickly found her seat, Y/N sliding in afterward as quick as she could. Doyeon nearly squealed once the plane started to move, gripping onto Y/N’s arm tightly as the plane took off and she knew then that it was way too late to back out now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
“Did you grab the sunscreen?” Doyeon called from the kitchen in the hotel room, a frown forming when Y/N called back a loud no in response. She sighed as she set her beach bag down once more to make sure it really was missing.
It had only been four days, the pair only having been to the beach three times in that time frame. One time wasn’t even during the day, it was at night. The bellhop who had helped bring their bags up to the room had raved about the crabs on the beach at night, so the pair decided to go crab hunting in the dark. It was eventful, to say the least. It didn’t explain the missing sunscreen, though.
“We can just get more at the convenient store on the way.” Y/N suggested as she emerged from the bathroom, placing her sunglasses on top of her head and looking at Doyeon. “Besides, I want to pick up some snacks from there. They have really good honey chips that I honestly think I’m addicted to.”
“Snacks do sound good. Okay, let’s go.” Doyeon quickly gathered her things and they were off to the store to get a plethora of snacks and sunscreen. With the needed essentials in hand, they headed to the beach to the spot they had chosen when they were there last. “I love it here, honestly.”
“I know.” Y/N groaned as she began putting sunscreen on her legs, pouting as she looked out toward the ocean. “I know I was having issues accepting the trip before we came but I don’t think I can leave now.”
“Maybe we can just move here.” Doyeon suggested as she turned around for help on her back, which Y/N quickly obliged to. Once they were all covered and protected, the pair sprawled out on their towels and let the relaxation set in.
On the way back to the hotel after spending all day in the sun, Doyeon hummed with happiness at the ice cream she was eating. “We should go out tonight.” She threw the suggestion out there after swallowing the bit of ice cream she had eaten before going back in for more. Y/N’s brows furrowed a little as she ate her own ice cream, glancing at Doyeon for a brief second.
 “You want to go out?”
“Yeah! While you went to the bathroom in that changing area, this guy came up to me and gave me this flyer.” Doyeon explained, rifling through her bag to pull out a bright blue flyer. “He said if we showed up tonight with this flyer, we could get in for free and get a free round of their signature drink.” Doyeon’s smile was wide as Y/N took the flyer from her hands. She looked over the blue paper with a frown, slowing her ice cream consumption before her shoulders were going up and down in a shrug.
“Let’s go! We don’t really have anything planned for the morning tomorrow, anyway.” Y/N explained before finishing off her ice cream and handing the flyer back to Doyeon. “Just that dolphin viewing thing in the afternoon that you wanted to check out.”
“If we get blacked out tonight, I promise I won’t be upset if we miss the dolphins. Let’s go get ready!” Doyeon squealed as she grabbed Y/N’s hand, dragging her back toward the hotel to get ready.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The club was packed, people already drunk and spilling out onto the sidewalk as they arrived. They were quickly let in at one glance of the flyer, and were just as quickly sipping on some fruity drinks once they were inside. With the music loud and alcohol slowly being pumped into her body, Y/N could feel the lingering stress that hadn’t gone away vanish with the pulse of the bass.
“This stuff is so good! I’m going to get some more.” Doyeon half yelled to Y/N before she disappeared, though Y/N didn’t stop her. Part of her wanted to get so drunk she couldn’t remember the night they had.
Doyeon seemed to have the same plan, as she came back with not only the fruity drinks but several shots of random liquor. Y/N didn’t question a thing as she quickly put them down, letting the burn sizzle for a few seconds before chasing it with another shot. Doyeon giggled at the face Y/N made after the fourth shot, sipping her drink fast.
As the music changed and the alcohol began to take effect, Doyeon dragged Y/N out onto the packed dance floor to dance with her. Somewhere along the line, more shots were offered and Y/N gladly threw them back without a question along with Doyeon. When she passed the shot glasses back, her eyes landed on a familiar face that recognized her, too. They were soon approaching her on the dance floor, squeezing through bodies to reach her.
The last thing she could remember clearly was warm hands finding a place on her waist and a warm body pressing against her back. Her face didn’t hesitate to break out into a smile as gentle lips began peppering her exposed skin with light kisses, the trail inevitably leading to her ear.
“You look stunning, doll. Mouth watering, even.” The compliment was a hungry whisper, followed by teeth lightly grazing her warm skin. It left chills running down her spine and subconsciously, her body leaned back into the other holding her by her waist. “It’d be a shame if you went home with anyone else that wasn’t me.”
“Is this your way of getting into my pants?” Y/N’s words were slurred as she clumsily spun to face him. Something about him was familiar but with her head clouded and the dark club filled with flashing lights, there was no way she could be sure. His face was handsome, though. Hair pushed back, eyes dark and looking like he really was going to devour her in seconds.
In answer to her question, he simply shrugged while smirking, leaning back in so he didn’t have to shout over the deafening bass of the music. “And if that’s my motive in the end? Would you really deny me the pleasure of tasting you and pleasuring you as long as you wanted?”
Her breath hitched in her throat at the suggestion, her thighs clenching together as the vague realization of just how turned on she was by that question surfaced in the fog. Y/N couldn’t hold back a whine at his suggestive words, her hands coming up to tightly grip his biceps.
“Well, it’s working.” She ended up huffing with a pout and he laughed at her expression. He was gentle the whole time he took her hand, leading her out of the club and to a car waiting by the curb outside.
Y/N didn’t think to ask where they were headed as she climbed into the back and immediately climbed into his lap. She thanked fate through her clouded judgment for swaying her to choose a shorter dress for the night, making it significantly easier for her to straddle him in the back of the car. His hands found her hips and without any hints needed, his lips collided with her own in an already heated kiss. Y/N vaguely wondered if the driver was paying attention to them but the thought slipped away as his hands began guiding her hips back and forth over his growing problem.
By the time the car had stopped at the hotel, the pair looked far too gone to have been simply just making out. Perhaps it was the alcohol in their systems but anyone who saw them knew for sure that they had either already had sex or were close to getting down in front of everyone.
He pulled her through the lobby quickly, pressing the button for the elevator and stepping in quickly. His hands continued to roam her body, slipping under her dress a little as the elevator climbed the floors up and up.
When they reached the room he was staying in, he dragged her quickly to his bed and pushed her back onto it. He slowed down finally when she was trying to catch her breath on his bed, slowly taking off her shoes before letting his mouth trail up her thigh from her knee. Her head lifted from the bed with a whine and his teasing ended as quickly as it’d started.
His tongue wasted no time with exploring her throbbing heat, circling around her clit before his lips wrapped around the bud. Y/N gasped, jolting from the sudden feeling of his lips. His fingers soon followed his tongue, slipping into her easily and setting a steady pace immediately.
It didn’t take long for her orgasm to explode through her body, loud moans echoing off the walls and surely disturbing the neighbors. He loved it, though, and made it known after his tongue gathered every last drop of her first orgasm of the night. “You’re so beautiful. You sound like an angel singing, doll.”
“Your tongue feels like the fucking devil, though. Holy shit.” Y/N panted as she sat up, making quick work of ridding her body of the dress still clinging to her. Her hands quickly found his zipper after her dress had been discarded, unbuttoning and pulling the clothing down so it fell around his ankles. “Maybe you’ll rethink the angel bit after I’m done.”
His teeth sunk into his bottom lip at her comment, sinking further when she solidified her insinuation of her more than unholy ways with a light kiss to his tip that was dangerously close to peeking out of his boxers. She let her tongue swipe over his clothed dick, smirking at the low groan she elicited from him.
Teasing wasn’t on the agenda, though, and she was quick to pull his boxers down and slowly wrap her mouth around his tip. His jaw fell slack as he watched her take him inch by inch until he was hitting the back of her throat. His fingers weaved into her hair as she pulled back off him, taking in a deep breath before repeating the same action again. When he tugged on her hair after a third time, she looked up at him while he was down her throat.
“Fucking hell, doll. Can I fuck your mouth? Will you be a good girl and let me fuck your mouth, doll?” His thumb came up to her cheek to swipe across it, a grin beaming as she hummed and nodded at him. His fingers returned to her hair after her consent and he held her head in place as his hips began to move back and forth, his dick slipping in and out of her warm mouth.
After a few short minutes, he was spilling into her mouth and moaning as he watched some of it dribble down her chin. His lips met hers and they shared another heated kiss before pulling away for air. They stared at each other for a few seconds, chests heaving from the recent activities.
“You are certainly no angel, doll.” He finally concluded, smiling as she giggled at the comment. His hands carefully cradled her face, eyes scanning every detail he could see as a smirk formed. “I’m certainly not done with you either, doll.”
“Good. I was hoping there’d be more.” Y/N leaned up to kiss him again, sighing in content when he pushed her back onto the bed. The night was going to be long and she was definitely ready for some fun.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The sun seemed to burn her eyes as consciousness found her once again. Y/N groaned as she rolled over to hide from the bright light, only to fall off the edge of the bed. Immediately, she was awake and alert, her head popping up to look around the room. Her things were on a chair in the corner, along with her clothes.
It was then that Y/N realized she was naked.
“Oh, what the fuck?” She sighed as she looked at the rest of the room. That was filled with various pieces of men’s clothing, like a suit. A suit? As the dots connected, shuffling came from the bed and a head of black hair poked out from underneath the sheets to look at her.
 “Well good morning.”
“So, we had sex?” It was the first question Y/N asked after being given coffee, which only happened after her initial freak out. She had justified it to the man, her reasoning being she was naked in a stranger’s bed.
“Yeah, we had sex.” The man chuckled, drinking his own coffee in the kitchen only wearing his underwear. Y/N couldn’t deny the man’s sex appeal, not in the slightest. It was like god had created him by hand, honestly. For once, Y/N was proud of her drunk self for scoring such a hot guy. “You don’t remember it?”
“I had way too much to drink. You weren’t like, sober, right? You didn’t take advantage of me or something weird?” Y/N nervously bit her lip as she watched him nearly choke on his own coffee. After a few seconds of trying to calm down, he eventually sighed and hung his head.
“No, I was definitely just as drunk. So it was a mutual drunk lust event.” He assured her and Y/N felt her body relax at the revelation. “I do remember it, though. For drunk sex, it was pretty hot.”
Y/N couldn’t stop a blush from forming and she only nodded at him, sipping on her coffee slowly. It fell silent between the two, the only sounds coming from the sipping of coffee. Y/N didn’t know what to say or do next, biting her lip again as she set down the empty coffee cup. Luckily, as she had noticed earlier, they were in the same hotel so going back to her room wouldn’t be hard. After chewing on her lip for a few moments, she finally built up the courage to speak.
 “So, um--”
 “Would you--”
The pair of them quickly shut up, blushing in embarrassment as they realized they’d spoken at the same time. After a few beats of silence, he was clearing his throat and Y/N looked back to see his neck and ears were a bright red still.
“I was going to ask if you’d like to get breakfast. You don’t have to say yes, though.” He quickly added and hung his head a little at the awkward blunder. Y/N shifted in her chair, chewing on her lip again before sighing.
“Breakfast sounds lovely, but I should go back to my room. I have no idea where my friend went.” Y/N explained and the man nodded with a warm smile. She was relieved he wasn’t taking the rejection hard, at least not outwardly. “Besides, I don’t even know you.”
He chuckled, opening his mouth presumably to give his name, but the sound of the door being thrown open made both of them jump. With wide eyes, a man in a suit came rushing in looking all around. When he saw the man he squeaked at him and then squeaked again when he saw Y/N sitting there with the empty coffee cup.
“Sir, the meeting is in an hour! You’re still naked!” The frazzled man whined and the other, who had taken a sip from his cup, set it down and nodded. “You need to get ready!”
“Don’t worry, Hoseok. I’ll be ready soon. Let me show the young lady out, first.” He gave a smile to Y/N before heading to the door. Hoseok only hung his head, taking a seat on one of the chairs scattered in the room, not acknowledging Y/N gathering her things or quickly scurrying off after the man at all.
When she reached the door, the man gave her a sheepish smile while his hand rested on the door knob. “I’m sorry our time was cut even shorter. This meeting is rather important, after all.”
“That’s fine. Good luck!” Y/N offered, smiling her brightest as he opened the door and let her step out. As she made her way toward the elevator, a shout made her pause and look back at the man still in only his underwear standing in the middle of the hall.
“My name is Jin. It was nice to meet you--”
Her smile grew wider as the elevator opened up behind her, sticking her arm over the door to hold it for a few seconds longer. “Y/N. It was nice to meet you, too.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------
“You can’t even remember?” Doyeon gasped quite loudly as they ate breakfast. Well, lunch, but it was breakfast for them. Doyeon had been passed out and sleeping quite deeply when Y/N had finally gotten back to their room. It wasn’t until about 1 pm when Doyeon finally rolled out of her bed and appeared in the kitchen for coffee. “Oh, man! You can’t even remember if his dick was big or not, how sad!”
“Well, from what he told me, it was really good. Even for drunk sex.” Y/N only shrugged and took another bite of the strawberries they’d gotten. Doyeon frowned but it was quickly replaced as she dove into a story about some man selling plush mangoes that she ran into on the way back. Needless to say, she now had two huge plush mangoes and one was for Y/N.
“Are you going to see him again? Jin, I mean.” Doyeon asked after a while, finishing up her coffee as Y/N only sighed.
“I doubt it. He’s in the same hotel and all, but that doesn’t mean I’ll see him again. Jin’s a busy man, from what it looked like.” Y/N frowned this time but Doyeon assured her that she’d catch another glimpse of the man at some point.
Y/N didn’t take Doyeon’s promise to heart, seeing it as wishful thinking. Doyeon had been begging for Y/N to date even a little bit for so long and was most likely just hoping some fantasy scenario would happen where they’d fall in love and get married or something. That wasn’t likely but it was only three days later when Y/N was thinking maybe Doyeon’s fantasy for her wasn’t too far off the mark.
“I didn’t think I’d run into you here.” The sudden shade and voice caused Y/N to peek her eye open, sitting up after registering who it was and smiling a little. Doyeon was soon to follow Y/N’s lead, eyes a little wide at the man seemingly looming over them.
“It’s a small world after all.” Y/N shifted on her towel before motioning to her side. “This is my friend, Doyeon.”
Smiling, he gently took her hand and shook it with a gentleness that left Doyeon blushing. “Ah, the friend who had possibly disappeared! I’m glad you found her.”
“She was actually sleeping in the room when I got there. How’d your meeting go?” Y/N asked and watched as Jin took a careful seat on the end of her towel to continue chatting more comfortably. After a few moments of light chatter, Jin sighed and glanced at the way he had come.
“Would you ladies like to come to our tent? We have a bunch of food and drinks there. There’s better shade under it, too.” Jin chewed his lip a little after he asked, and Y/N couldn’t help but find it endearing. She looked over at Doyeon, who was frantically nodding at her to accept.
His tent wasn’t far from where they had been, reaching the moderately sized shelter in no time. Jin held the flap open for both of them, stepping inside afterward with a smile directed at the other men relaxing under the tent.
“Usually when people go for walks along the beach, they find shells, not women.” One of the men commented, making the others chuckle as they eyed Y/N and Doyeon. Jin laughed along, carefully pulling Y/N into one side of himself and Doyeon into the other.
“I think these two ladies make up for any shell I could possibly find. Gentlemen, meet Y/N and Doyeon.” Jin introduced, letting the information sit for a few seconds before introducing the men in the tent. “Ladies, these fine men are Taehyung, my business partner, Jaehyun, another business partner, Jinyoung, Jaehyun’s assistant, and Hoseok, Taehyung and I’s assistant.”
Y/N awkwardly waved at the men and things quickly settled back to a more comfortable atmosphere as conversations resumed. Jin carefully led Y/N over to the food and drinks, his smile still on his face and looking quite dazzling, if she was being honest.
“I’ll apologize in advance if any of these guys get boring. Our business lives take up a large portion of our time so it happens to be what we talk about the most.” Jin watched Y/N as she carefully picked up a snack, chuckling as she chewed and swallowed it then reached for more. She simply shrugged at his apology, though, flashing a smile his way as she ate another snack.
“Business is going to be something I become very familiar with once I go home. So, it doesn’t hurt to start early.” She explained and Jin only nodded before he was pulled into a conversation by Jaehyun.
As the afternoon went on, jokes and laughs filled the tent while the sun dropped lower and lower into the sky. Eventually, Jaehyun and Jinyoung excused themselves for an event they had to attend, leaving the two ladies with Jin and his partner and assistant.
“Listen, there’s this party tonight, it’s on a partner of ours’ yacht.” Jin explained as it started to grow a bit cooler everywhere. “It’d be really awesome if you ladies could join us.”
“Oh, that’d be wonderful! Definitely would liven up the party.” Taehyung smiled, winking at Doyeon and causing her to blush. She made eye contact with Y/N and with a smile, they both nodded.
“Great! Wear something more on the formal side. It’s not a black tie event but it’s definitely on the classy side.” Jin said before they parted ways in the hotel lobby.
As the elevator doors closed behind the girls while they walked down the hallway to their room, Doyeon couldn’t help but gasp a little in shock. “We just got invited to a fancy boat party.”
“One of those businessmen winked at you.” Y/N stated and Doyeon scoffed as she rolled her eyes.
“Yeah? Well, you slept with one of them.”
“Fair point. Let’s go; I call shower first!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The soft lights that twinkled along the railings outside of the boat reflected off the warm ocean water below and made everything around look like it was glowing. To say it looked magical was an understatement. Doyeon and Y/N were breathless as security let them onto the boat, their eyes both wide and absorbing all they could of the large vessel.
“You ladies look gorgeous!” Hoseok greeted them as they stepped inside the boat, his smile large and inviting. A comfort among all these fancy looking people, Y/N realized. They followed him through the people, heading right for a table toward the back. Jin was there, a seat next to him on either side with another empty seat next to Taehyung. The rest of the table was filled with various men and women, colleagues of Jin’s that he was close enough with to joke around.
As they approached the table, Jin’s eye caught Y/N and his smile grew larger as he took her in. He quickly ushered the ladies over to their side of the table, Doyeon taking the seat next to Taehyung as Y/N got comfortable next to Jin. The table dissolved into idle chatter among everyone as the Y/N adjusted in her seat.
“You look absolutely gorgeous, Y/N.” Jin’s breath fanned across her neck, making her swallow thickly. She had picked a red shimmery dress, not knowing why she’d brought it at first but now thankful she had. When she glanced up at Jin, he was smiling but his eyes hid something and it was only after his attention was pulled away for a brief second that she realized it was lust.
A chill ran down her spine at the thought, teeth finding purchase in her bottom lip as her thoughts began to run in a frenzy. Was he really giving her such a look earlier? Sure, they’d slept together once, and he was the one who had remembered everything. But would he really give her that kind of look with so many people around?
Her thoughts disappeared as soon as food arrived and her attention was brought to the food and table conversation. Y/N realized she had met Jaehyun and Jinyoung already, easily falling into a conversation with Jinyoung about nonsense things. By the time dessert rolled around, the comfort Y/N was feeling had grown immensely.
It was only as she took a spoonful of the pudding placed before her that her body was freezing up and screaming at the sudden sensation. Jin’s hand rested on her thigh under the table, out of view of everyone around them. He didn’t move it, only his thumb brushed the bare skin of her thigh slowly back and forth. It took a lot of strength to relax again, the pudding on her spoon finally finding its way into her mouth. Butterflies were erupting when his hand slowly moved up a few inches, pushing her dress up that much further. People had to know what was happening, that Jin was touching her under the table like this.
Nothing further happened as dessert finally came to a close and people began to branch off and explore different parts of the boat. Y/N nervously followed after Jin as he asked her for a walk along the deck, her face feeling hot with the lingering touch he’d left only moments before.
The night air was cool against her warm face as they walked, Jin occasionally greeting people that passed by. Eventually, they reached a fairly deserted part of the deck where none of the guests or crew seemed to be.
“You really do look absolutely stunning in that dress.” Jin commented as they stood near the rail, staring up at the stars above. Y/N blushed at the comment, opening her mouth to thank him, only for Jin to interrupt her and continue speaking. “I really couldn’t get the image out of my head of how you looked without anything on, though.”
Y/N’s breath hitched as Jin turned toward her, his eyes reflecting that look she’d seen earlier. It was dark, almost dangerous. It left a warm feeling tingling in her stomach as she took it in. “Really?”
“I kept thinking about how this pretty red dress would look as I took it off. As I pushed it off and kissed every inch of your body again and again.” Jin leaned closer as he lowered his voice, his lips brushing Y/N’s ear and setting her skin on fire. Her throat felt closed up, making it hard to voice how she wanted to feel his hands on her. She wanted to feel it all and remember every second of it this time around.
Carefully, she took one of his hands and brought it under her dress so he could feel her panties. “I want it too, Jin.” Y/N whispered and she shivered as he growled in her ear. His fingers carefully maneuvered her panties aside, toying with her clit before sliding into her slowly. She couldn’t help the whine that escaped her and she quickly grabbed his arm to stop any movements he made. “I-I want more than that, please.”
Jin nearly came at her plea, a soft moan leaving him as her hands reached out to shakily undo his pants. Beating her to it, Jin was pulling them down far enough to pull his dick out and was quickly pushing her dress up while holding her leg up and wrapping it around his waist.
“I want you to be quiet, darling. We can’t have anyone finding us over here, yeah?” Y/N nodded her head and quickly slapped a hand over her mouth as Jin pushed her panties aside and slid into her with ease. He stilled when he was fully inside her, his forehead resting against her shoulder for a few seconds as he tried to calm down some. “Fuck, this feels even better sober.”
Y/N only whimpered in agreement, pressing her hand hard against her face as he began to move his hips expertly. She couldn’t deny that the feel of his dick inside her was the best feeling she’d had in a long while. She hated that she couldn’t remember what it felt like the first time it was inside her but the thought quickly left her mind as he began to pick up the pace of his thrusts.
“J-Jin--” She gasped between her fingers, blushing at the volume of her voice. He only smirked, his fingers digging into her leg and hip as he held her against the rail of the ship. “P-Please, harder.”
“My angel wants it harder, does she?” Jin smirked a little as his hand on her hip slid down to her clit, his thumb carefully rubbing the small bud as he slammed into her more forcefully than he had been. Y/N couldn’t help the loud moan that escaped her at that point, her orgasm so close that her senses were failing her. With a few more thrusts, her head was falling back and she was staring at the stars above them as her orgasm washed over her. Jin was close behind, burying his face in her neck as he spilled into her.
They stayed like that for a few minutes, letting the atmosphere settle down around them. Jin was the first to move, pressing a light kiss to her neck before he carefully pulled out of her. He smiled at Y/N as he then cleaned her up gently, wadding up the tissues he had used and throwing them away in a nearby trash can.
The silence that enveloped them was comforting, instead of awkward or embarrassed. When Jin came back over to Y/N, he was quick to wrap his arms around her and stare out over the ocean with her doing the same. The warmth of the breeze tickled her cheeks and Y/N smiled and let her head fall back against his shoulder.
“At least this time you got me dinner beforehand.” Y/N quipped and Jin laughed while nodding. The rest of their time up there was spent staring at the stars and dark ocean water, quiet conversation flowing like a waterfall between the two as they stayed in their own little version of reality for a short time.
It was only when the boat was docking again and they were standing on shore again that Jin promised he’d see her again. Y/N left him with a kiss that solidified that promise that  they’d meet again for sure, like he had said.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
“Are you all packed up?” Y/N watched as Jin pulled on his boxers that had been on the floor, shoving his shoes over toward his waiting luggage. The answer was obvious, but she wanted to fill the space with something before she’d have to leave. The word ‘goodbye’ was leaving a bitter taste in her mouth as it tried to crawl up.
“I finished before you came over, except a few things. I’ll get those in the morning.” Jin explained before climbing back into bed next to her. His arms wrapped around her, only humming in content when she was flush against him under the sheets. Y/N smiled at the gesture, wiggling closer and sighing in content at the warmth he radiated.
Silence fell over them, sleep evading both of them as their thoughts ran wild. Like Jin had promised, since the night of the yacht dinner, they’d met up quite frequently. It was almost scandalous, Y/N had said one night after they had messed around. They were almost sneaking around even though there was no need to.
They didn’t always just have sex, though. Y/N was thankful that sometimes when they met up, Jin would take her out for dinner or shopping or something. Almost like cute dates.
That was the catch, though. They were almost like dates, almost like lovers enjoying a vacation together. Y/N had told Jin before that a relationship wasn’t what she wanted, she couldn’t have one. Her career was important to her and Jin had said he understood that completely. Y/N wasn’t so sure if he really did.
The silence only lasted a few minutes longer before Y/N was sighing and wiggling out of his hold and out of the bed. She avoided looking at his face, knowing he probably looked hurt to some degree. Her heart was already screaming at her for leaving but it needed to be done. She couldn’t stay with Jin forever.
“Where are you going?” Jin’s voice was quiet, almost like he was afraid of it breaking if he spoke any louder. Slipping her underwear back on, Y/N finally looked back at him with a pained looking smile.
“I have to go now, Jin. I can’t stay the night.” Y/N forced herself to look away as she searched for her shirt, slipping it on next. She was hoping this would be painless, quick. She wanted a shower and some sleep tonight before her flight home, after all. “My flight is really early tomorrow.”
“Well, you’re all packed, right? You could just stay here and I’ll help you wake up--”
“Jin, no. I can’t.” Y/N sighed and she’s holding her shoes when she glances at him. It was a mistake; she realized too late that she should’ve avoided looking at him all together. He looks so hurt, like Y/N was almost ripping a piece of him out and taking it with her. Maybe she was, after all.
“Well, at least leave your number or email or something. I don’t want to lose you forever.” Jin pleads with her, almost desperate sounding. Y/N guessed that he was desperate, though. His eyes looked like they were glistening in the moonlight seeping in through the blinds. “I want you in my life.”
“Jin, you know that I can’t involve myself with anyone like that. I have a career to focus on and so do you. Please, don’t make this harder than it already is.” Y/N takes a step toward the door, looking just as pained as Jin looks. He scrambled from the bed, approaching her and stopping a few inches away.
“This can’t be goodbye. Please, Y/N…” He trailed off, his voice quiet again like it had been earlier. Y/N looked away, looked down at her toes and then at the carpet. Anywhere but him. The tension was stifling and when she finally opened her mouth to speak, Jin interrupted her. “At least...can I kiss you one last time?”
It wasn’t a good idea, Y/N’s brain was screaming that but her heart won out this time. She gave a small nod and Jin carefully lifted her chin so their eyes could meet. Jin hesitated for a second before gently pressing his lips against hers. The kiss was bittersweet, soft and everything that Jin wanted to say shoved into one kiss. It didn’t last long, not as long as Jin wanted. Y/N was slipping out of his touch, out of the room, out of his life, sooner than he wanted.
Walking down the hallway, Y/N covered her mouth with one hand and her body silently shook with the tears she was trying to hold back. Her heart was shattering and it was strange, but not really. She only knew Jin for two weeks and yet she felt so much for him already. It was crazy, Y/N thought she had to have been crazy. This kind of stuff only happens in movies and cheesy romance novels; not reality where they lived and breathed and everything that happened with Jin was real. In the real world, Y/N knew that things weren’t a fairy tale and wouldn’t work out like Jin hoped or Y/N wished for.
Stepping into the elevator, Y/N let out a shaky breath and watched the doors close on the happiness that her heart finally found but was denied. She had a career to focus on, after all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Doyeon flashed Y/N another sad look as she made tea in the kitchen. The TV was set up for a movie, some random action film that Doyeon had wanted to see ages ago. Y/N was sitting on the couch, staring off into space and way more quiet than Doyeon had ever seen her.
She knew it had something to do with the handsome businessman that shall not be named. The morning they had to leave, Y/N had looked like a wreck. It was obvious she’d been crying all night and Doyeon didn’t need to be told what it was about. Or rather, who it was about. She just let Y/N rest on her during the plane ride back home and didn’t say a word.
It’d been two weeks since they had gotten home, and Y/N looked just as distraught as that morning. If Doyeon could only look into her brain, then she’d see the constant thoughts of Jin that ran through it.
Y/N didn’t know why her thoughts were so focused on Jin. They hadn’t known each other for longer than two weeks at most; so why was he still there in her mind? She couldn’t get over his smile, his laugh, his hands, the way they touched her. Y/N missed him entirely too much for someone that she only knew for two weeks.
Part of her regretted not keeping in contact with him. Maybe she should’ve given her number or something to him. It was cruel of her to just cut things off entirely. Y/N felt awful for hurting Jin like she had and wanted nothing more than to go back and perhaps fix things.
Her mind wandered to how things could have been if she’d just let herself be human. Having a relationship wasn’t evil, she knew that. Y/N even tried to reason with her mind that despite wanting a career and to be successful in the career of her choice, she could still have a healthy relationship.
The truth of the matter was that she knew that she didn’t have to push Jin away like she had; there could’ve been a healthy and great relationship there. Somewhere deep down, though, Y/N was scared. She was scared of being hurt and she didn’t want the hurt to consume her entirely. But maybe it already had consumed her.
The thoughts quickly disappeared as she furrowed her brows and tried to remind herself for the reason why things ended like they did. She had a job starting soon and didn’t need anyone getting in the way of her doing her best. Y/N needed to focus on the goal here and find her determination again to start a successful career.
That’s what ran through Y/N’s head as she stepped into the large building downtown three days later bright and early in the morning. Her nerves were chaotic as she nervously approached the receptionist sitting in the lobby of the building.
“Hi! How can I help you?” The woman smiled brightly at Y/N, pausing her typing to turn her focus all on her. Taking a deep breath, Y/N smiled back and tried to look more relaxed.
“Hi. I’m supposed to start working here today?” Y/N said more as a question than a statement that she was sure of entirely. The girl just nodded, though, turning toward her monitor and smiling wider after a few clicks.
“Y/N Y/L?” When Y/N nodded, the girl nodded quickly and began gathering papers. “It’s great to meet you! Welcome to the company, I’m Sooyoung! I’m the receptionist down here but I hope we can be friends!” She excitedly explained before standing up and rounding the desk. Y/N was quick to follow after her after she motioned toward the elevators.
“You’ll be working closely with the higher ups, actually! They’re waiting to discuss your duties in one of the conferences rooms on the 57th floor.” Sooyoung explained further before pressing the button. “I promise they aren’t that scary, really. Except Mr. Choi, he’s kind of creepy.” Sooyoung made a disgusted face but quickly replaced it with another smile as she faced Y/N. “It shouldn’t be a problem, though! I know you’ll do great.”
The elevator stopped with a pleasant ding, and Sooyoung stepped off as soon as the doors opened. Y/N followed, taking in the office scene of cubicles and miscellaneous typing filing the air. Sooyoung didn’t stop, though, and instead continued down a hallway to the right of the elevator. She turned right again after a while and when they reached the end of a shorter hallway, she stopped and motioned to the room on the left.
“Good morning Mr. Kim, Mr. Kim, and Mr. Choi! I have the new employee here with me!” Sooyoung called into the room, most likely offering them a smile before she dipped back out to hand the papers to Y/N. “Good luck, Y/N!”
Y/N watched her walk away and gulped a little before cautiously stepping into the conference room where the men sat, now silent. “Good morning.” Her voice was light as she bowed a little in respect before standing up straight.
The world froze as her eyes landed on the person farthest to the left at the end of the table. His body seemed to freeze, as well, though his colleagues didn’t point it out. Y/N almost forgot she was supposed to move until a few chuckles were heard.
“You can take a seat right here, Ms. Y/N.” It was Mr. Choi who spoke and Y/N could only nod at him. Forcing her body to move, she shuffled over and took the seat that he had motioned to moments before. “Welcome, officially, to the company. I know you applied for another position, but the three of us decided that you would fit better as one of our assistants. Specifically, mine.”
The words that they spoke after that seemed to go in one ear and out the other, which was an issue since Y/N needed this information to do her job. Luckily, Mr. Choi was nice enough to have a document detailing her duties clearly available for her.
“Any more information or work that comes up will just be explained as it comes.” Mr. Choi explained, smiling as he clapped his hands and looked at his business partners. “Anything to add, Kim?”
All eyes drifted to the left most person, who seemed to choke on air before shaking his head. “Welcome to the company, Ms. Y/N.” His voice was quiet and it was odd to hear. Y/N just nodded at him, muttering a thank you as the meeting came to an end.
Mr. Choi led Y/N to her desk as she gathered everything she’d been given. After showing her the desk she’d be using, which had a computer set up and was quite isolated near his own office, Mr. Choi disappeared into his office and left Y/N alone to get settled. Y/N only dumped her things off, making sure to grab her phone as she bolted for the bathroom.
Tears threatened to fall as she quickly locked herself into the bathroom once she found it, hands trembling the whole time she tried to dial the familiar number of her best friend’s phone. “Pick up, please.” She begged as the phone kept ringing constantly until a click was heard and relief flooded her system.
“Y/N? Are you okay? Aren’t you at work?” Doyeon’s voice crackled over the phone and Y/N couldn’t hold back the small sob any longer. Doyeon’s tone quickly changed as she heard it, dropping something that she was holding onto the counter in the kitchen, most likely. “Are you crying? Seriously, Y/N, are you okay? Are you still at work?”
“Doyeon…” She trailed off, sounding a little teary as she spoke. She was trying so hard to hold it back, not wanting to cry on her first day. But her heart was hurting from the unexpected shock she’d received only moments before. “Doyeon, how could I be so stupid?”
 “What are you talking about?”
“How could I not research just who owned this stupid company?” Y/N ignored Doyeon’s confused question, still rambling to herself before she sighed. Doyeon would have to know more of the story if she was going to get any comfort out of this panic call. “He works here, Do. Jin fucking works here.”
The silence that came from the other end of the phone was deafening until Doyeon was cursing in her ear. “Shit, Y/N. You fucked your boss…”
 “I know.”
 “Like, multiple times!”
 “I know.”
“And then totally ripped out his heart and threw it away like garbage.” Doyeon sighed as she fell onto the couch. Y/N scoffed at that, rolling her eyes even if Doyeon couldn’t see her.
“Thanks for reminding me, Do. Not like I wasn’t already reliving that the moment I saw him.”
“Sorry.” Doyeon sheepishly apologized and it grew silent again as Y/N chewed on her lip. This was quite the situation, not something she had expected in a million years. How was she going to survive working here? “What are you going to do, Y/N? Are you going to quit?”
Y/N thought for a moment before sighing. “No, I’m not quitting. I don’t have to work with him in close contact, anyway. So I should be fine...right?” Y/N’s voice sounded hopeful and Doyeon was nice enough to return that same hopeful tone in confirmation.
“You’re gonna do great, Y/N. I know that and you know that. All you got to do is just focus on your work. Do that and come home and then do it again.” Doyeon laid out, smiling on her end of the phone when she heard Y/N’s sigh. Even if she couldn’t see her, Y/N knew there was a smile on her friend’s face.
When Y/N finally returned to her desk, finding some reports and things to work on piled up on the surface, she put her phone away and sorted things out. Doyeon had reminded her that her priority was working, not some guy she hooked up with on vacation. Y/N just had to remind herself she could do this and that her past wouldn't get in the way of her job performance.
At least, Y/N hoped that things would go smoothly with Jin as one of her new bosses.

How I Planned My Wedding
Tumblr media
Hi guys! I realize this isn't normally the sort of thing I write. Usually, I write book advice that has to deal with writing, editing, publishing novels, and everything in between! But as I have recently been married, I thought I would release the secrets of dark magic I conjured in order to plan my wedding.
Tumblr media
1. Set a Budget
The first thing is first. Set a budget. If you ask yourself if this is really necessary, yes, it is. It is 1000% necessary. While you are setting a budget, I would also get a binder to make your wedding binder. Whether you want to or not, you are going to be purchasing a lot of things for your wedding, and it's best to keep all receipts together in case you need to return some things.
Now, as far as setting a budget goes, I just downloaded a free spreadsheet online and printed it out. If you don't want to print one out, there are a lot of websites that have online budgeting and spreadsheets. Weddingwire.com and the Knot App were especially helpful for me because they had super helpful checklists plus budgeting, registry trackers, and online RSVP. I kept budgets on everything I made. My printed budget looked something like this:
Tumblr media
I didn't use all of the spaces, but it at least kept me on track. The goal is to set the absolute most you are willing (and have the ability to) spend on any certain thing. This was sort of a game for me. I'd set the amount, and see for how much cheaper I could get it, with quality, in reason. Mine and Josh's total wedding budget was around 11K. I think we actually ended up spending around 7K. A lot of our services were gifts from friends, and for that I'll be forever grateful. Which brings me to my next point:
2. Find Talented Friends Who Are Willing to Help
I would first and foremost like to say that just because you have a photographer friend does not mean you should go up to said photographer friend and blatantly ask them to take pictures of your wedding for free. It's cheap and demeaning to them, especially if that is their only source of income, or if they work a job with low income. Even if they have plenty of money, they are not going to be willing to take 6-10 hours out of their day plus weeks in editing to take pictures of your wedding with no compensation. The same principle applies to other services. What I am meaning is to search out friends who render services, and ask them for quotes. In my experience, 9/10 times they cut us a deal or even offered the service for free as a wedding gift. If you are part of a church family, I would definitely recommend looking there first. In the spirit of the Lord, most people are more than happy to help you for free without you even asking. My church family is where my cake, sound, and officiant services came from, and they were all more than perfect. It's also worth noting that I tipped my friends anyway, even though they didn't ask to be paid, because I really appreciated their services (even though some of them returned the tips and refused any type of payment).
Tumblr media
The talented friend also applies to friends who have also been married before, who are good with money, or good with budgeting if you don't know where to start or how to begin.
3. Set a Guest List
When you are setting your guest list, it's important to remember that you don't have to (and probably shouldn't) invite everyone you have known since kindergarten or on your Facebook. The more people you have at your wedding, the more expensive it's going to be. In our case, if our guest list exceeded 100 people, our security cost would double, so I tried to keep it at a minimum, only inviting close friends and family. A lot of people didn't understand this, and you'll probably make a lot of people mad in doing so, but it was important for me to cut costs wherever possible. At the time I was financing an 11k wedding by myself on a 20k salary. Long lost cousin Susie wasn't a priority on my guest list. People I hadn't seen or spoken to in years weren't a priority. I gave my husband a pen and paper and told him to invite whoever he wanted, but he also understood that we were trying to save money. Every penny saved helped, and honestly, the day went by so quickly I don't even remember a lot of the people who were there. If people truly care about you, they'll understand that married life is hard and will be eager to help you in any way they can, even if that help is not coming to the wedding. Most of my friends and family were understanding when I explained to them that we didn’t have the money to invite everyone we wanted. And at the end of the day, it's your wedding, nobody else's.
4. Do as Much as You Can Ahead of Time
If you want to be so stressed out that you are incapacitated, then wait until the last second to book all of your services. I recommend, if you can, to book at least a year ahead of schedule. I didn't, and around four months before my wedding I was wondering how everything was going to get paid for.
You will end up financing a lot of things, especially the more expensive things. Unless you have boat loads of cash just laying around, of course, and a lot of places will turn you down if you don't have an adequate time frame to finance. The most important of these are the wedding ring, your catering service, the venue, the cake, and your wedding dress. A lot of DJ and music services will also require you to book ahead of time. We did, but I ended up stressing anyway because our DJ canceled on us 2 weeks before the wedding.
Tumblr media
The process of looking for these people is pretty straightforward. I just googled the service I needed and made inquiries until I found someone within my budget. The venue will be slightly different though, as you'll want to tour venues and see which best suits your needs. It's also worth mentioning that before you choose a theme for your wedding, look at venues first. I originally planned for us to have a vintage wedding, but then we got married in a barn in Texas, so it ended up being a country fall wedding.
Tumblr media
The very minimum amount of time you want to have for your dress is six months, unless you are having a friend or family member make your dress. Besides it taking a long time to pick a dress out (for some of us, anyway), bridal boutiques need time to clean and do alterations on your dress. I went with David's Bridal, but I personally wouldn't recommend them. The first time I picked up my dress from cleaning, I was deathly ill, I had to wait for 3 hours after they said it would be done, and when I picked it up and drove almost two hours home, I noticed the next day that my dress had oil stains all down the front of it from the sewing machines. They eventually fixed it, and my dress turned out to be gorgeous, but I would rather not have had that stress, especially when I was running fever and lost my voice. Not to mention the arm and leg I paid for my dress. I know a few who have had similar experiences, but I also know some who have had great experiences with David's Bridal. Either way, it's up to you.
Tumblr media
Weddingwire.com had some great timelines to follow for booking all of your services. If you are past the month mark for booking your services, don't worry about it. I did the bulk of my planning in the last 6 months of my wedding (not recommended).
5. Wedding Shower and Wedding Registries
I forget how early I made my registries. I think maybe 5 or 6 months in advance. Even if you are already living together and have house stuff, making wedding registries is a good idea because you can update all your stuff, or get new stuff that you've wanted for a while. People are going to buy you gifts regardless, so you may as well have lists people can shop from to avoid ending up with a bunch of duplicate gifts or useless stuff that will just sit in the garage or in the corner of the junk drawer in your kitchen for years to come.
I registered with a variety of places. Amazon, Target, and Walmart were my top choices. I would especially recommend getting an Amazon registry because a lot of people are last seconders, and prime 1 or 2 day shipping will still give them a way to buy your gift even if it is the last second. Amazon was my most highly trafficked registry. Walmart was second, but a lot of people don't like shopping Walmart online because it can take up to two weeks for items to ship, and even if you go in store, most stores carry different products. Just because they have it online doesn't mean every Walmart (or any Walmart near you) carries it. When making your registries, don't be afraid to put anything and everything you could possibly want or need on there. I wish I had put more stuff on mine because nearly everything got purchased. I amended my registries right before the wedding, but very few gifts were purchased at that time.
Tumblr media
Your wedding shower is typically two months before the wedding, around the same time you send out the official invitations. A lot of people I knew didn't know what a wedding shower was, so here you go: A wedding shower is an event where people bring gifts to the new couple to usher them into their new life together, helping them settle in. No matter what you do, weddings will end up being expensive, and if you buy couples gifts, even small ones, it helps them out a great deal in the long run by helping them save money on house things they won't have to otherwise purchase.
6. Wedding Day Preparation
Assemble a wedding day crew. Find people who are going to help you set up decorations, organize, direct, and put everything away once the event is over. It's easiest if you assign small duties to everyone who is helping you. I made lists of all my bridesmaids names, plus my grandparents, brother, parents, and aunt, who also came to help me set up. Under each name I wrote what I wanted them to do. It can be simple things like, “Decorate tables,”, “Set up head table,”, “Be in charge of handing out cake after the cake cutting,” or, “Decorate main stage.” Whatever small thing will make it easier for you, designate it to someone you can trust. My family was wonderful and helped me out more than I could ever thank them for.
I also had a table chart everyone could reference, so when we were moving tables and chairs around, everyone had a picture of what I wanted everything to look like so they knew what I wanted without asking me. It's also important to set a wedding day timeline. Even before the ceremony starts, you want to have given time frames for any activities, including decorating, salon trips for hair and makeup, a love note exchange, or whatever else you want to do before the ceremony and during it. Unless, of course, your venue let's you decorate the night before, which ours didn’t.
7. Last Bits of Advice
Your wedding day is going to happen one way or the other. Some things are just going to go wrong, and you have to let it happen and not worry about it. You're going to be married at the end of the day anyway.
Tumblr media
Do as much reading as you can on planning a wedding. Every little tip I read helped, and in the end, I think my wedding was perfect. The only thing I would have changed was shortening the ceremony a bit so we would have had more time for family pictures. The wedding itself ended earlier than I thought, but I wasn't going to complain. I was exhausted, and thankful to get to go to bed early.
Tumblr media
As my last piece of advice, turn your phone off on your wedding day and give everyone someone else's phone number to text or call for important questions. I designated my maid of honor for this task, but you could also use your mother or anyone else for this. Turn your phone off on your honeymoon too, or if you can't turn it off, don't answer text messages. And if you are that person who calls or texts on wedding day or honeymoon, unless it's of dire consequence, don't be that person.
Happy wedding planning!

Jun, do you think you could walk us through how you buy your doujins? I've been wanting to buy some kros doujins FOREVER, and I know there are multiple tutorials/advice online but I want to get advice from someone who's actually gotten their doujins successfully shipped to them! Is there a website you recommend using, or a tutorial online that you follow? Would appreciate it greatly ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
How I order doujinshis online?I’m always happy to help a fellow karaoso enthusiast! I hope you have basic knowledge of Japanese so you can navigate easily. Otherwise chrome automatically translating the site works too I guess.
This post may end up pretty lengthy since I babble a lot. So continue ahead only if you want to.
Many sites don’t do international shipping so you will need to find yourself a proxy service or a freight forwarding site. Freight forwarding is the cheaper option of the two. Tenso is a fan favourite it seems but I use TensoJapan cause the fees are cheaper. You’ll need to provide your ID verification to use either of their services though. As for proxy services. I’ll mention some later below. It seems TensoJapan also provides this service now. ^^
The sites I use varies. If possible I like to support the artist and use the link they provide in their pixiv post for that particular work. (Usually toranoana) However if it’s quite old, chances are that it’s already sold out.
Toranoana A great site to buy new doujinshis. It’s far the easiest site to navigate and has the best range in terms of new books. Most of the products also have the synopsis and a few sample pages as well! The go to place to really support the artist! This post explains really well on how to shop there! Really use that auto translation on chrome to your advantage if you need to! If you are soley looking for KaraOso djs, here has all the instock books for that pair. And here is the full list, although most are out of stock lmao. (good reference when you want to buy second hand books though!)
If you plan to use a freight forwarding service, you need to create a Toranoana account yourself. When you write in the detail, make sure to input the Japanese address that you were given for shipping details. For when Toranoana charges you for your order, it’s quite funny cause they charge you then return the money straight away (I guess it’s to check if your card works) and when your order is ready to be sent, they’ll take the payment properly. They don’t accept PayPal as payment though. So if you don’t have a credit card, you’ll have to use a proxy service instead.
For proxy service, try using the one toranoana is advertising at the moment, AOCS. AOCS creates a toranoana account for you when you register with them and also you don’t need to provide them your ID for verification! At checkout you just need to select the acos option for delivery! from here, AOCS will pay for your goods on delivery and send you an invoice. They accept PayPal as payment. Once that’s all paid up, they will send you your goods. :)I’ve tried it and yes, it’s very simple to use and convenient but the shipping is a lil pricey since they only send by EMS. Fast shipping though!
Pros:
Easy navigation. They have tags for coupling names and filters to narrow down your search.
Free domestic shipping if you spend over ¥9720.
Toranoana is fast with processing your order and getting it to your freight forwarder/proxy service.
Cons:
Once it’s out of stock, it’s gone. You can apply for a re-sell or set an notification alarm if it ever restocks.
A bit pricey because you pay for tax.
They may cancel your order if they notice you are using a proxy. I don’t know if they still do, it’s just what I’ve heard over the years. For sure tenso and tensojapan are in the green though!
Ok, so you really want a particular work by a certain circle, or just their works in general but it’s out of print…Usually this is the case for me when I see all those out of print djs on Toranoana…You can try your luck in 2nd hand stores! Or even Yahoo auctions.
Yahoo auctions would be the last place I’d go for, cause ordering from there can kill your wallet. Especially if you buy from different sellers. You’ll have to pay for domestic shipping on each of the auctions. There are proxy services designed for Yahoo auctions, but the one I have tried is DeJapan. Their service is good and their processing and shipping is fast too! My order came 3-4 days after it was sent! They only send by EMS though. Quite pricey but reliable. if you are still interested in purchasing osmt djs from yahoo auctions, try ‘おそ松さん 同人’ in the search bar.
MandarakeSells second hand goods. I like this site a lot! They do international shipping with several options too. So you can skip the whole middle-man business and having the option to choose for the slower, but cheaper postage. The search bar isn’t as friendly but if you know what you are after, or the circle you are interested in, then it’s a lot easier to navigate. Just be aware mandarake has different stores so if you end up getting anything from this site, make sure to check which store it’s in! Try getting all your items from the same store, otherwise you’ll be paying a lot for shipping!! When I make orders I like to at least group 5 djs from each store if I can’t get it all from the same store. But I LOVE their quality!! Their second hand stuff look pretty much brand new! Unless stated otherwise in their listing. I’ve had some djs where it didn’t even look opened!
Pros:
Usually cheaper than buying new.
Can find the older titles here.
Tax free.
Has English support and navigation.
Relatively fast processing time.
They send internationally!
Cons:
No consolidation. Each store=different order=more shipping cost.
Second hand goods. So it’s not brand new.
Price can be ridiculously expensive based on its rarity/popularity even though it’s not a new book. I actually bought 2 titles for 4k yen each when the original price is just over 1k. But I really wanted those books soo….I just bit the bullet lol.
SurugayaA real gem! ♡My favourite second hand store for djs~ Their navi is a lot better than mandarake and has way more items! This is the place to go for any rare goods~ here is the search page for karaxoso.
Did I tell you they have free domestic shipping if you spend over ¥1500?? That’s like $15 lol. They do however have a processing fee if your order is under 5k yen. It’s under ¥300 so still very cheap! Surugaya often have ‘time sales’ and campaigns too! So it’s good to keep an eye out. When you click on an item, there’ll be a red text saying “this product will have a time sale soon” if that’s the case. So if you time it right…maybe you can get it cheaper. But I had many djs go out of stock on me while I waited for a campaign to come (some items sell out within a couple of days) so I don’t risk it anymore if there are items that have only 1 in stock in my cart.
Also this is one of the stores where you can buy without a credit card and use PayPal instead! But if you are buying R18 goods, you can only pay by credit card. They don’t accept foreign credit cards apparently. I did have an order cancel on me when I paid by credit card and I got an email saying I used a foreign card and they can’t accept it. I’m still very gutted about that one. But I’ve also had successful orders using the same exact card…..so it’s really a gamble. PayPal as payment is friendlier I heard! But if you really want to buy r18 goods from here, may luck be on your side and hope they don’t detect your card. (or use a proxy service that allows you to buy R18 goods)
The other downside for this site is the waiting time. Surugaya also has many warehouses and so they have to wait for all the books to arrive in one place before they ship it out to you. But usually with my experiences it takes them about 4 days to complete my order and ship it out. But I did have orders take over a week to process before. As long as you don’t order during the busy times of the year it should be fine.
Pros:
Usually cheaper than buying new. (Most of the time the djs are cheaper than mandarake.)
Best range.
Often have sales and campaigns
Has English support (But they will answer in Japanese)
Free shipping on orders over 1.5k yen
Cons:
Slow processing time.
Like mandarake, some items are ridiculously expensive.
Your card may get declined for being a foreign card.
Note: Previously, I’ve noted you can use debit card as payment…but honestly? it’s kinda weird. From personal experience, make sure you have double the amount of money in your account of what you need to pay for. Until the day it’s ship it. Surugaya likes to take money from you…how should I say…twice(?). Like….how do I explain this…on the day you place the order, money is taken from your card. Your payment will appear as pending on your bank statement. But actually they don’t approve your payment until it’s all ready to be sent to you. On that day, they take the payment from your account again. Like. It’s weird. And if you don’t have that amount available on your card on that day, you get an email from customer service saying they couldn’t go through with the payment. That there was a problem. If you paid by paypal (using your debit card), they will retry the payment if you can provide them evidence that it wasn’t PayPal that made the error. If you paid by using credit card (with your debit) they will cancel your order since the only other option to send the money is by bank. So if you have enough money in your debit card to pay for your order twice, your payment will go smoothly. And that extra payment they tried to make? It won’t even appear on your statement lol. In the end that money isn’t taken from you, so don’t worry about them actually charging you twice for your order.I was so confused why my payments weren’t going through and I only found out by contacting both my card dealer and PayPal. I use my debit card for online purchases so I only put in the amount necessary you see…
Tldr; Surugaya tries to take money from you twice but only one goes through and you need enough funds for both in order for your transaction to go through smoothly if you are using your debit card.

How Post-Holiday Clearances Can Slash Your Budget All Year Long
The Simple Dollar, 26 Dec 2017
Today is that special time of the holiday season: the beginning of deep discounts on all the stuff that’s red, green, or gift-oriented. Everything must go! (If only to make room for Valentine’s Day items.)
Every year a lot of holiday stuff goes unsold, and the stores don’t want to hold on to it. Turn the retailers’ loss into your gain by stocking up not just on cards and wrapping paper, but also on other things you’ll use for the next 365 days.
Think it’s all dented dolls and tired tinsel? Some of it might be. But if you pick your spots, you can stretch your giving and household budgets further than you ever dreamed.
The following tactics can help. Although the stores will be crowded, the savings can be worth it.
Buy some clothes. Clearance prices will be available on both holiday-oriented and everyday winter fashions. (I know a woman who paid less than $4 for a dress in order to get its belt, since a new belt would have cost much more.)
If you have kids, buy clothes at least one size up, for next year. The longer you wait, the steeper the price drop--and the younger the child, the less the motif matters.
Buy next year’s holiday gifts. Some people do the whole next year’s worth of shopping on Dec. 26. That’s dedicated frugality.
And if that’s you, congratulations. Personally, I suggest looking for a few presents, as opposed to stressing out about it. Do what you can, rather than setting yourself up to fail.
Get birthday gifts. If you’ve got kids, assume they’ll be invited to parties in the year to come. Have games, stuffed animals, books, art kits, and such on hand, and you won’t have to make extra trips. Bonus: You paid rock-bottom prices.
Got nieces, nephews, or godchildren (official or honorary)? Buy toys for their natal day celebrations, too. If they were born in January, hit the calendar kiosk for a useful and potentially beautiful gift.
Stock an evergreen gift closet. As noted above, parents who have toys on hand are ready for the inevitable birthday party invites. But grownups have birthdays, too, so look for items like hat-and-scarf sets, picture frames, books, and accessories.
Treat yourself. High-end skin care kits and gift sets are deeply discounted after the holidays, according to Helene Massicotte of FreeToPursue.com.
“It’s a low-risk way to try new products and save significant money per ounce,” she says. “And just a few kits can last you for months.”
Foodie baskets and spa packages are all over the stores until Dec. 25--after which retailers can’t get rid of them fast enough. At half-price or less, treat yourself to something tasty or luxurious. Or you could…
Treat someone else. Food and spa packages make nice gifts for others, too. Your first-time-mom sister might love to plan a long, hot soak with frou-frou scents and fancy lotions to follow. If you live nearby, offer to sit with the baby while she locks herself into the bathroom for her first alone-time since parturition.
Remember, too that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. That basket of barbecue items or set of sybaritic potions might be perfect for Feb. 14.
Stock your household. Sheets, blankets and throws. Candles. Bakeware. Dishes. Table linens. Towels for kitchen and bath.
Paper plates and cups can become part of your emergency kit. Or use them at your next party or barbecue. Teresa Mears of Living on the Cheap says great January deals on red and green products work fine for informal parties the rest of the year, as long as you don’t use them together.
Storage containers, sometimes marketed as “ornament storage bins,” are deeply discounted after Christmas. Doesn’t matter if they’re red or green, or printed with wreaths--they’ll be stuck in the attic or the crawlspace where nobody sees them.
Stock your pantry. Holiday-printed paper towels, napkins, and storage bags and containers will be available at half-price or less.
Ditto certain baking supplies and food items, so check supermarket clearance bins for things like fancy coffee and tea, chopped dates and pecans, holiday cereal (yep, that’s a thing), eggnog-flavored pudding mix (not making this up), canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce, and black-eyed peas.
Even everyday products like coffee may be deeply discounted if it’s in holiday-themed packaging. And guess what, “Christmas blend” coffee tastes just fine in January.
Don’t forget the drugstore. Head for the “seasonal merchandise” aisles, advises Stephanie Nelson of Coupon Mom. You’ll see discounts of at least 50% the first few days, quickly followed by price cuts of 75% to as much as 90%.
Toys, gadgets, clothing items, and even small appliances will be remaindered. One year Nelson picked up a $40 blender for 75% off--and then sent in a $10 mail-in rebate attached to the box. “So my blender was actually free,” she says.
Linsey Knerl, who blogs at 1099 Mom, has five sons who use Old Spice body wash, deodorant, and other products. Last year she saved 75% on more than a dozen Old Spice gift sets. “I’m happy to go back again this year to stock up,” says Knerl, whose family owns a small farm in Nebraska.
Stockpile holiday supplies. Wrapping paper, gift bags, and ribbon. Ornaments, strings of lights, wreaths, and trees. Holiday cards. If you have a place to store even a few such items, pick them up at a discount and next year’s celebration will be noticeably cheaper.
Stockpile holiday craft supplies. Do you make your own décor or gifts? Buy the raw materials now, when everything’s being remaindered. Those snowman candy molds will cost lots more next November.
Look for open boxes. Starting today, people will clog the stores to return gifts that didn’t work out. This, too, can work in your favor.
According to Erin Huffstetler, frugal expert for The Balance, some “open-box” electronics and other returned items can no longer be sold at full retail.
“One man’s Christmas return could become your next big bargain,” she says.
More tips from the pros:
Do a major inventory of what you have, and write down what you need. Pay attention to that list.
Well, most of the time: If a deal is just too good to pass up, get it. That $10-but-actually-free blender is a good example.
Get there early, because the good stuff might go quickly. But if you can, revisit the stores in early January. Those 90%-off sales should start kicking in by then.
If you’re apt to overbuy, bring only as much cash as you can afford to spend, and leave the plastic at home.
Know what things usually cost. If something was marked way up in anticipation of the holiday, then half-off still isn’t that great a deal.
As always, if you don’t need or can’t use it, then it’s not a good deal.

a very basic guide on how to find doujin in tokyo
i went to japan recently and i love doujin so i spent a lot of time hunting around for them. i felt like writing about it, so, here's my write about how to find/buy doujin in tokyo if you have absolutely no idea how to do so :)
disclaimer: this is current as of sept. 2017. i write this from a foreigner's perspective, and also from scrambling together a lot of here-and-there online resources and personal observation. so, it's very likely that i've gotten some language/cultural things wrong, this is just meant as a post for someone who knows absolutely nothing and also meant as a memory helper for me personally lol. if i do get something wrong, feel free to correct me ^^
why buy doujin in japan?
probably the main reason would be that it's MUUCH cheaper. recently-released doujin cost around ~¥800 to ~¥1500, whereas older works can be ¥400, or even ¥200 each if your pairing isn't that popular. in the US, in my experience, doujin can cost $20 (or ~¥2000).
(as a note, some doujin are at a premium — for example, works by 3745 house are ¥2000 each, and i also saw some gearous art books for ¥5000.)
i also enjoy the treasure hunting aspect. being in the tg fandom and being weirdly fond of rarepairs, i felt really excited every time i came across kaneki/touka or even ones like tsukiyama&hinami, tsukiyama&kanae, tsukiyama&nishiki 😲
some stores allow you to buy “tax-free” as well if you have a non-japanese passport with a temporary visa (i think this is the kind of visa you need). for example, in mandarake, if you spend over a certain amount (¥5000~¥5400) then they'll refund you the sales tax. they staple a little customs form into your passport which can theoretically be checked by an officer who will make sure you have everything you bought in your possession and weren't buying it for a citizen. but, no one has ever actually like gone through every doujin title that i bought (thank goodness, honestly). you can remove this customs form when you depart japan.
where to get doujin
here are the “must-hit” stores!
mandarake
in case you don't know already (i certainly did not for a long time), mandarake is a good store to search for doujin! they sell a variety of used/new anime/manga/idol goods, and have shelves upon shelves of doujin, usually with “women's sections” (containing mostly BL) and “men's sections” (containing what you might think of as, like, “hentai”).
in tokyo, there are at least four “major” mandarake locations —
akihabara
contains the super large multi-level complex with a whole men's floor and a women's floor, as well as other floors for toys and stuff. this location isn't far from the JR akihabara station.
ikebukuro
contains a smaller mandarake which is very women-focused, with no “men's section” that i can remember. this particular location is beside a lot of k-books stores which contain merch and more doujin.
nakano
also accessible by JR rail, and a short distance from the station, through nakano broadway. i think this is the “flagship” mandarake, and there are like seventeen stores in one mall-like setting, nestled beside other goods stores, some of which also have doujin. the women's and men's sections are in separate rooms and i had good luck here finding other merch.
shibuya
the smallest mandarake of the ones listed — with more of a focus on retro toys, though there's tons of doujin and idol stuff here too.
(as a sidenote, i also went to osaka, where there are two mandarake. one of them has a live stage where the women's section is. the other organized their doujin in a way that i couldn't quite parse and was too shy to ask about.)
k-books
in ikebukuro there are like TONS of different kbooks buildings so be sure you're visiting the right one! each kbooks is a “something館” which means “something building.” for example, “コスプレ館” or “cosplay building” has a lot of cosplay stuff, there’s also a “games building” which contains games merch like from pokemon, etc.
for doujin, go to “同人館” or “doujin building,” which is on a road called “otome road” (and also has the mandarake nearby underground! also — there’s also a “k-books athlete building” near here which contains only stuff from sports anime! which is separate from the other one that has mercy for other anime. last time i was there it was half yuri on ice, haha.)
in k-books, you can get a points card for ¥100 which lets you accumulate points to get other goods when you buy stuff, idk. i didn’t actually research this that much because i ran into it only on the last day. seems useful tho!
melonbooks
honestly, i don’t know that much about melonbooks. the ones that i’ve visited were in nagoya and ikebukuro and they felt more “men”-centered. it seems there can be melonbooks-exclusive doujin here. could be worth checking out if you see one. my impression was that it sells stuff that is popular or recently released. if you are squicked by hentai, be warned that in certain “men”-centered areas they play it on small monitors.
tora no ana
i visited only a couple of these so i don’t know that much either, but my impression was that like melonbooks it sells stuff that is popular or recently released. anyway it’s probably worth looking at too! if you are squicked by hentai, be warned that in certain “men”-centered areas they play it on small monitors.
i was on the hunt for TG stuff mostly which isn’t incredibly popular right now, so i wasn’t as interested in tora no ana. (regarding tg, however, i think wherever you go you can probably find tsukikane.)
general tips before you set out
these are good things to get in order before you go hunting!
know what you’re looking for, specifically. if you’re looking for something specific, think get the title, maybe a photo of the cover, the artist name, and the circle name. make sure that you know the artist/circle name as it’s written in japanese (whether by kana, kanji, or roman characters). also make sure that you know how the japanese ship is spelled.
know what you’re looking for, generally. if you’re not looking for something specific, think of all the possible series/games you might be interested in. i went out for TG but then circled back to all the stores once i realized i really wanted to find something by mikami takeru, lol. (also, if i had done my research beforehand, i would have known that what i wanted was a certain mikami takeru anthology — instead i was a fool and ended up buying some doujin, and then ALSO buying the anthology when i found it later, and doubling up on some stories 😭). i also ended up in doujin sections for “games” and realized i was also kind of interested in phoenix wright and persona 5 and odin sphere. anyway, it’s just good to know ur facts beforehand.
know the store opening/closing hours and days. they tend to open kind of late, like around noon, and are open until later, like 8pm or 9pm. stores in japan tend to be closed on tuesdays (which can affect your overall plans). idk it’s just probably good to confirm things. also, it can be really small quarters in doujin stores, so consider going during weekdays when it will be quieter and easy for you to move around.
if you’re not familiar with the japanese alphabetical order, keep a copy with you. since things are arranged alphabetically and all that.
bring your passport! for the aforementioned sales-tax-free shopping.
how to find doujin
every store is kind of different. but, generally, if you’re in the “women’s section:”
there will be a small area for newly-released stuff for popular series, like doujin that just came out during recent events, ex. natsukomi. this area is fun to browse because the doujin covers are facing outward and there are small “sample” prints on the back that show more of the art style. older works are shelved normally and all you can see is the cover art. (all doujin are sealed in plastic which you can’t open in store.)
it’s also likely that there will be separate sections for overall genres — anime, games, “western” (like sherlock), jump series (ex. shounen jump, young jump).
popular series (which right now are yuri on ice, osomatsu-san, haikyuu, gintama, jojo, etc.) will often have their own “major section” after that, with lots of shelves devoted to them.
i wish i had a picture of this but i don’t, so just imagine shelves packed with doujin with little manilla folder tabs sticking out, haha. for less popular series, the series name will be written on these tabs. series will be listed in alphabetical japanese order.
within series, things will be organized by ship, which will also be in alphabetical japanese order. if the circle is popular, it will also likely be listed in a tab.
when you find the tab you want, the doujin pertaining to that tab will be listed to the RIGHT of the tab. keep searching shelves from left to right, up to down.
also — these stores can be overwhelming in their density of doujin. if you don’t really want to spend a lot of time searching, feel free to just ask somebody about it. i just said something that was probably silly like tokyo ghoul no doujinshi arimasen ka or tokyo ghoul no doujinshi sagashitemasu ga…. and an attendant will lead you to the section. while i was furiously battling my social anxiety i saw another foreigner just bust into the store with a picture saying “KONO MANGA ARIMASU KA?” and she got her answer and led to her desired location immediately, so, there you go.
for a not-as-popular fandom like TG, the sections in stores tended to be very small. the majority of it was tsukikane, but i crawled through everything anyway, and did in fact find like THREE WHOLE KANETOU doujin tucked away in there!! anything that wasn’t tsukikane (which tended to be arisasa and utayomo) was basically listed as “その他” or “other pairings.” if you’re looking for TG and are an english-speaker, it might help for you to look for TYUUNI! which is a popular circle and easier to spot than trying to read all the japanese. again, though, if you’re having trouble, don’t be weird like me, just ask.
this might also be a “duh” kind of thing, but, doujin with nsfw content will have “R18” somewhere on the cover. also, ships included in the doujin are often listed on the back. this doesn’t really help you when you can’t open doujin packs, but i noticed that some doujin recently have been including content warnings in the beginning that are like, “this doujin contains arisasa...it starts maybe looking like it might be sasa/ari, but it’s arisasa! if you don’t like this, please close the book.” idk if you are in a situation where you CAN open the book and read japanese and are squicked by pairings/certain content, maybe this will be valuable information 4 u.
general tips while searching
in stores like mandrake, there are footstools that you can use to access higher shelves, but it’s generally bad to use these for sitting. if you do this someone will probably ask you to stop, haha.
in stores like mandarake, there are also glass “showcases” (ショーケース) which generally contain nice merch but can also contain doujin. i went through a lot of trouble to find a mikami takeru anthology only to buy it and then walk out and realize there was one right in the store window for a slightly different price! it turned out the conditions of the two were different (with the display version being more expensive because it didn’t have a crease) — but maybe you care about creases! idk! check the showcase!
i’m pretty sure most stores have shopping baskets, if you see one you can take it to help carry your loads of doujin u are gonna buy.
also be careful about if stores would prefer that you make your purchase on each floor, rather than taking your unpaid-for goods to a different floor.
if you need to get past someone, you can say “sumimasen.”
it’s possible that different versions of the same doujin will come with different promotional material too, like an extra little flyer or something.
mmmm, that’s all i can think of now, will probably add some more later.
if you’re going be able to hunt for doujin soon — good luck/have fun! if not — i hope you get the chance to!

5 Simple Tips to Help You Make a Budget for the Holidays
Tumblr media
Planning the holidays budget
The holiday season is that time of the year when everyone wants to give the best gifts. This can only happen if you spend some money and this can be a little tricky for some of us. This season of giving is basically the season of spending and this article should come in handy for helping you make a budget. We need to organize our finances in order to please others, but also ourselves. It can become quite difficult to choose the best gift, but there are several ways to take the stress out of the holidays. Decide to make the budget for the holidays ahead of time. You can start out no later than November, as this is a sure way to let go of stress during this time of the year. Apart from lessening your stress, it will prevent overspending and making other debts this holiday season. Understanding what a budget is One way to describe it is that it represents a powerful tool. Better said, it can become one if you understand how to use it in your own best interest. We all know that the holiday season can come with many temptations. We might be willing to spend more than we can afford just to keep that jolly vibe going on. However, remember that what you seed now, you’ll harvest in the future. Nobody wants to borrow money now and make a lot of efforts later. Deciding to create a budget for holidays is an essential step in the process of understanding where your money goes this holiday season. It’s also a way of improving your financial situation, even though this time of the year almost begs for more spending than usual. So a budget can be understood as an overview of your income versus your holiday expenses. It’s a plan that anybody needs in order to be aware of how you get to spend your finances on various gifts, for instance. In this context, a budget can help you not forsake your finances. It can give a hand in helping you achieve your money goals, even thought this time is a time of giving. Nevertheless, it can be also a time of enough caution so that you don’t have to ‘suffer’ later on in January. How can you make a budget plan? There are many ways to go about how to make a budget for the holidays season. We believe that the most important idea to keep in mind is to really go to the core of what the key elements of the budgeting process are all about. These are techniques that anybody can implement and they can do wonders. Once you get to master them, at least at a basic level, you will be able to put them into practice. So, a stepping stone for creating a budget for the holiday season is becoming aware of your spending habits. Be honest and put on paper what you spend most money on. Ask yourself if this really helps improve your life. If not, then that is something you need to work on. However, this is only a small part of the simple, yet meaningful process of budgeting for the holidays. Keep on reading to learn more about our 5 simple steps. Anyone can use them, but it’s all about having the will to do so. Step 1: understanding your income A first thing you need to do is to list all your income sources. Do it on a monthly basis, after taxes are paid. We recommend that you start with a monthly overview, which is easier because many bills take place once a month. You can break it into smaller chunks afterwards. Now, there are people who work on a regular schedule, without having any other side hustles. Such employees get paid monthly with the same amount of money, leaving aside any possible bonuses. For them, just a look at their bank account or payslip can help them understand their monthly income. For freelancer, on the other hand, things are different. They may have a lot of work this month, but the next can be emptier. These irregular work and payment patterns can complicate things. A good method to look at your freelancing finances is to account for your average income over the last 6 to 12 months. It all depends on how seasonal your work is. This step helps a lot in understanding how much money you are able to spend, knowing where they come from and in what amount. Step 2: list all your bills It’s very important to be aware of all the money you spend on bills. Making a list of your regularly occurring expenses for each month plays a major role in making a holiday budget. For instance, write down how much of your income goes for rent, mortgage payment, utilities, phone bills, transport, food, fitness, and other stuff you monthly spend on. If you have a pet, there must be a monthly amount of money that you spend for food or other health related needs. For some, clearly knowing how much money are spent for each category can be hard. A good way to know for sure is to check your last three months of bank and credit card statements. Moreover, there are many bank apps that help with breaking down automatically your expenses by category. Well, talk about the perks of living in these days… Step 3: do the math! Once you know how much money you spend on bills and other similar monthly expenses, it’s time to do some math. Just a little, don’t worry! What you’ll need to do is to extract your income from your regularly expenses. This way, you’ll get an overview of how much money you’re left each month. Remember: any money you’re left over with at the end of the month can be put aside for your holiday budget. This reminder is especially important for those that have a lower income than their expenses. For those lucky ones, who are left with more after paying bills and the like, they can breathe a sigh of relief. Step 4: readjusting expenses If you are one of those that are left with not much at the end of the month, then it’s time for a serious readjustment. You can go check again your expenses and give up those that really don’t help you. Maybe you can find a way to cut some of them of. Be honest and try to understand that if you are spending more than you earn, this should be a sign. Living beyond your means is not helping on a long term and it’s definitely not helping you create a holiday budget. Some drastic changes might be required, but it’s for a good cause, don’t you think? You deserve to have the best holidays! Now, as you are ready to make a change, ask yourself these questions: Is it enough the amount I’m saving? Is more money going on things that I don’t really need, like eating out?Do I intentionally spend my money? Once you have answered these questions, make a list of all the people you want to gift these holidays. Also, you should know exactly what you will buy for each. The most important part of this is to stick to your list. Don’t make any impulse or last-minute additions. This can seriously put a dent in your budget, no matter how much time you put into making it. Just stay true to your list and your budget for each gift. In the end, all that matters is the gesture, right? Step 5: try the 24-hour rule We did mention to stick to your list of gifts, but if any adjustments are still to be made, try this 24-hour rule. For some people you might think that an expensive gift will suffice, but what if you’d sleep on it? Better said, what if you’d sleep on the entire list you made? Just take some time and think it over. For instance, maybe you see an expensive product that could really please one of your loved ones. However, don’t jump right on buying it on the spot! Let some 24 hours go by before you decide that it’s really worth your money. The same goes for online shopping. Put in the shopping cart all the items you prefer and leave them there for a day, but don’t check out. Make your final decision the next day, after you’ve given it some thought. Who knows, maybe this wait is worth it, as you may get a good deal or sale with some of your chosen items. This whole process boils down to the idea that any initial excitement about a certain product wears off. You might even realize that you don’t really want to spend money on it afterall.  Just understand that anyone who truly cares about you, won’t expect you to break the bank for them. Maybe something less expensive, but more thoughtful will do the job, don’t you think? Conclusions Holidays are a time of joy and love, of giving and receiving. Never assume that an expensive gift is more entitled to be called a gift than a cheaper one. What matters most is to know how much money you have access to and always put thoughtfulness first, before any brand names or other such superficial criteria in choosing the gifts. How to Get Fabulous Makeup Without Spending a Fortune
When I first decided that I wanted to pay off my loans early, I realized I needed to cut costs. Everywhere. That included my makeup and skincare products. Gone were the days of going to Sephora every time I wanted a new lip color, in came drugstore makeup.
Growing up I was always envious of girls with designer lip glosses and eyeshadows, so it felt amazing once I started buying the brands I once coveted.
But spending so much money on makeup seemed frivolous once I realized how much I owed on my student loans, and many people claimed that you could find the same quality for cheap. If that was true, then why was I spending so much money?
Unfortunately, I haven’t entirely converted to drugstore makeup, but that doesn’t mean I’m OK with buying full-price products. There are ways to save when you’re shopping at Sephora or Ulta.
Do Tons of Research
Anytime I’m in the market for a new eyeliner or lipstick, I go to the number one place to read reviews: MakeUpAlley.com. You have to register there to see the reviews, but it’s so worth it.
For example, if I want to get a new tinted moisturizer, I’ll go there, click on Product Reviews, Tinted Moisturizer and search. I can instantly sort the options based on price, number of reviews and average rating. Usually, I do it by the number of reviews because if someone’s rated an item five starts once, it’ll be the highest rated.
Once I’ve found a few I want to learn more about, I click on the links and read the individual reviews. I like knowing if a foundation made someone with oily skin break out more or if the facial sunscreen left a white cast. Reading lots of reviews makes me prepared to actually go to the store and start shopping.
MakeUpAlley includes both drugstore and high-end brands in their reviews, so you can easily see if there’s a CoverGirl tinted moisturizer that works as well as the Nars or Laura Mercier. I love that! Who wants to spend more money for the same product?
Find Duplicates
Sometimes when I find a high-end product I really like, I still don’t want to splurge on it, especially if it’s something non-essential like setting powder or eyeshadow. I’d rather save my coins for foundation or eyeliner, something I use every time I put on makeup.
So if I have a product in mind, I’ll go to Temptalia, a blog that does makeup reviews and finds duplicates (or dupes). Most of the time, the dupes are cheaper versions of the same product. Temptalia writes about how the two are different, and she’ll rate how close the drugstore version is to its high-end twin.
Here’s an example. I looked up MAC Ruby Woo and found a bunch of dupes. Temptalia recommends the Maybelline Very Cherry – and even shows how it’s $9.51 cheaper than MAC and matches Ruby Woo 94% – what a win!
Seriously, if you’re not looking at drugstore duplicates, you’re really missing out.
Try Before You Buy
If you haven’t found a drugstore version of the makeup you like, it’s ok to get it from Sephora or Ulta. Sometimes, quality is more expensive. But before you splurge on $50 foundation, try a sample of it. Nowadays, I always get samples before I buy makeup because I want to see how it works on my skin away from the bright lights of Sephora. I also like samples because you can make sure your skin doesn’t have a bad reaction to it.
Sephora’s employees are super nice about letting people take samples, but the people at Ulta can be a little hesitant about it. Still, it’s better to get a sample before you buy something you don’t like. Too many people end up not returning something, so that’s why I recommend getting a sample first.
Wait for Sales
Ulta and Sephora rarely have sales or coupons, so definitely stock up when they do. Sometimes I’ll even buy my favorite NARS foundation when it hasn’t yet run out because I don’t want to wait and miss the sale. Sephora’s sales are in April and November, while Ulta always has some around the holidays.
Join the email list so you’ll be notified when it happens. Ulta also has weekly coupons you can use on their cheaper products, which is also a great deal.
Join the Rewards Program
Both Ulta and Sephora have a rewards program that is free to join, so definitely sign up for that if you haven’t already. You can get free gifts on your birthday – I’ve gotten a mini free NARS lipstick from Sephora that was perfect for my skin tone and a travel-size Fresh cleanser. Plus, it makes it easier to return items if they’re linked to your card.
Sometimes Sephora has special deals where they’ll double how many points you earn with each purchase. Since Sephora’s rewards are actually super valuable, this is also a good time to buy anything you need.
I always wait to use my Sephora rewards until I’m 100% sure I want the product. Sometimes I’ll have enough to redeem for a special gift, but there’s nothing I actually like. But if I’m patient, eventually I’ll find something I like.
Also, if you shop online at Sephora.com, you can usually get extra samples and offers if you spend more than a certain amount. You can find this in the Beauty Offers section.
Check the Sale Section
Both stores have an in-store and online sale section that can have great stuff if you poke around. I’ve gotten good deals from their clearance area before too. Plus, you can usually sample the goods at Sephora so you’ll know if you’re getting a good deal or a crappy product.
My Favorite Budget Beauty Buys
Nowadays, about half of my makeup comes from Sephora and half comes from Target or Amazon. I research carefully before deciding if I want to splurge or if I can save a few bucks. I rarely buy new makeup, so it’s always a big deal when I need to replace something. I’m really confident in my recommendation, so here’s a list of my favorite budget beauty items:
Real Techniques Brushes
A good makeup brush is almost more important than the makeup itself, so I’ve always strived for quality when it comes to my brushes. The great news about Real Techniques is that their brushes are affordable AND highly rated.
I’ve slowly replaced most of my brushes with Real Techniques. If you wash them regularly with gentle soap and cold water, they’ll last forever.
I also save money because as you can see, I don’t own a ton of their brushes – just the blush and foundation brush. I still have an eyeshadow brush from EcoTools that I use, but when it starts to fade, I’ll replace it with a Real Techniques.
They work well, distribute color evenly and last forever. Just make sure to keep them away from your dogs, who might think your eyeshadow brush is a small chew stick.
Cost: Ranges from $3-$8 per brush on Amazon
Wet n Wild Color Icon Collection Eye Shadow Trio in Silent Treatment
This is my favorite eyeshadow palette. I can layer the colors to create a sophisticated look, and they hold up throughout the day.
I would recommend this to anyone who doesn’t want to splurge on the Naked palette but still wants a few good neutrals to wear. Did I mention it was less than $3?
Plus, since I travel a lot, I can fit this easily in my makeup bag. It holds up throughout the day (even better when I layer eyeshadow primer underneath it). Even though I have a bigger palette now, I still reach for this one when I’m in a hurry.
Cost: $2.99 at Walgreens
L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara (Waterproof)
For a while, I was buying my mascara at Sephora, but I went on MakeUpAlley (duh) and this mascara had great reviews. It’s held up really well and doesn’t run like other drugstore mascaras I’ve tried. I get the waterproof since my eyes get teary, but I think the regular version also does well.
Cost: $7.99 at Ulta

Something in lieu of insurance?
I have been working part-time for a company and about to become full-time. One of the concerns that was raised is that insurance will be expensive. He pays 100% of everyone's insurance for their families. I suggested that we can revisit the insurance in a year and do something else in lieu of the insurance. Less costly. He also pays for parking for the employees. I'm not sure of what to ask for though. I was thinking a gas allowance but I wanted to have a few ideas to present in case he shoots one or more down.

Why do we have to pay car insurance?
Unless you are a really bad driver car insurance is a total joke. I mean how many reckss does a person get into in his life time. im saying on average about 2 or 3. and if your paying 600 bucks or more every 6 months thats one thousand plus dollars a year. in 30 years you could buy your self a new mustang. It really makes no sense that its a law to have car insurance when you could just put 600 bucks in a savings account if you ever need it. I think the insurance companies should give us our money back every 10 years or so if we are good drivers
Appropriate and affordable health insurance for my autistic son?
Here is the situation: My son is seven and severely autistic. He lives with his mom (we are divorced). As part of our agreement, I take care of his health insurance and medical bills, co-pays and things related to his medical care. I pay for insurance for him thru my employer, around $280 a month, just for him. However, although it is pretty good for office visits, it is really bad for hospital. Because he is autistic, he has to be knocked out for some procedures that he wouldn't normally be knocked out for. Recently he incurred a $9000 bill, which the insurance company wont pay because he already maxed out his hospital indemnity for the year. I feel that the time has come to provide him with some sort of hospital indemnity, but I can't find any that I can actually afford. I don't make very much, I make enough to pay his regular health insurance and his child support, and the occasional doctor bill. But I don't make enough to pay the huge premiums that a regular hospital indemnity plan has. To add another wrinkle, I live in New York, he lives with his mom in Connecticut, she is the one who brings him to the doctor/hospital, I'm just the one who pays for it, which I am happy to do. But the problem is, that anything available with NY, only covers providers in NY. CT wont work with me because i do not live there. Am I screwed (as in I have to pay 900 per month in hospital insurance), or is there something I can do? By the way, I make about $36000 per year, not a lot for New York. I just want to provide the best care for my son, but I need something I can actually afford""

I figure I'll be in 500$ with both license and gear (nice used leathers probably). Then i am going to get the bike which costs $4000. Being a supermoto, the insurance should be cheaper right? DRZ400sm if that helps. So between monthly payments and insurance, I should be in... 200$ a month? then gas, social life, blah blah. What do you think I need to be making monthly to make this happen. I bring in 500$ a month, and have 600$ in the bank as of now.""
How much does it cost to insure a first car in the UK?
I don't want a super fast car, just a banger to get me around, I was thinking Ford Ka or a 1960's mini, also if it's used does that effect insurance? And any hidden costs that I should know about? And does having an old car make it cheaper or more expensive to run? Also any hints tips or suggestions would be very welcome, thank you. :)""

How does replacement cost insurance work?
I have a 25 yr old harley davidson, and the insurance says full coverage will pay what the county values it at on your tag fee. (like, 800$) I also have a 67 chevy van that is valued at 300$ by the county. Obviously, full coverage is not intended to cover antique vehicles, as the annual premiums are far more than they want to give you should something happen. So what kind of insurance do you need to make you whole again? or, pay the true worth of your vehicles should you be hit by someone or your vehicle stolen?""

Getting homeowners insurance in florida?
I'm considering a move to Florida sooner or later, but I wanted to ask a quick question about insurance. I'm in Mobile, Al., and it seems the region has had some skyrocketing insurance costs, both premiums and deductables. A major factor in this is the hurricanes we've had in the past six years, give or take (Yes, i know there are more factors involving costs, the overall economy being no small part). In fact, many areas can't even get insurance in the first place, because no company will write a new policy. Does Florida have the same problem? In the past decade, the state has seen much more of its share of natural disasters than my home (my city hasn't had a direct hit from any of the major storms)""

I only have liability & when the other guy hit me he ran away on foot leaving the car. I made a police report and they gave me the other party's info. Can his insurance deny me completely if they don't find the driver?

Why are insurance quotes on comparison sites so high?
I'm almost 17 and I'm hoping to learn to drive and get a car. I was looking online to see what the insurance might be on some possible cars (ford KA, fiat sciento, nothing too fancy) but the insurance quotes were ridiculously high. The cheapest was around 6000 for third party which is really high because so many of my friends have cars and their insurance ranges from 1800-3000. Why is it so high and will it actually be this amount when I come to buy the insurance?""

Why is health-care so expensive?
Just last year in CA Medi-Cal (state medicaid) stop covering for dentistry and optometry for people over 21. The total cost of my dental braces is $4550. I need them so I can fix some teeth that are misaligned. I pay $100 and it seems like its a never ending balance. I been doing this for 2 years now. I have Medi-Cal because of my SSI but that doesnt cover anymore because I am 21. My mother had heart surgery in 2007 and we still haven't payed a bill. My parents don't have any insurance. They used to have Medi-Cal but when Schwarzenegger became the governor in 2003 he made some changes to the policies and they stop having Medi-Cal. She tried applying for SSI but she keeps getting denied. The republicans should stop attacking Obama and work together to pass the health-care reform.
