I, Sophia Ascart, attended today a tea party that I could hardly refuse since it was held by a family acquaintance.

Unlike long ago when I was confining myself indoors, I had become able to go outside and now, my "different appearance'" was so well-known that people didn't react to it anymore.

Even so, it wasn't like no one reacted anymore. There were still people badmouthing me.

And today, unfortunately, I happened to meet such people for the first time in a while.

Person A: She's just like a demon.

Person B: So eerie.

Person C: We'll get cursed.

They didn't speak to me, but their words uttered so I could hear them pricked my heart. 

If I had been my younger self, I might have run away and confined myself in a room. But,

Katarina: Your silky white hair and your sparkling ruby eyes are so beautiful.

Ever since Lady Katarina told me these words when I was nine, I had stopped hanging my head down.

Because I had someone who told me that I was beautiful, that they loved me, I raised my face and faced forward.

That's why today too, I faced forward instead of hanging my head down, and threw out my chest to show them it didn't bother me.

Thanks to Lady Katarina, I became able to do this.

After holding this stance, they grew tired of my lack of reaction and the malicious gossip became smaller.

Still, continuously facing malicious words and eyes after such a long time was hard.

When the tea party ended and I returned to the manor, maybe because I had relaxed my tensed-up mind, I was suddenly hit with fatigue.

My body felt heavy, and while thinking that it wouldn't be good manners, I immediately returned to my room and slipped into bed.

When I lay on the comfortable sheets, while thinking of almost nothing, I fell into a dream.

In a big all-white building, people of about the same age and dressed in the same uniform came and went. 

But next to me, there was no one.

I was jealously watching these people happily walking side by side.

I was holding in my hand several of my favorite heart-throbbing books, but somehow, they didn't fill me.

I was lonely, I was sad, and when I hung my head down, tears almost fell. At that moment…

Monkey Girl: Hey, let's go home together.

When I raised my face to the cheerful voice, a girl was extending her hand to me.

While bewildered, the "me" in the dream took her hand.

Acchan: *****

When I called the girl's name, she happily smiled.

When I smiled in response, my chest felt incredibly warm.

When I opened my eyes, there was the ceiling of my familiar room.

I seemed to have slept quite soundly. The morning sun was already shining in through the window.

Yesterday, with something unpleasant happening for the first time in a while, I thought I might have an unpleasant dream, but it appeared to have been an unfounded worry.

Rather, I felt like I had a pleasant nostalgic dream.

Since long ago, I would sometimes have nostalgic dreams like this one, but once I woke up, I would have completely forgotten the content.

Still, I would remember the emotions I had felt during it. There would be "sadness", "loneliness" and some others, but today, it was "joy".

The inside of my chest somehow felt pleasantly warm and I also felt refreshed after waking up.

Maybe because I had plenty of sleep, my tiredness was completely gone.

My unpleasant mood from yesterday had also completely disappeared.

Then, since I had made plans to visit Lady Katarina's home today, I got out of bed, quickly called a maid, and had her help me get ready.

And since I had also promised to bring my recommended books, I packed up several books preselected from the bookshelves.

Hmm~~ For love romances, this many should be fine, right?

The knight in this story was so charming.

And the prince in this story was so romantic and good-looking.

The duke in this one was a gentle person who understood girls' hearts so well. Uuh… They were all so good, it was hard to choose among them.

To be honest, while I had finally overcome my fear of people, I was still far from considering love in reality. Even so, after reading books, there were many things I was yearning for.

I would fantasize about my prince charming appearing one day and extending his hand to me, and I would grin after picturing taking his hand and dancing with him.

After all, there were plenty of charming men in books.

But my top ideal was still Big Brother.

Big Brother was strong, kind, composed, and good-looking. He was more charming than any prince of a story.

And it was because he was so charming that I wished so much that he would marry the one he truly loved and be happy… but there were just too many rivals.

I realized long ago that Big Brother had kept having feelings for my beloved Lady Katarina since childhood. 

But because Big Brother was overthinking things and fretting about them, he seemed to be planning on giving up and erasing his feelings, just because Lady Katarina was Prince Geordo's fiancée.

She might be his fiancée but it was a political engagement and absolutely not one where Lady Katarina especially loved Prince Geordo, so I didn't think there would be any problem even if we broke it off. 

After all, there were people like Lady Katarina's mother and Lord Keith working hard to break it off.

Luckily, Big Brother still hadn't decided on a fiancée, so he had a chance if Lady Katarina broke her engagement to Prince Geordo.

This was why I was doing my best every day to appeal Big Brother's good points in his place since he had given up.

Today too, I intended to have Big Brother accompany me and convey his good points to Lady Katarina, even if only a little.

Because Big Brother wasn't in the same grade as us in the first place, so he had less contact with Lady Katarina compared to the other rivals.

Though, if it came down to it, Big Brother could use his devilish charm to make Lady Katarina fall madly in love with him.

In a little extreme romance novel I had read lately, it was written that such techniques also existed. I would teach them to Big Brother eventually. 

While thinking about this, I prepared a selection of books and took Big Brother along. Now, off to Claes Manor.

Surely, Lady Katarina would welcome us with that lovely smile today too.

Just by imagining it, I could walk looking firmly ahead, without hanging my head down.

And I wished for Lady Katarina to become my sister-in-law one day.

Alright~ For this to happen, today too I would push, push, and push Big Brother to her!

It has arrived!!

Wow! It did NOT take long to get a hold of this...but here it is~ This is Season 1 of "Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna," or "She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat," on DVD. This isn't a review, per se, just some introspection alongside posting what came with this set. Read below the cut!

I got into this story via the comic first, and only late last year, so when the announcement of S2 was starting soon, I eventually found out 1) there was a drama to begin with (and they look so close to the actual characters??) and 2) someone had fansubbed the first season already (thanks Furritsubs!). I fell in love with the drama, fell in love with the story all over again, and caught up just in time for S2 to start airing and the fansubs to come out every weekend~ I was there for Episode 30, live lol

Here we are, 6 months later, and S2 is getting a DVD set as well, and I pre-ordered so fast lol. That alone, however, also got me pumped into actually buying S1 in the meantime. This is my first overseas proxy purchase, and I'm very satisfied with the whole process. I've done regular business with cdjapan before, but that was long...long... ago. More recently, I had used them to directly (not proxy) buy that Sailor Moon Raisonné book, and that also came in great condition. But not as fast as this! No damages, it came here from Japan in literally 2 days...it's new (though I did say I was okay with secondhand). It's just so beautiful.

I can't watch it yet, unfortunately, as I don't have a region-free player at this time. I mean, I know what to expect - slightly lower quality video and no subtitles (not even Japanese), but there IS a bonus video in here. Gonna taunt me for a while. While I am sad this show isn't considered for selling in Bluray, I'm happy to have an official product in my hands, and I always have the fansub files to watch and take screenshots of, which have the quality of the raw tv broadcast.

For now, though, enjoy these preliminary photos of the inside, reversible cover, and some pages from the bonus booklet. There's an interview in there with the scriptwriter that I'll have to work on later for you all to enjoy, if you're into behind-the-scenes stuff!

Hello there. Sorry for the delay, I've been holding off on replying to your question for a while. To be fair, when I saw this in my inbox just a DAY after my response to the Kaji Fes. MP3 ask, I was more than a little annoyed.

It's not like your message is inherently rude or anything (in fact, it's a bit more polite than the usual stuff I get) but it tells me TWO things about you:

You either purposefully ignored everything I wrote in that Kaji Fes. MP3 post or you never actually saw my original post and got the download link from someone who reposted it to another site. If you had made an effort to read my response from a few days ago, you would know that I always planned to share rips but first, I needed to receive my package. People are really out there thinking I have immediate access to everything. That is a misconception! The truth is, just like so many of us, I am at the mercy of endless shipping/customs procedures and have to wait very long for stuff to arrive at my place. Then I need to find the time to do all the ripping/encoding while working a full-time job and also having a life.

You've never actually visited my blog and thought it would be a good idea to use your first time here to make a huge request. I seriously doubt that you are one of my regular followers or lurkers because in all of my years running this blog, I've never ever provided t0rrents so I have no idea where you would get that idea from. Yes, I share a lot of content but I do this by uploading reasonably HQ files in converted formats to Google Drive for archival purposes. Early on, I considered providing ISO files but they proved to be too troublesome to handle on a personal cloud (they take too long to upload/download and use up way too much storage space - I already pay more than enough for my current plan). Also, I wholeheartedly believe that those who want raw files should simply BUY the Blu-rays and do the ripping themselves. You can't have high standards like that and not be willing to invest the necessary money and time. Contrary to what people may believe (based on the content I share), I am a big proponent of supporting artists by buying their releases. My main goal is to make life easier for overseas fans who struggle to overcome the countless hurdles between us and Japanese media but that certainly doesn't entail providing everything in the highest quality imaginable. To sum things up, all you can ever expect on my blog are encoded files which should have high enough quality to satisfy the vast majority of people.

Anyway, enough about that. I have good news! My package FINALLY arrived yesterday. BANZAI! Depending on how busy I am, I will hopefully be able to get the files uploaded by Thursday *fingers crossed*

I Saw The TV Glow (2024) was rough. i watched it on vc with some friends, and one of them certainly didn't quite grasp it. i wonder what it was like to watch it and not feel it crawl inside your soul and start tearing down the walls you worked so hard to construct. how much sense does this movie make to someone who hasn't seen the glow? is it a meaningless series of over-dramatic portrait shots in moody lighting? is it about the dangers of watching tv too much as a kid?

post-movie, the cis friend lamented that the whole thing was a bad experience. i agree with him, but i don't think we share a reason. im glad i watched it, but i hope i never see it again. i'll buy it on bluray to hide it in the back of my bookshelf and never look at it until its time to move out. i want to hold it in my hands so that i can file it away where it can't hurt me anymore, but i want to hold it all the same. because it hurts. but it hurts because i've never seen a movie like this.

i think it belongs next to What Dreams May Come (1998) and A Silent Voice (2016). i've never seen myself on the screen like this before. and now that i have, i don't want to ever again. thank you for making this movie. i love it with whatever heart i have left to give, and it's going to haunt me for a very long time.

Same one. Renfield kept the sofa (and, I’m assuming, the armchair with the massive cat claw damage) that came with the place.

My thoughts on Yuzuka Rei's retirement

So… about how I felt the taidan news. I wasn’t surprised. I was anticipating the news to come yesterday, or some day this week.

The obvious change for me was definitely the concert and the national tour announcement. When it’s said that Rei would reprise as Fie, I knew it was a journey looking back her days in Takarazuka, to which sounds very reminiscently beautiful. It’s also an indicator, to which the reason why I did write differently in my captions than I did before.

Then comes the announcement of Mikaze Maira introducing Rei as the Flower Troupe Top Star very rarely before she gives her speech. Rei’s always the one that doesn’t want to be in the sole spotlight and wants to be considered as a member of Flower Troupe rather than titled Top Star (as so may be suggested by her to ask Aoi-san not to say that)

Looking back at the thread I wrote, surely I was less sad to see her go than I thought I would. The decision must be one she thought over so long regards to timing especially how the pandemic affected her Top Star run. I do think it’s cruel to have Bluray announcement and Taidan announcements together hand in hand. But not because I moved on from how I felt about her- it’s because I felt it was fulfilling for her. I don’t want to think how the Arc en Ciel play would have a weird plot, I want to think how fruitful her Takarazuka career has been. Rei in Takarazuka has showed us so much and I’m content with all the performances and roles she’s showed thus far. But with Rei having a positive and forward-looking mindset, I must say, that she has not been lacking in any delivery. Each performance she committed her endeavours to the point of also leading the troupe. Rei has made me feel so proud and enligtened to have known her, that I am looking forward to paths she pursue in the future.

Of course for now, we cherish the remaining days not with sadness, but with pride. Every time seeing her radiate on stage, you want to compliment her, “well done!” “omg!” those are the praises that I’ll give for the rest of her Zuka days to come.

Thank you to those who have reached out to me, knowing that Rei is dear to me and I care for her. This page will continue to update the latest news that follow tomorrow and the upcoming weeks. Let us all stay strong and show support, love and more anticipations to her upcoming shows “Singing Lovebirds”/“Grand Mirage”, “Be Shining” and “Arc~en~Ciel”.

hi! apologies for the long ask but i read your tags on that post about physical media and i thought you might like to know my experience with 4ks versus my experience with other physical media

i''ve seen that post about all 4k discs requiring access to the internet to work before and i've never encountered that, i have a decent collection of 4k discs both from boutique distributors and mass releases from regular stores at the mall. i play them on a 4k player that has never been connected to the internet in any way, only plugged into a power outlet and my dumb tv which is not connected to the internet in any way either, and they all work perfectly.

the only time i've ever been denied access to a disc was when i put a regular blu ray in a ps4 that had never been connected to the internet and it said i had to connect to enable bluray playing (it plays games offline fine so i thought this was weird). i said fuck that and put the same disc in my blu ray player and it worked fine.

i've never connected any of my disc-playing machines to the internet in any way and the only one that has ever shown limitations like that is my ps4 (it can't play some newer games or download things or upload stats etc but who cares lol i just use it to play older games as they are). my regular blu rays and my 4ks play perfectly in their respective completely offline players. maybe it's an issue with PS5s? i've never had one but i know they can play 4ks (unlike the ps4), and maybe they exhibit similar limitations when it comes to playing movie discs vs games?

i love my regular blus, and have a lot more of them than 4ks, so i'm not one of those people that think upgrading is necessary, but i've had a lot of fun getting into 4k so far and they can look incredible if they're done with care (there's heaps of enthusiasts on youtube that scope out releases and let you know which ones make the most of the format and are worth spending money on)

so if you're curious about 4ks, don't be discouraged by the idea you can never "own" one in the way you can with standard bluray, because like i said, i buy them regularly from multiple sources and watch them all 100% offline and have never once encountered this problem so it's definitely not a format-wide issue at all.

Tbh I don't see myself getting into 4k personally, but that's mostly bc I already have a too big blu ray collection and my bf would kill me

Plus the backbone of my collection is shitty Italian horror films from the 70s, and I'm not convinced they really require the upgrade. I have one 4K disc, from a dual format set, of Ark of the Sun God, a film that probably looks at its best on battered VHS. That being said, I've no prudish notions or anything about the format and fully appreciate what it can potentially do for, yknow, genuinely beautiful films. Eh, maybe one day. I swore off blu ray at first... come to that, I swore off DVD initially too!

quick but late update

I feel I disappear, I don’t even know when was the last time I told you guys what is going on (in summary, nothing lol). As time passed, my backlog of subs decreased, so I don’t have anything ready for times like these when I know I’ve been away for too long.

And this is a happy thing, but a bunch of new translators have come up and subbed streams are often happening with works of those who prefer to leave their works to a more controlled environment. I get them. I used to feel frustrated some translations were nearly inaccessible to shy people like me, but the truth is that discord servers made it all easier, to a point I even wonder if in return my subs became less accessible, as you’d have to know how to rip your DVD or record from Sky Stage or find less licit copies and download them (by the way, you can use subs without ripping from your disc through some video players (I think VLC can do it now) but I recommend you do get the file on your computer for the disc to last longer), instead of just tuning it to the latest stream. But I can’t stream them for you, I’m very about that. It’s the main reason I make it clear anyone can stream using my subs as long as it’s not a paid event, I do want everyone to enjoy Takarazuka.

What I really wanted to post about are the updates:

I intend to adapt Tsuki no Hokage to the new Tsukigumi version as soon as it airs on Sky Stage (I don’t think we’ll get a Bluray of it any time soon as Paru and Ami have barely graduated from shinko). Let’s hope I’m still around!

Great Gatsby, thanks to everything that has been shared to me and even the help with the golf stuff, is almost done, there’s like twenty minutes left plus revising it, which I’m terrible doing... but you guys are used to the lack of quality by now.

I intend to sub Rain on Neptune if I can get the closed captions whenever it airs (just saw it won’t be in April, I’m hoping for May). And I also intend to sub Blackjack (maybe even do the original with Yan). I also wish I could find something I want to do other than the latest Tsukigumi shows, but I am supremely happy whenever the other shows get translated so I can just enjoy them subbed. This has allowed me to tackle on the works I’ve wanted to show my friends for years, but maybe I also got a bit lazy now the main ones are done (there’s Yukinojo, but I’m too much of a coward to attempt anything with the script).

hello, I want to ask you about the Bonus story or side story that exist In Hamefura. I kinda confused a lot because in my knowledge side story are only exist from the light novel (?), but I heard that they have a web novel special, and theres also some that are from yamaguchi web, and theres also from the manga volumes, can you explain to me are the differences? First of all, I haven't read the web novel, so I can't talk about it.

Aside from that, "bonus stories", "extra stories", "side stories", "SS stories" are all additional short stories written by Satoru Yamaguchi. These stories are usually given out as bonus:

some are bonus stories that come from special editions of the light novel. They come in separated booklets and are usually long (~50 pages). For example the Stuart Brothers story.

some are bonus stories that come with the ebook version of the light novel (they are titled "SS Story"). They are short (~4 pages)

There is a extra story included in each volume of the manga. They are usually about an AU. For example the Magical Girls AU extra story. They are also short.

Satoru Yamaguchi has a blog where they publish extra stories. The first published stories are just side stories, but whenever a new volume of the light novel comes out, Yamaguchi usually publishes 2 extra stories related to the new volume.

The Japanese blurays of the anime come with various bonus, including booklets containing extra stories. There is a 4-page extra story for each character except Katarina and Nicol.

People who watched the movie in the cinemas in Japan were given 2 booklets containing each a 4-page extra story. They are the "special episodes" I translated.

The artbook of the anime contains an short extra story.

When you purchase a new volume of the manga in animate stores, I think they give out a bonus card containing a picture on one side and an extra story on the other side, but I haven't seen any of those.

According to @sparklingmusicofstars , the Chinese version of the light novel includes extra stories that I haven't seen on the Japanese version of the light novel. But they seem to be the same kind of "SS story" that comes with the ebook.

And that's all I know about Hamefura's extra stories.

Buck watches Chim and Eddie carry the last piece of his bed down the steps, watches Maddie finish unpacking Buck’s prescriptions and instructions from his doctors while Carla explains their plan and tries again not to cry. Her hand is sweeping comfortingly up and down his back as he wrestles back the tears. He would have gone to stay at the Diaz house but he’s been dreaming about his own bed for days now and some part of him would have been disappointed to not get to sleep in it his first night free of the hospital.  “Thanks,” he croaks out after a few minutes and everyone smirks at him so he rolls his eyes but accepts the tissue Maddie passes him as she walks by towards the living room. “Maddie, you were on entertainment. Where’s the video games? A BluRay player? Movies?” Chim asks after the mattress has been laid on the boxspring. Eddie is swapping the sheets out with Maddie who rolls her eyes at Chim.  “Yeah, I was on entertainment,” she repeats slowly, like she’s speaking to a small child. “That’s why I got him a new Kindle, games for his Switch, some books from the library and extra long charger cords so they reach him in the bed,” she explains and Buck perks up in excitement. His old Kindle died a slow painful death back when he was just thinking about trying out for the SEALs and he never replaced it. He’s gotten by with his phone but it’s just not the same as a physical book or an ereader.

[Mari stands up from the park bench, placing their phone behind them back on the bench. Staring at someone who had walked up, The person is slightly taller, wearing a yellow hoodie with a black winter jacket over it and has a red beanie and long dark brown hair. Mari looks at the person, tilting their head.]

Ma: Um… Ok so I should ask before any other questions… Who are you and why did you walk up to me, sitting on a park bench eating an apple alone?

?: Oh, I’m Marigold Ash! Nice to meet you!

[Marigold sticks out her left arm, but instead of a hand there’s two black hooks coming from her sleeve. Mari stands there for a moment, before slowly grabbing one of the hooks and carefully shakes it.]

Ma: I hope I did that right? Um… This is going to sound dumb but I haven't met many people with a prosthetic arm…

[Mari laughs, but almost immediately stops.]

Mg: Most people haven’t, but I don’t mind questions as long as you aren’t a dick about it.

Ma: I uh right now my only question is… I wasn’t like… An asshole shaking the arm like that? Um… I would feel kinda bad.

Mg: The asshole move is just staring at it. Or staring at my other hand instead. You’re good dude.

Ma: Cool… Um… So why did you walk up to me randomly?

[Marigold stares blanky for a second before a look of understanding crosses her face and she reaches into her pocket with her right hand and pulls out a phone.]

Mg: Right! So uh, could be wrong, the lighting is shit and the footage is all blurry but uh, is this you?

[Mari looks at the footage and slowly nods, before looking back at Marigold.]

Ma: Yep, that's me. Why, are you a cop?

Mg: Ew no. I was just wondering if you knew the other person, I want to ask them how they designed that prosthetic of their’s. And why the hell they were wearing it to a random club when it’s not even close to Halloween.

Ma: I only know like… 3 people from that night? And uh that person you're talking about technically isn't one… I mean they have spoken to my coworkers over tumblr? They sign off with the letter H if that helps?

Mg: Damn, my search continues then. Oh well, nothing’s fun when it’s easy anyways as my mom always says.

Ma: Hm… Yeah I guess that's kinda true… Depends on the thing I guess.

[Mari looks at the ground, seemingly upset about something.]

Mg: Ah yeah, fair enough. But hey, you said some of your coworkers have talked to this person?

Ma: Yeahhhh?

[Marigold puts her phone away, and reaches into another pocket and pulls out a small card and holds it out to Mari.]

Mg: Here, if you ever learn any more about them, you can find me here!

Ma: I um… Ok.

[Mari grabs the card, slowly putting it in their hoodie pocket.]

Ma: Oh I uh forgot… Are you fine being recorded and this being turned into a transcript for uh… Tummmmmmmmmblrrrrrrrr purposesssss?

[Marigold paused for a few seconds before nodding.]

Mg: You know what? In any other circumstance I would probably have said no, but since you did actually ask, why the hell not.

Ma: Ok cool um… Also, um if you see the green haired person I was fighting, just… Don’t mention me to her? It’s a… Long fucking story.

[Marigold mimes zipping her lips with her prosthetic hand.]

Ma: Cool… Wait… The card is for a repair shop?

Mg: Yeah! It’s the family business. Well, it’s my mom’s and I also work there and that’s it most of the time.

Ma: Oh… I'll try to pop in sometime if I remember.

Mg: Yup! If you ever need pretty much anything repaired, there’s like a 99% chance we’ll be able to fix it!

Ma: Nice! I uh… might need some stuff repaired around my house… [Muttering.] Like the bluray player that just stopped working.

Mg: Just stop by any time we’re open and we can probably help! Although speaking of the shop… I’m technically almost running late for my shift…

Ma: Oh um… Need a ride..? I have my car.

Mg: No thanks, but it’s not too far from here so I’m good.

Ma: Oh, alright! Be careful.

Mg: [Calling over her shoulder] My mom would kill me if I wasn’t!

Thoughts On 2023 Favorites

TV Shows 1. Good Omens season 2: Oops, I'm obsessed again. You can make the argument that a second (and PHEW eventual third) season was unnecessary, but I disagree. It was nice to get a season that wasn't so breakneck in it's pacing. Everything slowed down a bit and focused in on Aziraphale and Crowley's shenanigans. Which, let's be honest, is what the audience wants. That being said, I liked everything else about it too. A cute/silly plot, fun new characters, and a devastatingly sad finale that left me distraught. I could not have asked for more really. (Except more kissing. Please tell me there will be more kissing.) 2. Lockwood and Co: A spooky premise that probably took a lot of effort to appear even semi-believable [as a tv show]. Yet, it was pulled off with flying colors. It was also perfectly atmospheric and charming, so of course netflix canceled it. I plan on reading the books.

Animation (TV & Films) 1. Murder Drones: 2023 was a good year for indie animation overall, and out of all of them Murder Drones was the show to win my entire heart. Perfect setup for horror and YA spoofing, but also well written enough that I enjoyed the character focus and progression as well. I'm psyched for the final two episodes set to release in the spring. 2. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: If any movie of recent memory deserved a decent sequel it was this one, so I'm very happy it turned out as great as it did. One of the few comic-book films I bothered with in 2023. 3. Hilda season 3: Easily one of my all-time favorites from Netflix, so I'm beyond happy it has a great ending now. Gorgeous animation, a lovable main and support cast, and perfect chill vibes. Deserves a bluray release. 4. Elemental: Listen. Pixar's still got it this was so cute. You're forgiven for The Good Dinosaur Peter Sohn. 5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem: So much fun tho. Love the current creative trend in cg films happening thanks to Into the Spider-verse. Also, the No Diggity scene was incredible. The movie has an A+ soundtrack. Anime (TV & Films) 1. Trigun Stampede: So relieved this turned out to be great, considering the original is a favorite of mine. Not a easy feat in the age awful, cash-grab reboots. 2. The Boy And The Heron: Honestly? My favorite Miyazaki film since Howl's Moving Castle. Genuinely moving and left me misty-eyed. 3. Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc: This show is so pretty. Still surprised how well the series portrays it’s simple, compelling cast. Like it’s an effortless sort of thing (it’s not). 4. Suzume: Makoto Shinkai's last three movies just make me happy okay. Happy and hopeful. The best comfort movies ever. Video Games I have a steam deck now so you'd think I played a bunch of video games last year but, no. I didn't get heavily into much last year. Played some Hades though? Live Films || Note: I watched so many great classic horror movies this year that I had never given a proper watch. I would like to continue that this year!! 1. Talk to Me: Please make more horror movies Danny and Michael Philippou. This one was wild. 2. Dark City: The fact that The Matrix got four movies and this didn't get any sequels is a fucking tragedy. 3. Coherence: Love me a simple, creepy sci-fi movie with an interesting premise. Apparently, quite a lot of the film is improvised as well? That blew my mind. 4. Greener Grass: More films that just feel like one big Adult Swim skit please. This style of script is hysterical to me. 5. Caveat: This goes on my fave list simply for scaring the shit out of me lmao. Movies walk a fine line, when the intention is to make you uncomfortable for long periods of time. They risk being irritating instead of entertaining. Caveat had me shrieking at my tv (in a delighted sort of way).

Some Creative & General Goals for 2024 I feel like I was drawing a lot more in 2023! Still nothing worth posting online, but I'm making some progress I think (slowly but surely). Goals: make more art for my siblings when they request it, finish some digital art that I started, and finish the diorama piece I planned out. On the general goals I'd like to travel more! Particularly, I'd like to visit some national parks.
