You know what I love about The Order 23 Job?

It's not the absolutely INSANE way Nate catches the bad guy, no. Though, being able to give a guy a nosebleed with the power of your mind is pretty hot.

No, what I LOVE about this episode is that Eliot is surrounded by cute nurses and he doesn't care. He doesn't care about the con. He doesn't care about the job. He sees a little boy with a broken arm, showing signs of abuse, and he gets tunnel vision.

I love it when Eliot threatens the boys father, takes his actual freaking driver's license! I love when Eliot tries to empower the boy to speak up for himself, AND, when he learns that the boy can't trust ANY of the cops in town, Eliot takes the matter to the US Marshals.

He literally tells a freaking marshal that a little boy is in trouble and living with his abuser, and that his abuser is on friendly terms with the cops in town, and will he please help him out?

I love that the marshal takes the matter seriously. Instead of being like, "well, that's not my jurisdiction," he takes care of it. He personally goes to the boy's house and tells him, "let's talk. You'll be okay." He personally removes the boy from the presence of his abuser WHILE the abuser is watching!

I love that Eliot is outside the house watching them, instead of just passing the message along and letting the marshal take care of it. He goes to the house and watches, makes sure--until the very last second--that that little boy is safe. He makes sure that that little boy will never have to be afraid of his father again.

And if this episode isn't enough to get you to fall in love with Eliot Spencer, then you're a monster.

Under Window and Wing

Nightwing landed lightly on the edge of the roof, careful not trample any of the plants that were trailing over the edge of brick and stone. The rooftop garden that space had been transformed into was frankly impressive. It was a little bastion of vibrant green life in the middle of Gotham mid-rise buildings.

It was like a homing beacon.

Nightwing couldn’t help but wonder who else it called to. Who else was drawn to it like a doomed moth to a flame.

Danny has once said no one else visited like Nightwing did, as if he could read the man’s mind (and maybe he could, who knew with Danny), but Nightwing could hardly believe that. He knew how Danny spoke of ‘Sam’ and of ‘Tucker’. He knew those names had helped Danny make his vibrant sanctuary in the middle of the sometimes grim city. He knew that their bonds were deeper than friends or desperately made family.

He just didn’t know where those wavy, ill defined lines in the sand were drawn now.

Of course he wouldn’t hold any of it against Danny.

What could Nightwing offer Danny?

Nightwing was no one–just a name whispered on the tips of tongues in dark nights in even darker allies. Nightwing wasn’t a person; he was an idea.

Ideas couldn’t give, they could only take.

No, if Danny had lovers lined up around the block, Nightwing wouldn’t hold it against Danny in the least. Danny deserved romance and someone who could keep him close and sit next to him on dreary days. An idea couldn’t do that. Nightwing would celebrate it if Danny had that…

…and fall to his knees in prayer that he might be able to just keep some sliver of Danny for himself.

Just something to stay warm.

Because even an idea needed hope.

Got through my rewatch of Fantasy High Sophomore Year and like...

Can we talk about Garthy? Because I TOTALLY forgot that line near the end (Spoiler alert) About their mother's name being Ayda Aguefort. Like they are Ayda's kid. Arthur's Grandson.

Does Arthur KNOW? (probably not). Ayda clearly doesn't know, and like, imagining that from Garthy's perspective - Your mother dies and is reborn. You raise your own mother as a new person (maybe more than once? We don't know how old Garthy is do we?) and she loves you but she has no idea who you actually are to her, and you don't tell her. Would that be breaking their heart, quietly? Seeing peeks of the mother they knew coming through this new person, would it feel like raising your own child, or your sibling? Would you even know, having had neither? Maybe there WAS a sibling, we don't even know, Ayda certainly doesn't know.

She thinks Fig is her only paramour ever, so she didn't write down anything for her future self about Garthy's other parent. Would Garthy feel hurt about that? Have they reconciled it? Like this is a character who has such depth, such emotional maturity, and how much of that came from moving through the reality of being a parent to your parent, maybe more than once? Having your mother be immortal but being unable to ever get her back like HHHHHHHH FUCK DUDE.

GOD Brennan you absolute fucker I have SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT GARTHY ALREADY, and this sent me SPIRALING INTO MORE.

i just remembered that canonically, sirius got to godrics hollow after hagrid.

which means that after he had his godson taken away from him (bc lbr that’s exactly what hagrid and dumbledore’s orders basically did) then he went into the house and saw james and lily’s dead bodies alone. no buffer in the form of harry crying out for his parents or even the godfatherly instinct of making sure his kid is alright.

he was there, with his brother and friend’s cooking body, all alone. stewing in grief and pain and rage and guilt. ALONE.

do we even know how long he was there? for all we know, he could’ve been catatonic right there besides james all day.

Law vs Blackbeard reaction 4 of 4

Like I said in the first of these posts, I already knew that Law would get defeated in this fight and that the Polar Tang would get destroyed. Some things are just impossible to avoid seeing. I'm glad I was prepared so I wouldn't have to take that emotional hit. Turns out there were even bigger emotions waiting.

So Law is on the ground bleeding, clearly having been through a long difficult fight, not having any more to give. I was very satisfied to see that Blackbeard seemed to be worn out and in pain too and that Law didn't go out easy. But we learn that his ship has been sunk and his crew is scattered, dying or already dead.

But Bepo is nearby.

And of course I start to cry immediately. I can't take Bepo laying well out of reach, desperate to save his captain but barely being able to move. All while a pack of genuinely horrifying men are about to kill Law and take his powers.

And then there's a flashback of Chopper giving Bepo a mysterious bag of medicine and my heart rate picks up so fast. I felt robbed of Sulong-Bepo in Wano when all the other minks got to transform but this, this was certainly the time to save that moment for.

I get shivers just looking at this screenshot. I can't properly explain how intensely I silent-screamed my way through this entire scene.

FERAL BEPO!!!!!!!

But he's not out of regular Bepo love and ohmygoddddd he's such a hero >__< So he manages to grab his captain and his sword and escapes out into the ocean with Law on his back.

Law who tells him to go back again, because of the crew.

Because Law can't leave his friends behind.

And this is where I start clawing at my own face because of course he can't! He loves his friends! He cares about them so so much he'd die for each and every one of them, even the ones he doesn't know very well, and it's been kinda obvious since way back, even though the very word friend seems to offend him. Except now he's using it so easy and I'm chewing on electrical chords.

Law says to go back for the crew, but Bepo says: "No I won't! Trust them, Captain! From the extremely cold port of the north till now… we've always survived! So… none of us will die here! We've overcome so much together! So, Captain! Don't die!"

And then they get swept under the surface

And I'm crying my fucking eyes out because BEPO and because the North Blue and the significance of the day and the place where they met and all the things they've been through since then, and their ship and BEPO!

And all that hit me a lot harder than I thought it would, considering I knew what would happen. I didn't know about the Bepo rescue and the whole fiercely protective polar bear friend hit me right in the childhood.

So I went to get Vitis, my own protective polar bear:

Since I've brought him up several times I felt I should introduce him properly. I also really needed a polar bear hug after that episode <3

Now I will calm down, have some tea, process all of this and eventually write some kind of wrap-up post about my overall One Piece experience. It has been intense.
