hii. if u dont mind, could u please share that "change of attitude" towards journaling? i feel like i really need that.. since i myself changed my attitude towards drawing and have been much more productive and happy doing it this last year. however Writing About Myself its another beast completely.. hope u r having a nice day! 🍃
hope you're having a lovely day as well! anyways as i was typing this up, what starts as a small tidbit has gone off the rails so i suppose this is my blanket advice as a newbie in journaling:
the materials!
choosing the titular journal aka notebook:
soft vs hard cover - i didn't realize this is SUCH a deciding factor until much later. most people prefer soft covers since journals can get massive with use but it's very subjective. be tactile - if it just don't feel right in ur hands, it's not gonna be something u reach out for when u have free time.
size - the most common sizes are A5, A6 or regular aka travelers notebook. you have to think abt who you are as a writer. do u have a large handwriting that takes up pages and pages? do you like space or are you overwhelmed by a blank page? do you travel a lot and do u want something unobtrusive in your bag? choose something that will reasonable work as a part of your daily life.
paper texture - paper that is smooth to write in are a great source of pleasure. notebooks with 100gsm paper is a good benchmark.
price - pleaseeee do not break the bank to purchase a fancy notebook. an expensive notebook can become an unloved one. you'd be too stressed to ensure every entry is perfect and pretty enough and the notebook eventually becomes too intimidating for you to fill in. check out your local hypermarket or online stores for quality notebooks. moleskins are overrated--in my country, they are v v expensive so don't feel pressure to buy a certain stationary just bc you see them often on ig/tiktok like my journal cost me approximately RM10 (USD2.34) and my new one w 100gsm paper cost me RM17 (USD4) like affordable options are out there!
build a connection with your notebook - listen...this sounds strange but having an attachment with your journal and making it inviting as possible is a great source of motivation. personalize it: add stickers, doodle or paint the cover. get a fabric/pvc cover to keep it clean if you'd like (you can add lil papers/stickers on ur actual notebook cover before putting on the pvc cover! very cute and easy)
and your pens:
again: less is more! use any relatively cheap pens you like - be it for the ink or smoothness. if you want to journal a lot, expect to lose a few pens during traveling or just around the house lmao
for fans of darker inks like me, i use Uni-ball Signo Broad, M&G R3 retractable gel pen and my favorite: Faber Castell RX Gel Pen 0.38mm - which cost like RM1.49 (i dont wanna convert - it's change money in america)
final note: i don't use fountain pens so i'm afraid i'm not well-versed enough to advise in that department but i deeply respect (and a little in awe) of journallers who use them 🫡
the tenet!
purpose: what do u plan to use the notebook for? daily journal? art journal? planner? all three? it's your life! live deliciously! since i have a 9-5 job, i know i can't keep up with more than one journal so i've been using mines as a diary and i dump my daily activities/thoughts/reviews of all kinds of media i'm currently obsessed with and it fills up quick!
don't be too hard on yourself: if you missed a day or two of journalling, it's fine - take it back up. write down anything memorable you'd like in the past few days. if you come across a certain blank page your brain is blanking to fill, perhaps after a previous dark entry, skip the page. skip two pages if needed. don't be scared of blank pages. if it needs to be blank, let it be.
it doesn't have to only be words! add stickers, dried flowers, receipts, ticket stubs, other ephemera you collected in the day. be artful! go crazy on page decoration!!
if there's anything you take away from this post, it's this: if you truly want a journal that is used up quickly, do not have plans to share it on social media. personally, i find once you are in the mindset of sharing your journal for an audience's consumption, you get worried whether it's "aesthetic" enough or is it too boring or too ugly or too dark or that you don't upload regularly enough. social media can be inhibiting your creativity or motivation to journal like let your animal brain ruminate in private! stay free from the shackles of responsibility!

Rambling until I fall asleep or get up again
After I had my bloated episode last night, it was hard to fall back to sleep. I did wake up easily but I couldn't get up. It felt like I didn't rest well last night X(
Wisconsin wasnt too bad. I was doing another patterny/zentangle/mandela doodle while everyone else was chatting about my brother's recent engagement. I was drawing it in this little bookie I had back in 2017, about 12 days after I got hired in my job :)
I had a few pages of rainbow watercolor already colored + a few circles stenciled in. Then I'd make the patterns from there. It sparked an idea to use whatever leftover watercolor I have on my brush + lay it down on the empty page. Once that page is filled, I can go over it with the patterns :) This will alleviate the sense of guilt for wasting any paint. For the thicker, shinier paints I'd use a 0.7 fine point black Posca pen. For now, its either a Faber-Castell, Sharpie, or Micron. Whichever can get that ink flowing XP
I'd like to go back to sleep but its risky. If I sleep rn, chances are that I'll awake up at an odd hour than my usual time. My best bet is to stay awake a little bit longer. Like another 2 or 3 hours (it's about to be 7 PM here).
Thinking about tomorrow. I have a meeting with a nutritionist. Neve had one b4 + idk how this will go. Well, what I'm hoping to get out of this is when I should be eating. It's either i dont eat at all (bcuz work work work) or I eat everything (a result from work work work). Worse, my diet's mainly takeout X( I cant help it bcuz I work at a pizza joint, theres nothing too good at home (or not to my liking), I have the money + freedom to go wherever for food, + I can't cook. I think I already said my reasons for cooking a couple days ago.
(I hate my siblings for pushing my buttons. Them: "Well u have mommy cooking + cleaning for you." *gets infuriated but trying to calm myself*)
*couple deep breaths later*
I used to have the independence back when I was dorming in college but not have money. Now it's the opposite: I have money but I dont have the independence + I depend on (+ taking advantage of) them.
Other things on my mind:
Why I dont look at the scale
Physical activity for the energy, not for weight loss
Siblings against the (pricey) gym I just joined XP
Hoping the item has traveled safely (it's in NJ rn)
Work makes me feel like a winner + home makes me feel like a loser
The weight on my back + shoulders preventing me from getting up again
Want to continue the patterny doodle
Would like to upload more doodles on IG, despite it being a lot of Dratica doodles
What else I can do as I'm up
What bg noise or video can I put on? (I'm out of Kittisaurus content to watch)
Cuddling with Axel for my heart X3
Feeling super guilty for not animating like I wanted to this month.
That last one's a killer X( I built myself up, only to crumble down. When I'm ready, I'll try again. I'd hate to feel sick of working on SNJ. I really do. There's so much I can still improve upon. Even if it practically means starting all over X( At least it's still 78 frames in 24 fps :) There is a lot to think about in this short of an animation. Overthinking caused me to crumble down. The movement of the hips. Perspective. Use of power centers. Weight. Moving holds. Making the character think with (almost) each step he takes. Making it simpler to begin with but not rough. Rough as in too many lines that will overwhelm me... I should write this paragraph down in my notes.
Welp, I'm up. Imma grab my leftover slice of pepperoni + see how the rest of the night will go. Yep! (It is now 7:31 pm)

Hey! I really like your coloring, could you give us a little tutorial on how you work your magic?
I'm bad at tutorials but sure (assuming you mean my doodling coloring style)
Tumblr media
First I start off with my base sketch
Tumblr media
Then I decide on lineart colors (can be one or many); here I've decided to use thin not-shiny red, black, and periwinkle ink pens
Tumblr media
Then I move on to the more basic colored parts of the drawing (I kind of just map out the colors I want to use and the shadows in my mind first before laying them down); here I use a light gray and a yellow marker for his shirt, and two skin tone markers for his skin
Tumblr media
Then I start adding the darkest and the lightest shades of his hair and suit according to how the materials and paper work together (the paper I use for these doodles is lower quality so it helps to plan out first so it doesn't ruin itself with the water based markers); highlighters generally have lighter shades compared to their marker counterparts, so I'm using those for some of the highlights (also trying to keep the blue a little separate bc if it mixes too much with the other markers it'll look really muddy)
Tumblr media
Then I start filling in the middle ground of the shade range I'm planning to use, in this case it's orange (for the hair I just.. do what feels hair-like and in accordance to Apollo's hairstyle)
Tumblr media
After that I start laying down darker values; this red will be the final main color I'll be using for this doodle (color placement is approximately in accordance to lighting ig)
Tumblr media
Then I bring in the crosshatching with my thin red and periwinkle ink pens, the same ones I used for the lineart, to smoothen it out; and also a light gray ink pen to assist with the white shirt, and after all that's done, I take a white ink pen that specifically has the property to go over/cover the ink below it, to add some extra highlights
So uh yeah that's that, hope this helped some

Do you have any advice for getting clout on an art blog? I have an art blog on here, but im much more active on instagram and reviving my old youtube channel with speedpaints that have been sitting on my laptop for quite sometime not, but none's been getting kuch attwntion, if that makes sense. (My tumblr is cleaner than my instagram, though, since my ig is a spam acct from like three years ago and i dont have the heart to delet all the spam on it)
hmm… not 100% the meaning of clout but i searched it up and i think it means something like responsibility or recognition or smth like that idk
if youre looking on how to get your art to be noticed, try tagging it with as many things relevant (example: my traditional drawings i tag as traditional art, anime, cartoons, doodles, pen, ink, watercolour, paint or any other medium i used as well as the subject matter).
It’s also good to make a kind of brand/series that you think people would like to see more of. so i link a lot of my speedpaints to my drawings, so it may get people to look through other videos or drawings i have.
if you have the time, you can ask people if they’d like you to draw something. i usually dont do this (with exceptions), but getting others involved in your art make you more noticeable than just a robotic art gallery with no artist.
It’s really hard to get attention for art, ive been online posting art for about 4 years and im still not an artist that is particularly popular in any group, but just know that someone will appreciate that art, even if it takes a long time for them to actually see it.
idk how to explain, but bottom line i tell everyone, self promo.

A/N: Hola guys! So, I started watching Riverdale the other day, and I got really inspired by the whole High School setting, so I just wanted to write something regarding that. So, that’s the explanation for this. Also, it starts out in 3rd POV, just because I was trying stuff out :)
If you want to listen to what I listened to while writing this: listen to Daddy Issues - The Neighbourhood. Not that the lyrics fit with the fic, but I liked the feel of the song for this :)

Jeremy Adams was having a normal day. Everything was like it used to. He woke up the same time as usual, he wore the same type of clothes, he had the same thing for breakfast as he always did. His feet met with the same grounds as he walked to the same building as yesterday, school. Even though there was a comfort in it, Jeremy was looking forward to college; he was ready for something new.
So, naturally, he instantly looked up from his books when something was out of the ordinary happened —  the door to the classroom opened in the middle of the first lesson. Two teenagers entered, a boy and a girl. And he had never seen them before.
A new student was a sight rarely seen at this high school, situated in a small town where people rather left than the opposite. And now there was two? What did they do to become this lucky?
The guy walked first, and she trailed behind as she swept a look over the class, skepticism in her eyes. Jeremy quickly looked back at the text under his nose, so that she wouldn’t catch him looking.
However, he couldn’t concentrate on the text — instead he tried to understand what their muffled voices were saying but they were too far away, he couldn’t make out the words. He wasn’t left in suspense for too long as his teacher, Mrs. Brown, called out for everyone’s attention.
”Ladies and gentlemen,” she began, as all heads of the mass were lifted to inspect the newcomers. ”These are our new students. Let’s welcome Dean and (Y/N) Winchester to our town and school.”
Twins.
The class remained silenced to Mrs. Brown’s dislike, she had expected them to all say hello in unison. But teens these days were hopeless, as she always said, and couldn’t even do that. She suppressed the urge to scold them, sighed and continued anyway.
”Dean, (Y/N) — is there something you’d like to tell us about yourselves?” Mrs. Brown looked up at this Dean, who towered over the petite woman.
”Not really, sweetheart,” he shook his head, as he shoved his hands in the pockets of his worn leather jacket, and a corner of his mouth twitched upwards in a half smirk, obviously content with his comeback.
Mrs. Brown weren’t amused anyhow. He was one of those. She could practically smell the trouble, the disobedience, coming off him. A frown had formed on her face. That was no way to talk to a teacher.
”Take a seat.” She sternly told him, and he scoffed, before he started walking down one of the aisles to find himself an empty desk.
Meanwhile, his sister rolled her eyes. It was a subtle gesture, uncertain if it was directed to her brother’s sarcastic response, or her new teacher’s short patience. She probably thought nobody noticed, but Jeremy did. In fact, her grimace almost made him laugh, but he quickly stopped himself, not wanting to seem weird, they didn’t know each other yet.
Mrs. Brown inhaled sharply, as if she just remembered there were two of the Winchesters. But before she could ask her, (Y/N) answered. ”I’m good.”
Then she turned fully towards the class, walked down the same aisle Dean had previously made his way through. Jeremy noted how the male Winchester, who had ended up sitting down to his left, watched intently as his sister sat down to Jeremy’s right, only a few rows ahead.
The Winchesters had certainly shifted the atmosphere of the classroom for the rest of the lesson. The students kept their eyes on the new, exciting, twins. Everyone was curious. One immediately obvious, though maybe not too significant difference was that Dean was very aware of the glances he was receiving, smirking back at a couple of girls — while (Y/N) was seemingly oblivious.
Instead, her focus shifted between Mrs. Brown and the chalkboard, and the crinkled pages of her notebook, that clearly had been carelessly shoved into a bag one too many times. She was doodling, Jeremy could tell by the way her hand never moved across the lined paper as it had if she was writing. Instead it stayed in a limited area.
He could tell you were different. He didn’t know exactly what, but there was something, except for the fact that you didn’t seem to follow the norms as slavishly as most of the other students of the school.
He took in your appearance, as much as he could see from behind. You were wearing an oversized flannel, dark blue with emerald and white accents, that you had tucked the front of into your slightly ripped dark washed jeans. Your hair was just out, flawlessly spread over your shoulders. It looked like you had just spent a day by the beach, where the salty winds had played with your locks, leaving them in a perfectly messy, but not unkept, state.
Jeremy didn’t get much done that lesson, he was too caught up in his thoughts. This showed to be the case for you too, as you almost flinched when the bell rung out. Even though he had more stuff, he finished packing up the books before you — as you had spread everything out over your desk, in an unorganized mess. Jeremy stood up to leave with the rest of the class, and when he passed you he was surprised to see what you had been drawing. On your paper there were hardly any notes, instead different symbols drawn in ink of a ballpoint pen were scattered across it, symbols that Jeremy hadn’t ever seen before, except for the pentagrams. However, he didn’t spend much more time contemplating this as for now, he had to get going to his locker. Besides, it wasn’t his business, although it sparked his curiosity even more.
The last thing he saw before leaving the classroom was Dean waiting by your desk as you shoved your books in your bag, creating more crinkles in the papers.  He said something, and you rolled your eyes once again though a smile spread on your face. You nudged him with your elbow and said something back, and he smirked followed by a boyish chuckle.
The two of you were evidently close. And there was something different about you, Jeremy could tell. He wondered what it was.

Y/n going to kill Peggy. Her best friend, Peggy Schuyler, asked her to sign up for the literature class with her in hopes for Y/n to find her soulmate.  Now you personally felt no rush to find your so-called 'soulmate' and often protest against Peggy's measures, but Peggy would hear none of it.
Now here Y/n was taking notes in a rapid fashion, glancing at the board every few seconds. Peggy was right beside her doodling in her own notebook instead of working. The professor, Mr. Washington, didn't seem to notice Peggy as he was writing on the smartboard. Soon you took a break from writing and set down her black pen.
Peggy took this as a cue to pass the Y/h/c a note as Mr. Washington turn around to the board. Y/n glance at Peggy as she opened the note. There in hastily written yet beautiful handwriting was 'Why do you keep changing colors' in a darkish ink. You sighed and picked a random pen and wrote 'I wouldn't know Pegs. Can't see color remember' Y/n copied down the new notes with a pen before passing the note back.
Y/n looked down at her wrist there in perfect cursive was 'Excuse me, can I borrow a pen, Miss?' in black ink. This irked you to no end because you often got asked for a pen since high school. Peggy had better luck at finding her soulmate than you. She found her soulmate in 10th grade and she's been happy ever since. Y/n got snapped back in reality when Mr.Washington turned to the large class.
"You're going to write an essay about any topic you want. But it must be at least 5 pages long. The written rough draft will be due in two weeks." At that many groaned and sighed. Peggy groaned and muttered, "He's trying to kill us.." Y/n chuckled and looked around the room.
One face stood out from the others two desks away. Soft looking hair pulled up in a ponytail, bright intelligent eyes staring at his notes, hoodie with the sleeves rolled up, and black converse. You recognized him as Alexander Hamilton, Washington's teacher pet. Alexander had a reputation of writing nonstop for hours. His Friend John Laurens sat between you two but sometimes asked to trade spots to talk with Peggy. You never talked to Hamilton but often chatted with Laurens.
Peggy watched as Y/n stared at Alexander, who was completely oblivious to the staring and started to smirk. Finally, Mr. Washington dismissed class early much to Peggy's Joy. Student rushed out the door but her best friend still didn't move. She sighed and snapped her fingers in front of your face.
Peggy's POV
I watch as Y/n snapped her head up to me. "Class's over," I said while packing up.  She quickly gathers up her multiple colorful pens. "I swear you're addicted to pens" I teased only to be replied with a scoff. "Not true, I just like to write in different colors for when I meet my soulmate." You shot back and started to head for the door. 'Rude, She's leaving me.' I thought, running after you. We started talking about what topic to write our essays about while walking to the dorms but the conversation took a weird turn.
"Have you ever seen two insects have sex?" Y/n said after a comfortable silence took over. "...what?" I asked completely dumbfounded. She went on the long rant on how she was eating outside at a cafe when two dragonflies flew over and landing on her table on top each other. I listen intently for a while before she said she took a picture. "Why would you take a picture?" Y/n only shrugged as we arrived at our dorm to see someone at our door.
I instantly recognized the tall figure. "Hercules!" I squealed before jumping into his open arms. Hercules emitted a deep chuckled making me smile. Hercules is my amazing soulmate and I wouldn't want it any other way. We meet in 10th grade, he complimented me on my outfit and the rest was history. "Hey beautiful, I came to see if you wanted to go to the movies?" Hercules asked hopefully. I grinned and turned to Y/n "I'll be back before dinner, promise!" Y/n smiled and started pushing Hercules and me down the hallway "Go love birds!~" she singsonged.
Y/n Pov
I watched the two soulmates walk down the hallway until they disappeared. Afterward, I turned and entered the dorm, and crashed onto the couch. My thoughts drifted back a certain teacher's pet. Soon I drifted off into a deep sleep.
I woke up to the smell of breakfast that permeated through the air. I sat up and groaned as a sharp pain ran through my neck. "Nice to see you in the world of the living, sleeping beauty" Peggy called from the small dining room. I got up and trudge to the table "Morning...".  Peggy was setting up some microwavable waffles with fresh berries on top. "Eat up class start soon." Peggy giggles as I started shoveling waffles into my mouth.
Soon threw away the paper plate (what we're broke college students) and rushed off to get ready. After doing my morning routine, Peggy and I headed off to my least favorite class ever. Upon entering the classroom only a few student littered the desk. Of course, Alexander was there chatting with John. We quickly took our seats and took out our notebooks. "How was your date with Herc?" I asked Peggy while scribbling something down in pen. Pegs went into a full detailed story on how 'fantastic her date was.
I smirked at how lovestruck she was before we were interrupted by someone clearing their throat. There stood Alexander with a charming smile looking me in the eyes. "Excuse me, can I borrow a pen, Miss?" He asked. I shrugged and replied "Sure, choose one"
But instead of the world staying in monotone only to color wash over the bleak colors. My eyes darted everywhere before settling on beautiful brown eyes. Alexander's face had a shocked looked while staring at me. Peggy kept glance between us. "Um...Is there something I'm missing here?" She questioned.
Alexander's shocked face slowly turn into a smirk as he took your hand in his. "My name is Alexander Hamilton. And can I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" I quickly responded with "Y/n" to which he brought my hand up to his lips. ' I wonder how those lips feel against mine...' I thought before gulping.
Alexander still my hand and look down at my collection of pens "Woah." I promptly down to see so many different colored pens scattered across my writing space. A sense of pride flooded me at my collection. Peggy muttered "Told ya you're addicted to pens.." to which I stuck my tongue out at her.
Alexander chuckled before eyeing a fancy olive green pen. I followed his line of sight before picking up said pen. "Here I want you to have it." holding it out with a smile. Alexander quickly grinned back and graciously took the pen. "Thank you, Y/n"
Peggy snickered as we talked a bit more before he went back to his seat. "So I'm guessing you found your soulmate?" she questioned. I sighed before slouching in my seat, completely helpless. Not even writing a 5-page essay could kill my good mood.
