The Klown gods Sock, Buskin and Muse

The two Klown gods are just like their human equivalent name sakes, the comedy and tragedy masks. 

Buskin is typically associated with misfortune

Sock is typically associated with fortune

Two sides of the same coin, of sorts, and are actually the same god but will show you a different face based on your fortune.

Regardless of which is “being spoken to” klowns can praise either based on their own preferences. Speaking to an effigy of Sock like it’s Buskin will still allow a klown to communicate with Buskin.

Sock is heavily praised by those still on their home planet of Karnival, as everyday life there is heavily saturated with carny like activities and foods and such.

Buskin is heavily praised by those on invading force ships, as the klowns on those ships often pray to him in an effort to cast misfortune on the planets they invade.

There’s also Muse, who is a separate entity that klowns praise and pray to specifically for talent and skill. Regardless of those wanted skills being music, art, agility or invasion based.

SOCKS AND BUSKINS: ENSTARS OCS UNIT!:

Okay, okay. So it's a three unit group that had theater motifs, each song is supposed to be a story and deal with comedy/tragedy (hence the name). The unit members are José Díaz(Silent King), Sierra Rivera (Double-faced Queen), and "Frecil" Frederico Rivera(Blind Jester).

I'm still trying to figure out the uniforms for the unit, but I'm thinking of basing it off the fairy court from Midsummer's night (Oberan, Tirana, and Puck) or something similar to that aspect. Keep switching between light greens/earth tones and more royal colors. All I know is that each unit member will have some motifs for their character that they play.

Each song is supposed to tell a story—first starting off with one of the characters (Jester, Queen, or King) setting the stage and telling the audience what they think is happening verus what's actually happening. Much like a musical or play. Each character has a different point of view of each event/past songs, and it changes from either tragic to comedic really quickly. I want to explore the relationship between tweaking a story/how comedy and tragedy are linked/etc. And how easy it is to change the perceptive.

Funny enough, all the idols in this unit are trans—I didn't realized this until a few weeks ago.

Also, disabled as well—José has a arm prosthetic and is selective mute while Frecil is legally blind. This does cause some issues with getting shows done, it just means that they have to do things a little differently. Something I'm willing to explore more.

Sierra has a hearing aid, but I need to do more research into hearing aids/hearing loss—so please be patient with me^^!

The Silent King and The Blind Jester are supposed to be semi-foils. The story of Socks and Buskins is still being fleshed out atm.

José is actually the writer for the story with Frecil being the co-writer. Frecil composes the music and Sierra does the choreography.

The unit was founded by both Frecil and José. Despite Frecil being very, very, experienced in the idol world—they gave the leadership/"King" position to José. Frecil acts more like a guide/mentor towards José and sometimes Sierra. Sierra and Frecil are recent step-siblings (both their mothers met due to the creation of the unit, yes its hell)

Aela "Cherry" Barbasdotter is their sole producer. She's been with the unit since near the start of its creation and damn, very very overprotective to the point that its suffocating.

Anyway, that's it so far~! I'm really excited to, well, get character sheets down for these guys~! I've been working on them for quite a while, and kinda just upped the silliness/antics a bit more due to the media being—well— Enstars. Also, I wanted to touch roots with my amateur theater kid sooo~!

Will you be there? Will you sit with us? Or do you need to be on stage too? What's it like to run a show ?? ❞ And, yes, all the insatiable curiosity a child can possess, too.

"Princess!" Exclaimed the face of many comedic faces, Sock, with a bend of the knee closed the distance between the two and Charlie; pushing Buskin to mirror the action with a slight delay. Lifting Charlie to sit upon their bent knee with a supportive hand against her back for balance. The perfect seat to level with the tiny princess. "Yes, yes, yes, and--" anticipation is rolled out with a drumroll by Buskin "--you're going to see a pinch of what we do behind the curtains."

"We were going to ask your mother if you'd like to see behind the stage and welcome the guests with us. You can say, 'welcome, residents of hell and enjoy the show,' with a big strong voice." Buskin explains with a soft-spoken string of words. “Your mother already knows. It’s now up to you unless you’re not interested. We’ll just have to find another to fill the part. Do you know any talented, singing, rosy cheeked, and wonderful demons willing? They need to check every box.”

"Yeah! Who do we know that can do ALL of that?" Sock exclaims as they begin to play up the act; scanning the area over Charlies head. "I don't think I can allow to show to continue without our opener!"

Any ways.. UMM!! I'll talk about Thalia (comedy) and Melphomene (tragedy) here i think since I don't post about them near at all!

They're sort of a case of, does bad shit for no reason except they do have a reason! It just sucks. They were those theatre kids that got way to into it and now take being Shakespeare nerds way too far. They have no reason to hurt people and take away their pokemon (possibly their life too), they just do it for the theatrics of it all, for the tragedy! However, Melphomene takes it.. much more serious than Thalia

(Some people choose not to have holiday asks because of multiple reasons so I always try to ask so if they don’t they can use my ask to establish the boundaries) With consent secured, What are the BAL!Boys Halloween costumes? Or would it be what Fazbear makes them wear vs what they’d like to wear? I could throw the cliché “Dr.Jeckell and Mr.Hyde”, but I think Fazbear would stick with tried and true Universal Monsters Lineup which does include Phantom of the Opera. Maybe they could lean into Monty’s nicknames and dress themselves as Comedy and Tragedy.

I had some fun sketching different costumes, but I think that, like you said, they'd probably stick with Universal Monster Lineup (which, ironically, I didn't have time to draw)

Or maybe more like when a company themes a character after a monster, but they're very much still their own marketable face fgljgd

Like - slap a bat-shaped bow-tie on that bad boy and call that 'vampire sun' or something fjkdjkl YN and the boys would take that and run with it to make actual costumes.

So at first, I drew costumes I think would look cool/fit them well - Jack Skelling-Sun and, uh, Moon Beetle (from Thumbelina! I like that sleazy guy fgkld he owns a cabaret bar in the movie)

That being said!!! I did draw "Sock and Buskin" (tragedy and comedy)! But also I feel like they'd think it's funny to switch the expectations around on who's who! Y/N is a happy-sad clown, while they're jesters with Pierrot and Harlequin elements!

Matching Jacquimo Sun (beloved) for Moon Beetle, and the dress Beetle makes Thumbelina wear on YN. They would bump into everything all the time and the boys think its hilarious.

Matching Oogie Boogie Moon who's wearing a lazy onesie but having fun with it, and I felt like Sally YN was too cliché so I made them the Mayor fljkd Man, remember when you were a kid and had to wear a whole-ass winter coat under your costume and couldn't move your arms at all? Yeah... Cozy though!

Ironically enough, I haven't drawn the Monster Costumes yet, but if all goes well I plan on doing that today (Halloween!) I'll prob add it to another Halloween ask! (Edit: I did not fgjkldkl I drew candy and finished the Jack and Beetle colors)

Anyway I have some silly little headcanons of my own

I'm bad at drawing unstructured characters so I gave her faux bones just so I could understand how to draw her then I ran with it.

Also I hc that they go by more names (and always Gangle, don't get me wrong) depending on mood! Sock when she has the comedy mask on, Buskin when the tragedy mask is revealed, then I also hc that she also has an angry mask (???) just bc I've seen some versions of the buskin mask that look angry. She calls herself Medusa when shes like that bc 1) keeping with the greek theme, 2) how she looks when she's that upset, and 3) everyone around her tends to sort of freeze up because it's such an unexpected and startling situation

Also I keep seeing glitter or bandages but has anyone considered:

Kintsugi. It's pretty AND serves the function

Crimson Troupe members and their roles

explanation:

Sock (thin soled-shoe with low heels) and Buskin (boots with high heels) are footwear used in Greek theatre to represent comedic actors and tragic actors respectively. They are also used to refer to comedy and tragedy masks - the symbol of theatre as a whole, are used in the Crimson Troupe logo. Appropriately, most active crimson troupe members wear Buskin, the footwear that represents tragedy.

Interesting to note:

- despite being the protagonist of a tragedy, Blood Diamond wears Socks

- despite not being a performer, Playwright wears Buskin
