“the incalculable loss of twitter” hey
hey
remember when MySpace used to be a thing?
:)
it’s shitty that Elon Musk is single-handedly killing a site. it’s shitty how quickly he’s doing it.
but social media media sites falling in and out of favor isn’t new. it happened to MySpace, to Facebook, to tumblr, and now twitter. Twitter wasn’t even a good platform, it was just what was popular. but any following creatives built on twitter doesnt directly correspond to sales (like. under 15%) or even their actual audience. it sucks rebuilding a following on a new site, but anyone active and sticking with social media will follow a creative. this isn’t a new process, it happens every few years, twitters collapse is just happening faster than typical. but that’s just part of being online, sites go in and out of favor or just die.
yeah, it’s shit it’s happening because of one man’s tantrum as he tries to avoid responsibilities. but it’s seriously not that big of a deal

hm. i think acting like the current discourse is a first reaction to one misstep is a little reductive and misinformed, and i think there have clearly been underlying issues for a while now, dating back to the french joining and being ignored at every turn or the eggs going missing arc or purgatory or whatever view-changing event you want to begin your analysis from. it’s reasonable for fans to be frustrated about it, especially if it’s dismantling a section of the media they enjoyed the most; and as much as you can say sit back and let the admins work their magic, i think over the course of the past few months and mistakes a lot of viewers have lost faith solely bc there have been a lot of missteps and on top of that missteps without reconciliation, and there is a fear and very real possibility that it will not get resolved. and that’s ok too! people are also allowed to blog about that though like this is the blog site

A message to the recent & future transgender pick-mes.
If you’re a trans pick-me (no matter where you align with gender) there’s a special place in Hell just for you & I don’t even believe in Hell. Having trauma isn’t excusing your actions of going out of your way to hurt other people actively. It explains that it comes from a place of hurt potentially or you’re just turning into a rage-bait influencer because it makes you money. Either way you come after trans people who don’t do being trans exactly like you so they “aren’t really trans.” You get a taste of the right-wing rage-bait money pot & you wanna keep going because money & maybe some weird part of you thinks this will save you from transphobic attacks? Honey, we’re all just fags to them no matter how we look or act. Even if you’re a cis person not following the norm or unaware of the politics of it all, you’re still just a faggot to them who they will eventually want to snuff out. I’m saying this as a tranny fag just to be clear! You can’t be playing these exclusion games & thinking it’s going to make you powerful! Even Milo Yionnapolis or whatever that fucker’s name was got dropped by the Trump Administration! They do not like us & they never will like us! Democrat, republican, whatever it is; if it’s capitalist, it doesn’t like us! No matter how much you lick those boots, it’ll do you no good. You’re a faggot/tranny just like me & the rest of us, that’s how these suits see it & always will see it no matter how much you try to prove “I’m one of the good ones.” They aren’t going to save you, we’re all on the chopping block to them no matter what our politics are. These government folks don’t see any of us as “one of the good ones.” Get over yourself, grow the fuck up, and stand side-by-side with your transsexual siblings! All we have is each other, these cis people aren’t shit! 💜 Down with cis! 💜

On tumblr when you post you’re just playing Russian roulette with your post getting attention, but it’ll probably get ignored.
On Reddit any comment you make outside of some very niche community will immediately have someone downvoting you and calling you like, three different insults. Then they will wonder why you only log in every couple months. Like, it’s a very helpful website when you have a question for another community you’re in, but you’ll also get someone being immediately hostile when you make an innocuous post on a garden subreddit 😑
At least on tumblr people have to actually seek out your random ass text posts and go out of their way to start shit, and you don’t have the up and down vote system that feels like playing with my self confidence and worth issues.
Both websites are toxic part of the time (what social media isn’t?) and both are actually more useful for weird people, but holy shit does Reddit feel more aggressive about shit. Maybe it’s just the devil you know, but at least on this mess of a website half your hate will be for the most random shit and misunderstandings that people have to seek out finding if your blog is a normal size. Reddit is either posting on a dead sub or getting immediately thrown to the, well, sharks and wolves aren’t actually super aggressive towards humans under normal circumstances, so something else that could tear you apart instantly for just existing in the same space as them.

Hey could ads on tumblr not play music or sounds when I don’t event click on them? It would be great if ads didn’t constantly run while I’m using the app either. I’d also like it if ads didn’t just shove their way onto my screen on top of posts. I understand the need for ads, that they “need” to make money. But this website, this app, it’s bothersome enough to use with the constant horrible changes to the UI and policy that it doesn’t need literal pop up ads.

What holds more weight? Raw numbers of percentage of a people. Number of lives it’s touched or number of lives it hasn’t. Is it worse to lose 100 of something there will still be a handful of, or the last 5 of something leaving only one remaining

The thing about AO3 is that you have extensive tags and even with “Creator Chose Not to Warn”/less tagged works, you aren’t accosted by triggering visuals like with some other sites. It’s usually just tags and a brief summary.
Like that’s a plus for a non-visual website + the tagging system.*
*It’s still your issue if it’s correctly tagged with line Creator Chose Not Warn and it’s a trigger. That’s what the tag means. No warnings.

Almost felt bad for the people on the submersible when I learn about it a few days ago, then found out they’re rich people who signed a waiver that mentioned death multiple times on the first page. If you’re gonna be dumb you gotta be able to handle the consequences, and they 100% knew the risks. I mean, they were bolted in the damn thing from the outside. If that doesn’t make you back out then it’s your loss

I think that’s what I dislike the most abt tumblr is someone will be like “this popular thing is horrible and everyone who likes it is stupid please instead look into this incredibly more niche version of said thing that I like that is better because I’m better”The superiority complexes are rampant just say you like something else.

I’m gonna fucking explode the artfight site crashed twice (or my end I think? And it might have been thrice but it didn’t show the crash message the first time) while I tried to submit my last attack and now the fucking fight is over. Goddamnit. I contacted a mod about it PLEASE fucking tell me they can actually help. I literally first tried to hit submit a half fucking hour before the end of the fight and had to reenter TWENTY FUCKING EIGHT character IDs THREE TIMES. Like ffs. Crossing my fingers hoping the moss can actually help me get it in. There’s no way this doesn’t happen every year, they’ve GOTTA have a routine for this by now right? Idk man I spent two weeks on this massive painting like I just wanna get it turned in.
