I want Jason refusing to help the batfamily. Jason, who's picked up what little bit is left of his life after coming to the understanding that the love and care of most of the bats is entirely conditional, and moved away from Gotham to fully start healing. He doesn't have to contact them, and not having to appeal to their grandiose sense of morality makes his healing so much easier. It's messy still, but he finds that he's happy when he's away from the bats.

James thinks it might be the worst day of his life so far, and isn't sure what mischief he could have inflicted upon anyone to possibly deserve this cruel of a punishment.

Lily Evans is standing before him, face kind instead of pinched in annoyance as it so often is at his presence, and she's handing him something. As in, he will take it from her and their hands will brush. As in, her skin will touch his. As in, he's never going to wash his hand again.

"I'm glad I found you,-"

She's glad she found him!

"-I couldn't catch Sirius before he left Potions," She laments, "Could you let him know I made this for his cat, Potter?"

James's stellar brain and above-average intelligence supply him with the phrase, 'Huh?', which might possibly be the least embarrassing thing he's ever said to her, and that doesn't fare well.

"That's Sirius's new cat, isn't it?" She presses on, and James forces himself to tear his eyes off of her ethereal face to glance at you, draped lazily over the couch cushion beside him soaking up the warmth of the fire. Your eyes were lazy before Lily had shown up, but at the sight of what she's holding out; knitwear, they narrow and sharpen. It's an odd shape, not human size, with openings for four legs.

"I thought she might be getting cold now that the snow's started up," She tilts her chin towards the window, glazed over with frost, "And I just figured I could knit her a little sweater."

Not even James's fear of your claws can deter him from accepting the gift from Lily. He takes it - and their hands brush! Just like he'd hoped for! - grabbing you unceremoniously around the middle and dragging you onto his lap.

"She loves sweaters." He fibs, shamefully distracted by Lily's face as he tries wrestling you into the garment. You're well aware of why he's lying to her, because the last time you'd been faced with cat clothes, you'd ripped a hole in his bedspread. But this is Lily, and you refrain from shredding the fabric of his pants as he shoves you into the sweater.

He's clumsy with it, because he's not giving you his full attention, and you let out a disgruntled meow as he smears the fabric of the sweater over your face instead of tugging your head through the hole.

"Now, Mittens," He chuckles tensely, "Just- put your paw through there, don't scratch me-! And- there." He announces proudly, hoisting you up into the air just beneath the joints of your front paws. He displays you to Lily, and you steel yourself as she croons and reaches out to pet you. She's far gentler than the man holding you, and you'd appreciate it at any other point in time, but the sweater she'd knit you is itching against your fur and dragging it against the grain, and you'd like to leave it in ribbons as you bolt up the staircase. For everyone's sake, you won't.

"Look at that," James announces proudly, "She loves it. Thanks, Lily."

She smiles, a soft gesture, but not a weak one. She nods, "James," And takes her leave, heading towards the girls' dorms staircases, inevitably about to find your bed empty and wonder where you are at this hour of night.

"She said my name," James breathes, only after the door to your dorm has been safely shut, and she runs no risk of hearing him. He looks incredulously at you, in your tense, rigid stance on the couch cushions, "She didn't call me Potter! She- you're a miracle." James levels you with an intensely grateful stare, thumbing fondly at the knitwear that's itching viciously at your fur, "You're my wingman, Y/N. I mean it, you're putting that sweater on every day, I'll manhandle you into it myself."

You yowl at him, a sound that typically scares him off, but he doesn't yield, grinning impishly at you instead.

"Whatever you say, Mittens."

Thomas was the first person you ever met. Well, the first person you can remember meeting.

In the Box, screeching metal surrounding you with a (admittedly handsome) teenage boy freaking out, trying to wake you up. For some reason, you were a lot calmer than Thomas was. He was bouncing off of the walls and you were just sat on the floor trying to process what was going on.

Then the ceiling opened and Thomas became a human shield.

The Gladers that you would come to know, treated you like an object and a piece of meat, bar a few exceptions. They'd never seen a girl before, but Thomas was there to protect you and make sure they didn't dare lay a hand on you.

Not that it mattered because the second you were both out of the Box, the boy grabbed your wrist and made a sprint for it.

It had somehow silently been decided that you were going to stick with each other. Which included tripping over him when he fumbled over himself and face-planted, as Newt would say.

Though, after the initial shock, you both started to relax more. Joined at the hip, wherever one of you went, the other wouldn't be too far behind.

You learnt about each other at the same rate you learnt about yourselves.

Thomas is reckless- he acts before he thinks and isn't scared of getting in a fight. He also asks a lot of questions and is more than willing to tell everyone his opinion.

You, however, are calmer. You think things through and explore more options. You prefer to let Thomas do the talking and get himself in trouble whilst you're there to try and solve whatever problem he's caused.

And you learnt this is a very small space of time.

Apart from Thomas, you get along with Newt, probably because he is one of the most respectful, and Alby, because he's more than willing to kill anyone that hurts you. Oh, and Chuck- Thomas thinks he's kind of annoying, but you already adore the small boy.

So, when Thomas gets attacked by Ben and Alby and Minho have to go into the Maze after his Banishment, you have a bad feeling about it.

You join Thomas and Newt at the giant Glade Doors, staring down the incredibly long and daunting corridor that almost feels twisting and nauseating. How Minho spends every day out there is beyond you- not that you've ever actually spoken to the guy.

Chuck stands next to you, anxiously looking between Thomas and a very stoic looking Newt. You put your hand on his shoulder.

"They're gonna be fine, Chuck," you smile at him. "Promise."

Glancing at Thomas, you brush your hand against his, making him look at you before he accepts the gesture. Intertwining his fingers with yours, you attempt to playfully nudge him.

Thomas has already become very passionate and caring about everyone here. And with his determination to be a Runner, you can tell he holds Minho very highly despite neither of you having anything to do with him.

"Whatcha thinkin' about?" He scoffs, taking a second to let your reassuring presence calm him.

He hesitates. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't developed a crush on you. Well, a lot of people have developed a crush on you because you're the only girl, but you and Thomas have some kind of connection. It's obvious the creators see it too, since you came up with him.

And the feeling is mutual.

"If Minho and Alby don't come back, what are our chances of actually getting out of here?" Thomas says. You understand what he means. Minho knows the Maze better than anyone, and Alby has survived all this time.

"They're gonna make it." Newt repeats himself for what must be the fifth time.

"Newt, they-"

"He's right," you cut Thomas off. "They're gonna make it."

Over time, a crowd begins to form, and Thomas is starting to squeeze your hand a lot harder, shifting on his feet and fiddling with anything he can find. The boy is stressed. At some point, Chuck decided to hold your other hand, so now your holding the hands of two very anxious teenage boys, acting like their mother.

The Doors closing time is drawing dangerous near, and you're starting to get stressed yourself. You stare at the ground, only for your breath to catch in your throat when you look back up.

"There!" You shout, a blur of motion catching your attention as Minho struggles to carry your unconscious leader.

Almost as soon as they emerge, the Doors start to move.

"They're not gonna make it," Newt mumbles. You and Chuck exchange glances, seemingly having the same idea. Letting go of both boys, you cup your hands around your mouth.

"Minho! Come on!" You shout. "You can do it!"

"Come on, Minho!" Chuck joins in, and soon the entire Glade is cheering on the Keeper to return. Some people even telling him to leave Alby, and it doesn't take a genius to tell that Minho isn't going to do that.

"I'm sorry," Thomas grabs your wrist, making you look at him.

"What?"

Without warning, Thomas bolts forward into the Maze. Newt tries to grab him but misses as he squeezes through the Doors, which close with a thud as he just about makes it to the other side.

The crowd stands there in a stunned silence.

You, Newt and Chuck all remain where you stand, almost like if you move, what just happened will become real.

You look at Newt, who stands with his fists balled. Your hand comes to the Doors, your face crunshing as you touch the stone, almost like you're willing it to open.

Newt takes a deep breath. "Everyone bed, now." He commands.

"But, Newt-" Zart starts.

"Now." He sighs. "We can't do anything about this now- and Alby's left me in charge. Bed. Go!"

The crowd disperses, slowly, until it's just you and Chuck left, with Newt standing just behind you.

Your forehead bumps against the stone as a sob shakes your body. The situation has finally set in and you can't stop the tears.

"Hey," Newt puts his hand on your shoulder, "if anyone can survive out there; it's Minho." You raise your head, looking at him and pushing your lips into a thin line. "Get some rest." He gives you a friendly boyish tap and turns to leave.

You look at Chuck, who is sitting on the floor now.

Thomas was the first person you ever met and the only person here you actually trust, so the weird feeling of loneliness and presumptuous guilt hits more than you expected.

You also sit down, taking your place next to Chuck and ignoring Newt's orders.

"They might make it," Chuck says. "Minho knows the Maze more than anyone- if Thomas is with him, he might be okay."

You sit there for what feels like forever, but you have no intention of leaving. Neither does Chuck.

Newt comes over several times in an attempt to get either of you to move, which falls completely flat and he eventually gives up. Though, he does bring you both blankets.

Chuck falls asleep after a while, and you let him use your leg as a pillow. But you stay awake.

You've known Thomas for only a few days but it feels like your whole entire life. You, for some reason, even liked Thomas when he was just a random boy you were trapped in a box with that didn't even know his name.

And now he was gone.

You were drifting in and out of consciousness when Chuck jumps up. That and the loud sounds of the Doors opening startles you back to reality. Sitting in the same position all night definitely wasn't good for your back but you have different priorities.

Scrambling to your feet, Chuck gets the other Gladers' attention and a small crowd forms, Newt leading the group.

It's like your surroundings become static and nothing feels real as the corridor remains empty.

People start to move away, with Newt putting his hand on the small of your back in an attempt to comfort you, making you look at him.

"No way," Zart mumbles, making your attention snap back to the Maze. Rounding the corner is Thomas and Minho, both exhausted and struggling to drag Alby back to the Maze.

You freeze, relief and shock overwhelming you as you stare at them. Cheers break out as they reach the Glade, dropping to their knees and panting.

"Did you see a Griever?" Chuck asks- because of course he does.

"Yeah," Thomas pants, "I saw one."

"He didn't just see it; he killed it." Minho adds, causing a new air of unease to spread across the crowd.

"Alright," Newt clears his throat, "get to the Med hut- all of you. We gotta make sure you're not shuckin' dyin' or some klunk."

Clint and Jeff help grab Alby. Minho and Thomas pick themselves up.

Thomas pauses, looking at you.

"You're a fucking idiot," you say, watching as Thomas nervously swallows, opening his mouth but he doesn't get chance to speak.

"Oi, Greenie," Minho calls after him, "let's go!"

You jolt your head in the direction of the Keeper, silently telling Thomas to go.

"Are you happy to see him or do you wanna se him?" Chuck asks, clearly more chipper than you.

"Both?"

He laughs.

You leave them to it as Thomas and Minho get patched up. But it's a weird feeling. You replayed it in your head- you expected to dive into his arms, confess your feelings or some shit.

But you just stood there.

Unmoving. And unsure what to do.

You watch Thomas leave the hut, talking briefly to Newt before making a beline for you as you sit at the edge of the Deadheads.

You look up at him from your seat in front of an old tree, pushing your lips into a thin line.

"Hi." He says.

"Hey." You respond.

"Newt wants us to have some Gathering in Council Hall." He awkwardly rocks on his heels. "He wants us all there. The Glade' goin' crazy."

"Why would you do that?"

"What?"

"Run into the Maze?"

"I had to help," he sighs, "I couldn't just leave them-"

"You could've died!" You snap, making Thomas jump. Your voice breaks slightly, the emotions of last night coming back up. "I would've lost you." The last part comes out as more of a whisper.

Thomas sighs, moving and crouching so he can sit next to you.

"Don't worry," he looks at you, slipping his fingers into yours as your arms fall falt at your sides. "I'm never leaving you."

You look at him out of the corner of your eye. Overwhelmed by feelings and unsure what else to do, you lean in.

Kissing him in the cheek, Thomas' body immediately tenses and his skin quickly becomes warm and red. You pull back, struggling to repress the smirk of your flustered friend.

"You know," he mumbles, facing you properly, "Minho ran off and left me, and all I could do was think about getting back to you. I was going to get back to you- whatever it took."

Your heart beat picks up as he glances at your lips for a second. "I like you, (Y/N). I feel... connected to you. I don't get it and I don't remember why, but you're all I think about even though I spend all my time with you. And I guess nearly dying has made me say it."

You smiles, and the images somehow makes him more flustered. "I- uh, I want- I mean-"

"Shut up, Thomas," you lean in, brushing you nose against his and giving him a hint, which he takes.

Your body feels on fire when he kisses you, and the relief that he's still here hits you all over again. He's safe here, and he's not going anywhere.

"Oi!" Newt's voice scares the shit out of you both. "I told you shanks we have a Gathering! Quit makin' out and get your sorry butts to Council Hall!"

You sit there, both of you blinking at Newt, who clearly isn't properly equipped to deal with this because he leaves pretty quick.

Thomas chuckles, standing up and offering you a hand. You smile, taking it and allowing him to help you up.

He isn't going anywhere, and he's yours.

Ok, so firstly, I absolutely LOVE the dynamic between Callisto and Oliver. Just, Oliver trusting his big bro so much, and Callisto caring and protecting his little bro is just *mwa*.

Second (the actual question, lol), does Callisto ever figure out that he wasn't gonna hurt Oliver when he nomed him? And if he does, does it come up again? Like - does Oliver get in more trouble, and Callistos just like - "agh gotta save my baby bro!!" Nom.

Just overall, any info about them you're willing to give me I would absolutely die for. I love them and their dynamic so fricking much, and the fact that its platonic, tbh just makes it better. So many people focus on the romance part of vore, that I just get so excited when I see something like this!! So so lovely!!!

YES!! While i do think that the romance part of vore is pretty cool i find that there’s not a whole bunch of platonic stuff out there either.

While cal is dealing with the existential dread of knowing the full extent of his inhumanness, he’s also trying to figure out why there’s an increased number of reported attacks. theyre dismissed as bear attacks, crazy accidents, etc, and he’s getting suspicious as to why they’re all getting written off so quickly.

Also, despite promising oliver that he’ll stay, cal still keeps his distance because his instincts start acting up around oli and he has no idea what to make of them. He’s terrified of himself and what he could possibly do to his family.

Ethel comes up with family counseling, which is basically just one on one Cal and Oliver. It’s horribly awkward and it feels weird for both of them because they used to be super close and now neither know what to say.

it takes a while and they try to mend their relationship although there's setbacks and some misunderstandings that need to be cleared up. Callisto also is reluctantly convinced to delve deeper into his not so human parts of himself if only to find out if he's genuinely a threat to his loved ones.

surprise surprise, he manages to find out that 1. he doesn't really want to murder his little brother or his family (yay!) and 2. now that his brain has finally caught up with the rest of his biological instincts, he's slightly more open to exploring the rest of what he can do. slightly. he's not overly enthusiastic but its a start, at least.

meanwhile Oliver is struggling with nightmares and though he knows that Cal really wasn't trying to kill him (he was informed immediately after Cal figured it out) its kinds hard to get rid of the fear. it's weird for him since he desperately wants his brother to stay and he wants to spend time with him like he used to, he just can't get over it and it's so frustrating. he's struggling and while he is getting better slowly, it's still impacting him. his trust has been shaken though. on bad days he can't take being in enclosed, dark spaces and he hates the warmth of his blankets twisted around him at night.

in the future, Cal will become secure enough with his identity to accept the fact that he gets weird urges every now and then and they're not the murderous sort. Oliver gets frustrated with his slow improvement and just decides to confront his fears head on, hoping that it'll just solve the problem all together and just asks Cal to nom him.

Cal is incredibly hesistant, but agrees nonetheless since Oliver says it'll help him. plus his instincts are going nuts in his head and while he has the will to ignore them, he can't deny how content he'd be with finally satisfying them. it goes okay, but a definite improvement from last time and Oliver manages to overcome some of his more irrational fears. still some setbacks but overall, not the worst. they're still improving :)

congrats, lucky anon! i got extremely inspired writing this, so have some incredibly messy headcanons. theyre all over the place and at some point its just me info-dumping about said characters, my dearest apologies.

3. How does he behave around his crush?

Floyd is quick to fixate on something that catches his attention, and you aren't the exception.

At first you might believe he just loves messing with you, and he thinks the same actually! He's not aware of his crush on you for quite a long time actually.

Whenever he's bored he might just go to look for you to tease you and see what kind of funny reactions you'll give him! — And at the slightest hint of you hating him his mood will drop for reasons he doesn't understand.

There are some things that give him away.

He might be in the worst mood ever, but just seeing you around makes him feel instantly better. Jade and Azul constantly ask for your help to 'fix him' when he's feeling down — They're the first ones to notice his obvious crush for this same reason.

Even if he IS in a bad mood — he always finds the energy and motivation to help you if you need him.

The way he's overly protective of you. Nobody is allowed to mess with you except him!

And sometimes your real name will slip out of his mouth. No he doesn't find it weird to call you by your name. Why are you so surprised?

He's also like a puppy following you around sometimes, it starts as just wanting to tease you a bit — but then as the weeks go on you start to see him more and more often, to the point where the majority of time you aren't in class Floyd is probably either with you or looking for you.

He slowly becomes such an important part of your life that it becomes weird when he's not with you for a few hours.

And yeah… Still, he accepts his feelings as just something normal and doesn't think much of it — he doesn't question his relationship with you at all.

At this point, there are two things that might happen to make him confess. Jade and Azul have to make an intervention (Azul takes it completely seriously while Jade just wants to see how things will go) because Floyd keeps sneaking out from work to see you. The point is to convince him to confess in hopes of fixing the problem.

Or… He might kiss you out of impulse too.

He was alone with you, you were probably talking about your day and… his mind was elsewhere — it was clear he wasn't paying attention to what you were saying, he was too distracted with your lips. His brain just told him "I want to kiss shrimpy" and he did not question it.

Rook is… complicated.

Like Floyd, tends to fixate on whatever catches his eye — but he's more subtle about it.

Rook will notice instantly the way his heart beats a bit faster when hearing your voice, or the way his stomach starts to feel butterflies when you smile at him.

Yes, he does often… obsess over specific people, but this time is different — he doesn't consider you a prey (at least not JUST a prey) and while he does still 'hunt' for you his intentions are different..

Whenever you interact with him, you might think Rook just started to think of you just like he thinks of someone like Leona or Malleus — if you don't know him you won't be able to tell the difference. And that's fine! Only a few can tell.

Rook loves to read you poems in french that convey all his feelings for you, he knows you can't understand him… but that's the point! He loves doing things that border the line of friendship and love, like kissing you in the cheek a bitt close to the lips, or saying some things that sound a bit too cheesy to be just platonic love. And since it's Rook, it's hard to tell!

He's always giving you mixed signals and finds it amusing when you're trying to figure out what he means.

Everyone who knows him closely (Vil) thinks his crush for you is incredibly obvious. Unfortunately for Vil, he can understand french — which means he can understand the poems Rook writes for you. This is bad for him because they always make him cringe due to how cheesy they are and always ALWAYS lets out a sigh afterwards because you are completely clueless and it's so frustrating he just wants you two to get together already.

Rook isn't a jealous person, but he can be quite possessive.

I mentioned before that some of the boys were possessive with your attention — Rook is like that as well!

But unless it is too bad and you're almost blatantly ignoring him — he'll just… try to get your attention by either flirting with you or scaring the person you were talking to away. We all know how unsettling Rook can be.

And when he wants your attention he NEEDS IT and is willing to do anything to get it.

He's also very protective.

Whenever you're talking to someone he always ends up putting his hand on your waist or holding your hand. It's an instinct, he won't notice if you don't point it out.

Overall slightly possessive and isn't aware of it.

Floyd would fall for someone who is both interesting and patient with him.

It always starts as him trying his best to mess with you, and if you give him interesting reactions then he's probably not going to stop!

But in all seriousness, whether you always have a comeback for his words or you basically can't handle his teasing at all for any reason — if you genuinely do get mad at him then it will stay as just that: teasing.

Show him that you care, the first time he might feel butterflies is when you try to uplift his mood — a feeling that at first he might not recognize, but whatever it is, he starts craving it desperately.

It's the fact that you care, the way you treat him and how you take him seriously. The way you don't just say "it's just a mood swing" and leave him alone, it's just… the way you actually have enough patience with him to try to help him.

Floyd has been told so many times that his brother is better than him in some way or another, and even if he does not hold this against Jade — it still hits hard nevertheless. While he might not say it out loud, he loves the feeling of someone liking him more than his brother for once.

Patience again, because he's slowly realizing his feelings — he doesn't know what is the nice feeling in his chest when he makes you smile, but he likes it a lot. Floyd needs time to understand what's going on and yeah, it takes a long time until he actually realizes.

I actually wrote something similar for Rook before but I love him so…

This is insanely hard actually — he's the hunter of love and all but… it's incredibly weird for him to actually fall for someone.

He doesn't have any specific type, which makes things harder. You just have to stand out… but what's the criteria?

Alright, you might be the most interesting person on earth but still, he might just see you as another prey and nothing more. But there are a few things, and yes, simple as they might sound — they become harder due to the kind of person Rook is.

It always starts with him getting slightly interested in you. As I said, you have to stand out (even if it's just a bit) it's the easiest way! You don't have to do much, the whole 'be yourself' thing is literal.

But he might be even more interested if you don't seem to dislike him in your first encounter. He might want to see how far he can go to see the way you react!

It's a slow process, but as time goes he genuinely starts to appreciate you.

But this is how you can become friends with him! There's some other things you have to do.

As I said, he's very complex, and he prides himself on that fact. But that doesn't mean he's completely unpredictable.

Like I mentioned in my old post, something that gets his heart pumping is whenever you're able to guess something about him. Whether it's something small as just being able to tell whenever he's saying something just to mess with you or telling whenever something makes him upset or mad — he loves it. He tends to hide even the smallest stuff so he loves whenever you're able to see right through him.

Well… if it was someone else, Rook wouldn't be as pleased.

As I said, he prides himself in being someone people struggle to understand — after all, being vulnerable means you could get hunted, but you're already past that stage. He trusts you, so even if it's a weird feeling for him… he starts to enjoy the idea of being known.

The moment he starts to genuinely fall for you is when he feels able to be vulnerable, to let you know tiny bits about him — slowly letting you into his heart.

another day another divine vision. let me tell you about italys entitlement to love pipeline. so see italy loves to sleep around he loves da ladies da one night stands and most certainly aint about that commitment bullshit. it isnt out of malice or anything its just he cant really see the appeal hes like bruhhhh that is SO not worf it :/ blehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... and like holy rome was when he was 7 okay that doesnt really count since when italy was 7 he also used to believe girls couldnt fart a lot of things were different at that time. but see i think italy is able to fall in love with germany despite his commitment issues because he also has a raging sense of entitlement. italy is the opposite and exactly the same as romano. romano is possessive as shit because hes the unloved brother that got nothing so when he gets something he hoards it to himself while italy is entitled as shit because hes the ultra loved by everyone child and always wins out in the end so he feels like he deserves everything at the end of the day. he isnt a bad guy but hes a bit of a spoiled brat to his core because of this since he can easily feel entitled to things after a while. and see italys love for germany hinges upon that entitlement being activated.

but i think this is able to morph into love because over time italy unconciously starts feeling entitled to germany. germany is so loyal and always there for him so hard that italy starts to feel entitled to this treatment because no matter what he does no matter how scum gong or batshit he can be germany will always see him as a perfect angel who could never have ill will (and only kills him out of incompetence) and welcomes him with open arms. italy starts to feel like germany is SUPPOSED to be with him. that it isnt right if germany isnt because italy is entitled to him already obviously and this is why italy starts developing jealousy and is like wtf germany is supposed to like ME most! Its unconcious and he doesnt really think about it too hard but his entitlement slowly grows over time and although it makes him be like GERMANY YOU CANT LIKE RUSSIA MORE THAN ME!!!! it still leaves him being selfish where he leaves germany to die by pictonians lol. the entitlement is able to morph into love though because it becomes so strong that italy one day realizes that hell feel so much intense discomfort if germany isnt by his side. he feels like germany is supposed to be with him hes supposed to like italy best and always pamper and spoil him and be obsessed only with italy and let only italy do special things nobody else can do. and it keeps growing until he realizes what he feels is love. because he realizes that there isnt anything he can think of thats worth more than his relationship with germany. he feels so entitled to germanys life that hes willing to give his own life up to keep their lives intertwined forever. hes willing to give up his freedom in exchange for germanys loyalty since now he cant see himself enjoying his life without it. its become such a common pleasure that its impossible to go on unless he has it. even if not being able to screw as he pleased will make him deeply unhappy, not having germany by his side would make him infinitely more unhappy. he might hate doing shit for people, but he would hate germany being hurt and alone 1000x more than how much he hates getting his ass up and doing him a favor. and THATS how italy realizes that he is so very totally in gays with germany chan forever since hes willing to do anything to keep him in his life and lucky for him he doesnt have to do anything except make their loyalty mutual. hashtag itager babywin!

the fab four as ghosts is an interesting concept that ive never really thought about before!!! i mean i wrote one fic once kind of abt party as a ghost but that wasnt really the main focus.. anyways, there's a tooooon of super cool ways to explore that concept just in how they died alone. like is this a post sing thing where they all died together saving the girl? if thats the case i could easily see them following her around over the years, using what limited connection to the physical world they have to influence minor things and keep her safe as she grows up alone in the desert. or maybe (bc im a sucker for ghosts who dont remember their mortal lives) they have no memory of the girl or each other but they all decide to stick together bc they're scared and confused and There and they just kind of wander around together until they stumble upon the girl and they feel this strange pull to Protect Her

or if it's not post sing and they've all died in different ways, maybe this is an au and they meet as ghosts and they become known as this phantom crew, legends that wander the zones and take out dracs in the dead of night, only to be seen by those already well aquatinted with death

as for individual behaviors, i think taking the name fun ghoul literally would be really fucking cool. im pretty sure the general consensus abt ghouls is that they haunt graveyards so maybe ghoul specifically hangs around grounds where lots of death occurs, like common grounds for bli ambushes and firefights and shit. it's absolutely br the most annoying ghost ever, going out of his way to spook people by doing alll the classic horror movie shit. that motherfucker is howling and making weird noises in the dead of night, he is levitating objects and moving shit that shouldn't move and flickering lights and just being a general menace to the living

i think party would take a LONG time to accept the fact that they're dead, if they ever even admit it to themself at all. i feel like they have this sort of bitter, jaded relationship with death and the witch and the whole concept of the afterlife, and admitting that they're a ghost would be admitting that all the shit they weren't sure if they believed in was real the while time. and too, depending on how they died, i could easily see them having a sort of bitter breakdown over the fact that they've just been allowed to die with no fanfare. they've literally given their life for this cause and now that theyre dead and nothings changed or is changing it feels like they lived their whole life for nothing, like they lived their whole life wrong almost.

jet and kobra im having less immediate thoughts on. out of all of them, though, i think jet would be the most likely to try and find a way back to life. idk if youve read ttid but uh. yeah. i see her a bit like that, where she refuses to accept that this is the end of her story and she tries whatever she can to make it continue

kobra as a ghost i think would change a lot depending on how he died. if it was something out if his control like illness or a bad run on the crash track i think hed be more "go with the flow it is what it is" about it. if he was killed though he would dedicate his afterlife to revenge, and maybe actually no matter how he died hed end up becoming vengeful after long enough bc hed star thinking about why he was even put under the circumstances to die in the desert and hed think about his hatred for bli... yeah actually no matter what i think hed become a vengeful spirit!! hed go and hun down whoever killed him and make them fucking suffer, and then hed go and do the same for every drac and ever crow, every exterminator he can get his hands on. his mortal life was horrible and he is going to spend his afterlife making sure the ones responsible for his suffering get what they fucking deserve

uhh heres a good place to start for lore-grounding! alexander graves is a ghost from the 1500s who now serves in the court of the queen of monsters, notably being the only male member of the high court. hes far from a strong fighter, though his strengths are that as a ghost he cannnot die- and that for a ghost, hes VERY good at pretending to be alive

he has a confident, well-spoken air about him but its not hard to pin him as a more introverted, even shy person under it. the sort of person who would prefer keep their head down and go back to their business quietly, but one who holds the people close to him in an adoring regard. (hes NOT in the high court for his power after all- his value is in his kindness) hes been a diligent seamster since a young age & in-canon most of the clothing designs of characters under the queen can be credited to him lol

marcus deangelo THE BIRD BOY OF ALL TIME is alex's notably more introverted angel son. he tends to take the role of the silly goon/errand boy in the queens court & forms a light-hearted team rocket-esque duo with the plague doctor to take back pandora's box, stolen from the queen & brought to the monster hunters

marcus is an immediately curious character because he fits the high-energy genki archetype like a glove & has nothing but positivity for others- but his philosophy towards his own life & future are absolutely bleak. and the thing to pin about him is, he isnt really all that dumb- its more a mix of lack of worldly knowledge & this ascetic fold of catholicism where Bad Things Happen To Me Because I Somehow Deserve Them so he has LITTLE self-preservation & accepts misfortune without a fight

alexander holds the same self-poisoning principles, but marcus is the only one naive enough to say the quiet parts out loud. its not something the man ever pushed upon his sons but rather something they adopted themselves after seeing it from their role model. congrats to them for inheriting all their fathers positive traits AND his negative traits theyre both adopted btw

if there is a musical episode the plague doctor is the one who goes WOAH WAIT WHATS GOING ON every day she wakes up & tries SO HARD to understand whats happening around her. shes definitely struggling to keep her miserable life together but despite that her kindness & good humor tend to shine through, most of the others actually quite enjoy her company the problem is shes always like "IM BETRAYING YOU GUYS FIRST CHANCE I GET"

but yeah as mentioned she makes for a good duo with marcus, hes great at fighting & she actually understands human society so together they make One Functional Person when venturing out of monster society lol. curiously for someone who doesnt want to be there, the plague doctor chose to assist in the chase for pandora's box of her own free will

something i find really interesting about floweys characterization is his hatred of finality and how thats a foil to charas “you think you are above consequences.” those two are obvious foils just in general BUT i think this is such an interesting part of their relationship,, i think it also lends to floweys belief that theyre the only one that could ever make him feel whole again,,, just a quick warning i Will talk about death and grief and and maybe unreality here As Always so just watch out and feel free to scroll past :):)

so much of undertale follows people running from the truth and consequences, most prominently with the dreemurrs and alphys. its essential for everyone to face their feelings to get a happy ending, especially asriel who Sure Does Love To Run From His Problems. he can never go back to when chara was alive, but he also cant just let go of them. he doesnt know how to cope with their death and his complicated feelings towards his family. he feels responsible for charas death, he feels responsible for what happened to his parents, and he feels responsible for how hopeless the underground feels. he feels responsible for Literally Everything, despite him just being a kid who cant possibly be in control of everything.

and thats whats so interesting about the way hes written!! its extremely real to how experiencing that kind of traumatic event feels. you want to be in control of everything so nothing can go wrong again, and if something Does go wrong, at least you’re expecting it, so you cant be too surprised or hurt by it. him having control over resets and feeling as if others arent real reads so much to me as “traumatized guy cant deal with the idea of anything bad happening ever again and its weird to him to deal with the fact that life goes on despite everything he experienced.” i know plenty of people say he started to kill out of boredom because thats what flowey says but i honestly dont think thats it at all!! hes a liar he LOVES to not be upfront about his feelings

the first resets were him trying to make everyone feel better. he needs to placate everyone as both his duty to his kingdom and to make sure nothing goes horribly wrong. but its never enough, as he can never take back charas death and he cant free everyone. no matter what he does hes stuck in this cycle of thinking nothing matters because charas dead anyway. the fact that theyre gone puts them on a pedestal and fills flowey with so many regrets, like wondering what else he could have learned about them or what he could have done differently to keep them from dying. flowey does Not want to deal with or accept their death and he cant just. be content with everyone simply living their lives around him

i think his first kill was likely him finally losing his temper with everything being the same (would Not be surprised if it was toriel) and wanting to see someone feel the way he feels, or even the way chara felt. hes free to put everyone through the pain he experienced and get away with it. its interesting that he views himself as a monster for this and wants the player to see themself this way as well, yet he doesnt want anyone other than the player to know about what he did... i think this also kind of feeds into his issues with finality. the resets are his way of coping and knowing that hes in control. he gets to choose who lives and when things will end, and eventually repeat. the player and chara take that control away from him. charas death is pretty much the only constant he has that he cant change. the player also does this by. u know. taking over the ability to reset

it shows him that hes not and cant always be in control even if thats what brings him comfort. thats probably part of the reason hes constantly following frisk; he needs to make sure he knows whats going on. he always gets So mad when he has No Idea whats happening and thats definitely a control thing,, its extremely important that hes shown positive things can happen without his intervention.... he needs to have hope that things can get better, which isnt really something he had before frisk. they offer a comforting finality rather than one that scares him... which makes his death in the no mercy route very interesting as well!!

he spends the route pretending as if everything is fine now that chara is back and everything will simply go back to normal. it doesnt matter if they kill everyone cuz hey, at least charas back!! this whole time he was so scared he made the wrong decision and that hes the reason charas dead, but theyre back now so he can try to fix everything. this only changes when he realizes that no, not everything can just be swept under the rug. chara clearly felt strongly about consequences. they wanted to get revenge on humanity and free monsters, so much so that they would die for it. they wont let you get away with killing everyone, and they also wont let their own brother get away with it either, especially when he considers chara the same as him. he can only cling on to the one thing that remains true to him, his friendship with chara before they both died.

he tries to placate them, as hes grown used to doing with everyone else, by bringing up their past friendship. theyre best friends! they could never kill their best friend! he doesnt want to die, specifically because of the finality of that situation. he has to say goodbye to chara again. he has to say goodbye to everything again, but this time at the hands of who he had put on a pedestal. it really reminds me of when he tells frisk to kill him over and over, only to be shown kindness and forgiveness... he was fully expecting to be killed by this random human child and it was. extremely upsetting to have them go against what he thought would happen. its the same with being killed by chara. he never thought that after all this time apart that they would really turn on him

my favorite thing about the pacifist route is that he finally gets to come to terms with what happened. he gets to grow!! he finally gets to free everyone and overcome his regrets. he can forgive himself!!! he acknowledges that he doesnt want to let go and that hes alone and afraid but its okay to say goodbye. he can finally let go of that terrible hopeless feeling and understand that things can get better, despite how much hes changed and what hes lost. but i like that hes not just magically better, too. it takes so much time to really start feeling at least a little better, and the pacifist route was just the start!! the alarm clock dialogue shows that he still feels the need to watch over toriel and make sure everythings okay.

however!! hes also still friends with papyrus!! he doesnt feel the need to completely isolate himself and hes kind of growing from the ideology that no one is real and can never be any more than what he already thinks he knows,, its very nice to see him recover :) i really love that in the content where hes interacting with people other than the player hes basically just. the exasperated voice of reason. he thinks everyones an idiot, but its also probably very endearing to him. i know a lot of people portray him as Angry Little Chaos Guy but he only really acts like that when he feels. strongly. about things. when hes Going Through Something. otherwise, it seems like hes mostly just kind of the serious guy who will mess with his friends cuz he thinks its funny.

i always think about that segment right before the special thanks. EXTREMELY in character for him of course he would prank you right at the end. he loves messing with people. even before he died, he seemed to like playing harmless little pranks on chara like making them smile for no reason. oh, but if they mess with him like refusing to do their scary face again, then suddenly its unfair. see what i mean he and papyrus are like the same guy its hilarious. i constantly think about how chara was probably similar to sans just because of how similar papyrus and flowey are BUT thats a post for another day

anyway,, i wouldnt be surprised if when asriel was still alive he still felt some kind of. disconnect from people. ive always had this hc that he was extremely lonely and had a hard time connecting with anyone because of his prince status. whether thats because his status scared them away or because he viewed people less as what they are and more of people he needs to help... and i wouldnt be surprised if he also felt that way about chara.. he probably did want to help them feel better cuz they were obviously troubled and it led to him being quiet about his true feelings about the plan,, i think hes also extremely scared of being rejected.. he doesnt want toriel to know about his crimes cuz he doesnt want her to hate him and he forces frisk to stay with him during the fight cuz hes probably convinced they wouldnt want to be friends with him anyway so why not just Make them be friends with him.... in his own weird little way

ok i didnt mean for this post to be so long but!!! i just think!! flowey is so well written. he has so many issues not regretting his every action and he doesnt want to deal with the outcome of anything cuz in his mind it could probably Always Be Better,,, his trauma is written so well and i love him toby i will forever be thankful for flowey

either way, I remember she said once to mickey that she named their kid after her father and hes like "didnt the bastard fucking sold you as a sex slave for like 300 dollars" (which I think is really nice cause that means she shared with him that information voluntarily) to which she responded something like "yes but still he had some good in him". later she says to kev that she supported her father and all that cause she owned him for taking care of her until she was like idk nine years old and could take care of herself and i remember seeing someone here saying it is probably because in russia is really common for the father to abandon his children so the fact he stuck around means a lot to her.

it all makes me believe that the image of a father is of importance for svetlana. doesn't that means that she would want mickey to be involved in their childrens life then? i mean he was for a while as she forced him to until his boyfriend kidnapped her children and babys father went to jail and then she held back and i understand it i totally do but now that they have all growned up and gallavich is a somewhat resonable couple with somewhat legal jobs and somewhat living an honest life wouldn't she want them in her and more specifically her childrens life again?

noel once said in an interview for s5 that he believes that in some ways Svetlana is perfect for Mickey cause shes strong where hes not and she complements him, and i believe that too. at the beginning every time shes onscreen she looks scared as shit truly frightened but as the episodes go on and they interact more it seems like she can perceive how small and frightened mickey is under all that bad boy facade and she grows upon him and then they get in a fighting-friendly-respect-disrespect relation in which they recognize each other somehow, and than that went sideways after the whole yev kidnap. mickey probably thought he was wrong thinking he could ever play family, that he could ever be any different and be something other than a fucked up in the kids life, that hes not up to being a parent and that theyre better off without him and make them go away; he chooses to take care of ian instead of his family by s5 end when he said svetlana could leave if she wasn't accepting ian coming back to their house after kidnap episode.

fact is svetlana and mickey found themselves in challenging situations simultaneously. svet was an undocumented immigrant who resorted to prostitution as her only means of survival, while mickey grappled with complex issues involving his love life, sexuality, and the pressure to conform to his fathers expectations, leading a life he didnt desire. despite these difficulties they shared the experience of becoming parents at a young age which significantly altered the course of their lives and their relationship. they were both the source of pain and the potential for each other's salvation. their relationship was fraught with difficulties as mickey treated svet poorly, refusing to acknowledge her as his wife despite her longing for the american dream through marriage and family, which she quite fought for at the beginning when she seemed to hope he would eventually love her (she was gentle and submissive and played perfect little wife). instead, he agreed to fulfill a fatherly role, and they supported each other superficially, lacking a deeper connection. for mickey, lana was an instrument to appease his father while simultaneously being a painful remark of everything he wasnt and didnt want to be, all while introducing complications into his relationship with Ian.

even with all the differences they faced, they had a lot in common, as they both were young and trying to survive, living lifes they didnt choose, the whole respect for their piece of shit fathers that they shared, the fact theyre both queer, how they dont trust others and try not to rely on no one and solve things with their hands and they both have bad manners and dirty mouths and take aggressive approaches to solve their problems and are always scheming and find hard to change their nature. they have a lot in common and they got to find that out while living together and fighting each other, trying with effort to shape one another so they would comply to play the role and accommodate to the life each was expecting to build. svetlana made mickey take off the nazi posters he had as is stated in s3 finale and would threaten and blackmail him into doing what she wanted during s4, and he would do his best to fight her by trying to scare her with threats and make her submissive holding her in an inferior place by diminishing her and calling her names in s4 until they grow to a somewhat peaceful relation in s5 even including ian.

them as a throuple happy family worked for a while and i mean i doubt she has anyone even as close as a colleage in her life right now she doesnt trust easily and v and kev are out of scene and she is married to that rich guy etc. so having a friendly relation with mick again seems like doable? desirable even maybe for her? at that time by s5 they were both dealing with illegal jobs and svet was raising her kid barely by herself and mick was using A LOT of drugs like pills and drinking and cocaine and crack i think and still they made it work for a while so only imagine what they could do now that theyre both at their best.

also, she is married to that rich dude but its a fact that hes not going to live longer and i know my girl is smart svet did her thing secured that bag stole and gained and got what she could but the plot said that the marriage was under the regime of separation of property meaning she isnt going to get any goods after her hushbands death and probably is not going to have contact with her husbands family cause theyre not close so not only she will have freedom but she will be lonely right. until she finds her a wife at least.

I know the importance of family isnt for the milkovichs what it is for the gallaghers and that yev came as result of an abuse relation, but mick didnt seem to take that on the child once he was born and he was taking care of him, he didnt seem to resent him or hate him or see terry and be hurt by it. i mean he does process trauma in such unexpected unexplained ways that i cant really vision how he trully feels about yev, other than how he rejected fatherhood in s4 and his comments with ian in s11 about not believing he can be a good parent, but s5 in the police station theres a lot of "hes a good kid" from the officer and mickey holding and kissing yev only to take care of ian as debbie hold yev on the passager seat in the way home that was made on purpose and i perceive it as he likes yev but hes afraid to break him. idk if there could ever be the same feeling that lip has with fred, of wanting to be a better father for him than he ever had. thats probably not micks thing. but i can see him at some point wanting to know about yev, and who he became, what is he like, and bonding with him, even more so cause hes not bad with kids they would hit it right away. probably a more friendly bond than father son tho. as for ian, there is that deleted scene of him visioning him mick svet and yev as a happy family and even thought he was maniac i think that came from the heart hes good with kids and he wants a family with mick and he lived a nice life with svetlana and he said to fiona he loves yev.

there is the fact that svetlana probably never talk about mick and never went to see him anymore onscreen cause mick might probably not be babys dad but i like to think yev really is a milkovich just because they reproduce like fucking rabbits and i think thats really funny. also the beggining of s6 makes it clear he had done jobs from inside jail before so that he could get commissary money and svet could raise yev with her share, so s6e1 states they somewhat worked together which leads to suppose svetlana and mickey hold a friendly relationship even after they fight cause ian kidnapped yev and mick kind of kicked her out their house, AND since she asks ian to accompany her in the visit shes ok with him too it seems. ALSO not only i think is reasonable to assume they kept in contact for a while when he was inside and only got some distance as she was building her life with her relationship with kev and v and the allibi and he started getting involved in dangerous stuff with the mexicans (since in theory she visited him with divorce papers), i truly believe they only cut off contact completely when he told her he was leaving for mexico cause i mean he told terry i truly believe he told her too.

like i know a lot of people want galladads but i just see it as unresonable they came out of jail theyre traumatized and never done therapy ian fucking stole a baby and that baby was under micks supervision they fucking suck thats the true!! and i would kind like to see them taking responsibility for yev and bonding somewhat. just imagine what kind of parenting that kid would have hes probably unhinged since his parents are freaks. also i think that the more your parents control a kid the more they want to be a rebel (karen-like) and since he was raised by horrible people he is probably the opposite, really calm and mature for his age etc kind of like liam. hes also probably smart since he had a good education and speaks a lot of languages like svet, and aggressive but not fist like? i can vision it, mick telling him about what he was up to when he had yevs age and them playing videogames and mick like spitting on the floor or idk trying to teach him how to fillet a fish and yev totally disgusted by it cause hes a rich little motherfucker and then yev enthusiastically trying to explain the last robotic ethics article he read and is really excited about and making science fiction comparisons so that mick can understand it. Tom felt like he was going to start crying and never stop. He can’t keep watching Chris and Ron. He can’t do it. He feels like he is going to throw up. He can’t he can’t he can’t he-

The screen door bangs closed causing him to jump. “Tommy?” Chris is suddenly next to him. He’s got that dumb cat wrapped up in a sweater. Tom sniffs. Didn’t even realize he had actually started crying. “Hey Chris. I can go. Sorry. I’ll head to New York. See mom for a while.”

Chris stares at him. He stands back up. Oh. Tom blinks as the tears roll down his face. Tom hears the door slam again. He’s alone. He knew it. It’s fine. Ron is happy. That’s what matters most.

Suddenly there’s arms around him. He jolts but quickly realizes it’s Chris. Chris is crying along with him. Fuck. He made Chris cry. “Hey? Bab- Chris are you okay?”

Chris only holds on tighter. “Why are you leaving us? Why now?” He hiccups into a sob. Tom whips his head around to look at Chris. He looks wreaked. “I? We- uh- god Chris. I don’t want to leave.”

“So don’t leave us then yeah Tommy?”

Tom’s head jerks around to see Ron standing behind them silently crying.

Fuck.

“Well you two? And I’m here. Feels like I’m forcing it. And I just don’t want to hurt you two. It’s great to try but we can’t. You can’t do that to yourselves.”

Chris bites him as hard as he can. Tom instinctively smacks Chris’s leg before gasping. “Ow! What the fuck Chris?” Chris smacks his leg back and hugs him even tighter. “For being fucking stupid. When have I ever done something because someone forced me to.”

Tom opens his mouth but is cut off quickly by Ron. “Never. And I’ve never stopped loving you Tommy. I still see that 14 year old kid that I fell in love with. You’re ours. Just accept it yeah?” Tom shakes. Not in fear but in shock. Ron sits on the steps next to him. He’s suddenly wrapped in both of their arms. Oh god he was stupid.

“You two care about me? In the way that you care about each other.” Chris laughs. It’s not an actual laugh. More of the is that even a question laugh. Chris grabs Tom’s face and makes him look in his eyes. “I love you. I love Ron. I love both of you. Nothing is going to change that. You’re mine as long as you want to be Tom.”

The tears are back. Tom feels Ron press his face into his shoulder. “I love you both. Can’t live without either of you. Love you Tommy. And I love Chris. I need both of you.”

Tom opens his mouth and shuts it again. He can’t believe he got so lucky. “I love you too. Both of you. Course I’ll be yours Chris. I can’t live without you either Ron.” They’re all crying now. It can’t be helped.

Too much emotion in too short of a time. Top gun was only two weeks ago. Only two weeks since Chris grabbed him and kissed him. Told him he wanted them both. Tom couldn’t believe his luck, he assumed it was for only that first few nights. But as it kept going it kept feeling more real.

Clearly Tom is a bit of an idiot because it is real. They love him. He loves them. Nothing is going to change that. God his mom and sister are going to be happy for them.

That night Tom is in the middle of the bed. Chris is almost fully on top of him, Ron is curled so tightly around him that he couldn’t leave even if he wanted to. Tom doesn’t think he’s ever going to want to leave again though.

randall and hopkirk deceased as an extended metaphor for reactions to severe trauma

i think theres a lot to be said about martys death as like. a metaphor or symbolic of severe trauma. its a life altering event that fundamentally alters everyone involved. marty obviously. because hes dead. but what if we think about it in a less literal, more abstract way? i dont know. there are a few experiences for the characters in this show which regardless of how they were intended, resonate a lot. for the sake of argument im avoiding referring to the event as 'martys death' in order to generalise the experiences and make them less specific. martys death for the sake of this post is an event. any event. that changes the lives of the people it touches both subtly and tangibly

its a traumatic event which means that marty can no longer relate to or interact with other people . hes isolated and ostracised and numbed, literally. he's derealised and dissociated, hes out-of-body. the traumatic event has left him unable to engage physically with anyone or anything around him. the only physically 'real' thing to marty is himself - which we can see when he says to bugsy "you're solid!": he doesnt recognise them as both being incorporeal. to marty, it's the rest of the world that doesn't exist anymore, and him and bugsy (someone with shared trauma) are all that's left. he is Such an isolated character, as a direct result of the traumatic event. it's left him with the ability to detect 'bad vibes' (hypervigilance). and it's not something that can be reversed - now that it's happened, that's it, but even tho he is often unhappy and hypervigilant and anxious and wishes he could go back to how he was before, he still does find moments to be silly and have fun, and eventually also to find excitement and empowerment in his new state of being. because hes still a person, even if most people dont treat him as such. his trauma means that other people no longer recognise him as a person, and that's not their fault. the living arent deliberately ostracising marty: it's his trauma which has distinctly separated him from everyone else. it's left him silent and invisible and almost completely alienated. no matter how much he yells to people to warn that they're going to be murdered, or yells for help, nobody is paying attention to him.

for jeff, his best friend is dead. yea. but jeff stops grieving this loss. in a very parallel way to marty being frozen in time and unable to continue his life, jeff is also trapped.when jeff comes home after the funeral, we see the beginnings of his journey with grief, and its a grieving process that has been interrupted; a healing process gone wrong. now he can't move on; marty is a constant reminder to him. its no wonder jeff gets angry with marty, occasionally wants marty to leave. and while jeff might feel trapped by marty, and marty feel hurt by jeff not recognising how tragic death was for marty, neither of them are to blame. its a terrible situation - and the evil isnt in either of them or their reactions to it. marty might have trouble with boundaries and jeff might occasionally be callous. but theyre just two traumatised people. the evil is that marty was killed at all.

jeff knows that things can't ever be the same; he has the dual struggle of mourning the loss of a normal life and a normal friendship, and accepting the fact that this is normality for them now. marty is who he is, the traumatic event happened and can't be undone, and marty is still here and suffering and so so deserving of compassion. sometimes when marty is silly jeff smiles a little bit and he loves him so much and he remembers that he does; because a lot of the time, the struggle in the aftermath of that traumatic event makes him too wrung out and stressed and tired to remember that that's his best friend, his best friend is right there and needs jeff as much as jeff needs him, if not more so

jeff ALSO now can't relate normally to the people around him. in the second ever episode jeannie, one of his best friends, tricks him into a hold in a psychiatric clinic, based on nothing but a few instances of jeff behaving a little strangely, right after having been bereaved. jeff has to act normal at all times under difficult or even impossible circumstances; he has to maintain the illusion of normality even more than marty does, even while marty is yelling directly into his ear. while marty might perform and mimic a 'living' existence (sitting on furniture, which we know he doesnt need to do; speaking to people he knows cant hear him; not allowing jeff to touch him so that they can both maintain the fantasy of normality after trauma) but for Jeff the illusion is crucial to his safety

jeannie is the one we might think is ironically spared some of this, even though she and marty were married. shes not involved in marty's continued existence post-trauma in the same way jeff and marty are. they deliberately keep it from her to preserve her wellbeing and, in jeff's case at least, to ensure that her ability to move on with her life isn’t curtailed the way Jeffs and Martys have been. and jeannie is trying; but it's not the case - not yet. caught up in his own life, and marty caught up in his death, jeff sometimes forgets that jeannie lost her husband, recently. him saying "i thought you got over marty ages ago" when it's been less than a year seems like an absolutely deranged thing to say to a widow when you hear it out of context. but it has to be a moment for jeff to remember: he and marty have sacrificed the healing of the grieving process in favour of what they have now, in favour of continuing their friendship and being there for each other. but jeannie hasnt. jeannie is still going through it in all of its agony. jeannie is consistently vulnerable when it comes to marty; over and over again she is manipulated by people who take advantage of her grief. and it's easy to say well she's being silly or naive, but thats because the audience follow the show primarily through jeff and marty's eyes, not jeannies. The only person Jeannie could talk to about marty seems so altered by his grief that she doesnt feel she can even bring Marty up in conversation

we also see that jeannie has been isolated from other people because of the traumatic event. Jenny comes down to see her shortly afterwards; but crucially when we see jeannie among her friends of whom we see, she has many! She is alone in a crowd, just as Jeff and Marty are. At parties she is on her own. She’s in the corner, changed by her experience of finding her husband dead just outside their house. The people around her are amiable and friendly but they don’t understand. They don’t approach her; and they don’t listen when she expresses reluctance at being asked to join in an activity she finds deeply uncomfortable.

All three characters love each other so much; and as a direct result of the traumatic event, they still sometimes harm each other inadvertently. Jeff harms Jeannie by forgetting that she is still grieving; perhaps he even harms her by keeping huge secrets from her even if he does so under oath and the best of intentions. Jeff harms Marty by not telling him ahead of time that Jeannie is an alibi when they’re in bed together; he harms him by being insensitive to Marty’s limitations; he harms him by dismissing his fears and anxieties out of hand; he harms him by rejecting him and telling him to leave. Marty harms Jeff and Jeannie both, tragically, by his inability to let them go. He harms Jeff by neglecting to observe Jeff’s boundaries appropriately. He harms Jeannie, albeit without her knowledge, in his jealous urge to keep her from moving on and finding someone else, even if he doesn’t act on it. He does Jeannie a disservice occasionally by underestimating her, and so does Jeff. Jeannie harms Jeff by not trusting him, by tricking him and having him confined without ever speaking to him about her concerns. She harms Marty without meaning to when she half believes that sheldon is Marty, and by agreeing to help cecil exorcise Marty.

None of these things are deliberate; and I think all three characters can overcome this. They love each other enough. But they’re just people. They’re trying to navigate a life that has become strange to them.

i dont know. its 4am. i have many thoughts and this isnt nearly as clean or comprehensive as i would want it to be. Jeannie, Jeff and Marty are all traumatised and are muddling their way through the aftermath as best they can and they all need each other’s understanding and compassion.

Alright im going public with my bad opinion explanation: I hate the adoption scene because in order for it to make sense you have to ignore almost everything that the previous seasons were doing.

First, foundlings are not orphans, JON.

Foundlings are literally just children adopted by Mandalorian warriors. Something Din had made clear, he repeatedly calls Grogu a foundling and the only one who would have adopted him is Din himself. So they got that totally wrong, they do not understand how foundlings work or what they are.

Second, Din has not struggled to accept he is a father. He struggled to let himself refer to himself as a father because he has always been afraid of losing Grogu. Season 1 he isn't afraid of being his father but he doesn't let himself call Grogu his son or himself his father because hes scared he is going to lose Grogu because theyre always on the run from those hunting for Grogu.

Season 2 he is even more seeing himself as his father but he now is scared to call himself that beacuse he thinks hes losing Grogu forever to the Jedi.

Its never been Din has to learn to see himself as a father its been Din was too scared of losing Grogu so soon after calling himself as such. Season 3 he has NO reason to not already fully consider Grogu his own son.

So theres a direct comparison to tlou here. The end of the show/game, you have Joel fully cementing himself as Ellies father by going against all odds to save her life.

Episode 3 of season 1 is that story for Din. His first interaction was to murder the droid with him and hold out a gentle finger to this baby. He is a true Mandalorian. This child is alone and needs someone to protect him. He knows what this means he knows Grogu is his foundling when he does this. Foundlings for this covert are so important.

Episode 3 has Din struggle to accept handing him over and even as hes still doing so you see his regret. He goes back for Grogu and fights to the point where he is looking at a bundled barley awake Grogu thinking they both might die here. But he looks at him knowing it was worth it.

THAT to me is Din accepting fatherhood. That is Din willing to die for the baby he considers like his own.

Ahsoka literally tells him Grogu sees him as his father and Din doesn't ever refute or question her about such a title. Cara calls Grogu his kid and Mayfield instantly knows his kid is "the little green guy".

Its insane to me that season 3 literally starts with Bo calling Din "your dad" but for the REST OF THE SEASON we downgrade to words like ward or apprentice. Even in the goddamn adoption scene he still is called an apprentice. Season 3 just pretends Din doesn't accept he is already Grogus father when we had 2 seasons showing us that he did see Grogu as his son.

But fear of losing him made him to scared to voice such a thing outloud and by the time Grogu goes with Luke he regrets not saying it earlier.

Never in a million years do I believe season 1 and 2 Din would think he has to "adopt" Grogu formally to consider himself Grogus father. He always has. That was what made Din special in this genre.

He didn't spend the story growing to see himself as a father. He was as Grogus father from minute one and decided he unquestioningly was by episode 3. His story isnt accepting fatherhood its about overcoming the obstacles that would thus take his son from him and the fear of voicing it outloud because of it.

Season 3 pulls so much nonsense by showing Paz with what is clearly a newer foundling that he sees as his son. And then has the audacity to say that it took until the end of 3 seasons for Din to come to the same conclusion about his own foundling.

Dins always been Grogus father, he's always seen himself as such and thats what made their bond so special.

Also again, JON. Foundlings do not stop being foundlings. They are always a foundling because a foundling literally is a child adopted by Mandalorians. Jango didn't stop being a foundling because he was adopted by Jaster. No being adopted is what MADE him a foundling.

Like, just no understanding from Jon or Dave about why everyone but Din called them father and son. And no understanding of what Mandalorian foundling culture even fucking is. Formal adoption doesn't exist like that beacuse thats dumb. You take in a child, and you ARE their parent. Thats it.

It's not the biggest or most egregious fuck up of the season, but it makes me mad because now I have to pretend that THIS was the moment Din fully accepted fatherhood. Not when Grogu was cradled in his arms as they were surrounded about to die, but maybe it was okay because at least he did everything he could to save his child and they would be together.

So yeah. Thats why I hate the one scene everyone in the fandom apparently adores, whoops ✌

Ooh good point! I didn't see this in my ask box. Yes this is just another thing to add to the Fuckery of season 3. I did think it was incredibly odd for Din to have to publically adopt Grogu after he was already a foundling and Din was already OBVIOUSLY his caretaker and parent figure. They also totally ignored the traditional Mandalorian adoption ritual in Mando'a - the Gai bal manda.

Also the Armorer literally tells Din to his face he is "as Grogu's father" until he comes of age or is returned to the Jedi in TBOBF (the last time the Armorer was a character and not a Faux Katan plot device lackey RIP). So that ends the necessity yet again of that scene and proves it was only added to spoon feed the GA who didnt watch TBOBF.

But it goes to show in this season of alleged exploration of MANDO LORE AND CULTURE we yet again got absolutely nothing, confusion, doubling back, and bullshit plain and simple.

Of course I feel the first i should mention is Umataro Tenma. like I can't start this list off any other way, this man recreated his own son in the form of a robot and then abandoned him when his senses came to him ( but they left as soon as they showed bc man was back on his bullshit next day) like truly. ANYWAY shes for real batshit and shes one of those characters who you can be sympathetic towards, the tragedy of knowing how she got to be this way but god you deserve everything coming to you. There are many things she does as truly batshit but an often forgotten one is stealing the shoes of a man she just killed. And she's later shown putting them on, before continuing her killing spree and doing something that altered the trajectory of the story forever

she also has an operatic voice, which her singing alone is an omen for bad things to come
