D.P. (Season 2)
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
D.P. (Season 2, 2023, South Korea)
Director: Han Jun Hee
Writers: Kim Bo Tong & Han Jun Hee
Mini-review:
The moment has finally come: Netflix's best Korean Original has made its return with a second season. And these two years of waiting have been more than worth it. It seemed impossible but, somehow, this new season is even better than the first one. It preserves all of its many strengths, and then it takes them to the next level. Both the directing and the writing are amazingly intense. I spent six whole hours on the edge of my seat, biting my nails to the quick, and the last two episodes left me breathless. I also loved the show's attempts at experimenting, like the musicality in episode 3 or the horror undertones in episode 4. As for the acting, is there anything left to say? This is a cast full of incredible actors, and all of them give career-best performances. This time round, Jung Hae In and Son Suk Ku are probably the MVPs, but everyone does a flawless job. To sum up, this second season blew away my sky-high expectations, and I really hope we get a third one, cause TV shows don't get better than this.
P.S. There's a lot of triggering content here, so please be careful with that. Those of you who watched the first season already know this, but I'm saying it just in case.

Jungkook regrets saying that out loud because now you’re gonna think that he’s a creep, or definitely a weirdo. You’re staring at him completely caught off guard and he doesn’t blame you.
But before he can overthink and let his anxiety take over, because of how creeped out you must be at his remark, why did he even say that out loud it was unnecessary… you give him a small smile, and all of his nerves immediately calm down. The effect that you have on him… he’s so in love with you.
“U-Uh I’m so sorry how inappropriate of me… yeah, I remember not in the school, right.. Ms yn I’m so sorry.” Jungkook looks down in his lap, but all he sees is Jeon Seol staring back at his father, with a confused look in his Bambi eyes, even though there’s no no one left except for him, you and his son he still feels really bad because you must feel really uncomfortable.
“Well..” you clear your throat, “I don’t think there’s anything in particular that I need to tell you about the progress of his studies because he’s doing good in them but behavior wise,” your smile, fades a little and you’re all serious now, he notices every inch of your expression.
You look concerned.
“you don’t have to worry about Seol getting lost in the school the assistant teacher will take care of him because there is something that I need to discuss with you about him in private.”
Jungkook looks at you with confusion, because what possibly could you be telling him that you need Seol out of the room for?
“I-Is everything all right?” Jungkook stutters out, his nerves are back once again. You don’t say anything and that just scares me one more because what did his five year old do for you to be so serious? But jungkook has got your hint and he whispers something in his son’s ear before Seol runs off.
You sigh before saying, “Mr. jeon.. I’m a little concerned.”
“On Thursday, Seol punched a student because he said I loved him more than Seol.” You cross your arms across your chest. Your demeanor has completely shifted and you look so serious.
Damn, you look really hot- he’s so focused on you that he doesn’t even listen to what you’re saying that is until the word punched settles in his brain.
“what? W-What?” he’s so confused right now. Jungkook cannot believe that his five-year-old punched someone. “Uhh what?” Dumbfounded he asks you once again.
“Yes… the child was even bleeding…” you shake your head, “as his teacher, I feel like I failed him because he wasn’t an aggressive violent child..” Jungkook doesn’t like the way you get a little sad.
No, it’s not your fault.
“Mr Jeon.. he’s a little possessive… for a five-year-old I don’t think that’s healthy… I mean I love him with all my heart I love all my students, but.. it seems like he wants me to only love him.”
Jungkook wants to scoff. And what is so wrong with that? Yeah he shouldn’t have punched the kid, but the kid must’ve instigated him. But he decides to keep his expressions neutral.
“Is everything all right? you’re his parent and I think it’s my responsibility to let you know everything about him.” The way you speak is so tender, so professional and gentle, but he feels a little pissed off.
You have left a bitter taste in his mouth.
“A-Are you saying that you don’t love him? Or that he’s got a problem?” His could you- can’t you see you’re breaking jungkooks heart right now?
“If only he had a mother…” he sighs, sadly.
Jungkook nods, coughing so he can clear his throat, he doesn’t want to come off as mean, but.. he cannot help it anymore.
“I understand… I think that my son has misunderstood you.” He begins, as he gets closer to your face. “he has confused your role in his life, I’m so sorry for that, but the truth is that he sees you as his mother-rather than a teacher and..” he takes a breath, “you’re not his mother. You’re just his teacher.” He barely manages to resist Make sure that his tone is appropriate.
And you’re speechless.
He immediately sees a change in your expressions and your mouth is a little wide when you hear him say that. “ I’ll make sure that he understands that and he will never do it again I am so sorry.” Jungkook smiles, Before he leans back in the chair.
“I’ll even apologize to the boys parents.” Jungkook just wants to get away from you now, first his father and now you.
This is the worst day ever.
And tomorrow he has to meet his father. Someone kill him.
“can I go now? Also, please could you tell me the boys name?” He is not speaking to you with a smile. As you tell him the boys name and his parents names, he can tell that you’re almost about to cry, for some reason.
That’s how he feels right now too. Maybe you’re not what he thought you were. You will never understand him or his son.
“Well Ms L/N have a good day.” he chooses to address you with your last name as compared to your first… jungkook doesn’t know why he’s feeling so bitter right now, but he feels like you’ve crushed his heart.
He just made him feel like his son has a problem and that you don’t love him. He almost feels a sense of betrayal.
He can just sulk in the car so he gets up before bowing to you, as his son’s teacher, he has to show you some respect, and he picks up Seol’s bag that was on the floor before he ran off, and he’s out of the room.
What a heavy heart, and a heavy conscious.
It’s about time that jungkook lets his son know that you’re not his mother. You’ll never be. You’ll never understand them. Truth is that you’ll never want them and need them like they do.

just finished the weekend and oh my goodness kiki!! it was soo good. the dynamic between jungkook and seulgi's relationship, it's on the rocks but they'll do anything to make yul happy. and koo's relationship with yul....oh my god, to die for. he's so patient and caring and the line where he was like he knows he's so dependent on her.
and my yn :( she's so strong too, kinda gasped when she asked when koo is leaving seulgi...like I COULD NEVER. the part where koo showed her his collection of books got me thinking of beauty and the beast...but then when we read about seol and her line about "little boy's room" .. oh god..... i think i might have an idea but i can see why jungkook is so protecting and loving of yul, hoping she doesn't get out of his grasp.
and MY BABY YUL, she's soooo cute, kinda want to steal her plushies. yn and yul's relationship too is so cute, the part where she paints her nails!!
and the ending....i FEEL like jungkook cares a lot about yn, like we see it in the beginning when she tells him she got hurt, but knowing the consequences their relationship will cause. #he'sanadult
oh my goodness, hi my love iM CRYING LMAO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING AND SENDING IN YOUR THOUGHTS IT MEANS THE WORLD UGH!!!
and yeah when he said yul was like air to him, he meant it. like she is his reason, his second chance at life. and what happened with seol is definitely the reason why! don't get me wrong, he loves yul more than anything in the world, but she was definitely an attempt to regain something that could never be regained yk? for both him and seulgi. i think seulgi is able to put aside her hurt for their daughter, but jungkook is just... stuck. i tried to really emphasis that in the fic. like he's in his son's room, in a marriage that should've ended years ago, treats yul like a baby (she is a baby lol, well a toddler, but he v much so still treats her like a baby: ie the bottle comment, co-sleeping, etc.) and the inability to move on is detremental to everyone around him, including himself!
and like oc is like... everything he isn't, and that's why he's drawn to her. other than yul, she's the only light in his life. oc has like this naive innocence to her, something that was ripped away from him when he lost his son. and like that first time they really connected and she said she wanted to be a teacher reminded him of his wife before everything happened. BUT, it's a cycle like he was a victim to circumstance, and now he's destroying all her light :'(( not necessarily intentionally, but thats just the innate consequence yk?

yu jimin . she/her . cis woman . spotted at the met steps , yeonjin koo , most likely listening to fly girl by flo ft. missy elliot with their airpods pro . the twenty three year old gained quite a reputation , known to be -antagonistic yet +urbane to anyone who knows them . you'll easily spot them when you hear about spontaneous tropical vacations only ever known on social media weeks after plane has landed home , cherry - scented lip oil kissed on your skin as she steals away all of your attention , the gentle scuffing of pristine white sneakers on asphalt court , and ending the night with elaborate skincare routine and perfected glass skin glow , followed by marc jacobs daisy ever so fresh . latest nepoupdates talks about yeonjin allegedly being the product of her father's affair with his first love and her biological mother being bought off to avoid scandal , but i guess any reputation is good repuation .
full name : koo yeonjin . nickname(s) : none , unless someone comes up with one for her . origin : yeonjin [ korean origin / beautiful , overflowing ( yeon ) + precious , genuine ( jin ) ] , koo [ chinese origin / to allow , to permit , to promise , etc. ] . age : twenty three . date of birth : january 1 , 2000 . place of birth : seocho - dong , gangnam , south korea . gender : cis woman . pronouns : she / her . sexual orientation : bisexual biromantic . language(s) : korean , japanese , english and french ( in order of proficiency ) . occupation : socialite and influencer , former dancer .
⤿ 🌷 BACKGROUND .
if one were to take the time to explain the history of the koo family , it would take forever to get to the present . the koo family is one of those families where no one really knows their origin outside of members of the family , but almost everyone within the country knows of soonyang , a multi - profile business conglomerate based in the towering neighborhood of samseong - dong . with said family stems second youngest son koo byeonghoon , the eligible bachelor who found himself on the cover of various tabloid magazines in the mid to late eighties due to his handsome visual and obviously , the company that he could someday inherit . most assumed that he would remain a bachelor for the rest of his life , but it's a complete surprise when he announces his marriage to kim chaeyoung .
marrying kim chae - young was almost a no brainer for byeonghoon . he loved her , of course , but she also came as the youngest daughter of the family behind yoonseul , a luxury goods conglomerate . the union was a match made in heaven , and they married in a lavish ceremony . it doesn't take long for the couple to have their children— three daughters to be exact . their eldest is minji , and following her is their middle daughter seolhee . for five years after seol - hee's birth , she is the youngest daughter of the koo family , but the couple surprises everyone with their final daughter , yeonjin . the baby shocked their families with yeonjin's arrival , and questions soon arose as they never saw chaeyoung pregnant , but they were soon shut down by the couple announcing that they had used surrogacy to bring their youngest into the world .
growing up , yeonjin was the apple of her father's eye . he loved the little girl as much as he loved his eldest daughters , but for some reason , she was constantly given the cold shoulder by her mother and her sisters . she can recall days of not being able to play with her sisters or being shooed out of their bedrooms , often having the door slammed in her face . her closest friends within the house becomes the waitstaff who have been with her family for years . with her mother , yeonjin doesn't recall a time where her mother actually said that she loved her . at times , she can remember the wry smile that her mother would give her in a poor attempt at acknowledgement , but she never understood the cold shoulder she was given compared to her sisters .
if elementary aged yeonjin was heartbroken by the lack of care received by her mom and sisters , then high school aged yeonjin didn't have a care in the world . by the time she was sixteen , yeonjin was the only child left in the koo household as her sisters had moved out to start college . her relationship with her father remains positive , as he's the only one to show up at her dance recitals and sing her praise when she brings home stellar grades , but her relationship with her mother sours . now able to stand up for herself , there's constant arguments and disagreements between mother and daughter , some so volatile that she often begs her father to let her leave the home for nights at a time to stay at various hotels instead . she struggles with understanding why her mother seems to hold so much resentment toward her , but she never made an attempt to ask why— her mother never wanted to talk to her for longer than five minutes anyway .
years pass , and yeonjin graduates from high school with an acceptance to ewha womans university in her back pocket . a communications and media major , it's not a surprise that yeonjin knows her way around social media and how to market herself . now , she always had something of a following on social media , but she was able to grow said following once she began sharing more of her lavish lifestyle . at first , yeonjin thinks nothing of it until she's approached to appear in a music video for a popular idol group . yeonjin graduates from ewha with a newfound fame , suddenly finding herself attending seoul fashion week , and getting invited to some of the city's most exclusive events . eventually , she makes the solo move across the pond to new york , where she has been for the last year and a half .
for the time that she's been in new york , yeonjin has been something of a media darling as she is often talked about in the media for her fashion style as well as her lavish lifestyle , as she's been living at the baccarat hotel since she made her move .
⤿ 🌷 HEADCANONS .
yeonjin lives at the baccarat hotel simply because she couldn't imagine beind a homeowner at her age . she doesn't even want to rent . she doesn't have a single homemaker bone in her body , and the most she can do is make herself a pot of ramen , and that's on a good day .
she's got a bad case of mommy issues and would honestly prefer to not talk about her . the two have never seen eye to eye , and they most likely never will . her sisters are not close to her at all , often leaving yeonjin to feel as though she's on an island all by herself . she doesn't want to have a relationship with them , despite how much her grandparents would like for her to .
she is not a fashion girly in the slightest , but she is a known fixture within the industry . she can often be seen sitting front row at various fashion shows , and gets invited to many star - studded events . yeonjin has even appeared on a handful of magazine covers .
yeonjin is currently a global brand ambassador for bottega veneta , and can be seen promoting the brand or attending their luxury events . she is also an ambassador for chopard .
personality wise , yeonjin is a loyal friend who makes the conscious effort to be there for those that she cares about . she's charming and can easily spark up a conversation with anyone , but she doesn't take to being talked down to or belittled for no reason . she can stick up for herself and refuses to let anyone think they can walk all over her .
she has never been in a long - term relationship , but there has been one person in her life that she can't seem to shake ( 👀 a wc perhaps ? ) . she finds long - lasting relationships to be a waste of time , and she doesn't like the idea of being entirely vulnerable with someone to that extent . it would take someone a long time to fully penetrate the walls of concrete she's built around her heart , but it's not to say that they couldn't come crumbling down for the right person .

BUSINESS PROPOSAL // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı: 8,2
Benim puanım: 7
Drama: Business Proposal
Hangul: 사내맞선
Director: Park Sun-Ho
Writer: Hae Hwa (web novel), Han Sul-Hee, Hong Bo-Hee
Episodes: 12
Date: 2022
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Ahn Hyo-Seop, Kim Se-Jeong, Kim Min-Kyu, Seol In-A, Song Won-Seok
Jin Young-Seo (Seol In A) ise , Chaebol ailesinin kızıdır.
Kim Se-Jeong’i The uncanny counter dizisinden tanıyorum.

10 Kdramas I Recommend part 2
Hey~I’m back again with a part 2! I finish kdramas so slowly, so this took me a while to get to. Sorry if I ramble.
Here is part 1.
1. Life
Year of Release: July-September, 2018
Cast:
Lee Dongwook as Ye Jinwoo
Cho Seungwoo as Cha Seunghyo
Won Jina as Lee Noeul
Lee Kyuhyung as Ye Sunwoo
Yoo Jaemyung as Joo Kyungmoon
Synopsis: Ye Jinwoo is a doctor at Sangkook University. One night, the hospital director dies. Though his death is ruled as a heart attack, Jinwoo believes otherwise. Koo Seunghyo becomes the new director of the hospital, despite being a businessman. He sees the hospital as something to profit from, and decides to forcefully transfer three departments, including the emergency medical center, where Jinwoo works. Jinwoo and the other staff members protest this and start to scheme to have their new director removed.
Thoughts: I went into this for Lee Dongwook and Won Jina only, and only thought it sounded vaguely interesting. I’m not much for hospital dramas and politics, but this drama really ended up piquing my interest! Not only were the actors amazing, but it shaped up a really good story. It showed the bad and good characteristics of everyone, even the so called protagonist and antagonist. I did find it frustrating at times, but only to the point that I felt that I had to watch more to make sure everything got resolved right. From a writer’s standpoint, the ending of this was wonderfully crafted, though watchers might have found themselves deeply sighing.
Rating: 8/10
2. Healer
Year of Release: December, 2014-February, 2015
Cast:
Ji Changwook as Seo Junghoo
Park Minyoung as Chae Youngshin
Yoo Jitae as Kim Moonho
Synopsis: Kim Moonho is a famous reporter who enlists the service of a mysterious night errand boy, Healer, to find and protect Chae Youngshin, a junior reporter who he believes is connected to a decades old mystery surrounding five friends. The three become intricately connected as they navigate their shared past, the mysterious incident, and current day politics as people in positions of power try to cover that incident up for good.
Thoughts: I LOVED THIS DRAMA! I watched it in around three weeks (it’s a 20 episode drama), and loved every single minute of it. It was the fastest I have ever watched a kdrama. I thought about starting it many times, but always pushed it off because the summary never sounded interesting. Yet after watching a trailer and deciding to see how it was for Ji Changwook, I was instantly tossed head over heels. This drama is thrilling. Secret identities, reporters, mysteries, romance (!!! y’all there’s this one cute scene that really makes me squeal), trauma, pain, and everything in between. You will seriously not regret watching this.
Rating: 10/10!
3. Come and Hug Me
Year of Release: May-July, 2018
Cast:
Jang Kiyong as Chae Dojin/Yoon Namoo
Jin Kijoo as Han Jaeyi/Gil Nakwon
Heo Junho as Yoon Heejae
Kim Kyungnam as Yoon Hyunmoo
Yoon Jonghoon as Gil Moowon
Synopsis: Namoo and Nakwon were each other’s first love in high school, until Namoo’s psychopathic father, Yoon Heejae, murdered Nakwon’s parents. Twelve years later, the two meet again--with Namoo as a police detective who goes by Chae Dojin, and Nakwon taking after her late mother as an actress by the name of Han Jaeyi. She suffers from severe PTSD. Together, the two of them navigate their rough past and try to move forward and heal, even as the past threatens to return to their present.
Thoughts: I can’t begin to stress how much I like this drama. It is a drama with a darker theme, but I really liked how they focused on Nakwon’s PTSD and a) how people reacted to the rumors of her mental trauma, b) how they didn’t end up pushing that it made her weak, but rather showed how she grew through it. Every single actor in this was fantastic, especially the child actors! I was really glad to be introduced to Jang Kiyong and Jin Kijoo! They looked so great together :). If you’re a fan of healing dramas with a touch of serial killer, you should definitely check this one out. It checks all the romance boxes, but also all the fun, crime filled ones too.
Rating: 9/10
4. Descendants of the Sun
Year of Release: February-April, 2016
Cast:
Song Joonki as Yoo Shijin
Song Hyeko as Kang Moyeon
Jin Goo as Seo Daeyoung
Kim Jiwon as Yoon Myeongjoo
Synopsis: Shijin is a captain of the special forces, and Moyeon is a doctor. They meet at the hospital, and decide to date. Unfortunately, it does not work out, as they realize that Shijin as someone who takes lives and Moyeon as someone who tries to save them are not a good pair. The two part ways, but it seems like fate is looking out for them, because eight months later they meet again when Moyeon is assigned to go to Uruk with a medical team, where Shijin is stationed.
Thoughts: DOTS is a drama classic, and a must watch. I went into watching it expecting to to be very different than it was, but I was not disappointed in the slightest bit. It delves into a lot of topics on morality and making decisions in the midst of a life and death situation. The Song-Song couple’s chemistry was off the charts (and they got married in real life, too!), plus the second lead couple was awesome too! Each character brought something unique to the show. DOTS made my heart leap and feel all sorts of things--especially when Onew (he played a doctor) was crying his eyes out, like dude, I wanted to bawl. This is a classic you cannot pass up.
Rating: 10/10
5. Romance is a Bonus Book
Year of Release: January-March, 2019
Cast:
Lee Jongsuk as Cha Eunho
Lee Nayoung as Kang Dani
Jung Eugene as Song Haerin
Wi Hajoon as Ji Seojun
Synopsis: Cha Eunho is a popular writer and editor who works at a popular publishing company. He is close friends with Kang Dani. With a twist of fate, Dani--who used to be a popular copywriter but has recently fallen upon hard times--manages to get a job at Eunho’s publishing company by lying on her resume.
Thoughts: Any drama with Lee Jongsuk is going to be good (well...most dramas), and this drama was the perfect mix of funny, romance, and a dash of mystery. Dani’s character was very relatable. She’s awkward, kind, old timey, and genuine. I loved getting introduced to Wi Hajoon as an actor through this drama. He and Jung Eugene were great second leads/supporting actors. The rest of the cast are each very unique in their own way, and lots of kudos to the writers for showing us little slices of how they live and their own problems without making the storyline messy.
Rating: 8/10
6. My Strange Hero
Year of Release: December, 2018-February, 2019
Cast:
Yoo Seungho as Kang Boksu
Jo Boah as Son Soojung
Kwak Dongyeon as Oh Seho
Synopsis: When Kang Boksu was in high school, he was falsely accused of school violence by his friend (Oh Seho) and his girlfriend (Son Soojeong). Years later, as an adult, Boksu has the opportunity to return to school and graduate. He takes up the offer with the idea of getting revenge, as Soojeong has just become a teacher there, and Seho is the new director as he battles to take control of the school from his mother, the chairman. However, things don’t go as Boksu plans, and he soons find himself tangled up in a major school corruption.
Thoughts: Okay!!!! I usually get tired of hearing the same old corruption spiel since apparently kdramas love to point out the problems with Korea’s school systems (while nothing changes), and while Chairman Oh definitely made me want to slap her straight across her dumb face, it wasn’t enough to make me completely stop watching. First off, I love all three main actors (or I did as soon as I saw them in here). Yoo Seungho is always enjoyable to watch, and Boksu and Soojeong were sweet and fluffy and balanced each other out perfectly in the relationship. I also fell for Oh Seho! I know a lot of people found him a terrible person...and yeah, he was definitely a prime example of like an anti-villain, but he also had a great redemption arc and I just...wanted to give him the hugest hug.
Rating: 8.5/10
7. Cheese in the Trap
Year of Release: January-March, 2016
Cast:
Park Haejin as Yoo Jung
Kim Goeun as Hong Seol
Seo Kangjoon as Baek Inho
Synopsis: Hong Seol is a hard working college student and Yoo Jung is her good looking, smart, and rich sunbae. Over the course of college, Seol and Jung eventually start a delicate relationship despite other obstacles in their path. However, a friend from Jung’s path, Inho, returns and also starts to fall for Seol.
Thoughts: This drama...I actually only watched it for Seo Kangjoon and he’s the only reason I finished it. This has the biggest second lead syndrome you will ever find. Personally, he’s the only reason this is making it to my recommendation list (that and the fact that I’m horrible at finishing dramas). On the other hand...let’s just say that I hated Park Haejin for so long because I could not get over how much I disliked his character in this drama. It was an interesting character, but I couldn’t stand how manipulative he was. CITT is based on a webtoon, so maybe that’s why it’s so crazy, but it took me so long to finish this. It took me a year because I stopped watching it so many times. This show seriously drove me crazy. There are only a couple things that get me genuinely riled up when I have to talk about them, and this show is one of those things. I don’t know, some people really liked it, but while there were good characters and some nice parts, in the long run it was just really not that good.
Rating: 6/10
8. Bad Guys
Year of Release: October-December, 2014
Cast:
Kim Sangjoong as Oh Gutak
Ma Dongseok as Park Woongcheol
Park Haejin as Lee Jungmoon
Jo Donghyuk as Jung Taesoo
Gang Yewon as Yoo Miyoung
Synopsis: In order to combat the rise in violent crimes, the Police Detective tasks Detective Oh Gutak with putting together a group of criminals to take care of the problem. Gutak, who is currently suspended for excessive violence, puts together a team consisting of gangster Park Woongcheol, hitman Jung Taesoo, serial killer Lee Jungmoon, and Police Inspector Yoo Miyoung. Together, the team tackle the rising crime rate and dangerous criminals.
Thoughts: This show was only 11 episodes, maybe why I was able to watch it so fast. It’s violent and dark--the perfect fit for the crime/mystery genre. I also like to call this Park Haejin’s redemption drama, because after this you know who I liked x.x. There were also a lot of plot twists that made me need to watch the next episode immediately. There’s a sequel to the show with a new cast but the same premise, but I’ll warn you that that show has definitely more violence and blood and death and stuff (I’m still watching it; I’m kind of stalled out right now since a certain episode made me lose faith in that entire show, ahem episode 8).
Rating: 8/10
9. Kill It
Year of Release: March-April, 2019
Cast:
Jang Kiyong as Kim Soohyun
Nana as Do Hyeonjin
Roh Jeongeui as Kang Seulgi
Kim Jaewon as Philip
Synopsis: Kim Soohyun is an elite assassin who is searching for clues to the past he cannot remember. Do Hyeonjin is the adopted daughter of an important congressman who is a new Police Detective. She is still searching for the killer of her boyfriend, even though nine years have passed. Soohyun and Hyeonjin start to cross paths, finding a connection from their past that leads to a growing relationship.
Thoughts: Sounds like every au ever, right? Jokes, it’s my favorite au of all time and I freaked out when I found out Jang Kiyong was going to the lead. It sounds cliche, but I swear it’s very good. I love the fact that there’s not really a romantic relationship between the two, like it’s not supposed to be romantic, but rather focuses on the platonic, friendship between them. It’s a dark, twisting drama, another one showing how deep corruption runs in the government (that’s always a theme because you know, it’s a thing), and the ending freaking killed me but you know :((.
Rating: 9.5/10
10. He Is Psychometric
Year of Release: March-April, 2019
Cast:
Park Jinyoung as Lee Ahn
Shin Yeeun as Yoon Jaein
Kim Kwon as Kang Seongmo
Kim Dasom as Eun Jisoo
Synopsis: Lee Ahn has a special ability, psychometry. When he makes skin to skin contact with someone, he sees their darkest memories and secrets. He dreams of becoming the first Police Psychometrist. Yoon Jaein has been running her whole life, ever since her father was charged with the arson of Yeonsung Apartments, where Ahn’s parents died. The two first meet in high school, but their connection is cut short, only for them to reunite two years later and start to solve the mystery behind the fire and the other crimes that connect to it, along with Ahn’s non-biological brother, Prosecutor Kang Seungmo, and Police Detective Eun Jisoo.
Thoughts: OKAY, let me take a deep breath before I get into this one. He Is Psychometric is one of the best dramas I have ever watched. It’s right up there on my top five, I reckon. I didn’t drop this or anything; I watched it from the moment it started airing to the time it didn’t. Fair warning that if you expected happiness, this is not the drama to go for. It’s so twisty and has so many turns, like everytime something was uncovered there was still more threads to follow and it was insane but amazing. Especially for me, being a huge psychology fan, I loved digging into these characters and how unique they each were. The relationships, bromance and romance alike, were so intricate in this drama. I went through a million feelings and emotions in the span of a minute. This drama is also one that you can’t see coming. You can theorize (and believe me, I theorized the heck out of that thing) and guess, but it manages to blindside you almost every time. This show will break your heart and how you think of the world and humans and for that, you have to at least give it a try.

Drama review: Mother
Finally got myself together to write a review for this! Because this is a pretty obscure drama in itself, there is quite little active public opinion about it during its run. This was however the only drama on my radar for these few months. I love how it encompasses so many life lessons while only focusing on a few main characters (mainly female, no surprises since the title gave it away!).
There is no hiding that Mother is an adaption from the Japanese drama by the same name. The original version aired in 2010 which followed a Turkish adaptation and now the Korean adaptation.
I have actually watched the Japanese original, and I must say the Koreans did justice to it. Both storylines follow a similar progression but there were significant differences, so it doesn’t bore those who have watched the original. I’ll try to mention the differences as we go alone (as well as review the Korean version too… this will be one long post I foresee)
To start, I am absolutely in love with Lee Bo Young! I just love that she picks projects that are not just about the pretty, but rather, projects that have the potential to impact the bigger world of drama watching. I just came from watching I Can Hear Your Voice and boy this role is so different!
Soo Jin was a functional adult but she had so much of suppressed emotions; the way she was abused by her mother’s boyfriend, then abandoned by her biological mother, tied to a fence with a bicycle lock, and a bun for the day, the image is still too visual.
On top of that, her decision to kidnap Hye Na just threw her off balance and suddenly she is forced into facing her past again while trying to survive in the present. Lee Bo Young depicted this all too well. Her actions were more morally acceptable than lawfully “right”? Then again, is the law always correct? Does it protect the vulnerable? What do I even believe in now?
Soo Jin was also Lee Bo Young’s first motherly role after becoming a mother herself! It’s almost as if you could see how she would be towards her daughter at home. How cute is it that her real daughter actually wants to meet her “unnie” since she had heard Heo Yool call her mother “omma”. (Maybe it’s time for another child Ji Sung!)
We now move on to our little heroine! Even though the adult cast was decided way before filming started (for the longest time, Lee Bo Young was our only name to this drama), the biggest mystery was who would play the child. Whoever played the abused child had very big shoes to fill since the original child actress who played the role in the Japanese version was so amazing.
Ashida Mana is the cutest little button and she played Reina/ Tsugumi almost flawlessly at the age of 5. Apparently the Japanese director meant to cast an older kid but casted Mana instead and rewrote his story… now that tells you how much talent she had.
Anyway, I was initially worried they would play down this role since even the initial promotional videos do not show the child every much at all! However, a few episodes in, I am convinced that Heo Yool was definitely the best kid for the job (well, she did get chosen from hundreds of kids, so I wonder why we worried… Haha!).
It is very very VERY hard to believe that this is Heo Yool’s first acting attempt ever. I mean I know she took classes but her talent is out of this world! I’m always excited when she comes on scene because her acting style is so unpredictably good. The last few episodes where she becomes psychologically unstable were so well done and realistic. Despite these difficult scenes, she seems like a bundle of joy in the bts clips! I only have praises for this little one and I can’t wait to see her future projects.
Onto our actual mothers, Lee Hye Young, who plays Soo Jin’s adoptive mother (Young Shin), and Nam Gi Ae, who plays Soo Jin’s biological mother (Nam Hong Hee). Both actresses offered such delicate performances. I really loved the scene where Young Shin receives the childhood items of Soo Jin. She never had a part in Soo Jin’s early childhood so those photos and items filled that void before she passed on. It was a beautiful moment between both mothers.
I also loved that mother Nam protected her daughter using her own quiet ways. She knows she had hurt Soo Jin badly and I liked the subtle little progresses they made to mend that relationship. In the Japanese version, it is the biological mother who dies of cancer instead of the adoptive mother. So that relationship progressed differently with some sense of empathy instead.
One character I have absolutely no empathy for though is Shin Ja Young. In all fairness, Ko Sung Hee worked adequately with what she was given. The main issue I have is i’m not quite sure why Ja Young hated Hye Na so much. I know she is a fun-deprived single mum and we want to say that giving birth to a child doesn’t always make you a mother, but this is really quite drastic. I am quite shocked at how self-centred Ja Young was (anyone would love a random kid in the playground more that how Ja Young loves her own child). Part of me wanted to believe she loved Hye Na even if it’s just a little.
Just for interest, the Japanese version handled Hitomi’s (Reina’s mother’s) past in a different way. This one scene I will always remember is when Hitomi carried Reina to a bridge, and wanted to jump and end their lives as she could not protect Reina from her abusive boyfriend. She did not do it in the end but that struggle on the bridge and that meltdown… that one scene redeemed it for me.
Korea did chose to redeem a different character though, that is Seol Ak played by Son Seok Koo.
His past was so so sad and unfortunate and although you hate him for threatening Yoon Bok’s happiness, you will pity how all this guy wants is his mother’s love. His past made his current mindsets believable even though they are very extreme and cruel. Also just a special mention, the kid that played Seol Ak was just as amazing.
Just like Heo Yool, this is also Son Seok Koo’s first TV drama. His portrayal was so creepily good. I was actually very scared for Soo Jin and Yoon Bok and almost wanted the police to find them instead. Maybe the director is just too good with newcomers.
The Japanese version never really focused on their male characters, but what is a Korean drama without a love line? Lee Jae Yoon plays Dr Jin Young who is the best doctor around! I was actually on my edge thinking he may just betray the girls eventually, but he was a pure nice guy.
I’m okay with Soo Jin and Doctor Nice remaining as friends since “kissing happily ever after” doesn’t fit this drama theme. I just love how Soo Jin and Yoon Bok have a guardian angel they can trust upon.
To conclude, I really love both versions of Mother. For the record, the Japanese version did end differently from the Korean one. Nao (Japanese’s Soo Jin) gives Reina a long letter (somewhat like how Soo Jin wrote Hye Na one before she got caught by the police); she then parts with Reina after sending her back to the orphanage and they only meet again when Reina turns 20. We don’t get to see their faces, but we do know they met in a restaurant. It’s definitely a more bittersweet ending than the Korean one.
Well, as you can tell, there is so much I have to say! But if I do this post will never end.. haha! So most importantly, I definitely recommend Mother! I have so much respect for the original writers for coming up with such a bold concept and for the Korean writers who offered such an impressive spinoff. I may even watch both a second or third time. Do watch the Japanese original too if you haven’t!

😞💔
mommy issues!JK
you were right, eunwoo did know and he kept pushing for you to be with him—to be with a murderer. how can you trust anyone anymore? how will you trust them again? well, that’s none of your concern anymore because you’re going to move on.
you take your packed bag and exit the bedroom without another word to jungkook. since seol is asleep on the couch, leaving the apartment was pretty easy but leaving your friends and the life you managed to build from the ground up was the hardest. maybe you can do it again. will you find love elsewhere or should you face what you’ve been running from your whole life?
you’re unsure but for now, your next stop is ilsan.
“hello?”
“hey, the deal is off”
“what? why?
“she’s leaving. packed her bags and everything. he must’ve told her i was here”
“are you serious? it was that easy?”
“yep. he’s all yours”
“wow. if i had known it would be this easy i would’ve called you sooner. nice doing business with you ji-cheol”
“you too nara”
you’re quickly throwing your belongings in the backseat of your car that you don’t notice that all the tires are slashed. you get inside and start the car but when it doesn’t move, you get out to discover the damage dealt to your car.
“hi butterfly. been so long since we’ve seen each other”
fuck….no no no.
you quickly grab your bags and make a beeline to the streets of the complex but ji-cheol easily catches up to you. he wraps his arms around you before pressing a cloth to your mouth.
“shhh” he says. “don’t fight it”
you put up a good fight but you end up giving in to the chloroform and the last thing you hear is “your mother will be so happy to see you”
meanwhile…
*knock* *knock*
“oh koo bear~ guess who’s back. answer the door baby! we have so much to catch up on”
“Y-Yn!!! YN Please don’t go please please don’t go. I cannot live without you. I love you so much. I really cannot. I’m sorry, but please don’t leave me! YN PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME!” Jungkook calls out your name, but you don’t respond and you walk out of his life just like that.
Jungkook watches hopelessly as you leave him behind, hot tears well up in his eyes, but you don’t care-
You don’t even look back as you opened the door to leave, you don’t spare a glare at jeon Seol. Jungkook watches you leave with quivering lips.
You leave, you leave him here forever.
He cannot help but breakdown on the living room floor, crying quietly as he watches his son is still sleeping. Jungkook has never felt this alone in his life.
It was so easy for you to leave- he will never love anybody again.
Jungkook doesn’t know what to do so he just sits there on the floor, crying his eyes out-praying to God that maybe you just might come back and hug him and tell him that what he did was wrong, but you forgive him and you need him, but you don’t no matter how much he keeps staring at the door.
He needs You so bad.
He wants to follow you to the ground floor, and he gets up, wiping his tears away. He has to make sure that you stay with him because your crazy ex is in town and you’re in danger and frankly he cannot live without you.
Jungkook grabs his coat and starts to approach his door so he can follow you but then the door bell rings and his heart skips a beat
“Y-YN!!!?!! Jungkook is so busy deluding himself into thinking that you’re back that he doesn’t even hear the voice that’s calling out from the other side of the door that is until he opens it frantically
“Y-YN!” he calls your name, as he his wipes his bloodshot eyes preparing to look at your face once again as he opens the door, but that whole delusion just shatters brutally when he sees Nara standing right in front of him.
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE? OH MY GOD, WHY ARE YOU IN MY LIFE? SHUT UP. GO AWAY BEFORE I MAKE YOU.”
oh oh.
He tries to walk past her so he can follow you, but she blocks his view. And before jungkook can push her away, she starts to push him back into his house.
“WHAT THE FUCK!!?”

“no no no! this is your house. i can sleep on the couch, jungkook. it’s no big deal, really” you shrug as you bring the empty bowls of ramen to jungkook’s kitchen so they can be washed. “how about you sleep with seol? i’ll just be here. it’s okay” before jungkook can protest, you’re already scrubbing the bowls and wine glasses clean before putting them on the rack to dry.
however, jungkook is still encouraging you to sleep in his bed but stubbornly, you refuse. truthfully, you feel slightly uncomfortable sleeping in someone’s bed that you aren’t together with.
you don’t tell jungkook this, instead, you tell him that you don’t mind taking the couch. the blanket it already there, all you need to do is lay down and you’ll be just fine. you appreciate his courtesy but to keep things, well, not-so awkward, you decide to take the couch whether jungkook likes it or not.
“goodnight, okay?” you say as you get under the fuzzy blanket. “i’ll be here when you wake up”
just as jungkook is about to wish you a goodnight, his phone begins ringing:
that bitch.
nara has sent over 20+ text messages to jungkook’s phone. some checking up on him, some speaking to him, some wondering what he’s doing, and some are explicit pictures of herself:
i know you miss this
i miss you
come see me
what are you doing right now?
jungkoooooook~
koo bear 🥹
is your son ok?
thinking about you
thinking about us
i really wish you’d answer your damn phone. you know i hate it when you ignore me 😒
~🫧
What. The. Fuck.
He should’ve just put his phone on DND, now you’re staring at him because as he looks at the screen of his phone at the train of texts that Nara is bombarding him with.
His eyes widen as the pictures load and he almost screams. “O-Oh yn it’s just stupid psychotic Nara… goodnight my sweet… I hope you’ll be comfortable..” he puts his phone back into his pocket before he blows you a kiss.
That stupid bitch sent him explicit nudes of herself. He’s so uncomfortable right now.
As you blush when he blows you a kiss- he forgets all about Nara and her texts. Truth is he doesn’t want to leave you.
But you have to sleep and he’s just so happy that you’re staying in his home. “Yn it’s not too hot for you right? I’ve turned the AC temperature up just in case.” He smiles, handing you the ac remote.
Reluctantly, Jungkook goes back to seol’s room after staring at you for a second.
His phone is still going off but jungkook puts it on DND. Jungkook soon cuddles up next to his son, one day it’ll be you, him and Seol.. and maybe a few children of your own too..
The thought of that makes him blush.
Just like that, he drifts off to a deep slumber, fantasizing about your future together
•••
It’s the next morning and his alarm goes off. Jungkook whines and Seol starts to move in his sleep.
“Shhh baby keep sleeping, daddy has to get up for work.” He kisses him on the forehead and he smiles when he notices that his fever is not there anymore.
Since he’s going to be home for the next five days, due to his suspension, Jungkook is already a little stressed about how he’s going to juggle between work and Home.
Seol is soon back to sleep and Jungkook gets out of the room to see the couch empty and a delicious smell of coffee and vanilla essence coming from his kitchen.
“Y-Yn hi!!!! oh my God, I thought it was a dream last night but you are really here…” there you are in all your glory as you prepare yourself a coffee.

nara just smirks. even with jungkook’s hands wrapped around her throat and her airways tightening up, she still smiles because it’s only the beginning. she won’t stop until jungkook gives in, even at the cost of his own sanity and possibly hers. what does she have to lose if she tries? she’s a princess, an heiress.
everything will be fine and he’ll be all hers once again.
when jungkook lets nara go, she drops to her knees and begins gasping for air but suddenly, she erupts into a fit of laughter. “delusional? hahahahaha, you think I’M delusional?! what about you?! because of your delusion, your poor son has grown up thinking his mother is his teacher but poor seol’s mom is dead, right? oh, koo bear~”
“we’re alike you and i. delusional, desperate, and crazy in love. i’ll see you tomorrow and kiss my son goodnight will you?” smirks nara as chaste’s out of jungkook’s apartment and hopefully out of his life forever.
just as nara gets into her maybach she spots you getting out of your sedan and heading into the building she left.
from xxx-xxx-xxxx
if they kiss again that bitch is next
“d-daddy?” sniffles seol. “c-can i get out of m-my room now? ‘wanna s-sleep with you-you, p-p-please?”
~🫧
Jungkook drops to his knees, feeling so defeated because she’s involved his son into this game of hers.
Everything is ruined once again.. but before he can start to cry, he hears his son’s weak, trembling voice and that’s enough to make him stand up and walk over to his five year old.
And his heart breaks when he sees the toddler in front of him, “b-baby…” he chokes out, trying to compose himself, but it’s hard to when he sees seol’s big eyes filled with tears and his nose flushed, dried tear stains… and his wobbling lip.
Jungkooks eyes fill up with tears, he feels like he’s being suffocated right now, his whole world comes crashing down, it’s hard for him to look at his son like this.
“Oh-Oh Seol come here.” Jungkook walks over to his son and Seol immediately hugs his daddy‘s legs.
It feels like Someone just ripped his heart out.
“what’s wrong Bubba?” Jungkook crouches down to his level, embracing the little guy in a hug, but his son doesn’t say anything, “okay baby let’s eat and then we can sleep together, right? You will always have your daddy. I love you so much… more than anything in this world.” Jungkook showers his face in kisses.
In this moment, he feels so alone… they both just have each other… no one else…
“Come on and maybe daddy will give you some ice cream as well, okay? Don’t ever cry like that it hurts daddy….” Jungkook hugs him again.
“that woman isn’t your mom… okay? She’s a very bad woman.”

why? why? why?
why is all of this happening to you? would you label the relationship you and chaeyoung have as manipulative? are you even being manipulated? chaeyoung has always looked out for you and despite her harsh truths, you’ve summed it up to chae caring about your wellbeing because of your past.
your traumatic, abusive past that only a select few know about but she was the first. she gets you, understands you, has been there for you, and lended her shoulder multiple times when you’ve cried. sure, chaeyoung isn’t perfect but that’s your friend and when jungkook brings up that he threatened to harm your friend, you get a little defensive and worried.
your eyes widen at jungkook’s honesty but you remain quiet. especially when he brings up nara. if you heard correctly, chaeyoung was going to tell that crazy woman everything that’s happened between the two of you which definitely isn’t good.
you begin to wonder if chaeyoung is close with nara because if she did take matters into her own hands, how would she relay the message?
when jungkook leaves, you’re left exhausted.
jungkook, chaeyoung, nara. jungkook, chaeyoung, nara. jungkook, chaeyoung, nara.
those three names form a triangle around you and there’s no escape, you can’t get away. it’s always one thing after another when it comes to them and you’re getting overwhelmed.
as the day comes to an end and your last kid leaves, you make sure everything is done and organized before leaving the school building. however, you don’t head straight home. instead, you drive to the skating rink with hopes that some ice skating will help clear your mind.
you buy a ticket, a pair of ice skates, and head to the rink.
*knock* *knock*
“HI KOO BEAR!!! i missed youuu~” nara gasps. “is that your son? he looks just like you” nara pushes past jungkook to inspect his apartment because according to an unknown source…
“so where is she? where’s the bitch? i know she’s here. oops, sorry what’s your name? don’t repeat that wouldn’t want you copying after your mama”
~🫧
Jungkooks headache worsens, Everything with you, it feels overwhelming, it’s not you who is the problem.. but the people surrounding you and him.
Eunwoo tells him to be relaxed, and Jungkook knows he has to be calm, collected and patient most of all. And then after a few hours now, he is now finally back at home with his son.
“HI KOO BEAR I MISSED YOUUU~”
But his sanctuary does not feel like it because there’s somebody here… and that’s none other than Nara.
She is not screaming, but it feels like it. Jungkook closes his eyes. No no no. It’s a very familiar voice.
That bitch.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE AND HOW DID YOU EVEN ENTER MY HOME?” Jungkook grabs jeon seol’s hand tightly. “excuse me?!”
“Daddy who is this?” Oh no, Jungkook focuses his attention on his son instead
“Oh baby- THIS IS NOT YOUR MOMMY.” Jungkook covers seol’s ears, glaring at Nara. “ first of all stop cursing in front of my son and you’re not his mom.” He scoffs.
“my girlfriend is not a bitch.” Why does she even think that you’re here? Didn’t she figure out the truth about your relationship dynamic?
“What are you talking about? Don’t call her a bitch. Did you forget to take your pills?” He smirks.
“Seol baby- why don’t you go in daddys room? or your playroom? Daddy has a little guest.. okay?” He kisses seol’s hand and the toddler runs off.
“you are not his mother, and you will never be.”
Because That’s gonna be you
“what the fuck are you doing here.. ma’am?”
