What's your opinion of Carver as a villain? Where would you rank him among the other villains of TWDG?

I feel like Carver was pretty good villain. Especially at parts where he talks to Clem about the cabin gang, we don't know much about their past and before we meet Carver, we just have to assume that they're good people. But Carver points something out we don't actually know these people, we have no idea who they are or what they've done. Im not trying to say Carver is good, he just tries to make himself seem that way. And sometimes it works. Him and Clem aren't all that different, but there is one major respect that makes them two completely different people, and that's the fact that clementine believes in others. Carver doesn't, and I think thats what makes him different. He's an unknown, unlike Lilly, we don't have history with him, unlike the stranger, he doesnt have someone to use against us, unlike every other villain in the series, his intentions are clear from the start, there's no mystery on whether he's gonna be a problem or not. We know he's bad from the start, but once we meet him, he doesnt seem nearly as bad as he was made out to be. But bit by bit, he seems worse than we originally thought. I think he might be favorite villain in the series next to Lilly and the delta.

I'm so sorry about the gooey brain! I hope you can rest up and... uh... re-gelatinize? anyway, thank you for the ask lol! I've never really thought about my characters' Halloween costumes before, you're making me think here!

First off, Jasper LOVES Halloween and Kyle loves Jasper, so they'd absolutely do a couple's costume. But not a usual couple's costume... we're talking like... Rocky and Janet from Rocky Horror. Or Rocky and Frank N' Furter, depending on what gender Jasper's feeling more like when Halloween rolls around.

Ophelia wouldn't have a standard costume for Halloween day (or if she did, it would just be something simple to wear for when the trick-or-treaters come by), but you can bet that when she gets to hero work for the night she's wearing a Spidey-suit instead of her usual long coat. Just to fuck with Peter since she knows it annoys him.

I can't decide which would be funnier for Madison (both what she'd think is funnier or what would be funnier overall): she dresses up as a lookalike of one of the other X-Men, maybe Sean, and follows them around for the day like that episode of The Office; or she has Angel and Raven give her a hyperfemme makeover with all the things she'd never wear for herself usually, just to see how the guys would react.

Quinn wouldn't be big on Halloween costumes as a whole (it's hard enough to make them look like someone else, and they're not really worth the discomfort anyway), but they'd buy one of those rubber horror masks and would spend all day strategically spooking the other Ghosts around the headquarters. And would maybe put on a little face paint if they go out for drinks after.

Kestrel... doesn't need a costume, and that's the beauty of it. Their costume would be to shapeshift into one of their friends/loved ones wearing a cheap costume, and see how long it takes someone to notice.

Rae either goes all-out or completely forgets about Halloween until after it's over, and there's no in-between. Either she spends weeks crafting the perfect costume and putting together a Halloween party, or she's so caught up with work (or in another country) that she doesn't even realize it's caught up to her.

And Katherine's my only OC (currently) that has a canon Halloween costume! One of the earlier chapters of Who Waits Forever Anyway? involves a Halloween party at the Natural History Museum (so the museum peeps can socialize without arousing suspicion), and Katherine dresses up as the Egyptian goddess Bastet.

I managed to stay on task for something and did dragons finally! Hopefully y’all won’t have to wait ages for the next dragon profiles lol, I’m sorry for being inconsistent all the time.

So, here I have two dragons that are both the same species but look different because of dominant/recessive genes in their respective parent dragons. Quill’s parental night fury had the more dominant genes so she’s more night fury looking while Illia is more dominantly razorwhip looking.

Additional facts about these dragons cuz I might as well do their profiles while I’m on the subject of them:

Quill: Quill is Emma Bessho’s companion dragon in my HTTYD/YGO AU, she is a NightWhip dragon. Her prominent fire type is plasma due to her more dominant night fury genes. She’s usually a kindhearted dragon but is fiercely protective of those she cares about. She’s also been known to fight Gunner (haven’t profiled him yet, I’ll work on it hehe. For context, he’s Blood Shephard’s Razorwhip and is basically Quill’s adopted sibling due to Emma and Kengo being close siblings)

Illia: Illia is Bruno’s dragon (and the reason why I decided to draw the bruno in my last post lol). She is also a NightWhip but with more dominant Razorwhip genes. She’s very friendly and largely docile, she tries to avoid confrontation but is capable of protecting herself or others if she is pushed. Her primary fire type is the kind that a Razorwhip has and she is capable of firing off spines from her tail like a Razorwhip can.

Yeah, basically my inspiration for these two dragons was: playing with the concept of dominant and recessive genes when it’s two different dragon types being mixed and also I wanted Illia to look more robotic while Quill looks more organic because it felt like it fit the characters whose dragons they are. Also, Illia’s name is Illia partly because I was thinking of twilight princess when I thought of her and partly because Bruno was a part of Illiaster.

They tend to switch the jobs around via days or weeks, both spilt the bills evenly but Stanley is a bit better at fixing things and at doing handiwork, he does this more often but Kyle will help in any way he can out if he's feeling exhausted. Kyle handles the public better, he knows how to please people and unintentionally catch the attention and keep them happy though Stan will interfere if they get pushy with Kyle (cause being Proteus and still having magic even after being free is doing to cause problems) since he's too polite to say no.

Their dates they also tend to switch, they regulated from watching a movie from home or at the theater, they do choose where to go and what to do Kyle can encourage Stanley to try out more extroverted activities like going to a dance (not a fancy one) or roller/ice skating, Stanley prefers more quiet things like hanging out on the rooftop or field as he explains constellations and pointing to them Kyle happily listening to him, they do find common ground and agree on going to a cafe or hiking and camping together or just cuddling and sleeping together under a tree.

They start dating some months after Kyle is separated from the lamp(same with Kyle lives au) cause mainly Kyle tries to get used to everything changes and his entire situation of becoming a god, it's overwhelming and scary even if he doesn't show it, Stanley is with him the entire time supporting and encouraging and they were both mutually pining on one another and it was awkward cause neither wants to be pushy especially Stanley who doesn't want to ruin anything, cause Kyle's been through a lot, he deserves to be happy but in the end it's so sweet cause both confessed at the same time and they wouldn't have it any other way(both date long enough until they decide to propose and engage later on, I say some years after the mains arcs are done).

They don't feel the need to take a break from one another considering it's been years since they were finally reunited and they missed one another so much, (Kyle hasn't had basic physical human contact for years and the last time he did it didn't end well) but if they ever need space in order to recharge on occasion they will tell one another (Kyle may be the more physically affectionate between the two) but other will show their affection non-verbally like sticky notes of cute silly doodles or texts of encouragement, buying their favorite drink or snack. Just the little things that make the other swoon and all flustery in the inside and giddy and-

new dad Bakugou who’s going back to work full time almost a full year after his daughter his born and he now has to grapple with the fact that….goddamn, he’s spoiled the shit outta her.

well, he doesn’t think it was spoiling her. in actuality, he just created a routine with her, gave her every bit of his attention, held her when she cried, scolded her (yes just at eight months) whenever she’d babble for more puffs even though she’s had enough already. it wasn’t spoiling, it wasn’t. he vowed to never be that dad, to raise a snot nosed brat, one similar to himself.

but here he is, on a Tuesday morning three weeks after her first birthday. he’s standing halfway between the front door and the living room in full uniform, with his still sleepy baby and her even sleepier mama. she’s gripping his neck like he promised to abandon her, wailing and crying so loud and dramatically, that you can’t help but chuckle at her antics and how he wavers ever so slightly.

“You promised you’d go back to work,” you scold him gently, rubbing at your daughters quivering back when she whines again the moment he acts like he’s gonna pull her off. Bakugou frowns at you, and you shrug, smoothing her unruly blond curls away from her sticky forehead.

“But you guys need me.” He pouts, eyebrows downturned as he pulls her away enough to wipe at her wet face. she blubbers again, whimpering out a small dadaaaa noooo, that absolutely breaks his heart.

“And so does the world.” You smile at him, gently pulling your daughter away from the matching glassy red eyes who watch her go. “We’ll be fine, my love. Promise.”

Bakugou looks unconvinced, especially since your daughter reaches for him with another cry of his name. you don’t say anything when he sniffles discreetly, quickly reaching down to the coffee table to snatch up his utility belt that he dropped when she waddled out of her room in tears. he snaps it on wordlessly, and you go to turn to the kitchen when he wraps you both up in his arms.

“Love you,” he whispers against your forehead before pecking it, leaning down to kiss your lips next, and then your daughter’s fat little cheeks. He whispers another love you to her, and wipes away at her rosy cheeks when she pouts at him.

“Rub you.” your daughter pouts, the both of you freezing in shock.

“Oh my god,” you whisper, grinning. “She said I love you back!” Bakugou matches your grin, laughing under his breath as he presses another torrent of kisses all of her face. for the first time since she’s opened her eyes today, she laughs, loud and joyous and familiar. he thinks that maybe going back in today won’t be so bad after all. not if this is what he’ll be coming home to.

Thinking about Disco Elysium and stars. Something about communal experience and simultaneous isolation, hope and idealism, fear and beauty and terror and burning. The inherent horror in the vast romantic starscape of the sky, the melancholy and loneliness inherent in the untold distance, a communal experience of something too enormous to fathom. Stars bear witness to humanity, to the millions of tiny people crawling on the face of Elysium. They watch the people, and the people watch back, and make up stories about the stars. Stars symbolise love, hope, something unreachable and unattainable.

The way that the light of the stars reaches every single being in Elysium, from human to phasmid, but no matter how far it reaches it is still a cold and distant glow, always on the verge of going out. A moral brilliance, a holy light to strive towards, something always at risk of burning out, but there's a dichotomy too. A duality between the stars as brutal unfeeling observers, moralists even, like the aerostatics flying overhead, tiny dying lights that watch impassively over every terrible thing in the world, and the flipside; stars as the burning kernels of hope, furious burning flames that parallel Harry and his golden-orange forest fire nature. Stars as the light of communism, the star-and-antlers. They're hope and dreams- a million years in the stars. Rockstars and superstars. The light of a brighter future (however short-term that future might be) coming towards them at the end of the tunnel. It makes me think of Sacred and Terrible Air and the light pollution in Vassa- ending light pollution as the world ends. "You may laugh at this, but in the evening, when the big world in the distance swells into a bloody maelstrom, families come out into the street in Vaasa and are insignificant together. Only distant explosions disturb the deep peace of the winter night, its flawless starry sky. Everyone watches, heads tilted back." The stars are a shared experience. Something that everyone watches, insignificant together, when there's nothing more that can be done. Light in the face of darkness, community in the face of inevitability. Togetherness. The stars are there in the church with the ravers. They're there watching Harry and Kim together. Insignificant together. In dark times, should the stars also go out?
