If there's no thrift shops near you, I highly recommend Mercari, Depop, and Poshmark for secondhand, brand-name clothes. I don't usually shop for brands specifically, but some of the names I own and have heard of that might help you search are Killstar, Disturbia, Lip Service, Tripp, Midnight Hour, Foxblood, Blackwood Castle, Dracula Clothing, Phaze Clothing, Punkrave, Dark in Love, etc.

Of course many of these have their own active sites that you can buy from, but I'm a big fan of secondhand shopping over buying fast fashion outright!

Also, I wanna plug some of my local small businesses & friends that carry apparel you might be interested in:

99% of my basics wardrobe comes from thrift stores or places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc. I found that a lot of my clothes from thrift stores come from H&M and Uniqlo, which you can buy online or through the apps I mentioned. I pretty much only wear plain black clothes in textures I like and then I layer the hell out of it with cardigans, jackets, jewelry, and belts!

In terms of jewelry, I don't have a lot (UNFORTUNATELY...) but I much prefer buying jewelry, belts, and other accessories and layering them over otherwise "boring" all-black outfits. I like Etah Love, Regal Rose, Tommy Vowles, Remains Jewelry, Raspberry Mazohyst, and secondhand Killstar and Punkrave. Some of my favorite pieces (like rosaries and vintage) come from antique stores, Ebay, and Facebook Marketplace. I also make my own necklaces from chain you can buy at Home Depot (you can probably buy chain on places like Amazon too). A plain black T shirt or band shirt paired with some rings or a chunky necklace is my go-to for everyday wear!

Speaking of, band shirts are pretty much the best thing ever. Bandcamp and Instagram are great resources for this and it's a win-win-win. In buying a shirt you support the artist, discover new music, AND you get to look cool hahaha

For shoes (my favorite and imo the most important element), I like Poison MX, New Rock, Gothic Shoe Company (defunct), Goth Pikes (defunct), Demonia, TUK, Fluevog, Underground, and secondhand H&M and Forever 21.

Last thing on clothes is that DIY is, besides buying merch from smaller bands, the best way to own pieces that are unique to you and your style. There's loads of tutorials out there, I like making patches with cheap paint and sewing them onto whatever, adding spikes/chains, and cutting up shirts and jeans to change the fit and make them more interesting visually. The possibilities are endless. In high school when I couldn't afford band shirts, I'd just make my own!

There's LOADS of threads on Reddit as well with links to clothing stores, I also like to see what pages my favorite jewelry/clothing shops follow on Instagram to see what else is out there!

I hope some of this helps you out, I went to a small town college myself and it's rough trying to figure out your style when there's nothing around in person to get inspired.

⭐️⭐️⭐️SOO we’ve talked about fever in a shockwave already but I’m here to ask you to ramble about anything you want for those fics, especially if it’s something no one has pointed out yet. Pretty please?⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have a lot of Thoughts about this series!! I don't even know where to begin, actually 😅

I invested a lot of time in shaping the narrative, and leaving behind breadcrumbs of their relationship and the eventual fallout.

Part one was mainly about establishing the baseline for everything else. I wanted to pick up a year-ish after the ending of series two when Bear made all those promises to Lena, and lost everything. If this was from his perspective, we'd get a lot more detail about what happened, but I wanted to show the events through MC's perspective since we already know what happened.

It also connects quite heavily in the second part when everything that was alluded to (four walls, a roof; her father; cheating, etc) came to light.

They're two broken people but in very different stages of healing, and neither can really help the other in the position they're in. MC realises this at the end of part two when she comes out and finds that nothing has changed. Despite them "getting together," Bear still drinks.

The ending is actually quite heavily foreshadowed in the series! These narrative threads knot everything together, and are used to convey different aspects of what's happening and the inevitable fallout.

The first one is Bear using MC as a crutch to come. The biggest aspect of this is:

It feels like the culmination of everything. The little touches, fleeting glances. All of it leads to this moment where he presses his mouth to your skin like he's been starved for it, and drinks you down like ambrosia found in the glass that once littered the countertop around him. 

MC is an unwitting substitute for Bear's struggle to cope with what happened to him. He never tries to get better. Throughout the entirety of part one and two, we see him pushing people away (Buddha, Caulder, the priest). MC picks up on this, and we see her adjust the way she speaks to Bear.

Sometimes, you say something stupid, like shouldn't you be training or something instead of giving yourself cirrhosis? and you can see him shut down. Retreat. His shoulders unfurl, spine straightened, and his eyes harden. A veil of moondust white plumes between you, dislodged when the crater forms. 

A visit later, two. Then, when you pluck up the courage to talk to him again, he eases into it with slurred words, and a little drunk grin twisting on his lips at the dumb (safe) things you say. 

She does this as it bleeds into the second part of the narrative throughline: self-sabotage.

Both of them are struggling with grief, but in different ways. Bear is using her as a coping mechanism, and she's using his refusal to get better as one, too. After all, there is no potential for hurt in something that will never last, and we see this idea of a broken relationship come up with allusions to her past (cheating father who always made promises he couldn't keep; absent mother always looking for love, but never finding it; and drowning/chlorine).

The biggest indicator of this, and something that heavily foreshadows the ending, is:

(Maybe, it's the reek of loneliness that wafts off of him. The same scent you wake up to, clinging to your pillow. The one that gnarls behind your ribs like a mouldering infestation. 

Maybe, it's because out of all the men who wander in, he's the only one who looks like he's already too far gone, and you've always liked the taste of crushing disappointment.)

But the most blatant one is this:

So, you grab a few bottles from under the shelf, and wonder if this is what it feels like to slip into that poetic madness writers talk about sometimes. 

(Or maybe you're just Pavlov's dog.) 

Despite the clear sabotage, MC eventually tries to better herself, and fix Bear. This is mainly shown through the interactions between them (levelling up is what I called it in my notes, lmao), and how MC shifts focus from "he's just like everyone else" to "I want to help him."

This was super apparent in the Peanut Butter Bacon Burgers part where she tries HARD to get the perfect gift (a box of chocolates), and watches a YouTube video on how to wrap it. It was meant to convey her earnestness, and her committment, now, to trying.

It's fleshed out deeper in Part Two, but ultimately, it's too late. MC realises this when they finally discuss their loss. There is a moment when she talks about being scared of cutting the rotting limb (grief) off because what will she be left with? A gaping hole filled with nothing. It also foreshadows the ending a bit with her commenting that she's used to the stench (also unwilling to let go).

“It’s not something you learn. It’s just—something you have to do. You can’t bury it because it’ll just rot. You can’t run from it because it’ll just catch up to you. You have to face it. Take it on. Or it ruins you."

An epiphany in sin.

The ending is actually foreshadowed in Part One when MC comments that her horoscope says:

The most offbeat thing that happened today was your horoscope this morning said to be wary of sinkholes, a problem you haven't thought of since you were younger, and one you doubt you'd face in Virginia, of all places. 

And then later, when she meets Bear, she says:

He keeps his gaze—cenote blue—fixed on you the whole time. 

Ahhhh, I rambled so much!!! 😅 But I tried to keep tight notes with this series since it was going to be more than one chapter so I have tonnes of notes on it.

Hi. Because I keep replaying the Henry v Mimmy fight in death match mode, it got my brain thinking + I’m nearly up to that fight in my second playthrough. It got my brain thinking about how it affects my ship lore but the it turned into me recontextualising Mimmy’s Character.

- important to note before diving into this silly rewrite is that the Henry v Mimmy fight. Isn’t real. It’s happening when Henry is in a Coma after being freed from Dr. letz shake and he’s been uncabronised. The thing is that in NMH2, Henry ends up in Travis’s care, who may I remind people has a house NOT FIT for an incapacitated person. And so, for the sake of this version, Henry after the fight with Letz Shake is in Shallow’s care (her apartment has a guest bedroom. And vastly a more comfortable environment for Henry to be in compared to a claustrophobic motel room covered in anime merchandise.)

- OKAY MAYHAPS I SHOULD ADD SOME PREV CONTEXT ON TO WHY HENRY IS IN A COMA: there was a battle royal set up by the UAA, and Henry was involved. There was also another assassin by the name of Doctor Letz Shake, and he’s a. Machine that was hellbent on getting revenge on Henry. And he succeeds by encasing Henry in Carbon (Han Solo style).

- SLIGHT Alteration, is that Shallow was also involved in the battle Royale, but that she is able to get out of Letz Shake’s laser beams via her ability to make portals and pocket dimensions. unfortunately due to reasons, Henry insisted that she protect herself as a means to survive the Battle Royale and that he could take care of it himself (not realising his over confidence is what gets him encased in carbon + he directly falls into Letz Shake’s trap).

- the whole Letz Shake fight is explored into more detail here (it’s better explained in that post), but Obvs the outcome has Shallow feels really guilty about this but thankfully Travis comes up to fight Letz shake and basically the two work together to take him down.

- with a carbonised Henry free, it means someone needs to take care of him, initially Sylvia insisted Travis did so (much to his annoyance) but Shallow steps in and basically says: “HAVE YOU SEEN TRAVIS’S APARTMENT?! There is literally no room there!! Henry would be better off in my care because I at least have a spare guest bedroom!”

- Sylvia takes a moment to consider and then realises ‘yeah actually you’re right on this one’

- when Henry is un-carbonised, he is basically in a coma and having horrendous nightmares. And the main thing ‘haunting’ him is this entity known as Mimmy who is the literal embodiment of Henry’s anxieties of becoming like Travis. And it doesn’t help that Mimmy is like. A cute anime girl with mech arms and stuff.

- Mimmy in this version slightly different in her charactersation, in that she playfully taunts/messes with his mind by placing Henry in scenarios that he has previously thought of in his mind, and surprise! Most of them involve Shallow Candy, and honestly most of them go the way he initially imagined.

- Mimmy uses these scenarios to persuade Henry to stay in this mind palace/to not wake up back to reality, making the fake promise of making all of his hopes, dreams and wishes can come true here if he stayed. Mimmy even insists that “you can be with her in endless bliss and not have to worry about the real world’. And the thing is, he’s almost 100% convinced by it, yet he’s torn between the voice that in his head telling him to wake up, But yet part of him wants to stay.

- Henry is further convinced to stay when Mimmy when she shows him the future NMH3 version of himself going mad and causing destruction.

- there are two explanations why Mimmy shows this. She uses this as a means to show Henry a ‘What if’ version of himself in which he never met Shallow. Alternatively, she shows him this and says that fate will eventually come for Shallow and that her death will result in him losing himself to his own grief, and makes the irrational decision to take that grief and anger onto the world.

- the latter VERY much frightens him. It’s a horrifying thought and it almost convinces him to stay. Almost…

- Mimmy, believing that she has Henry full convinced, says: “We can stay here forever and ever and ever like a happy family!” It should be noted that part of her warning sort of come true but just not in the way she initially described them + she innocently and naively believes that she can help prevent Henry from going through more emotional pain, especially since she has seen his past and sympathises with him. She is well-intentioned but misguided in believing she can stop him from experiencing more emotional pain that he has already been through. The problem is that Mimmy is missing the nuances, of it.

- when Mimmy says this, she’s made a huge error. She has tried to supplant herself to be a substitute of Jeane, Henry’s daughter. it actively alarms him, directly snapping him back to the reality of the situation.

- Henry does care about his daughter, Jeane. He’s done his best to raise her in a world that is very cynical, and has done his best to (mostly) shield her away from the world of assassins and organised crime. He doesn’t want her to follow the same path he has gone down, and has actively used as much political power in his family to make sure they (the cooldown family) does not take her and raise her to become yet another soldier to do their bidding. He wants her to have a normal childhood that he never got to experience, he wants to ensure that she is supported in a positive environment, a luxury he was never given by his adopted family. He uses this motivation as a way to challenge Mimmy’s authority.

- When Henry defeats Mimmy, she pleads for forgiveness, saying that ‘she only wanted some form of company and never really intended to harm him.’ Henry does take some pity on her, before he can ‘kill/disintegrate her’ she does warn him that there are some truths to his future but is unable to specify what happens. And the thing is Henry simply accepts them as possibilities that could happen, but that he’d take responsibility for them when/even before he gets to those points.

- when Henry wakes up in his Coma, he realises he’s in Shallow’s Guest Room. Shallow is alerted by this because she hears him wake up (because honestly it was not a super pleasant experience being in a coma and if you’d wake up from one you’d probably make a ruckus and ask the empty space ‘where am I’ hoping for someone to respond and inform you what has happened lol). She comes to his aid and basically tries to offer some comfort + explain what happened to Dr. Letz Shake. Henry is a little bit disoriented but he’s mostly glad to see Shallow is okay.

- they both have a slightly awkward exchange with each other, but mostly Henry apologies for being too over confident during the battle royale + placing himself in unnecessary danger and shallow apologies for not being smart enough when it came to their strategy in the battle Royale, and that they should have been a little more subtle in how they protect/cover for each other in ranking fights. They just. Kinda have a quiet moment together in each other’s presence really.

- this quiet moment with each other is interrupted by phone call from the UAA letting Henry know that Travis is ranked 7, and that Sylvia has given him the green light to take out ranks 6,5 and 4 for his brother to progress. Which wow. Thanks Sylvia, you really know how to ruin an intimate moment huh /sarcasm.

2021 Dean & Sam swap places with 2006 Dean & Sam (only hours after getting Cas back)

While repairing the damage Chuck did to the worlds containing other Deans and Sams, Jack accidentally causes a shift in time, sending 2021 Dean & Sam back to 2006 and bringing 2006 Dean & Sam to 2021.

With no way to contact Jack off-world, Cas and Eileen do their best to make 2006 Dean & Sam feel at home in the Bunker while researching a way to undo the damage. 27 year old Dean definitely doesn’t believe in angels and 23 year old Sam still isn’t over losing Jess.

Stuck in 2006, Dean & Sam do what they do best: take a case and untangle the problem as they go. But while they have far more experience than their younger counterparts, they’re used to better equipment than a machete, two guns and a bag of salt.

(i do also have ANOTHER time travel idea where jack gets cas out of the empty only to accidentally drop him in 2006...not knowing crowley also managed to cling on for the ride. it's literally crowley and cas mooning over 2006 dean together while bickering)

My father was martyred by Israel on 10 October 2023 after sacrificing his care in hospital so the injured children could take priority. Today would have been his 60th birthday. He was always selfless, kind, and giving for others. My father gave up everything for me to be able to have a better life, because that is what he always dreamed for me and my sister. The world suffered a great loss when he died, and my heart is always with him and every Palestinian who has lost someone.

In his honour and memory, I would love for anyone who is able to do so to consider donating to The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

The PCRF is an amazing organisation that does so much for those in Gaza right now, including helping provide food, water and medicine. You can donate any amount you are able to- there is no minimum! Rowling isn't denying holocaust. She just pointed out that burning of transgender health books is a lie as that form of cosmetic surgery didn't exist. But of course you knew that already, didn't you?

I was thinking I'd probably see one of you! You're wrong :) Let's review the history a bit, shall we?

In this case, what we're talking about is the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, or in English, The Institute of Sexology. This Institute was founded and headed by a gay Jewish sexologist named Magnus Hirschfeld. It was founded in July of 1919 as the first sexology research clinic in the world, and was run as a private, non-profit clinic. Hirschfeld and the researchers who worked there would give out consultations, medical advice, and even treatments for free to their poorer clientele, as well as give thousands of lectures and build a unique library full of books on gender, sexuality, and eroticism. Of course, being a gay man, Hirschfeld focused a lot on the gay community and proving that homosexuality was natural and could not be "cured".

Hirschfeld was unique in his time because he believed that nobody's gender was either one or the other. Rather, he contended that everyone is a mixture of both male and female, with every individual having their own unique mix of traits.

This leads into the Institute's work with transgender patients. Hirschfeld was actually the one to coin the term "transsexual" in 1923, though this word didn't become popular phrasing until 30 years later when Harry Benjamin began expanding his research (I'll just be shortening it to trans for this brief overview.) For the Institute, their revolutionary work with gay men eventually began to attract other members of the LGBTA+, including of course trans people.

Contrary to what Anon says, sex reassignment surgery was first tested in 1912. It'd already being used on humans throughout Europe during the 1920's by the time a doctor at the Institute named Ludwig Levy-Lenz began performing it on patients in 1931. Hirschfeld was at first opposed, but he came around quickly because it lowered the rate of suicide among their trans patients. Not only was reassignment performed at the Institute, but both facial feminization and facial masculization surgery were also done.

The Institute employed some of these patients, gave them therapy to help with other issues, even gave some of the mentioned surgeries for free to this who could not afford it! They spoke out on their behalf to the public, even getting Berlin police to help them create "transvestite passes" to allow people to dress however they wanted without the threat of being arrested. They worked together to fight the law, including trying to strike down Paragraph 175, which made it illegal to be homosexual. The picture below is from their holiday party, Magnus Hirschfeld being the gentleman on the right with the fabulous mustache. Many of the other people in this photo are transgender.

There was always push back against the Institute, especially from conservatives who saw all of this as a bad thing. But conservatism can't stop progress without destroying it. They weren't willing to go that far for a good while. It all ended in March of 1933, when a new Chancellor was elected. The Nazis did not like homosexuals for several reasons. Chief among them, we break the boundaries of "normal" society. Shortly after the election, on May 6th, the book burnings began. The Jewish, gay, and obviously liberal Magnus Hirschfeld and his library of boundary-breaking literature was one of the very first targets. Thankfully, Hirschfeld was spared by virtue of being in Paris at the time (he would die in 1935, before the Nazis were able to invade France). His library wasn't so lucky.

This famous picture of the book burnings was taken after the Institute of Sexology had been raided. That's their books. Literature on so much about sexuality, eroticism, and gender, yes including their new work on trans people. This is the trans community's Alexandria. We're incredibly lucky that enough of it survived for Harry Benjamin and everyone who came after him was able to build on the Institute's work.

As the Holocaust went on, the homosexuals of Germany became a targeted group. This did include transgender people, no matter what you say. To deny this reality is Holocaust denial. JK Rowling and everyone else who tries to pretend like this isn't reality is participating in that evil. You're agreeing with the Nazis.

Thalia doesn’t keep many things in the hundreds of years she’s been alive.

When you first admitted what you did that counted as a “sin” he was flabbergasted! He thought they must’ve made a mistake. All be it one that was in favor since he got to be damned with you. But still!

At first he thought you were genuinely just joking. And he actually laughed! Like audible chuckled before waiting for the actual reason, which never came, and he soon realized you were being serious!
