The Hubble Space Telescope captured this image of NGC 5264, an irregular dwarf galaxy.
Irregular galaxies tend to have unusual shapes, like toothpicks, rings, or little groupings of stars. Their sizes also range from dwarf irregular galaxies, with 100 million times the Sun's mass, to large ones weighing 10 billion solar masses.
Astronomers think these galaxiesβ odd shapes are sometimes the result of interactions with others. For example, one spiral galaxy passing another with a stronger gravitational pull could lose some of its material, become distorted, and morph into a new shape. Some, like gas-rich dwarf galaxies, may be new, formed by material pulled from such encounters. Or perhaps when galaxies collide, they create a larger, oddly shaped mashup. Some scientists theorize that some large irregular galaxies could represent an intermediate step between spiral and elliptical galaxies.
Irregular galaxies born from galaxy interactions or collisions typically host a mix of older and younger stars, depending on the characteristics and composition of the original galaxies. Irregular galaxies may also hold significant amounts of gas and dust β essential ingredients for making new stars.
It's expected that when our galaxy collides with Andromeda, it will form an irregular galaxy.
βi wish you were not on this earth, but entirely within me, or rather that i were not on this earth, but entirely within you; i feel there is one too many of us; the separation into two people is unbearable.β
Physicists distorted a type of material known as a photonic crystal to divert the path of light much as it would passing through a gravitational field.
The Saturn system is a rich planetary system. It offers mystery, scientific insight, and obviously splendour beyond compare, and the investigation of this system has enormous cosmic reach... just studying the rings alone, we stand to learn a lot about the discs of stars and gas that we call the spiral galaxies.
Long post (probably ooc White Diamond and Robotnik)
I love making Steven Universe and Homestuck AUs of random characters, so hereβs my Dr. Robotnik and Agent Stone as gems idea.
Robotnik is a one of a kind red emerald owned by White Diamond. He would have been shattered for being βoff colorβ if not for the fact that his uniqueness makes him significantly smarter than all the other emeralds and White feels she can use this to her advantage. Heβs Whiteβs resident scientist/weapons engineer, and her sort of βpet/secret weaponβ thing. He starts going by Bixbite to further separate himself from the other βrocks for brainsβ emeralds (yes, I know thereβs a cannon Bixbite, but I found that out after I made this AU, so too bad, Robotnikβs the only Bixbite in existence in this AU). However, heβs incredibly difficult to interact with, so White usually has another gem relay messages for her. He often ends up poofing said messengers, though, out of irritation. This becomes a problem, so out of passive aggressiveness and trying to fix the problem, White makes him a Pearl specially suited to match his personality (so as not to be afraid to talk to him) and act as a barrier between Robotnik and every other gem. This Pearl is Agent Stone. At first, Robotnik is the happy with another plebeian gem in his lab, calling Pearl βnothing more than a common stone to him.β Eventually, he starts to grow on him, and the nickname βStoneβ sticks. Stone, of course, in typical pearl fashion, starts to fall in love with his Bixbite.
I have more to their story, but itβs not all fleshed out, yet. Some random tidbits I haveβ¦
-Pearlβs weapons are handguns
-Bixbite hates working under White and wants to be his own boss
-Theyβre not for the revolution, but theyβre not against it either. They couldnβt care less about some planet called βEarthβ with other creatures on it. But at some point, Bixbite gets cracked and needs to be healed. Pearl hears about a rebel Rose Quarts with healing powers and escapes with his broken boss to Earth to heal him. They end up getting stuck on Earth as Homeworld fugitives.
-Bixbite enjoys making ships, but is envious of the fact that the other emeralds get to actually fly them, while heβs stuck on the ground. He secretly wishes to see the stars and often daydreams about space.
-They accidentally fuse very briefly while Bixbite is cracked, so he has no memory of this happening, but Pearl remembers. He never said anything to anyone (not even his boss) about it, but has been trying to recreate that moment ever since. When he finally does, their fusion isnβt very stable, breaking apart only moments later. Bixbite ends up having a distaste for fusion, feeling like heβs losing himself when he fuses.
-Bixbite does eventually return Pearl's romantic feelings, but they find other ways to show their love outside of fusion.
Thatβs all I have. If you guys like this AU, let me know! If you have questions, Iβll try to answer as best I can
I hope you all enjoy this little one shot I created about the Ineffable Husbands. Quite a few of you wanted to see this fic, so here it is!
(@lilhappytweety) (@siskey) I hope I made you proud.Enjoy this little one shot!πβ¨

After the body swap, Aziraphale had discovered a secret that Crowley never wanted him to find out. When the swap happened, many colors had faded and the world seemed to look completely different to Aziraphale. The demonβs fiery locks had faded into a brown color, yet his eyes remained the yellow color that he had known for millennia now.
Crowley had always hated his eyes, and the color yellow. That just so happened to be Aziraphaleβs favorite color, mostly because of the demon himself. Trust him, Aziraphale was well aware of the demonβs hatred for his eyes in general, believing that they were just another insult from The Almighty and a reminder that he was the Serpent Of Eden, and had been the one to tempt Eve into eating the apple in the first place.
If Aziraphale hadnβt been on apple tree duty that day, he most likely wouldβve never met Crowley. Well, back then he had been βCrawleyβ. His point still stood though. Sitting in The Ritz, Aziraphale blurted out the question quite abruptly.
βCrowley, why in all the years that I have known you, have you never made me aware that you were partially colorblind?β Crowley practically spat his drink across the table. Aziraphale wasnβt surprised about his response to this, as he had given him no warning. Crowley mumbled a response quietly, but still loud enough for the Angel to hear.
βWell, when you spend 6000 years having snake eyes and being colorblind, you get used to it.β Aziraphaleβs eyebrows furrowed before practically dragging him out of The Ritz, despite Crowleyβs protests. He had an idea.
βAngel! Where the Heaven are you taking me?!β Aziraphale practically dragged Crowley back to St. Jamesβs Park, sitting down on bright green grass. Patting the ground next to him, he smiled at the demon who slowly sat. A few ducks wandered about in the darkness, the sounds of crickets filling the air.
βCrowley. I want to see what you see.β Crowley raised an eyebrow at him, Aziraphale chuckling softly. Inhaling deeply, he tilted his head quizzically.
βNgk, um, your eyes are a very light blueish-purple-β Aziraphale raised his eyebrows at him, hoping to fill in the word he was missing.
βPeriwinkle?β Crowley nodded, Aziraphale beaming as he listed off questions. He wanted to know Crowleyβs world. Through his eyes. Aziraphale pointed upwards.
βWhat about space? Can you see it?β Giving a breathy laugh, he nodded. Aziraphale snapped his fingers and a picnic blanket was underneath the pair.
βThe stars are the same color as your eyes. Never minded that part of being colorblind.β Aziraphale scooted closer to Crowley, his head resting on Crowleyβs chest as Crowley ran his free hand through Aziraphaleβs unruly curls. Pointing out constellation after constellation, Aziraphale gave small hums of agreement, letting Crowley know he was still listening.
He had made stars up in Heaven, although Aziraphale wasnβt sure if he remembered that part. He still was fascinated by stars, galaxies, and nebulae just as much as he was back then. He tried not to show it though.
βThat there is Ursa Minor.β Nodding, Aziraphale let his eyes shut, still listening to Crowley. The Little Dipper. He loved seeing his demon so passionate about some of the galaxies he helped create.
βSo what is the true difference between a planet and a star?β Crowley seemed to answer a little too quickly, to his embarrassment.
βStars produce their own light and heat. Planets canβt. Thatβs why we see them in space.β Aziraphale gave a small βhuhβ noise. Crowley was filled with knowledge of the universe that was just as vast as the thing itself. He had said this in a tone that implied that it was simply common knowledge and he didnβt quite understand why some people didnβt know.
Crowley was Aziraphaleβs star. He would forever shine brighter than a demon or Angel because he was different. The Almighty may have taken away some of his vision, but they granted him βImaginationβ. He was one of the most creative people he knew.
Crowley was akin to a star in the way he shined, but also, he was like a planet, forever orbiting Aziraphale. The two supernatural beings were their own nebulae. Colorful and bright. Gasses and dust mixed together in a beautiful galactic dance that created a kaleidoscope of colors.
Each time they interact, more and more protostars are born. Still young. Babies that are just starting out. And it will stay that way for billions of years. Like Crowley had said before, a nebula is a star factory.
They were each otherβs universes. Every touch, kiss, hug, creating an explosion of a supernova. Hot as energy surged off of them in waves. Then it was back to becoming nebulae again. The process happened in a never ending cycle. He glanced up at Crowleyβs fiery red locks.
He was Aziraphaleβs own Red Giant star. Exhaling, he let out a content sigh. As long as he had Crowley, he would be happy with his partner and every single one of his periwinkle tinted protostars.
The image below is Lenticular galaxy NGC 4886, photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope, containing primarily old stars but no spiral arms.
Lenticular galaxies are like a cross between spiral galaxies and elliptical galaxies. They have the central bulge and disk common to spiral galaxies but no arms. But like ellipticals, lenticular galaxies have older stellar populations and little ongoing star formation.
Scientists have a few theories about how lenticular galaxies evolved. One idea suggests these galaxies are older spirals whose arms have faded. Another proposes that lenticulars formed from mergers of spiral galaxies.
I'm not really sure how I'm gonna do it but I'm gonna do it. I feel like my whole life has lead up to loving him. He makes me so happy and I know in my heart I could make him happy as well.β€οΈ
