Threshold Theory Energy Work Fundamentals The Subtle Body Spell Design Spell Dictation Sigils: How-to Intro to Gnosis Anchors
Tumblr media
What is a Spell Circle?
Spell circles, while they aren’t necessary, are a tool that is used as a focal point for a working. They are also very helpful in aiding in headspace via the implementation of aesthetics. Spell circles are technically hypersigils, or a complex sigil that is typically constructed of multiple sigils in tandem. They are typically constructed of three parts: Incantations, foundations, and root sigils. They are used in a ritual format, typically with each practitioner having a standardized approach to using them for spell work.
How do they work?
A spell circle is similar to a sigil in the way that there is an incorporation of intention, energy, passion, and focus in their creation. Spell circles operate most effectively within the energetic model or something adjacent. The psychological model will be entirely ineffective; at least as I have prescribed their creation in this article. They often contain sigils as well as some other elements that serve to connect the circle to the overall working. These elements include incantations, words, phrases, symbology, geometric/organic designs, numerology, etc.
Incantations, words, or phrases can be said out loud as part of the working (provided that doing so doesn’t break gnosis), or written out and burned into ash and incorporated into the working through that process. Though they can also be incorporated in other ways as well. As an example, you could write a song and record it and have the tablature or staff wrapped around the perimeter of the spell circle. You could then listen to the song while casting your spell using it as a centerpoint of your gnosis.
The other elements of a spell circle are used to enhance the threshold of the root sigil or purpose. Each additional element adds a node, or correspondence, to the threshold of the spell. Doing so helps refine the accuracy and potency of the working.
Designing a Spell Circle
If you have experience working with sigils, then designing a spell circle can be pretty easy. I highly recommend using programs like procreate to make these, or drafting tools! Freehanding them can be quite difficult without any experience with technical drawing. I use my tablet to draw them digitally and then trace them onto a burnable substrate such as paper.
Incantation(s)
An incantation is a phrase that is said that astutely states the intent of the spell. It is important to have this memorized, if you use them. Without having them memorized, using them will pull you out of gnosis by disturbing your focus. Incantations are like the thread that binds the spell circle to the rest of the working, especially if you use other tools, sigils, etc. When I construct my spell circles, I use the pronunciation of my sigils as the incantation, which are all aspects of a conlang that I developed. This can be seen as a sigil chain. So long as the incantation is written somewhere on or near the circle, then it is capable of being connected to the burning of those sigils via the incantation. I find that having the incantation encircle the root sigil is the most aesthetically pleasing for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Root Sigil
This is a sigil that is at the core of the circle. It should represent the base goal of the spell. This sigil is connected to the rest of the circle via the Foundation(s). Like all sigils, it is important that it is drawn while channeling its meaning through your mental state, emotions, and subtle body to be most effective. To create them, I will draw the enclosing circle first before drawing a grid within it. This grid is then used to ensure that the root sigil is centered and scaled appropriately. The sigil is always the first part that I draw. Here are a few examples of sigils I have used for spell circles:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Foundation(s)
Foundations are simple designs that each have their own correspondences. Some foundations use numerology to derive their meaning, others are given their meanings based on how they interact with the root. The foundation(s) used should also align with the purpose of the spell; but more specifically, to describe the means of manifestation of the spell to some degree. They can also be used to expand the context of the root sigil, ex. Whether it is intended to be a blessing or curse. I am always sure that when I draw them in the grid, that they appear to be a part of the sigil, yet also behind it by having the lines stop and continue any shapes that are a part of the sigil, like circles, triangles, and squares. Here are a few foundations that I use:
Tumblr media
Associative Symbology
These symbols are things I don't really implement in spell circles myself, but include things such as astrological symbols, alchemical symbols, magical alphabets, color, and imagery. These symbols are typically incorporated in equal distribution around the circle in radial fashion, but can also be used in other configurations. The number of symbols can be implemented with numerology in mind as well. Colored line-work can also be used to further the correspondences. Imagery such as pictographs can also be used, following similar implementation as other symbols.
Tumblr media
Applications
Spell Circles can be used for all sorts of workings, typically in a ritualistic fashion. However, they may also be used as passive sigils, meaning that they are placed and affect a specified space gradually over time. If they are used in this fashion, they will need to be revisited and charged periodically. When using a spell circle in a ritual, place them underneath the central spell elements such as cauldrons, candles, bowls, etc. Please use discernment. Fire safety is of the utmost importance. Once the spell is in motion, use the incantation that connects the circle to the working. I highly recommend rehearsing your incantation until it is memorized so that your spell’s effectiveness isn’t hindered. I highly recommend placing a spell anchor onto your spell circle as well so that there is a direct medium holding it. This way the spell can be recharged, broken, or altered as necessary.
Ritual Closing & Disposal
As part of closing any working, it is important to close off all energy that is connected to the working other than the anchor. Part of this is disposing of the spell circle in a responsible manner. This can be through responsibly burning it and burning the ashes, burying the spell circle itself (Provided it is on a biodegradable medium), soaking it in water to dissolve the ink and then cleansing the medium, or if it is drawn on a dry-erase board you can just erase it and cleanse it. When burying the ashes of your working, try to use your discretion as to which direction it is buried relative to your sleeping place or place of casting.
Identifying a Spell Circle
A few popular designs for spell circles have been misidentified in the past, specifically those of John Dee, who was a prolific cryptographer. These designs have a lot of the hallmarks of spell circles; however, they are enclosed with 72 latin letters, which don’t have any magical or mystical correspondences, but are very common in encryption wheels, and then are encoded through biblical reference. The influence his work had was very substantial in the development of spell circles and their design. While his encryption circles can be used for magic, like any other design drawn through intention, passion, and gnosis, it is obvious that it was not intended as such given the historical context of his life.

The Evermore Grimoire: Magic Powers
Spell Casting is the power to cast spells and perform rituals. It is one of the basic powers possessed by both witches, sea witches, and warlocks with the others being  Scrying, Potion Brewing, and Mediumship. Spells can be formulated by a variety of methods, but the core and key to spell casting; is pure, clear and focused intentions. It’s through will and intent that determines the nature and function of the spells when cast, thus achieving the result that the witch or warlock desires. Often, the effectiveness of spells is further augmented by intrinsic components that lend potency to the mystical workings. These components can take various forms such as words, arcane symbols, incantations, specific thoughts, gestures, rituals, or even the utilisation of enchanted items like wands and staffs. Some spells require more than one witch or warlock to make them work in order to increase the amount of magic and therefore potential power available for the spell.

New Years Spell Jar
Manifest everything you want for the New Year!
Tumblr media
Gather all of your ingredients. You'll need an empty jar & an incense. I prefer Sandalwood for protection.
Tumblr media
A white candle to represent purity and protection.
Tumblr media
A coin to bring you luck and prosperity.
Tumblr media
You can write wishes/intentions on a piece of paper or bay leaves. If it's multiple, burn them first in your cauldron then add the ashes to the jar.
Tumblr media
Cinnamon to draw in money and protection.
Tumblr media
Depending on your intention, add salt. White is for purity and protection. Pink is for protection and relationships. Black is to banish negativity and protection.
Tumblr media
Black pepper is for banishing negativity and protection from evil.
Tumblr media
Basil is used for love, money, and protection. It will help you move forward in a positive manner despite perilous danger.
Tumblr media
Rosemary can be used for good health, improve memory, and love/lust.
Tumblr media
And lastly, lavender. Lavenders magical uses include love, protection, healing, sleep and peace.
Cleanse yourself and utensils. Don't forget the jar too. Use the incense smoke. Layer your ingredients into the jar thinking of and speaking your intention for each one out loud and imagining it as if it has already happened.
When you're done, put the top on and seal with the white candle wax. You can add twine and a charm to represent what you'd like for your new year.
I like to say a chant or prayer while I do this. A good one for this would be:
Blessed tidings of good cheer
as we see the end of another year
may the new year bring me joy
may the new year bring me hope
may the new year bring me peace
may the new year bring good health
and maybe a little wealth
with love and light ever after
please don't forget the laughter
with harm to none nor return unto me
as i will it so shall it be.
It all depends on your intention.
Here are a few other things you can add to your new years jar:
Egg shells - strength, rose - happiness, all spice - energy, mint - safety, thyme - courage, lemon balm - friendship, holly - protection, vervain - health, coves - luck and sage - cleansing. You can add anything that pertains to your intention/wishes.
Good luck witches and happy new year to all!

7-Day Spell Crafting Practice
New to spell crafting? Trying to learn how to create spells but don't know where to start or what to do? Try this 7-Day spell crafting practice!
Tumblr media
Originally this was posted in response to an ask but I felt like it'd be good to give it a post of its own~
Why…
are you doing the spell?
Who…
is it for?
is needed? (Other people, deities, spirits, etc)
What…
ingredients will you need?
vessel or objects are needed for the spell?
When…
is the spell going to take place?
Where…
will the spell take place?
will you dispose of the remains (if needed)?
will you place the vessel (if applicable)?
How…
will you anchor or contain the spell?
power it?
And Finally...
On the last day put it all together and either do the spell or don't. This is practice for spell creation, not necessarily spell casting, it's to get you in the habit of researching and writing down your magical workings. You can actually cast the spell if you'd like, just remember to record your results!

Energy Work Basics
Conceptualization vs. Visualization
Energetic Awareness
Energetic Constructs
The Subtle Body
The Wellsource
What is an anchor?
An anchor is an object that a spell (see construct) is housed within and sustained by. There are several ways an object can be anchored; short term, in spells that involve burning or destroying the anchor during or after the working to release a wave of energy (projection); moderate duration, in which spells have a decided end and is programmed to diffuse or be released; and long term, most optimally used for wards, these projections are anchored into something that sustains the construct for as long as possible.
Why is anchoring important?
All magic involves a projection or transference of energy, even if subconsciously. When energy is moving it is important to be able to sustain it and keep it from diffusing into the environment and/or to sustain its properties in lieu of ambient energies. Even if the timeframe of the working is very short, energetic half-lives can be significantly shorter depending on the composition. During any working, even with divinity, it is wise to use an anchor as an intermediary for the working so that nothing is altered or lost in transference. A good example of anchors that aren’t widely done consciously are divination tools. When a practitioner uses a pendulum, it is common for it to be cleansed and then programmed. Since the working is on the pendulum itself, it becomes an anchor. The same goes for tarot and most other forms of divination. These anchors are charged and maintained while they are being used.
How to anchor effectively
When choosing an anchor for a spell it is important to take the timeframe of the working into account. Paper, wood and other destroyable non-conductive materials are great for short term spells. These anchors can be destroyed to release the construct to do what it was designed to do before quickly dissipating. Sigilwork can be a great example of this. Iron and copper make for great anchors for keeping the construct from interacting with environmental properties, but do not do well with sustaining it energetically, because of this they are best when housing spiritual entities. Piezoelectric materials make the best anchors for long term spells. Even under atmospheric pressure, they release the most minute energy; which, is more than enough to sustain a construct. Quartz is among the best anchors that can be used, which is why it is commonly thought of as being useful in any working.
Some anchors can also be used to filter energies or modify their properties. Glass, gold, and silver are good examples of this. They each take energies that they hold or absorb and their inherent energies react with them. Glass, however, is the easier to program.

🌟Spellwork 101🌟
Hello darlings 🥰
Creating your own spell allows you to infuse it with your intentions, personal energy, and connection to the universe. Here are some steps to help you craft a spell that resonates with your desires and intentions:
🔮 Set your intention: Begin by clarifying your intention and what you wish to manifest or transform through your spell. Is it love, abundance, protection, or healing? Get clear on your goal and be specific in your intention.
📜 Select your ingredients: Choose tools that align with your intention and hold symbolic or energetic significance. For example, if you're seeking love, you might incorporate rose petals, pink candles, and rose quartz crystals. Research the magical properties of herbs, crystals, colors, and symbols to find the perfect ingredients for your spell.
🕯️ Create a sacred space: Cleanse yourself and space and create an altar or dedicated area where you can work your magic. You may want to light candles, burn incense, or play soft instrumental music to enhance the sacred ambiance.
🌿 Prepare your tools: Gather any tools you'll need, such as a wand, athame, or cauldron. These tools can amplify your intentions and assist in directing energy. Use what resonates with you and feels aligned with your practice.
✍️ Write your incantation: Craft a concise and meaningful incantation that reflects your intention. Use your own words or draw inspiration from ancient spells, poetry, or affirmations. Remember, the power lies in your intention and the energy you infuse into your words.
🌙 Cast your circle: Create a sacred circle of energy around you by visualizing a protective barrier or physically walking in a circle. This helps contain and amplify the energy of your spell. You can call upon the elements, deities, or spirits to join and support you in your magical work.
🧙‍♀️ Perform the spell: Follow the steps you've prepared, incorporating your chosen ingredients, symbols, and tools. Focus your energy and intention, recite your incantation, and visualize the desired outcome as if it has already manifested. Trust in your own power and the energies of the universe.
🙏 Express gratitude: Thank the universe, deities, or energies you invoked for their presence and assistance. Express gratitude for the manifestation of your intentions, knowing that your spell has been cast and is in motion.
🔥 Release the energy: To complete the spell, release the energy you've raised. This can be done through visualization, blowing out candles, or speaking a closing affirmation. Trust that the spell's energy will continue to work on your behalf.
Keep in mind that spellcrafting is a deeply personal and intuitive practice. Feel free to experiment, adapt, and personalize these steps to suit your unique magical journey. With practice and belief in your own power, you can manifest the desires of your heart and create positive change in your life.

Hey, so I did a tie breaking ritual (the type that breaks two people apart) for me and some kind of shitty people and I noticed that I'm disassociating a lot afterwards and somewhat towards the end of the ritual. Is this a normal experience with casting these kinds of spells? Do you have any recommendations for getting rid of the disassociative feelings afterwards or is it just a matter of coping as I usually would?
I apologize for the more serious ask and thank you very much for your help!
Sorry for waiting so long to reply!! I've definitely had some dissociative episodes after casting intense spells or doing otherwise intense magic. I don't think it's abnormal but it's certainly scary!
You could try grounding yourself beforehand. You can also try creating a spiritual anchor to a physical object. I will often hold a large rock (usually citrine or obsidian) in my hand to not only give me a physical sensation to focus on, but to give myself an anchor spiritually.
Does anyone else have any tips for our anon?
