hobie brown telling us what he doesn’t believe in but showing us what he does believe in.
he doesn’t believe in labels, the government, calling himself a hero, consistency, the lot.
but he believes in miles. he believes in being able to chose your own path, in being an individual, in helping others. he believes in the personal idea of what is good rather than the big paintbrush of The Greater Good.
which is a fantastic way of characterizing him. because words still hold weight, but you need action to back it all up

hobie and pavitr but they met during middle school instead (pav's rawr era)
"how is the picture horizontal if the phone is vertical?" "who is taking the picture?" "is that ken kaneki?" don't worry about it
anyway here are the versions without the dog filter + one with the snapchat pink filter
Hobie and Pavitr are early concept art from cteec(ig) and AmiThompson_h
emo pavitr is younger so I thought it'd be fun to have them on a different universe being an emo middle schooler and a silly punk guy. they're besties

you watch this movie. you look at this character design. you hear that his main musical motifs involve heavy electric guitar. and you somehow convince yourself that the music that truly captures the character's ethos. is slow acoustic songs about breakups. you have negative media literacy skills.

hobie in true british fashion giving everyone nicknames but miguel hates it. so hobie now refuses to call him miguel.
“mike, how you doing?”
“aye, it’s migs!”
“it’s my man ‘guelly!”
you can practically see the steam coming out of miguel’s ears every time he hates that kid
