woke: as a musician, hobie probably has an appreciation for a wide variety of musical styles, but isn't likely to be really "into" anything that doesn't at the very least have the punk ethos of anti-authoritarianism, and likely most concerns himself with his local punk scene

bespoke: all the stuff in the "woke" category, but when around other spider-people he shit-talks everything that isn't punk, partially to fly under the radar by conforming to their pre-existing notions about him, and partially because once when he did it spider-noir took him to an absolutely incredible jazz club to "prove him wrong"

So Spider-Man 2 for the PS5 is out, and it's great.

I've been watching different playthroughs for this game, and I find the symbiote suit's positive reception fascinating. Because in every single playthrough that I've watched so far, everyone loves fighting as the symbiote and are bummed when Peter eventually breaks out of its influence and rips off the suit. Because the suit has all of these cool abilities and enhancements that they can't use anymore.

And you can tell that that's exactly what Insomniac was going for, to really show just how addicting the symbiote's power truly is. How it corrupts those who wear it, making them think that they need that strength. By making the symbiote suit's gameplay mechanics and abilities fun for the player to use, they too become addicted to the power.

And THAT is a fucking brilliant game design and narrative decision. One that adds so much depth to an already really cool story.
