Side Order idea #2: instead of just having the tower in Inkopolis Square change colors during splatfests as a stand in for Big Man's team, we should have dedf1sh preform with Off the Hook, considering the fact that Acht used to know Marina in some way, most likely as a friend. They wouldn't nessisarily be a 3rd member of Off the Hook, but Acht could probs just collab with Pearl & Marina for splatfest music.

grizzco roller should go one of two ways. either give it dynamo power + carbon roller speed and no pierce damage, or give it dynamo power and speed, but make it so you can roll over literally any boss, including armored ones. maybe even make vertical flicks pierce too for good measure. both would have high ink consumption but the latter one even moreso

theres been some speculation that theres gonna be a "big run" for salmon run soon, basically like a splatfest for salmon run that they showed off in the direct, and that its gonna come with some new King Salmonids. i rly hope that any new king salmonids we get have different hairstyles like what u can give lil buddy for story mode :)

d’you think the COVID pandemic impacted development of Splatoon 3, which is why ROTM turned out the way it did? Because I recall Nintendo saying they didn’t start working on it until after the Chaos vs Order Splatfest, and then after that they put out three new Splatfests in 2020 and a 35th Anniversary Mario one in 2021 for Splatoon 2.

yeah im positive covid put a wedge in the development of splatoon 3. i dont know if its entirely to blame for how rotm turned out the way it did, and i don't know the extent of how much it screwed things over for the splatoon team i do have a theory that i think is likely though....

I think this new years 2020 art was hinting at a splatoon 3 announcement that year, but it got delayed due to covid. considering the first trailer for S3 came in early 2021, it doesn't seem at all surprising that if it weren't for covid, an s3 announcement would've come even earlier. i think splatoon 3 did, and is, having some kind of development hell considering the time from announcement to release... it was announced for a summer 2022 release and ccame in september, which... barely even counts as summer? idk how much of it is due to covid or the splatoon team biting off more than they can chew or some other source of development hell [[spoilers from datamines]] and then currently, side order seems to be experiencing delays. there's splatoon 2 gear that's speculated to be released with the season that side order is coming out, iirc at the start, the gear was set for season 5 (drizzle 2023) but has currently been pushed back to season 7 (fresh 2024) [[end spoilers]]

splatoon 3 9.0.0 is out, here's what i'm seeing about it from dataminers on twitter (slight spoilers, but i've avoided a few more spoilery things, if you want any more information on this look up OatmealDome, LeanYoshi, ashbinary_, Coxxs, DiamCreeper24)

jackpot banner got replaced by one showing promo characters (like veronika)

new salmon run shop reward is a wooden grizz replica for 999 bronze

there is a "new" season catalog that contains all old stuff (these generic catalogs will rotate from now on)

coxxs posted a video showing a bit of the splatlands bowl big run stage (there is apparently new music, i watched it while muted so i could leave that for when it comes out). the egg cannons that they just revealed would be on the stage function similarly to big shot cannons (sometimes lands in the basket, sometimes just near it)

fish scale bonus capsules give a guaranteed minimum of 3 silver and 1 gold per rotation (and the 1 gold has a 20% chance of being 2 gold, and the 3 silver has a 20% chance of being 6 silver)

the scales for reaching the egg goal in the upcoming big run start at 7 gold/21 silver/210 bronze for reaching 700 million, and go up higher (oatmealdome only posted the first 3, but according to the suggested pattern it goes up by 1 gold/3 silver/30 bronze for each 100mil eggs beyond that point). there is also news dialogue for failing the 700mil quota

they've added support for more big runs (probably reruns? there's new dialogue for another big big run, and a regular big run on undertow spillway)

there are banners for each grand festival team, and gear based on the idol outfits

splatoon 2 splatoween gear is back (possibly for a splatoween rerun?)

all idol amiibo (new and old) will get a new event flag called "remember grand festival" suggesting we will be able to access the venue after grand festival (maybe similar to the splatoon 1 concerts?)

Some other things:

Lean Yoshi (splatoon dataminer who made the splatoon gear seed checker and splatoon 2/splatoon 3 database) who I trust a lot, said that the last two big runs "will probably be sturgeon and flounder"

Every weapon is going to get a second kit, including new weapons such as dread wringer and heavy edit (reminder this data is from april)

And yes, while I said side order was not leaked, it appears to have names of characters and some plot points referenced in file names (both links spoiler free, comments not guaranteed). Again, this was all before the delay, and they've definitely added more and removed things. Don't ask me about side order things, I don't know, and I don't want to know.

Splatfest to be extended?

HEADS UP: Datamining below the cut! This isn't 100% specific proof of it happening, but it's still possible:

[Source] So apparently the files for Splatoween and FrostyFest were both left in the files for the Splatoon 2 Inkopolis Square plaza!

Which leads us to believe that we will either get reruns of Splatoween/Frostyfest (with the respective Pearl and Marina outfits), or we may even get an extension of Splatfest themes and may get new themes in the future for these events!

At any rate, super exciting!!

Wow... 2 years flew by fast, huh? To think that just two years ago we finally got hands on the 3rd funny cephalopod activities game after a year plus of waiting...

I remember watching the S3 direct live 2 years ago. Boy did I go crazy when they showed off the splatana wiper for the first time (I really wanted swords in Splatoon and then they finally became real!) and laughed my ass off when they showed off the Big Shot. And then there were the few days or weeks of dodging spoilers left and right because people ended up getting the game early.

And then I finally got to play the game myself. And I loved it. And would play it every day after school.

And soon enough Side Order got announced. Boy did that teaser send chills up my spine. Y'all if I had a nickel for every time Nintendo made a freaky teaser for a game that had a bunch of cryptic imagery and was accompanied by music box music that really got me asking wtf I'd have two nickels, which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice AND WITH GAMES THAT I LIKE BTW (people following know damn well what that other trailer I'm talking about...). And then I'd spend the next few months posting about datamine whenever they came out. And then last September (a year ago at this point if I remember correctly)...

THEY GOT ANNOUNCED TO BE IN SIDE ORDER. TO SAY I WAS EXCITED WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I WAS ON CLOUD 9 FOR THE ENTIRE DAY.

A few months later Side Order came out. I played the first 10 levels the same night I finally got access to the DLC and was searching everywhere online for the music that played in Marina's boss fight shortly afterwards. Man... to think that was just a few months ago...

And then July rolls in. I was vibing to the Death of Slim Shady and my blog was filled to the BRIM with posts about Emio the Smiling Man 'cause I just wanted to figure out what tf is up with that funny bag man. One morning I woke up to my phone blowing up with Tumblr notifications. I check out Tumblr and somehow my random ass final fest concept PREDICTED THE FUTURE MONTHS IN ADVANCE. I post about my amazement about predicting the grandfest theme and resume posting about Emio shortly afterwards.

And then that brings us to now. Waiting for the grandfest results.

It was an honor splatting with you guys. I've been a Splatoon fan ever since I saw an ad for the 1st game on TV. This game means a lot to me and this splatfest was a lot of fun. To think this might be the last new splatfest theme for a while (I say last new theme and not splatfest in general since there's some stuff in the game's code pointing to the possibility of rerun splatfests)...

I can't wait for what the Splatoon devs have in store for us next. Next year marks 10 YEARS of Splatoon. We're definitely going to be getting some new Splatoon stuff next year. A milestone like that can't be ignored.

Anyways, I hope you guys liked my rambling about the silly cephalopod game (with a side of bag man and Eminem). Stay fresh, off the hook, and keep dripping ink you guys!

what actually happens if you clear with every palette? whats the real, final reward?
