Sometimes Supernatural will make a reference that is so aggressively current and it reminds me that this show didn't just take place in 2005, and I'm reminded just how damn long this show ran.

At the beginning of episode 13x23, Sam is at the bunker, explaining everything about their world to the Apocalypse world people. And then he gets a call from Dean saying they got something. Next scene, Sam is reunited with Cas, Dean and Jack who were on a hunt just the three of them TOGETHER.

They needed family time without Uncle Sam. Like WTF. They were just the three of them, spending time searching for werewolves. They didn’t need to be three for that, especially with Jack’s and Cas’s powers. Dean probably wanted some time alone with them and that’s cute. I’m fine, this is fine.

With all due disrespect, how did they fuck Supernatural up at every level, every single time? So much potential lost. I've been a (reluctant) fan for years and I'm still finding out new things everyday. Things that make me go feral. The amount of queerbaiting and homophobia. Yikes. It's sad really. It could have been a win-win situation. And it wouldn't even have taken much. All people wanted was a kiss/confession from Dean. That's all. And (almost) everything else could have been forgiven/overlooked. Every time I feel like a failure, I think of the ending they created - the worst possible way to make Destiel canon, and I instantly feel better about my own fuck-ups.
