Looks like it's official now, since we've been introduced to the concept of relationship problems from Yor's perspective. XD

Now, we just have to wait for the triggering event.

Finished “Spy x Family” chapter 79:

You know, even though it’s another chapter where not much happened, I’m giving it a pass since it’s a Yor-centric chapter. At this point, I’ll take what I can get, especially since it feels like the series has turned into Anya’s school stories/Loid and Nightfall shenanigans. And also, the humor feels tighter. Maybe not necessarily a return to form since it’s still not as funny as the first few chapters, but there’s an improvement. It’s at least funnier than these last few chapters.

If I had to gripe, I’ll say that while Drunk Yor is a fun way to mine for comedy, it does at times feel a little too infantile. I mean, I know she’s drunk, but sometimes it feels like an excuse to write a grown woman acting like a child. And that’s kind of how Yor feels as a character in her recent appearances, like she’s regressing in maturity but the story gives an in-universe excuse for her behavior. “It’s because she’s drunk”. “It’s because she’s socially awkward”. “It’s because she doesn’t get normal people”. “It’s because she’s just weird”. “It’s because she’s flustered by Loid”.

I’ll let this go…but not gonna lie, part of me does wonder if Tatsuya Endo feels more comfortable writing children characters. It would explain why Anya takes up way more panel time than her parents, as well as all the focus on Anya’s friends. Also, it’d explain the series, at certain points, feeling like it was written for little kids. That said, I don’t really have a gripe with Yor being infantilized, there are worse things I have gripes about with this series. I just prefer adult characters to act more like adults, which I admit might be a personal thing since I’m getting old.

(I won’t say how old I am, but I will say that my favorite childhood anime was “Bleach”.)

So, for a score, I give this chapter 6.5 out of 10. It’s okay.

*Spy x Family Chapter 79 Spoiler Warning*

ok first of all, right before I read it I was hoping for a TwiYor chapter so I’m happy that this chapter did revolve around their relationship❤️

AND NOT JUST THEIRS BUT YOR AND HER COWORKERS ❤️❤️

Just like in the last chapter, it seems Endo is trying to show us just how much all the characters have better connected with each other over time. It’s crazy to think about one of the first chapters when Camila was conspiring against Yor for being married. BUT IM DEFINITELY NOT GONNA FORGET TO TALK ABOUT THIS BECAUSE WHATTT

At first I actually though this happened but it is pretty common for characters to get caught up in their own thoughts (especially Yor & Anya) so I wasn’t surprised when it was only Yor’s imagination BUT I FEEL LIKE ENDO MIGHT BE TEASING US FOR A LATER CHAPTER WHERE WE MIGHT GET OUR TWIYOR BATTLE?? 👀👀

I’ll also admit I thought we might get a small peck from TwiYor as well but I guess not 😭😭

Overall this was a good chapter and it’s definitely one of my favs. If I’m right, I think this is going to be the first chapter of Vol 12 which is crazy to think about

I’ll keep things brief and spare everyone the rant, but there’s just something sad and infuriating about this one panel from today’s Spy x Family chapter.

So, we have:

Dominic, who, despite probably being a genuinely kind guy, “just goofily laughs” off his tardiness to his dates with Camilla instead of properly apologizing.

Sharon’s husband, who, despite having a wife and child who’s attending an expensive private school, cavalierly spends money and gives “excuse after excuse.” We can make the case that since Sharon is also employed, their family has a bit more financial flexibility as a two-income household, but excessive spending would still be problematic, nonetheless. Also, unless there's a translation error or things have been too localized for us English readers, Sharon makes her husband's wasteful spending seem like a separate matter from his excuses with the word or, which begs the question of what else is there that he needs to make excuses for? An extramarital affair? Or perhaps it is all related and can be attributed to a gambling addiction? (Not that I'd judge him for the latter, since it's an addiction; still, though, it's obviously problematic and he'd need to work on it for the sake of his family.) 🧐 Regardless, carelessly spending your family's money is wrong on so many levels.

Millie’s new bf, who has no problem demeaning her interests. If he can't respect her interests, is he capable of respecting anything else pertaining to her? (Maybe I'm overthinking it, but this is just a massive red flag, imo.)

I can give Dominic a bit of a pass, since all of his on-panel moments have given me a generally favorable impression of him and, relatively speaking, tardiness at a date isn't as bad as what the other two men are doing. (Nonetheless, this is still an issue, and I've become wary of him.) For Millie and Sharon, though, I only have the following message:

Seriously, throw the whole man away.

To be clear, I still hold these women in very low esteem for their snake-like behavior towards Yor. (While it's admittedly cute that we're seeing them gradually befriending Yor, it doesn't change the fact that they only started being respectful towards her once they see that she's closer to conforming to their image of what a woman should be. Yor may have been closed off towards them before, but that's no excuse for their bullshit before. Sorry.) Still, I feel bad that they're clearly dealing with toxic relationships.

Also, I think it's interesting that this moment further plays into whatever commentary we've been seeing throughout the story about the nuclear family (in the biological sense) and gender politics.

OH MY GOD...! 😆 THIS CHAPTER...!!! 😍😍😍

This chapter was INSANELY FUN and had probably THE BIGGEST TEASE IN SPY X FAMILY HISTORY!! 😆 So let's talk about!! 😁

The moment I saw Camilla and Millie, I figured that this was probably gonna be a chapter about our girl Yor...!! 😆 And that got me super excited...!! 😁

After helping Camilla and Millie finish up their work, Sharon decides to invite Yor to have some some drinks with them...!! 😁 And when there's drinks, there's...:

THAT'S RIGHT, DRUNK YOR IS BACK Y'ALL!! 😆😆😆

And when there's a drunk Yor, there's gonna be some shenanigans a foot...!! 😖

So anyway, Millie and Camilla start asking Yor about how things are going at home with Loid and if she's done anything *kissy-kissy* with him... 😏 But Yor gets a little flustered about that and then they ask if she has problems with Loid...! 😌

Sharon, Millie and Camilla start sharing some their problems about their men and how they would "kill" them, which to our drunk little Thorn Princess to think this...:

I was like:

"OH MY GOODNESS YOR...!! 😆You are just so so so silly...!! 😖"

So to sound normal™ to her coworkers, Yor tries to come up with some issues she has with Loid:

They don't that's a good enough reason to "kill" him, but Yor insists that they fight all the time... Which led to THIS INSANITY...!!:

OH MY GOD ENDO!!! YOU'RE AN ABSOLUTE TEASE...!! 🤣

I did not expect Endo to do "Twilight Vs. Thorn Princess" in Mission 79 (as a joke), but here we are...!! 🤣😂🤣

Anyway, after Yor's WILD IMAGINATION about killing Loid, Camilla and the other girls tease Yor some more about her being kissed by Loid that when she got home and was greeted by him, well...:

She completely freaks out and faints, but Loid catches her...!!

I LOVE THIS PANEL SO MUCH!!! 😍💗😍💗😍

WHY ARE THEY SO CUTE!!? 😭

So because of Loid's quick thinking to catch his lovely wife, Yor freaks out again thinking he's gonna kiss her...!! But instead of kicking him out of the way like before (see Mission 35 for details), Yor instead does THIS:

And that was Mission 79, a super fun and funny chapter with some crazy stuff thrown into the mix...!! 😁 I just adored this chapter so much, it's probably a new favorite of mine and it's got me excited for what is next to come out this madman's (Endo's) mind...!! 😆

On a side note, I wanted to release this review a lot early today, but some personal stuff came up... And even though today hasn't been best for me, I still wanted to brighten someone else's day with this silly little review of mine, like what this chapter somewhat did for me today...! 😊

LOID DOING ALL THESE IN A "FAKE" MARRIAGE!

Someone should tell Loid that being too perfect can also be deem as suspicious 😂

But really, he doesn't have to do all these, it's not really necessary for his mission. He doesn't have to act like a good husband to Yor in private, like there's no one to show, their neighbors aren't around to nitpick every little thing he'll do, and Yor wouldn't complain if he do the bare minimum because she's fully aware that their marriage is fake. As for him being a good father, he has to act like a good father in front Yor so she doesn't suspect that he and anya aren't really blood related father and daughter, so I get that part, but his relationship with Yor, I understand that he has to act as a good citizen around her so she won't suspect a thing, but he can just do the bare minimum as her husband since they're not a real couple and they're not really married. At this point, I'm convinced that he's doing all of these because he genuinely enjoys it and he wants Yor and Anya to have an easy life and be happy while using the excuse that it's necessary for the mission.
