私たちの距離感はわりと近め。折角2DKの部屋を借りているのに、いつもダイニングのソファーでくっつき合っている。

彼女のスマホから最小音量で音楽が流れている。R&Bの音楽。全然詳しくないけど、モモカの影響で、なんとなくジャンルは分かるようになってきた。

「もうちょっと音量上げても良いよ」

「いや、大丈夫。これくらいがちょうど良いの」

モモカはいつもそう言う。それに対して私はいつも「そっか」としか返せない。

女2人の同居生活は始まってからもうそろそろ２年になる。

いくら仲が良いモモカとだからって、一緒に暮らすと衝突が起きると思っていた。でも、今のところ全く起きていない。モモカに無理させてないか？と、たまに探りを入れるけど、不満も何も出てこない。それどころか、

『ずっと一緒に住みたい』

なんて言い始める始末だ。さて、どうしたものか。

お互い20代も後半戦に差し掛かってきた。この後の人生の事もある。お互いに彼氏だって出来るかもしれない。でも、少なくとも私にはその気配が無いし、モモカからも男の気配を感じた事は無い。

やっぱり、先の事を話し合った方が、

「お昼にカナタが作ってくれたパスタ、本当に美味しかったな」

モモカはそう言ってニコニコとしていた。

私は何を言おうとしたか、全て吹っ飛んで、そしてチョークスリーパーを掛けた。

「ちょ、何すんの！」

「うるさい！」

私は空いている左手でモモカの髪をぐしゃぐしゃにして、それから拘束を解いた。

「はあ、もう！急に！」

「ごめん、なんかめっちゃ締めたくなって」

「意味分かんないよ……」

私はモモカのニコニコした顔も、引いている顔も、全て愛おしいと思っている。背中で感じる体温も、腕をさり気なく絡めて感じる鼓動も、その全てが。

私たちの距離感はわりと近め。寝る時と仕事の時だけ離れている。でも玄関から出て行く相手の姿は、扉が閉じるまで眺めている。

そんな感じ。
