Stiles gaped after Mrs. Brooks. Derek stood beside him, eyebrow raised. Stiles pulled out his phone, searching frantically. "You're not looking that up." Stiles typed away. "Fuck off, do you really think I can just- ignore that possibility?" Derek grimaced, scraping his fingers through the back of his hair. Stiles sputtered beside him. "Holy shit I found it! Oh my god, this was a bad idea, Derek, why didn't you stop me?"

In which Stiles hears some interesting information about his father's past career aspirations and proceeds to makes literally the worst decisions possible.

I've been thinking the past few days about how, after the scene in s2 where these huge chains fall from Stiles' locker, everyone in school thinks he's either in a gang or into some very deep BSDM, and there's like this tally that goes around where people annotate things they've heard him say and debate over why it points to one or the other.

I mean, someone will hear him say human sacrifices and they'll immediately go 'alright so this guy is roleplaying some very hardcore stuff', but then someone else will hear him say something like we gotta find the bodies and then it's like... maybe not roleplaying?

Werewolf? Depending on the context, it's a code word or the name of a rival gang (his gang??), or like some weird kink no one's sure they want to know much about.

Also, Derek Hale is definitely involved somehow, but this doesn't help clarify whether Stiles is in a gang or if he and Derek are just into some very kinky shit. There's a tally on that, too.

How Stiles Became Derek's Anchor by Being Annoying:

Alright hear me out: they're forced to interact through circumstance and Derek finds Stiles so obnoxious that he just can’t ignore him or his scent. It gets to the point where he just… smells it all the fucking time, even when Stiles isn't there. He'll be running errands and suddenly he catches a whiff of Stiles off his leather jacket and he’s so fucking done with it all. Then, as he slowly begins to trust Stiles, he starts automatically seeking it out. He can smell Stiles approaching from miles away and it becomes his focal point, because as annoying as it is, it also makes him feel safe.

Then by the time 3B rolls around, Derek’s the only one who can track Stiles's scent from memory alone. And Derek is just too embarrassed to explain that he can only do it because he accidentally Pavlov'ed himself into having the world's most annoying anchor lol.

The flesh of the throat is warm and tender, yielding to his fangs so easily it awakes a deep growl of satisfaction. The blood runs freely through his mouth, to his chin, his neck… a dense river of death that tastes like sweet revenge.

When the body stops twitching, Derek opens his mouth and lets Gerard fall to the forest floor, right next to Kate’s already decomposing remains.

The Hale land seems to breathe deeply and calmly, only the wind as a witness.

After a moment, soft footfalls approaching.

Stiles walks towards him, barely glancing at the corpses, baseball bat in hand. The chunks of flesh stuck to the thick nails in the bat start to get loose and drop to the floor with each step.

Slowly, he reaches Derek and steps right in front of him. His eyes are gleaming as he devours the sight of Derek.

Stiles grins almost tenderly as he approaches Derek’s face and reverently licks the blood from his chin to his mouth, ending with a bite to his lips.

“Darling… you have blood on your mouth…”

Derek crossed his arms. “‘We’? There is no ‘we’. This is my problem. Besides, I haven’t been to the beach since I was ten and that’s not changing anytime soon.”

“But it doesn’t have to be the ocean, does it?” mused Boyd. “There’s a lake nearby.”

Isaac snorted. “I think we’d know if there was some kraken-looking thing living in the lake.”

Stiles played with his bottom lip as he thought about the possibilities. “Mm…. Oh, I know!” he said with an inspired burst. “Maybe it’s some sort of experiment thing, like with the Dread Doctors. So it’s a tank of water, not a natural body of water.”

“Now that’s more plausible.” Derek glanced at Stiles and cocked an eyebrow. “I see you did learn something from the pre-FBI program.”

Stiles flashed a coquettish grin back that probably came out more show-offy than anything because he absolutely sucked at flirting—all he’d done since he’d come back home three days ago was get semi-annoyed glares and smacks on the back of the head.

A furrow creased in between Malia’s brows. “I’m confused. So basically, the new pack is conducting experiments on a sea monster in their secret lab that’s going to kill Derek?”

“Possibly,” said Kira.

“Probably,” muttered Isaac.

“Plausibly,” Stiles chimed in.

Allison let out a deep sigh. “Fantastic.”

Honestly, they may as well have just dumped Ian and Dylan in a pool together. They reprised one of the shippest moments in season 1!! What the heck!!

teen wolf really did that. they didn't even do it subtlety. they did not just one callback to wolf's bane but two specifically in reference to sterek.

the wall push and the cousin miguel bit are iconic moments and things that launched the tour de force of the ship. there was no way in hell that by season 4 they were unaware of what they were doing.

it wasn't just queerbait either. at least i don't believe so. this was a tip of the hat and wink to sterek fans. this was a hoechlin is leaving this season and we're giving you this. this was teen wolf doing what it always does and references it's own history because everything is a circle. this said derek and stiles are friends and derek likes to troll stiles.

and also using teen derek who was last seen in visionary was such a cue to highlight that kate groomed and preyed on him when he was a child. the last time the audience saw teen derek he was in high school and had just lost paige. they wanted us to remember that.

ian nelson also was just really great as teen derek and we got the iconic sheriff having a mental breakdown moment over it.

teen wolf was such a fever dream.

Derek Hale Died for Teen Wolf: the Movie’s Sins

I’m not the first to point out the narrative comparisons between Derek and Jesus Christ, but the allegory is even more on the nose now. He endured so much suffering at the hands of others and needlessly died a martyr like Jesus nailed to the crucifix. (And it’s not lost on me that he died for the ultimate sin of loving Stiles, another man.)

Just so that everyone could stand around at his funeral and speak in reverence about how tortured he was throughout his life; about how his suffering made him a virtuous man. Just so that his spirit can live on in the hearts of his loved ones, reminding them that he lived a mostly miserable and cruel life, and then died in the same way, for them.
