"Out The Window Into Penitentiary," Winnipeg Tribune. February 18, 1943. Page 11. ---- PLEADING guilty in county court today, on charges of breaking and entering and theft, two men were sentenced by Judge Cory to serve three years each in the penitentiary.

The men were Stanley Chaban, 878 Aberdeen ave., and Edward Haas, 524 Dufferin ave. They broke into the home of Charles Kirchgeusner, 606 Church ave.. Oct. 8, 1942, and stole rings valued at $70 and $8 cash.

In leaving the house, Chaban and Haas broke through a window and were cut by glass. Later they appeared at the home of Dr. Frank Rybak, 359 Selkirk ave., for treatment. When the doctor suggested hospitalization, they refused and warned him that if he informed police of their injuries they would take reprisals against him.
