Steve carries band aids in his car and he has a few all scrunched up in the pocket of his jeans too. Just in case Robin has one of her ‘klutzy birdy’ moments on the way to work or one of the kids wrestles with Eddie a little too hard and scrapes their knees.

Overheard, Dustin on the phone:
Dustin: "I can't tonight. I'm grounded ... Steve said so ... Okay, fine, I'll ask."
Dustin, holding the phone away from his ear to shout: “Hey Steeeeeve? Can I go out tonight?”
Steve, yelling from the kitchen: "Nice try, Henderson. Not a chance.”
Dustin, sighing: "Sorry, Mom. Steve says I can't go home for dinner."

I want a fic where Steve’s parents are home (for once) after the upside down and Eddie is alive (bc steddie for life lol). I want Steve to have nightmares and for Eddie to be one of the few ppl (him and robs and maybe Dustin if he’s around but he isn’t so he doesn’t know yet or whatever) and robs and ed take turns sleeping over or just having slumber parties cuz they know they can rely on each other(nance, John, sometimes argyle join in when they start to get bad but they usually do their own slumber parties) and it’s Eddie’s turn to make sure Steve is okay (robin is at family gathering). And I just want the parents to be like, yknow suburban stereotype “why are you here” and shit like that being rude (Steve assured them not to worry and finally convinces them to let Eddie stay as long as he’s in the spare). Night falls and Steve is anxious to sleep alone (robs cuddles the touch starved Steve PLATONICALLY SOULMATES to sleep… it’s also for her comfort whilst Eddie sleeps on the floor right by the bed) but he finally starts to nod off and he’s sleeping, but bc of the anxious lay down and such his nightmare is bad, just like the rest, he wakes up screaming and thrashing through his panic attack after the nightmare, grabs the nail bat that’s hidden by his bed (ed and robs try to have Steve keep it away but it’s one of his comforts that he can’t let go of) and holds it defensively whilst still laying down as his legs are too weak and shaky to stand. His parents rush in his dad pissed of and angry thinking Steve’s just acting like a toddler screaming at him until he walks in and notices Steve with said bat shocked, his mother slightly irritated but worried and even more so when she notices how defensive and desperate Steve looks. Eddie rushes in and Steve’s dad tries to push him out until he hears Steve crying out for Eddie or robin, mumbling about them being dead or smth related to the dream so Eddie finally pushes through(or slips through) and ties his hair up to uncover his face(Steve once thought Eddie was from the upside down one time bc he couldn’t see his face, Eddie suggested just cutting it off but rob and Steve argued and stood their ground about his hair so now he just toes it up) and calms Steve down. His parents are confused and just leave it for when morning comes, but then they realize both Steve and Eddie couldn’t sleep afterward and stayed up the rest of the night. Leading to Steve’s parents wonder what happened while they were never home and throughout the week they realize that ed, robin(it was an overnight family trip, she was back the next day) and Steve need to be near each other, that if they aren’t they jump at any small sound, blinking light, or shadow. Also down the road of the confusing week a bunch of children come by and jokingly all tease Steve by calling him ‘mom’ and they realize Steve does his mothers hand to hip stance. That these people need each other and decide to stay longer to see whats happening. His dad mumbles under his breath about how Steve should be with “his kind” and his mom slaps him upside the head whilst telling him to shut it and look how happy their boy is. It’s not a forced smile, awkward laughs and such. It’s genuine care for everyone when a bunch of random teens and kids come in, HECK! They’re scared for a minute when CHIEF HOPPER knocks on the door thinking their boy is in trouble until they notice he’s not in gear and is holding a hot plate of food as well as Joyce telling him to hurry bc the food is getting cold followed by the Byers kids and some random girl that oddly looks like will but also someone they don’t know (and they know EVERYONE in town)…
Ples? Pretty ples? Not all of it just Steve has nightmare parents try to calm him but ultimately fail and Eddie calms him almost immediately offering to call someone named Robin or smth

there is something intrinsically wicked about aging and getting older than fictional characters you look up to

Will I get bashed for this? Maybe. But it needs to be said.
I don't care what your excuse for it is, if you wrote smut about ANY of the kids in stranger things pre s3 & 4 I feel unsafe around you.
So what if you aged up the characters? The fact you even wanted to write smut about them in the first place is vile.
They were 11 and 12. Make them 57 years old, it dosent change the fact you watched a show with little kids and decided to write sexually explicit works on them. And then fucking published it.
Plain wrong.
Also, majority of the people writing these fanfics are late teenagers/adults. Grown people. I'm gonna be sick.

headcanons for how the younger kids would react to you asking them thier pronouns?
Asking The Younger Stranger Things Kids For Their Pronouns
Tumblr media
Mike Wheeler:
He would be slightly confused and you may have to explain the concept to him a bit.
Season 1 + 2 Mike would be easier to ask than season 3 + 4 Mike. Younger Mike would be totally cool with learning more and he would listen intently to everything you said. Older Mike would be more annoyed, wanting to get the conversation over with as fast as possible so he could go talk to El.
His pronouns are “He/Him” and he’s pretty comfortable with them for now. Later on, he decides to use “He/They/Him”
Tumblr media
Eleven Hopper:
You definitely would have to explain the concepts of pronouns to her, but she would listen to every word you said with an air of seriousness.
She’s super excited to decide her pronouns !! After every thing she’s gone through, her identity is very important to her and she takes it incredibly seriously. She would take a while to decide which pronouns she wants to use, trying them all out.
She eventually chooses “She/Her” however she’s also partial to “She/They”
Tumblr media
Max Mayfield:
She totally already knows about pronouns and is very confident in her identity.
She gets excited when you ask, immediately telling you how she identifies and asking for your pronouns in return. It would probably turn into a long conversation about sexuality and gender identity and if she’s comfortable, Max would open up to you about how she feels regarding her sexuality.
Her pronouns are “She/They” although she doesn’t mind when people use “She/Her”
Tumblr media
Lucas Sinclair:
He’s totally had the pronoun conversation with Max before, so he’s prepared to answer any questions you may have.
He never really questioned his pronouns and was pretty confident in them. However, as he gets older, he begins to question a little more and tries out a couple different options.
He uses “He/Him” pronouns for now, but also dabbles in “He/They” and “They/Them”
Tumblr media
Will Byers:
While coming to terms with his sexuality, Will also debated on his pronouns for a while.
He doesn’t tell a lot of people (really he only mentions it if someone asks) so he tends to go by “He/Him” more frequently than he would like to. He’s okay with it, but he does try to get up the nerve to tell others about his choice of pronouns.
He doesn’t mind using “He/Him” but he’d really prefers “They/Them” or even “He/They”
Tumblr media
Dustin Henderson:
I feel like Eddie really introduced Dustin to the world of pronouns (Eddie uses “They/Them” or “Ze/Zir” and happily answered any questions Dustin had).
Dustin asked a lot of questions, however he never really questioned his own gender identity. He’s very respectful and absolutely does his best to use everyone’s preferred pronouns.
Dustin uses “He/Him” pronouns !!

90’s stranger kids (stranger young adults), because after the gates are all destroyed and el’s powers fade and the chasms are cottoned over with concrete and the dead are dead and the living still living, that’s when they all unravel. this group of people will have severe trauma and trauma responses for the rest of their lives. and they’ll keep each other sane, and safe, but….
it’s like the post that used to circulate on tumblr about being traumatized and finally arriving to a safe place and time in your life, and your emotional coil of trauma just unspools. what if, because they know they’re safe, all of them have worse nightmares?
i’m prone to jump to the conclusion that a loved one has died or gotten into an accident when i can’t reach them for more than a couple of hours. imagine what it’s like for your brain to tell you that as soon as someone is out of your sight, they’ve been taken by the government or attacked by a monster you swear you put in the ground years ago. or your every sense dialed to ten when someone so much as closes the front door too loudly.
they saved the world, each other, themselves. but it cost them, dearly. this is a very old story. there is no other version of this story

idc if it’s “unrealistic” I want stranger things to end, I want ALL of the monsters & the upside defeated, by the power of friendship and love and acceptance. I want a couple of scrawny nerds to face down the big bad everything with stupid little grins and their D&D fantasy game logic and save the world TOGETHER !!

She was cold when she came back to herself . She sensed that she had been cold for quite some time, at least if her stiff-armed self-embrace had a story to tell. She was shivering deeply, every muscle getting in on the action, and her nose and cheeks were completely numb. How long had she been out here, anyway? Had she fallen asleep?
With the sudden consciousness of her surroundings came another, sharper sensation—fear. It was pure, overwhelming, forming ice out of the blood in her veins and doing nothing to ease her bone-deep chill.
Alone. She was alone. She was alone in the dark. She was alone in the dark in the woods.
She might as well have been back There. That’s how vulnerable she was, had made herself. She remembered now, walking eyes wide open into these woods, fists and teeth clenched and heart hammering. It was her penance and her test. Both to punish herself for being so scared all the time and to see if she had it in her, anymore, to be anything else. It was time for her to face it, to show herself and them and him and the whole fucking world that Maxine Mayfield was no coward. That she could sit alone in the dark in the woods and face the unspeakable horrors that had taken up permanent residence in her head, every minute of every hour of every day.
Standing up was harder than it should have been. Her muscles had stiffened up considerably, and her legs wobbled with the force of the full-body trembling she had no power over. Her foot kicked an object and she looked down at the forest floor to see her walkie-talkie tumbling down a small hill. It came to rest next to a rock.
It was off. Of course it was. She had turned it off in her quest to prove all the things to all the people, and in her gradually clearing state of mind she could see the many flaws of that logic. They would have missed her by now, compared notes and found out that she was missing, freaked out and gone looking when she didn’t answer their fretful calls. It was an unbreakable rule now, in the after. Walkies on, always. Calls answered, immediately. No exceptions. And that was only in the now-rare times when they weren’t physically together, clinging to one another like the lost children they so essentially were.
“Idiot,” she chastised herself, picking her way carefully over to the hunk of plastic and bending stiffly to retrieve it. Taking a deep breath, she clicked it on, pressing the button to speak.
“Come in ,” she said in a hoarse voice that didn’t even sound like it belonged to her, “Is anyone there?”
There was barely even a pause. “Where are you, Max?”
Steve. Max’s eyes filled with tears, which definitely didn’t make her feel like the badass she had envisioned walking back out of these dark woods after facing down her demons and reclaiming her mojo. “I don’t know,” she replied, and her voice was small.
“Are you hurt?” His response was sharp, no-nonsense. Babysitter mode activated.
“I’m in the woods, Steve, I … I don’t know where.”
“It’s all right, I’m going to find you. Can you tell which direction the road is? Can you see any light?”
She paused, turning in a half circle before her eyes made out a vaguely less dark darkness in the distance. It would do, she decided, and she nodded as if he could see her.
“Max.” Steve’s voice came through again , gentle but urgent. “If you can tell which way the road is, start walking that direction, okay? When you get there, just stay put. I’m on my way. You hear me?”
“Yeah. I’m walking that way, I think. Toward the road.”
“Good. That’s my girl. Stop when you get there, all right?” he repeated.
“Steve?”
“What?”
“I’m really scared.”
There was a long pause this time, the crunch of Max’s feet through the dried leaves of the forest floor and the distant rumble of Steve’s car engine the only sounds that penetrated. Then she heard Steve take a deep breath before saying, “I’m not going to let anything happen to you, Max. You know that, right?”
She sniffed, swallowed back tears. She would not cry. She had made some major errors in judgment tonight, and she would not allow herself the luxury of tears.
Steve kept up a steady monologue of calm encouragement as she made her painfully slow way through the tangles of trees and roots, low-hanging branches and gnarled brambles snagging her hair and scratching her face. At last she stumbled onto the hard-packed pavement, tripping and almost hitting her knees.
“I’m here,” she said into the walkie that was clutched in a death grip in her hand. “I’m at the road. Can you find me?”
“Stay where you are,” Steve commanded. “I’ll be there in one minute.”
And somehow, miraculously, he was. She saw the headlights and fought the urge to duck back into the trees, an ice pick of fear slicing straight through her before she recognized the grille of Steve’s car as he slowed to a stop. He kept the engine running as he bolted from the driver’s seat. He reached her in three long strides, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her into an embrace that was too tight to be comfortable but at the same time not tight enough. His lips crushed against the top of her head and his words were muffled but fierce: “Jesus, Max. Don’t you ever disappear on us like that again, you got it? Never.”
As she clung to him — in the dark , by the woods, but no longer alone — she began to cry.

Post Season 4 Stranger Things Headcannon: Following the events with Vecna, all the members of the party + the teens make a list of their respective favorite songs and then Jonathan makes every member of said group a mixtape with all of those songs on it (each person's favorite song preferably first). They label the mix tapes "Counter Curse", and everyone is to keep their copy on them at all times. That way, on the off chance anything like Vecna were to ever happen again, everyone has the capability of pulling out a Counter Curse mixtape to play if anyone is in danger.
