Character analysis on Streber!

Introduction/disclaimer

So the new Spooky month short has been graced upon us and with that we got the offical characterization of Streber, despite the short only being about a minute long we can still get an idea of his personality and even his interests.

Now because he has only showed up for this short and for only a very small bit in the actual Spooky Month series some of this may lean more towards headcanon and some assumptions based on how Sr Pelo writes his existing characters, which I hope doesn't bother y'all too much.

Also I tend to be bad at spelling and with grammar so please correct me if I mess up-

Now, let's get started...

Section one: Passions of an artist

What's the first thing we notice about Streber in both his initial appearance and from the short? Well his enthusiasm and the obvious joy he takes in his role as a "real vampire". Streber clearly is having fun in his role, smiling and laughing with his actor friends, playing this character for kids and the immersion was number one on his priority in the short, even in Tender Treats he's seen laughing with Skid and Pump and going all in on the exaggerated movements, he takes joy in his job, even going above and beyond with his work. Even when Ethan jokes that this isn't a big deal Streber immediately retorts, light heartedly obviously, but he still takes this very seriously. Why does he do all this? Well, he's an artist, an innovator, someone who takes that extra step. Streber's talent in inventing and acting is an artist job, acting is an obviously one but inventing from a far doesn't seem like an artist job, due to it difficult and sciencey nature, but the desire to create something is art, and that's what Streber wants to make, the artist will create for the happiness of himself and others.

Him being so smart probably helps his creativity in being an artist, which leads into...

Section 2: Streber and his...Streber-ness

Streber's name means "nerd" in German which was most definitely intentional, Sr Pelo has a pattern of giving characters sorta obvious names in relation to their personalities and or physical trait they have. Now does Streber live up to his name? Oh absolutely, he was the inventor of the green screen mirror as seen in Tender Treats, all created as to keep the children immersed in his "real vampire" persona. On the wall we see ideas and blueprints, along with him having the typical "nerdy" attitude that's elevated by high confidence. Inventing is an obvious interest of his which helps Streber be able to create works to make others and himself happy, while it's a slow process he gets joy from it, he may be neurodivergent? He seems very fixated on his work, which is a good thing but it makes a mixed trait of his show alot...

Section 3: Stubborn as- a vampire?

Stubbornness is a very 50/50 trait to have, it either works in your favor or it doesn't, we cannot with confidence which exact role Streber falls into but I believe it works more in his favor than doesn't mostly due to his positive attitude, but that's just an assumption, what's not an assumption is that yes, Streber is very goal minded and won't stop until it's achieved, considering he spent all day working on his invention and wasn't stopping until done, even when told it wasn't a big deal, he still carried on, passion and stubborn is a powerful combo, which will likely effect how Streber will act after losing an arm, he doesn't seem like he's not going to give up so easily.

Final section: The optimists struggle

Despite his cold demeanor near the end, it's not due to him being genuinely upset, he's just an optimist, having confidence in his abilities and a positive look on the future. He refuses to be let down about his invention, in his mind it's going to work out, and he wasn't wrong, the invention did work. Streber is not brought down by negative emotions, he's stressed but clearly still enthusiastic about his green screen mirror, his stubbornness and optimism are pulling him through and likely this is how he's going to pull himself in most situations, is it reckless? Yes. Absolutely, even if he's not running straight into danger he's still a reckless, which is powered by his optimism and furthered by stubbornness.

Hence why he's the "Stubborn optimist"

I hope you enjoyed this! Sorry if this was a little bit too headcanon-y or seemed like a stretch but Streber just makes me very happy!

As for Streber's role in the story? He could be a huge help in taking down the cult due to his big brain and the fact that he was effected by them due to Bob.

Also tldr; Streber is an reckless artist fueled by his own optimism and inability to back down.

The lasting Streber redraws I have

For right now

Tumblrs stupid so part of his body and head is cut off until you click on it , that also happened to the last one . But I’m running on slow sleep and it’s almost 4:30 so I don’t care that much

I have so so many thoughts after the short oh my gosh

Bob in the thumbnail honestly works really well in that we only know Streber as defined by Bob- Bob's episode, his interaction, his victim. The short doesn't have to have Bob present to make him unable to be divorced from Streber's fate. A looming silhouette to the viewer, a red flag of death, that the characters cannot see or stop until the worst has happened.

This is us seeing the last memory all of these friends have of being happy and together before the attack, and things can never be the same again. And honestly I love the established reminder of the future the thumbnail gives anyone who might have denial:

This was the last moment Streber was whole, don't forget what awaits him as they all get ready, are so happy, remember how it will end.

OH I DO!!!

...even though i suck remembering their names. ok so, i know most of them but i forgot the marge one and i'm unsure about the wolf. i saw that it was diego, but still, i'm not sure

i'll call him like that (+ the frankinsin's bride as aria) but if i'm wrong pls tell me so i can edit the post!!

also, i made the headcanons based on their interactions, but i'll do each one in different posts if requested.

Headcanons: Hauntiest House Gang!

Ethan is definitely the brat of the house

His favorite hobby is to annoy his friends somehow because their reaction is always absolutely hilarious

Well, except for Liv, she's the most fun one there and will annoy other with him play along

Streber and Leon are his main victims

Meanwhile, Diego is just... standing there

Nothing bothers that man, he's just so chill and so friendly

Streber is kinda the opposite tho, depending on what he's doing he'll TOTALLY get annoyed

"Oh my f-" *sighs* "Can you stop doing that?" "Doing what? I'm not doing anything! Oh, I'm not touching you!~" "...I hate you."

He never means it.

Y'know Kenny from South Park? Confi is basically him

They'll stay quiet and when you least notice they'll mumble the most random and cursed thing you'll hear all day

"Yeah and then when we came back-" "Guys did you knew that Fanta is like a naz-" "Confi please, not again!"

Aria is the most responsible one between them and everyone agreeded to call her Mom

She didn't got angry tho, she likes them a lot

The one who takes it most seriously is Liv

Liv's parents can't support her childish behaviour but Aria absolutely loves it

ANYWAYS

Diego and Leon get along very well, even better than Streber and Ethan

And they literally got to the point to match costumes-

They definitely work out together and Diego still can't accept how hidden Leon's muscles are even though he's SUPER strong

Streber was the one who got practically everything for the haunted house

"Woah, it's impressive! But... how you didn't got poor yet?" "I got my ways!~"

And some angst to end with some sadness:

Streber abandoned the haunted house after the incident. Yup, he quit

The way everything happened was just so traumatizing that he's scared even to leave on Halloween

With that, Ethan turned into the new owner of the haunted house

He went NIGHTS without sleeping because... well, Streber is smart and he's dumb, but he still needed to create new things to entertain children

And when the mirror broke? God, what headache

He could've just asked Streber to explain things, but just like the others Ethan didn't wanted to bother him and even less after such trauma

"Ethan, please, you need some sleep... why don't you try to fix it tomorrow?" "Yeah dude, look at you. Wait, where's your sock?" "Let's go already, we can... watch a movie if you like! Isn't it easier for you to fall aslee-" "No. Streber worked hard on this. I'll fix it as soon as possible."

And then the all of them decided to start helping him aswell <3

STREBER X ETHAN HEADCANONS

Yes, I like this ship, mainly because of the new Streber’s short. Do I know its name? Absolutely not, but I love it so much and I think their dynamic can be so fun yet so adorable---

NORMAL HC’S

- Streber is the most gay person when it comes to Ethan’s appearance because oh. God. This man find every single part of him just so PERFECT, he can’t even describe.

- And of course, when an artist sees a beautiful person, they feel the urge to draw them. That’s basically canon, Streber made a doodle of him

- Ethan is the most loveable yet most annoying boyfriend you could ever imagine.

- Streber sometimes gets too excited with his love for vampires and stuff and Ethan can’t help but tease him about it, like when he did with Streber’s new mirror.

- Ethan: Honey, sweetheart, love, sweetie, babe, darling... Streber: Ethan, babe.  Don’t blame him, the poor guy don’t know how to create cute nicknames NFSKJFD-

- They LOVE cuddling and do it whenever they have the chance, and despite Streber being smaller, he loves being the big spoon.

- Ethan also loves being the small spoon so it’s a big consent

- When Streber is in a good mood he can’t stop stimming and makes sure to infodump literally anything to Ethan, and Ethan himself loves listening.

- Nerd who talks a lot X Dumbness in person who listens carefully vibes.

- Their “coincidence” of being both vampires is actually the fact that they planned to have matching costumes.

TICKLE HC’S

- THEY’RE BOTH BIG SWITCH JERKS!!!!

- Even though Ethan is more ticklish, he has this weird ability of suddenly simply not being ticklish and it sometimes pisses Streber off because he’s never prepared.

- At the start of the relationship Ethan was a big ler, and used to tickle Streber whenever he had the chance.

- Streber liked it? Maybe. Just maybe...

- Now that they’re completely close Ethan lost his ability with Streber and can get absolutely WRECKED.

- “I remember someone tickling me to pieces in the past...” and Ethan just listens wondering if he should be scared or excited.

- Big tickle war.

- Self-insert? No no, I hate it!!! But what if Ethan is actually in the tickle community and wrecked Streber on purpose to be tickled back..........

- Streber pretends to be a vampire and begins “sucking his blood” when they’re doing nothing together; Ethan is just a whole giggle mess.

- Their friends sometimes help one of them to tickle the other.

- Even if they get too tired, the aftercare is always worth it :)
