. . Wayne “Skip” Price , Roxbury, Ma Dudley,Sq where the now defunct elevated Orange line subway trains rode over head on Steal girders and wood for many years darkening the streets below. Cars burned out and stripped would sit on the sidewalks for days. Cleaned up but still notorious for violence and drug addicted. Dudley square is trying to come back and is much safer than its darker days. The orange like has moved into a lowered corridor. . . My first time in Dudley Sq. was not long after my Dad passed away. It was 1984-85. I was 11 and obsessed with Breakdancing, hip-hop. ( not the bullshit you hear these days ) I met Elias & Willie. Elias was the most Puerto Rican I had ever seen like how I imagined Cyprus Hill would look when you only knew their voices. Willie was a quiet Dominican dude. I would hang out near The old now torn down Orchid Park Projects one of the most dangerous areas in all of Boston. I was white and 11. They got my radio first, then my sneakers. Not by robbing me they would just say “ hey dude don’t allow radios in the store” and when I came out they were gone and when I got to their house no one had sneakers on and they would be like we all got jumped.. at least I wasn’t murdered. Did I mention I was 11?? Take a hard look at Bryan’s arms. Romeo might have been the most interesting person I had the pleasure of shooting today. He said a lot here’s some of the stuff I remember. He was in a group called “ Mad Dog and the Pups” they’re really amazing Mo-Town stuff “ hip Squeeze” on @youtube is so good. 
He an O.G Black Panther. He’s 70 and still has a voice. He was really close with Marvin Gaye, Sammy Davis Jr and many others🤞🏿like that. I believe him I have no reason not to. He didn’t want to do the photo at first but as the hours wore on he struck up this great conversation with me. He has seen a lot in his 70 years. He really got into shooting a portrait with me and I was fascinated by his playful personality.
He wanted to know when I was coming back again, and although I have no plans I think I’ll go back just to catch up with him again. Cheers Romeo, They don’t make them like you anymore.

Today I made my way to the heart of Roxbury. Dudley Sq. in the city of Boston.
I set up my studio equipment on the sidewalk and asked people passing by if they would like their photo taken. For those who don’t know BOston this isn’t the best neighborhood to hang out in. In fact my 200$ vaporizer was stolen before I left..

Super lucky that the only thing that was taken was my Vape. Dudley has come always since the old school days. When I was 11 and hang out here my duel cassette radio was stolen, my sneakers and played a game of dominos that ended with a gun being put on a table. Did I mention I was 11 ! There’s still a lot of drug addicts and homeless folks. Don’t get me wrong it’s not all bad. Just watch out for the Kleptos…

This is Bryan. Bryan had his dark sunglasses on and big headphones on, walked with a cane. After a few shots with the sunglasses and headphones, I was able to talk him into shooting with out the sunglasses and headphones. I really connect with this image. Thank you Bryan.
