⠀݃⠀ ✣ ⠀۪⠀ ⠀VELVETINE is a fictional girl group formed and managed by SUPERBLOOM MEDIA under the creative direction of soloist Kim Yuchan in 2021. This would be Yuchan's first venture since joining Superbloom's Board of Directors and all eyes would be on Velvetine considering his fame. The trainees would be introduced through the documentary series THE GIBSON GIRL PROJECT, where they were selected through monthly evaluations over the course of ten months. Originally, Velvetine was supposed to debut with TEN members, however, four trainees would "leave" Superbloom just before debut under mysterious circumstances. The final lineup would be composed of six members: LIYA, COELLA, GENESIS, MIARI, YUEL, and NOA.

⠀݃⠀ ✣ ⠀۪⠀ THE GIBSON GIRL PROJECT was named after Charles Dana Gibson artistic personification of the Gibson Girl—or the feminine ideal of physical attractiveness during the 20th century. They chose this name to highlight Velvetine's future concept, which is often labeled as classic or fragile, and used it to describe the perfect trainee that would debut as a member of this group. Through the documentary series, the original thirty-trainees would be placed into THREE tiers based on their skill level and the highest ranking trainee each month would be chosen for the debut lineup. The process began with COELLA being chosen first and ended with GENESIS, though BLAIR, EVA, MARI, and KYRIE would rank highly compared to the members that actually debuted. On December 21, 2020, Superbloom Media would confirm that the four girls would "go their separate ways" with the company, however, many of their family members have stated that they have not seen their daughters since 2019 and MARI'S family filed a missing persons report in late 2023.

Their first hit was GIRLS NEVER DIE, released in summer 2022, and slowly marked a conceptual shift from focusing on girlhood and the beauties of life to something more sinister and focused on becoming the best. Since then, many have described VELVETINE themselves unapproachable, often seen keeping to themselves at award shows and not having any idol friends outside of each other, and have ritualistic tendencies, making them prime targets for video essays and think pieces on the idol industry.

Hi,

I’ve been making a weekly podcast with other SKE fans. The goal is to round up all news and theatre shows in a week, and to then discuss a topic. So far we’ve talked about Team S and KII, and the Unit Battle concert.

Let me introduce the people on the show so it makes it easier to dive in and know who’s who:

Yuna looks from face to face, eyes wide lip trembling. He was broken, all the stares on him and the guilt. It was too much for him. "I'm sorry," He wimpers, pushing his sunglasses up to his forehead, sniffling, "I'm sorry.." he repeats. He trails off, head down rubbing at his damp eyes with the back of his hand

"SORRY THAT YOU DUMBASSES TOOK THIS FUCKING LONG TO GET A GRIP!" He shouts, looking up with a venomous grin on his face. His usual chipper smile was gone, instead something more akin to a snarl taking his face. He rips off his hairtie.  Yuna's loud sentance was followed by a bout of laughter, a harsh, cold and cruel sound that flooded through the trial air. 

"Gemini didn't fucking attack me. I called him a bitch and we made out. Fighting's just foreplay for winners, babe. Fact check that shit." He snickers, "Waste of oxygen you clowns are. Did it seriously take three corpses for you idiots to get your heads out of your asses long enough to suspect that something might be fucky?" He lands forward on his podium, sharp eyes staring at each individual person there, "I can keep going. I would have kept going. Test all your immune systems and see how much cyanide I can jam in there."

"You cowards just want to bitch and whine, and it's so. FUCKING. PATHETIC!" He annunciations each word with a hand slam down on the podium, "You all are so desperate to believe that in this world there's someone out there forgiving enough to sit through your teenage angst bullshit without a bat of the eye, that you'll believe a man wearing a side-fucking ponytail who says his last name is GREENE."

"Well I'm Yuna fucking Sugiyama, SHSL Doomsdayer. And I'm the greatest bitch this planet ever shat out."

Yuna lets out a whimper at seeing Hinata's portrait in the trial room. A lot of thoughts and emotions mix into each other in her head. She honestly feels like she's going to pass out at any moment. But figuring out Hinata's killer takes top priority. So after giving her cheeks a light slap, Yuna tries to get her head in the game. As much as she could anyway.

Hearing what Hikaru has to say makes her nod in agreement.

"Yeah......... There's not........ A lot to go off of................. Compared to Sugiyama-san's death."

Well that brings back some bad memories of the last trial. Yuna gets of those memories though and thinks back to the other pieces of evidence she had found.

"Um........... There were............. A few things....... I found......... Outside of the...... pool room. I went into......... The staff room............ And in the trash........ Can was a bloody............. 11 lbs dumbbell. I have.......... A feeling that......... it's probably...... the.......... murder weapon. I don't really........ See what........ Other kind of....... Relevance it could have."

Then there's the other evidence she found.

"There was also......... a trail of water from the............ pool room to the......... Gym. Which........... I think.............. Supports Kakimasu-san's..... Theory of Shinohara-san........ She looks over at Jin when she asks her questions. Hoping that maybe he also found something to help them out.

If Yuna goes by the fact that 3 people have asked for her to go more indepth in regards to the period of time she spent with the deceased critic. The newly directed attention at her causes Yuna to freeze up. She's never had this much attention directed at her in real life before. At least when Yuna makes her videos she's just staring at a camera.

But the feeling of her shawl brings herself back to reality and Yuna knows she needs to speak up and answer their questions. Otherwise the discussion wouldn't be going anywhere.

First, Keizo:

"Yes, you........ Heard me correctly. I was heading...... To the.......... Library to check out...... A book. On....... The way there I...... Ran into Sugiyama-san. After hearing that........ He was also heading..... To the library, we..... Decided we'd go...... Together."

And lastly, Naruki:

"We split....... up.......... But we didn't...... Plan on it being..... For long. Seeing that it....... Was getting late, we chose........ To make our exit from...... The library. But I wanted to....... Put the book......... I was skimming through during....... Our visit back. So Sugiyama-san...... Opted to go....... Wait by the entrance. It...... Took a bit for me......... To remember where I had...... Gotten the book... from. However..... By the time........ I got...... To the library entrance. He was....... Dead."

Tears threaten to spill out of her eyes but Yuna is quick to wipe them away. She lets out a sniffle as well, before glancing over to Hikaru.

"I'm sorry...... There isn't more to........ Gleam from......... That. Other than the......... Aforementioned....... clattering sound. Nothing else......... Out of the.... Ordinary happened..... Before he died."

The Cosmic Turnabout ⭐ Yuna ⭐ Trial 1.1 ⭐ Re: Hikaru, Jin

When the investigation period started it really made Yuna comprehend how out of her depth she was. The entire time she felt like she was about to throw up. And the fact that she was the one who discovered Goro’s body didn’t help matters. Which really felt cruel of fate to do to her. In no time though it ended and all of them moved to the trial room to figure out who the killer was. Shifting around quietly, a grimace permeates Yuna’s face as the trial for Goro Sugiyama begins.

Yuna whimpers to herself when looking at Goro and Kyoji’s portraits. It felt like their deaths were being treated like one big joke. They deserved a  proper burial – not two portraits with their faces grayed out and red Xs  painted on top of them like some kind of art project gone wrong.

Tugging on her shawl, she listens intently as the others start discussing the murder. Yuna doesn’t really have anything to add at the moment so she keeps to herself.

Not wanting to completely waste her time – Yuna takes a moment to check over the evidence the others had found. Although hearing that she was apparently on Hikaru’s list of suspects causes her to momentarily stop in shock. Even if he just said she isn’t on it anymore.

“Y-You thought…… I could be…….. The M-Murderer?”

It comes out as more of a whisper but Naruki and Cris definitely heard her. Which she’s honestly thankful for. She didn’t want to start anything right now when there were more important things to deal with.

But the fact that he still had a list of suspects didn’t ease her either. Yuna still couldn’t believe one of her fellow classmates could kill. The thought of one of them doing the deed just wasn’t something she could comprehend. But Yuna knew better than to let her emotions override the truth. She had to be strong for Goro.

So finally wanting to be of use, Yuna turns her attention back to the strand of black hair.

“To those of you who………… looked closely at……. The strand of……. Black hair. Do you remember how long…….. It was? That could……. Really help narrow down………….. The list of…….. Suspects even more.”

Saying that makes a small smile appear on her face. Proud of herself for being able to be of some use to the discussion. And there was something else Yuna could think of adding.

“Something I was…….. Thinking about….. Was right before Sugiyama-san……….. Died. Around… 9:30 pm, we were both……….. In the…… Library when we………. Something clatter to the…….. Ground. It came from……. The fishing rod section……… But we found nothing there. This probably………. Sounds dumb but….. I was thinking that maybe……… The killer was there……. Setting…………… Everything up?”

She doesn’t know if she’s onto something with that line of thinking, but Yuna really hopes so. But if she was right, the implications behind it unsettle her to her core.

“Maybe that’s all you know about the case, Kakimasu. At least I don’t pretend like I can speak for everyone.”

So this is how it’s gonna be today? Yeah. Yeah, of course it is.

“If you would consider the trail of water, you could have already dismissed your own uncertainty. If you posit that the culprit used the towels to dry off, then that trail shouldn’t exist. They would not have had any reason to go from the pool to the gym. Furthermore, there are no means by which someone could get that wet in the gymnasium, and move to the pool. Not even Ito, Castillo-Mishra, or the late Shinohara could get that disgustingly sweaty. Yet that trail still exists.”

The price of his vague willingness to cooperate is putting up with this shit. It might almost be more worthwhile if he kept his mouth shut. And... well, even if it is Yuna, he can't help but feel a bit smug that she asked him, specifically, to share his knowledge.

“As a matter of fact, Saito, I did. There were several pieces of equipment laying out - specifically, some mats and weight lifting equipment. Here is my proposition - one that I believe you will find leaves much less room for doubt. Shinohara was killed in the gymnasium. This would coincide with the presumed weapon, and with the state of the gym itself.

“If you’ll remember how it looked when Sugiyama died, there was a non-negligible amount of splatter. There was no such apparent splatter that we were able to find in this instance, but there was a red tinge to the water in the pool. If we presume that Shinohara’s body was transported from one room to another, it would more likely than not leave traces after the fact. And if our culprit went to all the effort to dump the body in a different room, they would presumably try to wash away any lingering blood.”

I have just enough restraint to not make this actual dialogue but not enough to leave it out: by the existence of this trail of water, this level of reasoning is possible for Jin Saishu. What do you think, everyone?

Keep It Short(er) This Time | Jin | Trial 1-4 | RE: Keizo, Akash, Hikaru

He just. Stares at Keizo for a moment, contemplating whether or not he should even dignify that with a response. Truly, the sickest of owns. The most brutal of burns. Really got him good with that one.

“Are you done wasting your breath yet? I almost have to pity you.”

Enough of a response to serve as an acknowledgement that he wasn't just ignoring Keizo, not enough of one to indicate that he cared in the slightest. There were more important things to focus on now that the suspects had been narrowed down to two, and frankly, he wasn’t about to back down from the clear suspicion he was casting on Akash.

“Sure, you could have been. However, modesty isn’t going to cut it as an excuse right now. If you want to convince me that it wasn’t you, you’re going to have to try a little harder than that.”

“Your argument currently amounts to ‘I know everything points to me, but I didn't do it.' Did you not once claim that you possess all the qualifications you listed as requirements to be able to construct that trap, even with your apparent disdain for it? I wouldn’t be surprised if you made use of those skills one last time for the sake of freeing yourself from them for good.”

“Ayanokouji’s defense isn’t much better, but she does at least raise a halfway decent point. Her outfit would likely be detrimental if she were trying to climb the statue like that. Too likely that it would get caught on any of the sculpture’s protrusions. Of course, as she said herself, the possibility that she changed clothes still exists. As a street medic, I’d even be willing to believe that she could improvise a trap if she really wanted to.”

“However, even if she’s less qualified than someone with a certified place of practice, I would expect more of an attempt at obfuscating the cause of death from her. Would it not have been more to her benefit to do so? If it were less certain how, exactly, Sugiyama died, it’s incredibly likely that we would have opted to defer to her expertise because of her talent. From there, she would have been able to further mislead us, perhaps by claiming the weapon was something other than what it actually was. Yet nothing like that is the case. The weapon was evident, to the point of having been left on the scene. It isn’t impossible for Ayanokouji to have set this up, but I find that to be the less likely scenario out of our remaining options.”

“We could interrogate Saito further, but honestly it’s a wonder she’s been able to give us this much. She’s already said her piece - they were in the library for at least some time, during which they heard something from the section with the fishing rods, presumably the culprit sneaking around in preparation to set up their trap. We’re not going to get anything else out of her.”

… It seems more like he’s calling her useless than speaking in her defense to any degree. Sorry, Yuna.

“The most straightforward answer is that they needed to get easy access to a bat. Maybe they just neglected to return things to their original positions after picking one up, maybe they set it up like that ahead of time so they could run out and get one as quickly as possible. We can speculate about the specifics of that as much as we want, but we’re on a time limit here.”

“Which is why I stand behind my accusation of Ragavade. With everything we were able to uncover, the logical conclusion is that they are responsible for this. The method objectively fits with their skill set, and I’ve given my reasoning as to their potential motive. Unless someone can come up with something very convincing to suggest Ayanokouji’s guilt, which I doubt, I think it’s clear who we ought to be voting for.”
