Hey Tahyal! I hope all is well.
I have a lot of bloating going on right now. It seems to happen a lot before my cycle. Any recommendations?
Hello!
So from a purely physical perspective :
Are you eliminating properly ? (Do you go everyday?) - If not, focus on having regular bowel movements everyday and the bloating could subside just with that. Some things you can do for that are : Move everyday (could be gentle movements such as yoga, pilates, or even just walking), Drink enough water for your body weight, Eat more protein, as well as fiber to facilitate estrogen detox and to flush things out, and check your stomach acid levels, if they’re low you might want to try digestive bitters to facilitate the digestion process (Organic Olivia has a nice one in spray format).
I also recommend checking if you’re not magnesium deficient, as this mineral plays an important role in digestion, and in our body in general. Most people are deficient in Magnesium. If you do choose to supplement with it, I recommend the sunwarrior brand, its liquid and quite bitter, but its the best one ive tried composition wise!
Aside from that, here are some herbal teas that can help with bloating : Ginger & Mint, Dandelion root, Spearmint or Peppermint, Rose petal & Hibiscus.
Deep belly breathing exercises, Belly massages, and Foot massages to stimulate MMC (migrating motor complex) can all be great additions to your routine 🫶🏽.
Now from an emotional / mental perspective :
Bloating can occur when we are resisting something, bottling up emotions, or experiencing fear or anxiety. It’s our body’s way of trying to get our attention, urging us to get out of our heads and into our bodies, our emotions : to feel instead of analyze or strategize.
You might greatly benefit from journaling (no filter, write everything that comes up or that has been on your mind), mindfulness (sit with yourself and feel what comes up, do not resist, do not analyze, simply be present with yourself), Prayer (casting the burden on a Power Higher than you is liberating, knowing that you are ultimately seen and taken care of, regardless of what the circumstances are currently looking like).
If you’re up to do a bit of reading, I highly recommend these books : The emotion code by Dr Bradley Nelson, and Your body’s telling you : love yourself by Lise Bourbeau.
Check out Kori Meloy’s instagram as well, she has a plethora of information about women’s health.
Hope you feel well soon 🤍

Unlocking the Beauty of Vegan Collagen Powder
Tumblr media
In beauty and wellness, collagen is a cornerstone ingredient known for its incredible benefits for skin, hair, and overall health.
However, traditional animal-derived collagen isn't an option for those following a plant-based lifestyle. Enter vegan collagen powder- a revolutionary product that promises the same rejuvenating effects without compromising ethical beliefs. Let's dive into the wonders of this plant-based wonder and how it can transform your beauty regimen.
Tumblr media
What is Vegan Collagen Powder?
Collagen is traditionally derived from animals, but vegan collagen powder offers a cruelty-free alternative. This innovative product uses genetically modified yeast and bacteria engineered to produce collagen peptides. These peptides mimic the amino acid structure of traditional collagen, providing a seamless, ethical, and practical replacement.
The science behind the beauty
The production of vegan collagen involves a fascinating process called microbial fermentation. Scientists introduce specific genes into the microorganisms, producing collagen proteins as they grow. This method ensures a vegan-friendly product and allows for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly production process than traditional collagen sources.
Tumblr media
Benefits of Vegan Collagen Powder
Vegan Collagen Powder is packed with benefits that can enhance your natural beauty:
Skin elasticity and hydration: Regular use may help improve skin elasticity, reduce fine lines and increase hydration, resulting in a more youthful and radiant complexion.
Hair and Nail Strength: The amino acids in vegan collagen may also contribute to stronger, healthier hair and nails by supporting growth and reducing brittleness.
Joint and Bone Health: This powder supports joint health and bone strength beyond beauty, making it a versatile addition to your wellness routine.
A sustainable choice for beauty
Choosing vegan collagen benefits your appearance and aligns with eco-conscious values. By choosing plant-based collagen, you're helping reduce animal exploitation and the environmental impact of animal agriculture.
Tumblr media
Incorporating Vegan Collagen into Your Routine
Incorporating vegan collagen powder into your daily routine is easy and versatile. Here are some tips for getting the most out of this beauty booster:
Morning smoothies: Add the powder to your morning smoothie for a nutritious start.
Coffee and Tea: Mix into your hot beverages for an effortless beauty boost.
Baking and Cooking: Add it to your recipes for an extra dose of collagen in your meals.
Choosing the right product
When choosing a vegan collagen powder, look for non-GMO products, free of artificial additives, and transparent about their ingredient sourcing and production methods. This will ensure a high-quality, ethical product that aligns with your values.

Putting the work in
I don't remember if I posted about working with my doctor to come up with a GOOD health plan or not, so I'm going to cliff-notes it now.
I went to the doc and started on a new nutrition plan on May 8th. That's 36 days ago. I had started seeing my favorite trainer way back in... Jan? Feb? But nothing crazy. I was kinda going through the motions just to get back to it. Since May 8th, I have been deadass serious.
So on the 8th, my entire diet changed. I'm on something akin to Paleo, but more restrictive. Basically, I can eat all the white meat chicken I want, some veggies, and a few fruits. My drinks are ONLY water with the exception of a protein mix (and only one; SunWarrior). I can't eat any dairy, no nightshades (tomatoes and the like), most fruits are off limits (apples, strawberries, and most other berries are ok), some nuts, and all the leafy greens a girl could want.
I rotate between three meals more often than not (like, 95% of my meals are one of these three).
My favorite is a bowl with chopped kale and cauliflower base topped with strawberries, broccoli, blackened chicken, sunflower seeds, avocado, and balsamic vinaigrette.
I also do chicken breast with a small fruit salad on the side
And my other dish is 2 chicken breasts with zucchini.
Coming from a girl who ate things like 4 chicken tenders with mac n cheese and fries pretty regularly, this is a massive change. I also was seriously non-active. I have a desk job and work from home. My step count was absolutely laughable.
This past month+a few days have been entirely different.
On my gym days (3x a week with the trainer), I get up between 4:30 and 5, do my morning stuff for about half an hour and then head out the door with my SunWarrior shake. I have a 30 minute drive to the gym, and do a half hour on the treadmill to warm up before seeing Jess (the trainer), and then I do my workout with her and drive a half hour back home. Shower, change clothes, and plop my ass in front of the computer to start work.
On my non-gym days, I sometimes hop on my home treadmill or play beat saber or Supernatural on my Oculus for some cardio, and then in front of the computer.
I could be so much better; I could go to the gym more often, I could Oculus much more frequently, but it's still a huge change. I've lost about 16 pounds this month, and good lort do I feel better!

Prompt #2
Tumblr media
Majority of my underlying food beliefs are centered around the nutritional/scientific reasoning behind meals. I am an athlete and a lot of my schedule is booked up with practices, lifts, conditioning, and recovery activities. To be able to complete the rigorous demands of hockey nutrition is key for better performance. I follow a 60, 25, 15 rule in season, where most of my activity and calories are being used. 60 percent of my daily diet goes to carbs, 25 percent is protein, 15 percent is fats. These three food categories are the macronutrients your "body needs for energy and to maintain the body's structure and systems" (MD Anderson, 2020). My staple carbohydrates are brown rice, any type of pasta, and potatoes. My staple proteins are lean ground beef, chicken breasts, low carb sausage, and I also try to consume either a protein shake or powder within the 30 minute window ("anabolic window") post activity. During this time frame the muscles are more sensitive to protein, and it gives your muscles the amino acids necessary for repair (us news, n.d.). I try to stay away from sports drinks which have "synthetic nutrients, dyes, and other processed ingredients", and instead I use a BCAA replenishment powder if I feel as needed (Sunwarrior, 2019). I am still trying to be better about my refined sugar consumption. I may be an athlete, but I still have a sweet tooth! My brother is also an athlete and follows this macronutrient nutrition plan, as well as some of my teammates. However, there is nothing wrong with just watching how you eat and managing with what are considered beneficial foods, instead of tracking everything on an app like MyfitnessPal.
