I meant to make posts about my trip at the end of each day but I took sooo many pictures and was drunk like half the time and didn’t wanna sort through all that lmao. I might post in parts bc there’s a lot but I’ll start with the first 2 days:
I took a solo trip to miami bc I was originally supposed to go with my mom last winter and I got all ready and even made a list of all the things I wanted to do, but at the last minute she told me she was going to go with her sisters and they didn’t want me to come >:[ I still had my list and really wanted to do it all so I decided to take a chunk of my savings and go on my own for spring break
My whole list was pretty much just art museums and installations and botanical gardens. The first 2 days I went to the Perez Art Museum and then the Rubell Museum and Superblue. I ended up finding 3 different Yayoi Kusama infinity room installations!!! I also got to see some Yoshitomo Nara pieces and an Aya Takano piece!!! In person!!! 😭 I just wanted to get right up on the thing and start breathing on it lmao!! I remember seeing her art for the first time on weheartit when I was like 13 or 14 and it definitely altered my brain chemistry.
I also got to see some teamLab installations which I never thought I’d get to see irl!! There was one where big flowers bloomed on the wall and when you touched them they wilted and withered away. The flowers changed with every new bloom. And in another one it was raining all down the walls and on the floor and wherever you touched the wall or stood for a while the rain would get deflected and flowers would bloom. There was also one called “Massless Clouds Between Sculpture and Life” which was a big room full of cloud size bubble masses. It was nice but the bubbles were super sticky but they give you towels after.
I was super scared to travel so far all alone but I’m so glad I did it was really worth it!! There were a few things that went wrong here and there and I kinda wanted to cry about it but I powered through!! I hope if anybody who reads this is thinking about traveling alone it gives you a little courage!! ✌🏼

THE CHRONICLES OF MIAMI BY JR LANDS AT MIAMI ART WEEK 2023
Miami Art Week 2023: In November 2022, artist JR and his mobile studio visited ten historic and well-known neighborhoods that make up the fabric of Miami. He invited anyone passing by to take their portrait, photographing 1,048 residents and visitors. The artist ultimately collaged the pictures to create The Chronicles of Miami, a highly realistic photographic mural that offers a window into the social dynamics and paradoxes in Miami life. As one of JR’s most intricate murals to date, the project is debuting across two facades in December 2023 on the occasion of Art Basel Miami Beach. The first section of the mural is presented in the Design District’s Jungle Plaza, and the second section spans the facade of Superblue in Allapattah. Together, the installations measure over 122 meters.

INTERACTIVE DESIGN
INTERACTIVE DESIGN– What is it?
Interactive art is a form of art that involves the spectator in a way that allows the art to achieve its purpose. Some interactive art installations achieve this by letting the observer walk through, over or around them; others ask the artist or the spectators to become part of the artwork in some way. Interactive art is a genre of art in which the viewers participate in some way by providing an input in order to determine the outcome. Unlike traditional art forms, wherein the interaction of the spectator is merely a mental event, interactivity allows for various types of navigation, assembly, and/or contribution to an artwork, which goes far beyond purely psychological activity. Interactivity as a medium produce meaning.
Top Five Interactive Designs, according to Tracy Dodge.
What makes a good interactive design to YOU? What is the intent for the site/app you chose? Does it fulfill its purpose?
A good interactive design will draw me in and make me want to participate, or want to figure out how they made it happen. The site I chose is Superblue in Miami Florida. Superblue’s exhibition was created with immersive light, video, and sound experiences, and invite you to embark on a multisensory journey that is as visually spectacular as it is thought-provoking. Yes, this definitely fulfills its purpose.  It draws you into each experience, makes you think and wonder how or why and continue exploring.

H/W: Independent Museum Visit
I went to SuperBlue Miami and went through many exhibits, some submerssive and some were just 3D design playing with light. My favorite one was Flowers And People, it was this huge room in which essentially was an interactive artwork/ art show, I loved that it combined human interaction with art, design and technology. As an artist we often struggle sometimes to grab non-artist's attention, with the progression of digital media, it has become so difficult, so I really appreciated this specific artwork. My "least" favorite artwork was this mirror/light installation (I couldn't find the name), ONLY reason why this one was my least favorite was because it was treated as a "filler" artwork, it was placed in an area where you're really waiting in line for a film showing, it was nice and I loved the installation, but it felt like it was treated as a filler between "more important" artwork for people to take selfies in.
