Population Map - South West Europe
by SuperMac
Data source: https://www.geonames.org/ (Places, coordinates, population)
Map: https://kepler.gl
Some notes:
The map is created by placing circles for all towns/villages in the data set, with a radius based on population. If several circles intersect the color is getting lighter/yellow. Water is always dark. The map is primarily intended to spark interest and look awesome.
See our blog: http://bitesofdata.se for more interesting maps and statistics (in Swedish).

I Pick Sides in the War between the Phone Team and IT
I am going to dial back a couple decades to start this post, just to setup the next two posts I have in mind. This was originally going to be the first of those two posts. But then in a low key Tristram Shandy-esque move, and he might be the patron saint of my writing style, I found that I had rolled past the 2,000 word mark and hadn’t even gotten to the birth of the idea I planned to write…

Do you have any food you'd recommend (it's gonna my first time in the UK soon) I know this is blasphemy but I don't really like tea. )
shhhhhh don’t tell anyone but I don’t like tea either I’m a hot chocolate guy
BUT I can absolutely offer some food suggestions (though a lot of my fav things are ni only and not available in mainland uk)
snack wise walkers crisps peak. any maynards basset sweets, jaffa cakes, french fancies. uk cadbury wins (irish is even better), jammie dodgers. go stereotypically scottish and try irn bru and in terms of being quintessentially uk you have to try a chippy/chip shop at least once it’s required. also greggs because greggs

Macworld December 1997
This issue’s cover feature on professional desktop publishing happened to note the best systems for power users remained the “Mac clones“ fast passing from the scene. As for what remained, the news section reported on Apple’s “Think different” campaign. While I do recall certain members of the majority platform group were thoroughly smug about it (and have recollections of a computer magazine illustrating the “Here’s to the crazy ones...” commercial narration with images of cult leaders and other notable lunatics), Andrew Gore’s editorial just might have begun to been affected by the “Reality Distortion Field.” In the “MacUser section” (which included a “PowerBookUser” section still looking forward to the Common Hardware Reference Platform making “clone PowerBooks” available at last), Andy Ihnatko’s column fulminated about Steve Jobs’s harsh decisions at the beginning of his overlordship, then managed to close with the suggestion Jobs was doing this to draw ire on himself so that his eventual selection for Apple CEO would look good by comparison. At the back of the magazine, David Pogue enthused about the fit-and-polish touches of Mac OS 8 and concluded “the gang at Apple Computer does its best work when its collective back is against the wall.”

I actually have no memory of ever eating anything from Abrakebabra BUT
Why are there new Abras opening?? I keep seeing new Abrakebabra locations opening and it's VERY CONFUSING because I thought they were closing down a few years ago??
