One of the things I never hear people talk about to do with finding your personal style is what it’s like being a kid who grew up on supermarket clothes
you have an emo phase? Tough luck the best Tesco f&f can give you is flannel shirt, pray that they carry it in dark colours.
Goth? Yeah no not happening, Asda can’t help you there
Basic? Well… you can get a cheap imitation but really you’ll look like your mum
Never mind the accessories unless you want to look 12 or 40
Okay that’s harsh, I’m sure there are people who know how to make a good outfit with this stuff. But the frustration I have bc I don’t know how to shop in real clothes shops is so annoying. Many people do very well but me? Yeah no, it’s bland hoodies, some of which k actually like
And when you can afford nicer clothes the prices still make your stomach churn. I bough a pair of jeans the other day and I wanted to cry

[Image description: A traditional drawing of Nobuko Miyamoto as Hanako Inoue in Supermarket Woman. Here, she's a middle-age Japanese woman with a short, choppy haircut. She's smiling widely, her eyes beginning to close in joy. Her head is tilted to the left, and the piece cuts off a little below her shoulders. She's wearing a red blazer and a black bow tie. The background is a similar red to the blazer. This piece is drawn with markers, using bold, unnatural colours. In the top corner, it says "#2 - film by Juzo Itami".]

I am so impatient, fundamentally, as a person, that it is apparently Concerning when I manage to make the herculean effort to be patient about something. That feels insulting, somehow.

i have a comic that pokes fun at my coworkers, vendors and customers similar to the real ones at the grocery store where I work. No one really looks like this characters . . . . or do they?
