I thought I was clever setting my longfic exclusively in a Winterfell totally cut off from Westeros so I could kind of handwave the rest of the storylines but ha ha, it turns out for my endgame to make any sense I have to resolve things in the rest of the world after all. This is... difficult! GRRM I HAVE SOME COMPLAINTS.
But even worse, I have to work with Show Canon through the end of Season 7 because I made that decision for some reason, so I gotta make sense of Dumb and Dumber’s decisions too. What the hell do I do with Dorne, for example? Ellaria murdering Doran made no damn sense, and she wouldn’t inherit Sunspear as Oberyn’s paramour anyway, and then they all died, so who’s running Dorne? How is there not a civil war of succession? Unless I spontaneously generated a new male Martell prince out of nowhere, but who would do that?
I’m very tempted to just have Arianne Martell roll up like surprise_bitch.gif. She’s been vacationing on the Summer Isles and everyone forgot about her but whoops, guess she’s Queen of Dorne now, bow down. It makes as much sense as anything at this point.

She supposed it didn’t truly count as being shot if the bullet only really grazed you. It had been a deep one, but a graze nonetheless. And though afflicted with headaches for weeks after, she lived. If she’d felt a bit like a living ghost on New Providence, that feeling was now magnified under the knowledge that she was now quite literally one for all it was worth.
James thought her dead, she’d been informed of that immediately upon waking; before being removed from the town in the interest of that remaining the case. Peter was a liar to the bitter end, it seemed.
Miranda doubted that seeing Charlestown burn as opposed to simply hearing about it would have changed her reaction to it. Which was nothing, albeit a heavy nothing. While gratified in the abstract that Peter Ashe was dead, it ultimately didn’t change anything, it didn’t bring Thomas back.
His death, however, made what would have been potentially a very long confinement much shorter. And within a few short weeks, with the assistance of Abigail, she was ‘home’. With no way to contact James in any real way, she had no recourse but to wait; engaging a neighbor who was often in Nassau for information on the comings and goings of ships and captains under the guise of being over-interested in gossip.
