So, Gladion is a Master Pair with Magearna (dirty move before our half-year Anniversary), Riley and the PokeKid are freebies, Chase is redundant af, and we get a male Palentine's character for once (Greedent. Candice has Galarian Darmanitan.) Wally is our Lodge recruit for this month. There's also gonna be an Alcremie event.

Steven/Deoxys also gets a Support EX role, which since he's already basically Tech + Strike, they just made him more broken.

Stammi Vicino and the events of Yuri!!! On Ice are still mind boggling to me. Where’s that post about scarcely-fathomable level of romance.

Stammi Vicino is the first skating sequence in YOI. It is the first full skating routine we are presented with and it’s the choreography we see in the very first moments of the show. Lyrically, Stammi Vicino is about a man calling out for someone to hear him, speaking of intense loneliness and decrying love. The lyrics were written by the creator of YOI, Kubo Mitsurou, and translated into Italian for the composition.

In the first episode of the show, both Yuuri and Victor skate this routine individually. Victor skates it for Worlds, and Yuuri skates it because he wants to get his love for skating back.

Unbeknownst to him, Yuuri’s performance was recorded and uploaded to YouTube, and Victor comes into his life from there (directly because of Yuuri’s SV performance).

Victor sees Yuuri’s performance and comes to meet Yuuri, and that’s the inciting incident of the show. Both of their routines were a calling out into the darkness, and they were answered. (That’s love!) Through the show, we learn that both Victor and Yuuri were in bad places at the time of the routine of the first episode, and we see them grow wonderfully together in their relationship and as people through the series.

Stammi Vicino is also known as Hanarezu Ni Soba Ni Ite in Japanese, or Stay Close to Me. This line is said by both characters throughout the show, perhaps most significantly by Yuuri in their argument in the parking garage in EP 7 (a major turning point for their relationship).

The first time Yuuri sees Victor in the flashback, we get notes of Stammi Vicino underneath the dialogue.

This song is perhaps the musical foundation for the entire show! Every aspect of Victor and Yuuri’s relationship is writ in, from calling out into the darkness to finally coming together— represented in the closing routine of the show, Stammi Vicino: Duetto.

Yuuri skates Stammi Vicino once more as the show’s final episode closes, and this time Victor joins him for a pair skate. The final episode is one where they’ve finally fully come together — they agree on their future and on their future together. It’s a beautiful bookend to the story, and represents, as the skating routines always do, their characters and their relationship.

In Duetto, the verses about condemning love are gone and the piece has two singers instead of one. Verses in both the aria and duetto say “your hands, your legs / my hands, my legs / our heartbeats / are blending together,” referencing — and they were crazy for this honestly — Plato’s theory of soulmates. At the end of the piece, the singers “leave together”.

The creator, Kubo Mitsurou, has stated in the past very explicitly and publicly that Victor and Yuuri are soulmates. Canonically! The first time Yuuri sees Victor in the flashback, we get notes of Stammi Vicino underneath the dialogue. Stammi Vicino is the musical thread of Victor and Yuuri’s relationship.

They’re engaged!! To be married!!! They’re canonically soulmates!!!

The music in YOI is deeply intertwined with the storytelling. Each routine is uniquely representative of a character, who they are as person, and their journey. The relationship between Victor and Yuuri is the core of this show, and Stammi Vicino is perhaps the most important piece representative of their relationship.

Stammi Vicino, the aria and duetto, represent a story about loneliness and calling out for love and that call being answered. That’s the thesis of Yuri on Ice.

“There’s a place you just can’t reach unless you have a dream too big to bear alone. We call everything on the ice ‘love.’”

For some of the SV and SVE bachelors and bachelorettes (you can pick who because that’s alotta people, but my main requests are Emily, Victor and Sam) they all had a pretty bad day, and here comes the farmer to cheer them up. What made them upset, and what does the farmer do?

Sam:

Sam left JojaMart in a pretty bad mood. And who wouldn't - Morris took away his salary because Sam allegedly smashed a whole stand with expensive drinks, and now his salary will go as compensation for the loss. Sam didn't touch this stand at all, but he was not lucky enough to be nearby, there were no other employees at this moment, and there are no security cameras. Morris didn't believe his story, and as a result, Sam now has to work for a whole month for free! This is so unfair!

Sam met Farmer near Clint's forge. Seeing his friend's sullen face, the Farmer worriedly asked what had happened. Sam didn't want to lash out at others, but he also really wanted to vent to someone. After telling the whole story, the Farmer asked Sam to wait here and, turning around, went towards JojaMart. Less than ten minutes had passed when the Farmer left the building and told Sam that the problem had been solved, and that another employee's hastily set up booth was the culprit. Sam's eyes widened in surprise. Does that mean he gets his well-deserved salary? Awesome! Afterwards, the Farmer invited Sam to the Saloon to buy pizza and play arcade games. Bad mood? Forget about it, when Sam has such a wonderful friend!

Victor:

The constant pressure to find a job always upset Victor so much. He sincerely understands that his dearest mother wishes him the best, but her constant reminders that Victor has not yet found a job bring the poor boy to a depressive state. For both of them, it has become almost a tradition: a couple of phrases turn into an unpleasant conversation, and then Victor goes outside to cool off.

So, on another walk, away from bad thoughts, on the bridge he met a Farmer who was fishing. Victor was about to leave, afraid to interfere their fishing, but the Farmer quickly stops him and asks why he is in such a depressed mood. The story was long, but the Farmer listened attentively to Victor, comforted him, helping with advice and kind words. It was much easier for Victor knowing that the Farmer supported him and did not consider him a crybaby, a bore and a weakling. This support means a lot to him.

Emily:

The autumn festivals in Stardew Valley always mean a huge rush of tourists to the Saloon, and not a moment's rest for Emily. And everything would be fine, but not all guests from the big cities know at least the minimum rules of good manners. Overworked, Emily accidentally knocks over a mug of ale on the man who ordered it. Having already poured into himself not the first mug of strong drinks, he immediately began to resent, pouring name-calling and curses on Emily. And the poor waitress, out of guilt for her clumsiness, this time absorbed all the negativity into herself.

Who known how long this would have continued until the Farmer came to the table. They grabbed the shirt collar of that boor, and with one movement they kicked him out of the Saloon. Farmer also gave that asshole an icy look and the phrase "get lost", thwarting any attempt by the man to continue the scandal. Emily felt guilty, because she believed that it all started because of her, but the Farmer reassured her and explained that this was not a reason to be so rude to the workers. Gus, who later found out what happened, was of the same opinion as the Farmer, and promised that this this man would not be in the Saloon again. Emily shone brighter than the sun, realizing that Gus and her friend would not let her drown in negative energy.

Okay so district breakdowns (I'm just gonna do this for the core Seventh Virtue cast):

Reeve - District 12 (dunno why exactly except she's MY YA dystopian protagonist so!)

Lonan - District 2 (this makes him soooo irritating to me LOL anyway him and Reeve grew up w/ diff fathers so that's my explanation for separating them)

Darren - District 4 (& 100% inducted into the Careers but not a Career in practice LOL)

Harrison - District 7 (you can't tell me he's not basically Johanna?? also his ass needs an axe so)

Foster - District 8 (bc textiles!)

Okay so everyone but Foster has a really solid chance at winning LOL (Foster gives Peeta energy if that helps like he has skills to help him win but it's unlikely he'd win without a Katniss equivalent).

Harrison & Darren are equivalent to me in skill for a couple reasons. They're both physically strong (Darren is slightly more), and both resourceful (Darren builds himself a cabin in SV but in the dystopian rewrite I was doing with my sister, Harrison lives very comfortably in the woods in a bushcraft fort he made himself). Darren's more logical than Harrison but Harrison has stronger instincts & he's also less empathetic so wouldn't hesitate as much. He's also used to roughing it too, whereas Darren's grew up more sheltered, so TL;DR Harrison beats Darren but VERY narrowly and mostly through luck.

For Reeve it's hard to say because she's INCREDIBLY smart and also physically strong, and a lot more strategic than Harrison. I think she'd actually be quite similar to Katniss in the games, so imperfect but very resourceful. She gives Clove vibes too tho like she is also ruthless when she needs to be! I do think Harrison could come out above Reeve though bc he's an artist and I could easily see him doing some Peeta cake decorating camouflage.

WITH THAT SAID I think Lonan would win LOL. I can see his father as some wealthy guy who gets him into all that Career training (NEPOTISM VICTOR). Against Reeve I think he'd have a tough fight because they're really equivalent in strategy. But in general, he's always been the most adept at not dying??? And though Harrison has more brute strength, Lonan is more cunning & strategic and I think that's why he comes out on top. He gives Foxface but like... would win HAHA.
