Finally Binghe is here! I know he’s often depicted as a Changeling, but I feel as if a Kirin (or would Qilin be more appropriate?) would better suit him, because they’re supposed to be heralds for great rulers and are “heavenly” beasts and are full of benevolence- which is kind of ironic and hilarious to me considering, well, the entire novel.

In this universe Binghe would have been disguised as a unicorn and raised as one, his horn would be written off as odd but nothing that would indicate his heritage. He also gets a cute blanket when he arrives at the mountain because I say so and it looks cute.

I swear I will write my notes down eventually

Shen Jiu's relationship with Luo Binghe always baffled me when I first joined the SVSSS fandom.

Like, what did he do? What did this child do to you to make him hate you so much? Luo Binghe was powerless and small and just wanted praise from anyone who would give it, acknowledgement from anyone who would give it, love and acceptance from anywhere he could find it. What could a child like that have done for you to treat him so badly? Finding out Shen Jiu had been a child slave blew my mind even more because how can you put someone through the same heart shattering pain that you went through? What level of cruelty is required for shit like that?!

I assume Shen Jiu looked at Luo Binghe, perceptive as he was, and saw within him the eyes of a powerful dominating dictator. The kind of eyes the slave masters had. Eyes that had haunted him his entire life. Those eyes disgusted him. He could tell that Luo Binghe would grow powerful, possessive and destructive (It's not like he was wrong). Rather than guide that power into a more progressive light, he decided it was better to stomp it out entirely.

Shen Jiu isn't sorry about what he did to Luo Binghe and he would fucking do it again if given the chance. Not even tortured was he sorry about hurting Binghe, he only wished he'd killed him sooner. Morally black characters like that kind of amaze me more than morally grey characters. Cause grey characters can try to justify their actions, but the black characters? They're like "Yes, I did that shit and I would do it again."

That's sick, but also.....sick.🔥🔥

BINGJIU FIC HELP PLEASE!!!!

I *CANNOT* find the BingJiu fic I *KNOW* I read before so I am reaching out to the void for help!

It's fairly short. A modern AU where Shen Jiu's husband Yue Qingyuan cheats on him with his best friend Luo Qingge. Reeling from the divorce, shattering of his world, blah blah blah, Shen Jiu sees a pet adoption advert for this massive black dog and is like "FUCK IT. I KNOW AN INTELLIGENT BEAST THAT NO ONE ELSE WANTS WHEN I SEE IT" and adopts the dog (wolf???) and names it Beast. It is a unnervingly intelligent dog that is fond of just... Staring. At Shen Jiu. But whatever, it's refused to sleep in the doggy bed but that's fine it's kind of nice to not sleep alone anymore...

After an emotional encounter with LQG, Shen Jiu basically cuddles his massive black dog and cries himself into unconsciousness and when he wakes up, he is in bed, his dog is gone, and a naked man is making breakfast in his kitchen. Um. WTF????

If anyone remembers this fic, please @ me with the title and/or author. It *might* be part of a collection of shorts or a stand alone, I cannot for the life of me remember. Signal boost reblogs are also appreciated.

Okay this one is fun so here we go! Number one is pretty much set in stone, while 2 to 9 are just in the order they come to me AND are in the fandoms I've been enagged with in recent years, because I move fandoms a lot. Let's say that if I happened to be stranded somewhere with no Internet these are the fics I would like to have with me, at this moment.

desynchronization by Ontogenesis (hikaru no go, Ogata/Sei) It has: an amnesiac displaced out of time who was formerly a ghost and lots of relationship drama. I reread this pretty much every year. One of my favorite things about this is that while it is written in english, the characters' dialogues flow AS IF THEY WERE IN JAPANESE, and I can hear they actually say these senteces. Which to me is an amazing feat.

Game of Stacks by CommaSplice (GoT, multiple ships). Such a well-thought modern AU is hard to come by.

if living can be this by Lise (MDZS, songxuexiao). My fave Yi City redemption fic. Lise is one of my all time fave authors becuase of the excellent characterizaiton and dialogue; I orignally got hooked by their Steve/Loki works in Marvel fandom, which are also amazing.

This Side of Rain by Erinye (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, squarejohn). I love this one for making me see the benefits of unlinear narrative, and what has to be one of the most agonizingly equisite description of pining in fiction.

Unwilling Sleep by Telanu (this author also has other pseodonyms but I don't remember them off the bat (Petshop of Horrors, Leon/Count D) It has: an immortal character becoming mortal, and all it entails.

Listerworld by Kahvi, Roadstergal (Red Dwarf, LIster/Rimmer). One of the most unique plots I've read, befitting the uniqueness of the source material. Also, pining.

The Most Important Thing by NorthenSparrow (Supernatural, destiel). All of their destiel works are amazing but this one has amnesia, which is one of my favorite tropes so ^^

Wizardry By Consent by Sixthlight (Rivers of London, Peter/Nightingale). I love all of this author's works in the fandom, amazing writing.

Не в нашей власти by Ликующий Октаэдр. (SVSSS, bingjiu) This fic is a bit longer than my preferred fic length, which is up to 200k words and moreover still ongoing, but manages to keep the (extremely well crafted) story interesting. Amazing bingjiu interactions.

Дождь и Ветер by Eswet (Nirvana in Fire, Prince Yu/Mei Changsu). A great redemption fic for my favorite evil prince and some proper food to ease the hunger for my favorite rarepair (71 works on AO3 including two paltry attempts of my own T_T) Honorable mentions go to many fics by esama in Hikaru no Go and Harry Potter fandoms out of which I cannot pick a single one, bingjiu fics by xpityx, The Lotus Eaters by aldora 89 (Kirk/Spock). oh wait and also A bit of Fragnance by Silvercistern (now orphaned because the author got harassed by f***ing antis in a different fandom), which is a great arranged marriage AU for Quan Yizhen/Yin Yu (TGCF). And --- I MUST HIT SEND ALREADY BECAUSE I COULD GO ON FOR HOURS TRUST ME (Oh wait you also asked about my nickname, so just a short explanation - Kasasagi means magpie in Japanese and it is how my writing works - I steal the shiny bits of everything I see (and read) and put them together.)

Also, on this re-read, I really feel like the whole immortal alliance conference was when Shen Yuan was finally starting to see these characters as people.

You see him at first betting on Luo Binghe, having a good time watching the show. Later on, when the demons appear and people start dying, he admits himself that he expected just to watch the show as it played out like in PIDW. But when he saw it happening with his own eyes, he couldn’t pretend anymore, and watch more kids get hurt.

Even at the end of it, he was still in denial. As Luo Binghe stood on the edge of the abyss he thinks “if just falls in he’ll grab onto something, he’ll be fine, like the main characters always do in these type or scenes”. On the outside he’s clearly upset about the whole situation, but still playing pretend at the same time, like he’s scared to admit this might all be real, including his own emotions.
