I know Pirate Radio wasn’t improv for the most part, but were any other prominent voice acting bits totally improvised, aside from the live interactions with fans? I think that swan shaped scone joke the puppets made was improv, judging by the realistic laughing after the line…improv is a lot of fun and I wish it were done more, as it is Phil’s specialty, but it makes it difficult to tell which is a genuine character moment or the actors just having a laugh! They are good at jokes, though!

I have no proof of this, but I feel like a lot of their skits leave room for improv, and likely have some improvised lines scattered throughout. Phil's probably the only VA where I was defer to his characterization of Murdoc, even if he goes off-script, since he's been voicing him for so long. He originated the role, so he essentially *is* him.

2doc headcanons because i caaan~

made a separate list just for 2d and murdoc bc i have quite a lot

- Murdoc started comparing 2D to a dog/pet because of 2D’s insanely accurate ability to detect when Murdoc is going to have a panic attack. Russel and Noodle keep making references to this during interviews just to tease Murdoc, who desperately does not want the public to know. 

- 2D’s voice is one of the only things able to pull Murdoc out of a panic attack.

- While Murdoc’s voice isn’t exactly a great migraine cure, his presence does help ease 2D’s pain (it also helps that Murdoc memorized 2D’s prescriptions and knows where they are at all times).

- Murdoc has trouble not falling asleep to 2D’s singing.

- They once bumped into Murdoc’s brother Hannibal while out on a liquor run. Sensing his oncoming panic attack, 2D grabbed Murdoc’s hand and pulled him into a maze of street market booths. 

- 2D finds Murdoc’s small stature endearing. Murdoc fucking hates it, personally.

- 2D likes to brush Murdoc’s bangs out of the way and kiss his forehead. He also loves kissing Murdoc’s nose. Murdoc blushes like a goddamn schoolgirl every time.

- Murdoc loooves leaving little nips and bites on 2D’s neck throughout the day.

- 2D and Murdoc definitely know each other better than they know themselves at this point. 

- Murdoc has expanded his list of endearing nicknames for 2D, which now includes: Bluebird, Songbird, Stilts, Giraffe, and Pretty Boy.

- Whenever Murdoc pisses him off, 2D puts Murdoc’s things on a high shelf and asks if he needs help getting them down. 

- 2D has always been fascinated by Murdoc’s heterochromia.

- He’s also always been fascinated by how much Murdoc resembles a zombie.

- The two like watching cheesy horror movies together, especially 2D. Murdoc is really just in it for the sex scenes.

- Murdoc caught feelings first. 2D was oblivious to this throughout the entirety of Phase 1 and a bit of Phase 2. 

- Murdoc is incredibly possessive of 2D. As much as 2D enjoys this sometimes, he’s working on helping Murdoc have more trust in their relationship.

- Murdoc and 2D often go shopping for new clothes together (if it weren’t for Murdoc, 2D would wear exactly one shirt and one pair of pants).

- Murdoc also introduced 2D to various different vegan foods so he wouldn’t have to rely on microwavable meals and toast. 

- Murdoc steals and wears 2D’s watches to get his attention. 

- The two struggle to not touch each other during interviews.

- Murdoc quickly discovered he could tranquilize 2D’s restless legs and hands by rubbing them.

- Every so often, one of them will bake the other swan-shaped scones or buy the other a Kinder egg as an inside joke.

- 2D once tried learning to sing screamo, both to surprise and please Murdoc. He ended up choking on his own spit and had to go to the hospital.

- Sometimes Murdoc will try to launch things through 2D’s tooth gap like a goalpost. 

- The two have random spontaneous impromptu jam sessions which usually involve swapping instruments and Murdoc’s horrible singing. Russel and Noodle join them sometimes.

- They frequently steal songs off each other’s Spotify playlists. Murdoc does this quite a bit more than 2D. 

- Murdoc is surprisingly terrified of rollercoasters, and he nearly pissed himself when 2D convinced him to ride one for the first time.

- Cortez still does not like 2D. After failing to make peace with the damn bird, who attacks him every single time he tries, 2D can finally say the feeling is mutual. 

- 2D and Murdoc bond over making fun of shitty songs and overrated bands.

- Murdoc has trouble voicing his feelings, but he WILL fight anyone who messes with 2D. The others joke that his love language is “retributive justice”.

- In turn, being a pacifist, 2D defends Murdoc by simply dragging him away from sketchy situations (though not without a stern yet terrifying glare at whoever is messing with Murdoc). 

- 2D has a fascination with dentistry and likes poking at Murdoc’s sharp teeth.

- Murdoc’s first actual, genuine same-sex crush was on his ex bandmate Billy Boy. 2D will never admit it (because frankly he doesn’t understand his feelings on the matter that well) but he is INSANELY jealous over this, and it feels like a stab in the gut whenever Murdoc talks about missing his old band.

- Sometimes 2D and Murdoc will go out for a drive (or sailing, if it’s a nice day), smoke, then sit and talk about what happened at Plastic Beach. These outings are very private. 

- Desole was totally written for Murdoc, who loves the French language, as a sort-of apology for what happened during Phase 5.

Reading comments about Cuno joining the RCM cuz he respect Harry and like... no. No one should join the RCM lol. I hope Harry became Cuno's uncle figure but RCM are cops. Cuno should stay away. In my ideal universe Harry and Kim quite RCM and opened a communist swan shaped scones shop (that means it's grey and has 0 sprinkle unlike capitalism swan shaped scones) and Cuno exists to make them happy :)

Whenever it eventually comes, all I ask for in the end of gorillaz is for Mud and 2D to get their scone shop when they all retire from music and Rus and Noodle to be their assistants so they can be a happy little family of bakers
