✎ᝰ BAKUGOU KATSUKI ; — bakugou hates everything about valentine’s day & nothing could change that. unfortunately for him, nothing is your middle name.
࿄ ! warnings — none. super cute fluff. / note. p2 is here :} enjoy <3
Tumblr media
“i hate valentine’s day.”
bakugou and kirishima storm through the streets of tokyo, donning their hero uniforms and watching the public. kirishima rolls his eyes and tightly grabs the shoulder of his friend before he can shake him off in disgust.
“hate is a strong word, bakubro. you dislike valentine’s day. and i don’t believe that for a second. you just haven’t find the right one to love valentine’s with,” kirishima contends as he looks up at the billboards brandished with the latest advertisements going on and on about the latest swarovski bracelet and “the best flowers to get any woman to love you.”
“suckers like you are the reason why that is stupid day is such a big deal,” bakugou grumbles. “you’re gonna celebrate a made up day-” “it’s not made up!” “made up day to bait you into spending all your money on dumb shit. it’s useless and you’re dumb.”
kirishima laughs at bakugou’s cynicism and shakes his head. “like i said, you just haven’t find the right one! no offence, but taking romance advice from you would be like taking advice from denki.” bakugou shoots kirishima a pointed look and he puts his hands up in a surrendered pose.
“i’m just saying, while i buy flowers and a necklace for a lovely lady of mine, you can wallow in your pity party against the most romantic day of the year. that’s the best thing you can do for a girl.” bakugou groans outwardly and turns to look at his friend.
“is this a patrol or a reason for ya to go on and on about your new girlfriend? cos’ it seems like we ain’t scoping for villains and i’m just an ear to hear about how you get your dick wet.”
kirishima’s face curls at bakugou’s crude language and he shoves the blonde somewhat playfully. “firstly, my relationship with my girl is more than that. and secondly, it wouldn’t be manly of me to talk about my sex life.” bakugou scoffs at this.
“so instead you’ll subject me to ya boring love stories? hard pass.”
at this point, both the guys had reached their agency: being so caught up in their conversation about love and whatnot meant they subconsciously arrived at the huge, vast building.
“‘m sure dunceface and pinky will want to hear all about how you spent 15,000 yen on a fucking necklace but i don’t. have i already told you how stupid that was, by the way?”
kirishima sighs and opens the door, “that’s probably the only thing you’ve inputted into this conversation.”
the boys walk into the entrance and the reception is donned with flowers and glitter and pink hearts alike. the display left a sickening taste in bakugou’s mouth. there’s no way he would’ve co-signed something as ugly as this. it was definitely mina or denki or even deku-
“hey you guys! how do you like the look of the downstairs? i figured it’s not as valentine’s-esque as i would’ve liked but the glitter and the tendrils are pink and they’re heart shaped so i think it makes up for the other…” you gesture to the other parts of the decor that cover the entirely of the ground floor, “parts!”
kirishima looks at bakugou tentatively through his peripheral vision and bakugou’s eyebrows are so far raised, they’ve disappeared into the wheat strands adoring his hairline.
“i like it a lot, y/n! i can really feel the loving energy here,” exclaims kirishima and you smile and clap your hands at that.
“that’s so good to hear! some of the others said that it was perfect but didn’t know if you guys would like it as much…” you trail off and look at bakugou. he’s thankful that his mask covers up the movement of his eyes because he couldn’t have hated something more. the sickening colour of fuschia and pale pink messed with his feng shui more than he let on at this moment. if you were dunceface, he would’ve punched you up at this moment. heck, if you were pinky, he would’ve pulled on your ear and chastised you for not telling him first. if you were literally anybody else, you would’ve had an earful.
but you were you.
“i think it looks good,” bakugou hums and he nods before walking away to the elevators at the end of the vast room. you turn to see his moving body and you look at kirishima again in confusion.
“is he okay? are you sure he actually likes it?” you ask kirishima slowly and kirishima waves his hands at you.
“trust me, if he didn’t like it, he would’ve said something. you know bakugou doesn’t beat around the bush.” you smile in relief at that and kirishima quickly says bye to join bakugou in the closing lift.
“hey! wait up, bakugou!” kirishima makes the lift and is immediately welcomed by floating daisies and roses. bakugou stands staring straight out the doors of the elevator, not a lick of emotion on his face.
“so, uh, what was that?” asks kirishima after a lick of silence. bakugou scoffs, “i dunno what you’re talking about.”
kiri notices the tips of bakugou’s ears are red and he ponders on commenting on it before deciding he would prefer life.
“well, if i were you, i would get y/n a gift. but that’s just me though,” whistles the red haired man and bakugou’s eye twitches slightly and he rubs a hand across his face.
“fuck you and stop looking at me like that,” bakugou grumbles as kirishima nods with a knowing look on his face.
“…i heard through the grapevine that y/n really likes tulips and snapdragons - but you didn’t hear it from me!” mentions kirishima and as soon as those elevator doors open, bakugou storms out of there in a flurry, leaving his friend behind.
back in his office, bakugou sits at his desk and runs his fingers through the various decorations on his desk. it was the complete opposite of what his office usually looked like and to him, the runes of pink and red and white were ruining his feng shui. he picks up a card that’s situated on the edge of his desk and he doesn’t even have to open it to know it’s from you.
“dear ka bakugou,
i know the colours and the showiness might get too much for you so here’s a small gift from me before the day of festivities :) i.e. thank you for being a good sport!
love, y/n”
a gift card for his favourite watch brand sat in between the panels of the sickeningly glittery card.
when kirishima came to grab bakugou for lunch, he didn’t bring up the numerous tabs of florists and “gifts for girls you like” on the blond’s computer. and he definitely didn’t bring up the check of 135,000 yen addressed as “y/n’s gift” sitting amongst layers of paperwork.

Cons - Narrow Field of View: Compared to other models, its field of view is somewhat limited. - Not Ideal for Close Range: The minimum focus distance of 20 yards is not suitable for observing objects at a very close range. - Limited Low Light Performance: While good, the 30mm lenses may not perform as well in very low light conditions compared to larger models. - Not Easily Tripod Adaptable: Unlike many roof prism binoculars, adapting these to a tripod is not straightforward. Key Features to Look for in Hunting Binoculars When shopping for hunting binoculars, it’s easy to get lost in the jargon. Magnification, objective lens diameter, field of view… it can all seem a bit much. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Let’s simplify it: Magnification Power Think of magnification as your superpower. It brings distant objects closer. For hunting, 8x to 10x magnification is usually the sweet spot. It offers enough zoom to see far but not so much that you can’t keep your target in view, especially with shaky hands in the cold morning air. Objective Lens Diameter The objective lens is the one at the front of the binoculars, farthest from your eyes. Its size determines how much light gets in, which is crucial for early morning or late evening hunts. A larger diameter (measured in millimeters) means brighter images. However, bigger lenses also mean heavier binoculars, so aim for a balance. A 42mm lens is often a good compromise between light gathering and portability. Field of View Field of view is all about how wide an area you can see through your binoculars at a certain distance. It’s especially important when tracking moving animals. A wider field of view makes it easier to follow your target without losing sight of it. Durability and Waterproofing Let’s face it, hunting isn’t a walk in the park. You need binoculars that can withstand a drop, resist water, and not fog up in cold weather. Look for rugged, rubber-armored bodies, waterproof construction, and fog-proof lenses. Weight and Portability You’ll be carrying these binoculars all day, so weight matters. Lightweight models are your friend, but don’t sacrifice optical quality for a few ounces. Find a pair that feels good in your hands and on your neck. Optical Quality and Lens Coatings The heart of any binocular is its optical quality. High-definition (HD) optics, extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, and multi-coated lenses reduce glare, enhance color fidelity, and improve clarity. These features might bump up the price, but the difference in image quality is worth every penny. Types of Hunting Binoculars Not all binoculars are created equal, and when it comes to hunting, the type you choose can make a big difference. Roof Prism vs. Porro Prism In the world of binoculars, there are two main types of prism designs: roof and Porro. Roof prism binoculars are sleek, compact, and easy to handle, making them great for hunters on the move. Porro prism binoculars, on the other hand, tend to be bulkier but offer a wider field of view and generally better depth perception. Both have their merits, so consider what’s more important to you: portability or a slightly richer viewing experience. Compact Binoculars for On-the-Move Hunters If you’re the type who likes to stalk your prey or cover a lot of ground, compact binoculars might be your best bet. They’re light, easy to carry, and quick to whip out at a moment’s notice. Just remember, smaller binoculars usually mean smaller lenses, so you might sacrifice some image quality, especially in low light. Full-Sized Binoculars for Stationary Observation For hunters who prefer to wait in blinds or stands, full-sized binoculars are the way to go. They offer the best image quality, brightest views, and most comfortable eye relief (that’s the distance from the eyepiece lens to your eye, by the way). Yes, they’re heavier, but when you’re sitting still, the extra weight is less of an issue. Understanding Binocular Specifications Alright, let’s decode those cryptic numbers you see on binoculars. You’ll often find them listed as something like “10×42.” The first number (10x) is the magnification power, and the second number (42) is the objective lens diameter in millimeters. Easy, right? Importance of Eye Relief for Hunters with Glasses If you wear glasses, eye relief is a big deal. It’s the distance you can hold the binoculars away from your eyes while still seeing the full field of view. Look for binoculars with longer eye relief (15mm or more) so you can keep your glasses on and still see everything clearly. Choosing the Right Binoculars for Different Hunting Scenarios Hunting environments vary wildly, from dense forests to open plains and rugged mountains. Each setting demands a different approach when selecting binoculars. Binoculars for Various Hunting Environments - Forested Areas: In dense woods, light is limited, and distances are shorter. Look for binoculars with a larger objective lens (42mm or more) to maximize light gathering. A lower magnification (8x) helps with a wider field of view, making it easier to spot game in thick cover. - Open Plains: Here, distance is your challenge. Higher magnification (10x or more) lets you scan vast areas and spot distant game. Just remember, higher magnification can make for a shakier image, so consider a model that’ Read the full article

Spotting Scope Numbers: What do they mean?
Tumblr media
Let's talk about spotting scope numbers. Ever wondered what they mean? I did too, when I was a beginner. Take a spotting scope with 20-60x80 written on it.
Tumblr media
Example: 20-60x80
20-60 is the Magnification range The first set of numbers (20-60) represents the magnification range. This means you can adjust the zoom from 20 to 60 times closer than your naked eye. It's like having superhuman vision! - Everything seen through the spotting scope will appear 20-60 times larger than with the naked eye. When it comes to magnification, there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. What's considered "good" really depends on what you're using the scope for.  - Birdwatchers might prefer a lower magnification for a wider field of view. - Hunters might want a higher magnification to spot animals from a distance. 80 is the Objective Lens Size The number after the 'x,' in this case, 80, represents the diameter of the objective lens in millimeters.  A larger objective lens lets in more light, giving you clearer and brighter images, especially in low-light conditions.
Example: 4x32
4 is the Magnification Just like above, the number before the X is the magnification range.  - In this case, there is no range. The magnification is a fixed 4 times zoom.  - The magnification is not adjustable; everything viewed through the scope will be 4 times closer than with the naked eye. 32 is the Objective Lens Size The number after the X is always the objective lens diameter in millimeters. In this case, 32mm.
Magnification
What range to get? - Bird watching: A spotting scope with a magnification range of 20-60X is perfect. This range offers enough detail for most birding situations. - Hunter/Shooter: Depends on the distance of the target. For targets at 100 yards, a magnification of 20-40X is sufficient. But if you're spotting targets/animals at greater distances, you'll want a scope that can go up to 60X. - General use: 15-60X is a good range. This gives you the flexibility to spot details at various distances. Higher magnification isn't always better. As the magnification increases, the image quality can degrade, especially if the scope isn't expensive like a Swarovski.
Objective Lens Diameter
The objective lens diameter is the size of the front lens on a spotting scope. This lens captures light, and a larger lens can capture more light.  Most spotting scopes have an objective lens ranging from 50mm to 80mm.  The size you choose depends on what you're using the scope for and the conditions in which you'll be using it. - Bird Watcher: A spotting scope with an objective lens size of 60-70mm is optimal for bird watchers. It provides a good balance between brightness, clarity, and portability. - Hunter/Shooter: If you're a hunter or shooter who needs a clear view in varying light conditions, a larger objective lens (65-85mm) is a better choice. Remember, though, these scopes can be heavier, so if weight is a concern, you may want to stick to a 60-65mm lens. - Other Uses: A smaller objective lens (50-60mm) will work for casual nature observation or if portability is a primary concern. They're lighter and easier to carry but might not perform as well in low-light conditions.
Wrapping it Up
So, understanding spotting scope numbers will help you choose the right scope for your needs.  Whether you're birdwatching, hunting, or just exploring, knowing how to read these numbers will make everything much easier. There are a few more key terms you need to know: field of view, eye relief, and exit pupil. I've kept this article focused on the main spotting scope numbers - magnification and objective lens diameter. If you're unfamiliar with the other terms, check out my beginner's guide. There, you'll find all the essential information to get you started. Read the full article

New Year Offer Safari Firearms Rifle Scopes Australia
Tumblr media
Hunting can be super fun and exciting only when you have the right kind of equipments. Just imagine a trip when you are there in the forest and your rifle is not loading properly or your scope is not focusing properly or a simple thing like you are not wearing clothes which are not comfortable. Anything can go wrong if your initial preparation is not good and any experienced hunter can vouch for the fact as to how preparation is the key to any successful hunting trip. If you happen to be in Australia you are probably into hunting and are possibly in look out for good quality firearms and related accessories for the same. Though one can go down to the store in his or her locality, it is difficult to find all that you need at one place and even if you find it the quality might not be good. So what do you do? Browse through the sites? No, that too would take up a lot of time, unless you browse the site for Safari Firearms Australia, one of the nation’s leading distributor of firearms, gun parts, optics, apparel, reloading supplies and a large variety of hunting and shooting gears. You always have such cool pictures of animals, do you have any tips for finding them?
Thank you so much, anon!
Obviously, a good deal of finding wildlife is based on luck, but I try to plan trips as well as possible for finding good stuff. Before any trip, I like to check various websites such as Mammal Watching, eBird, and iNaturalist, and often my first stop on any given trip is to the local ranger station, etc. to ask about what's being seen where. Often, it helps to have more specific questions for rangers, for example: "where have badgers been seen most recently? Is one of the prairie dog towns better for them than the others?" rather than simply "where can I see wildlife?" because you get more in-depth answers that way.
If you're going somewhere where the wildlife is inaccessible without booking a tour (nesting colonies, anything marine, etc.) I would recommend booking tours, but otherwise I tend to find that self-guided wildlife watching is more productive than group tours, provided you know where to go.
Most of all, get out on the road as early as possible! Most of my wildlife sightings have occurred driving, not hiking, and during dawn and dusk. Dawn isn't inherently more productive than dusk, but it is almost always less crowded, so you're more likely to encounter a cool animal along the side of the road at 5 a.m. before another car has spooked it than you would be at 8 p.m.
Finally, if you have the money for it, a spotting scope really helps find wildlife, especially if you're looking for wolves, bears, and other megafauna that you can scope for in distant meadows. Because of the previous "crepuscular hours whenever possible" advice, I highly recommend getting whichever scope is best for low light. I know personally Swarovskis are life-changing in that department, but if you're looking in a lower price range, I think Vortex is also very good for low light scanning.

🎆TINA’S 30TH🎆
Tina Chen was a super lowkey kinda girl. She was definitely fun and easygoing, but to be honest, she was the kind of person who enjoyed celebrating other people’s birthdays more than her own.
Suffice to say, she didn’t expect any grand celebration for her thirtieth. Everyone said it was the big one… but to her it was just another day. Another year over. Same old, same old.
Her mother didn’t seem to think so.
Mama Chen insisted on smothering her in kisses and making an elaborate breakfast and getting all their relatives to speak to Tina over the phone. It was very unlike her family to have such overt displays of affection. Perhaps they were all getting sentimental with age.
By the time she extricated herself, she was almost an hour late for work. She wasn’t too worried though. Hank was an extremely understanding boss.
But when she arrived at the station, Tina discovered utter chaos had broken out.
Nines came running up to her anxiously.
“Where on earth have you been, T! We’ve been trying to get hold of you for ages!”
She grabbed her phone and found a long series of missed calls and angry texts from Gavin and Hank and Fowler and apparently everyone in the department.
“Shit! I didn’t get any of these!! I’m so sorry! I don’t know how! I had my ringer on-”
Nines grabbed her by the elbow and steered her into a briefing room before she could finish. There was an intricate map on the projector screen and Hank was deep in the middle of an explanation.
Gavin impatiently tugged at her to sit down and shoved the case file into her lap. She opened it guiltily. All pleasant birthday thoughts receded to the very back of her mind.
Apparently a dormant serial killer had just resurfaced. His thoroughly unique MO had been identified on a body found the night before, and the DPD had reason to believe he was active and about to strike again.
Tina’s heart raced with fear and anticipation. She paid rapt attention to Hank’s instructions and soon found herself behind the wheel of a police cruiser.
She absently noted that it was the very first one she’d driven as a rookie patrol officer. Out of sheer habit, she popped open the glove compartment to retrieve her shades.
Tina kicked herself when she remembered that she’d lost her favourite rayban aviators on a recent mission… and that it would make no sense for them to be in this car anyway… but then her fingers curled around a very familiar shape. A suede leather case.
She opened it to find shades identical to the ones she’d loved and lost. Before she could think any deeper, Gavin got into the passenger seat and barked at her to drive. Tina put the sunglasses on and floored the accelerator.
At the location, Nines and Connor had already begun scoping the building and scanning evidence. Both gave her brief but tense smiles. She’d hoped Connor would at least wish her a happy birthday, but her boyfriend was busy knocking on floorboards and looking for hidden compartments.
What had she expected? Human or android, all the men she dated had turned out to be as obtuse as her father. With a sigh, Tina got on her knees and joined him.
“What do you think made him do it again?”
“You tell me, baby. You’re the one with the criminology degree.”
Their eyes met and the warmth of his chocolate brown irises made her irritation fade away. They fell into an easy pattern of swapping hypotheses while scrubbing for evidence. The whole thing was incredibly reminiscent of the first case they’d worked together on, and fallen in love while solving.
After searching the house from top to bottom, they ended up with an impressive stack of evidence. Gifts from a secret admirer intended for a hapless victim. Jewellery, red-bottomed shoes, perfume and a lot of other trinkets that were strangely to Tina’s exact liking.
The killer’s purported next mark was a mystery woman who seemed to embody Tina’s personality entirely. A shiver went down her spine as she contemplated the idea.
Just as they were about to leave the house. Nines came hurtling down the stairs with the ultimate clue. A midnight blue dress with no back. It was draped beautifully over a wire hanger, with a note attached to it.
Gavin seized the note and read aloud the place and time indicated. That very night. At the swankiest jazz lounge in Detroit. The elusive killer would make an appearance.
After ten years spent trying to catch him in vain, the DPD would finally have a clear, undeterred shot. Tina could hardly believe it.
Gavin thrust the dress into Tina’s hands. The implication was clear.
She looked at the others. Hank shrugged. Nines smiled apologetically. Connor cocked his head to the left and arched an eyebrow, as if to say… chicken?
Officer Tina Chen was many things but that’s one thing she wasn’t.
So it came to be that on the evening of her thirtieth birthday, instead of celebrating with at least a quiet glass of wine at home, Tina was squeezing herself into an evening gown and getting ready to play killer’s bait.
She considered throwing her hands up and walking away, but then her phone buzzed with a series of messages from Captain Fowler. After showing up late to her shift, she wasn’t about to risk getting into his bad books.
Tina took a deep breath and slipped on the sparkly heels found in the house… put on the big golden hoop earrings… slipped the Swarovski chain around her neck… and spritzed the expensive perfume all over her body.
She made her way into the lounge and found a place to stand. Discreet, but obvious to anyone looking. Right at the edge of the bar. As the music began and other patrons began to dance, a false sense of calm flooded her. Tina had to sharply remind herself to focus. This was an undercover mission. A big one. The whole team was counting on her.
A drink slid towards her. A lychee daiquiri.
Simple, but quite specific. It was her personal favourite. Her eyes widened but before she could ask, the bartender pointed along the bar.
Tina’s blood turned to ice.
It was time.
She went over the mission brief again and again in her head. She revised every protocol, every bit of police scenario planning, every word of caution from her senior officers.
Tina steeled herself and turned slowly.
The man was standing closer than expected. Before she could react… either fight or flight… an arm curled around her waist and warm lips pressed against her own.
Her eyes fluttered shut and Tina sank into the familiar sensation.
“Happy birthday, baby.”
Tina opened her eyes and found herself Connor’s embrace. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him in relief.
As she looked over his shoulder, she spotted his fellow conspirators. Nines, Gavin, Hank, Fowler, Chris, Person, Sixty, Allen, the whole damn DPD it seemed… all her childhood friends… and of course… Mama, Papa and Grandma Chen. All dressed up and smiling mischievously.
Connor swiftly manoeuvred her onto the dance floor, and so began a night to truly remember.
Tina’s thirtieth.
