One Swedish expression that I enjoy is "käpprätt åt helvete", meaning straight as a kane to hell. Not only did the thing go bad, it went as bad as it could in the least amount of time, there was not even a grain of success made. It went to jail without passing "go".

Swedish word of the day:

kramsnö

literally "hugging snow", snow that is adhesive enough that you can form snowballs, snowmen etc from it

krama = hug, but also squeeze or press together

Are we forgetting that she is so insecure about her Swedish that she doesn't even try speaking it with her best friend?

Nu går vi mot ljusare tider

Nu gar vi mot ljusare tider! A phrase for the optimists. So what does it mean?

- Nu = Now

- Går = Go / walk

- Vi = We

- Mot = Towards / against (complicated one, wait for another post)

- Liusare = Brighter

- Tider = Times

"Now we go towards brighter times", which sounds very optimistic. But it's also a fact.

The darkest day of the year is now behind us. So from now on, the days will only get longer and longer. More minutes of light, every day!

For example, In Stockholm, by the end of the year we will have 8 MORE minutes of SUNLIGHT compared to now!

jag har varit lära svenska sedan 2017, men det har inte tills de senaste månaderna att jag har känt som jag kan faktiskt tala med folk ordentligt och utan se till att med google translate hela tiden (förutom när jag kontroll den hela texten). ändå, min tal är inte perfekt, till exempel jag ofta tala i direkt översättning, och min pronunciation och lyssnande är långt ifrån perfekt. men jag är förbättras varje dag, och jag är glad med hur långt jag har komma.

(yo dije) Oouuuufffff the emotional strain this show has put me through!

I started learning swedish for no damn reason. I married into a big Mexican family so my ass is already learning Spanish on Duolingo. Dou doesn't know which language to remind me to study every time it sends me reminder notifications. It's like "girlie you need to pick one. I know your ADHD brain capacity will not remember both of these 🙄" like chill Duo. I need to learn both, for obvious reasons

Also, should I be buying a fragrance?? No, no I shouldn't. Did I buy the fragrance?? Absolutely I did. And I'm going to continue spending too much money on that ridiculously talented human's brand.

I've only been here for like two months and now cue a new obsession. Obvi Omar is gorgeous, but edvin really grows on you and he is just the most precious and talented actor. He's so pretty and interesting. Gah.

I can't with this show. It ruined my life (no it didn't), made me learn how to use Reddit and now I'm back on Tumblr everyday for the first time in like 10 years. And y'all KILL ME with the knowledge. I'm obsessed with the intelligence and helpfulness of this little community. Y'all are some of the nicest humans, I swear. 🥹😍

Okay I'm just rambling now but no one in my personal life understands, so y'all are basically everything to me in this community.

I've been thinking of learning Swedish as the new Soul Riders trilogy doesn't seem to get released in English any time soon, but I would like to read them so much! My question is, is there anyone who has been learning the language and could give some advices which books are good to start with? Or maybe is there any native speaker who'd be willing to help me? ☺️
