Rolling her eyes at his comment, she huffed. Scarlett had been getting much more annoyed with Devon due to her pregnancy. “I’m sorry,” she was obviously being sarcastic, “I must have misheard you because it almost sounded like you were invaliding my sacrifice to carry your child.” Scarlett looked over at him, arms crossed over her seven-month baby bump. “We’ll get there. And we will pull over as many times as I need to. And you’ll still rub my feet later.”

Every time Scarlett opened her mouth Devon grew less sure he was going to be able being a parent with her. Each month she’d grown harder to deal with. “I’m not the one that wanted to keep it, so don’t start with me,” he growled under his breath. She’d grown even more bossy, and obnoxious to the point Devon wanted to slam his head against the wall. “Yes, dear,” he grit out, pulling off the highway and into the parking lot of the first McDonald’s he saw. “I’ll wait for you here. Get food if you want.”

Drunk In Love || Damien, Jay & Scarlett

As Scarlett listened to them talk, she smiled and walked into the room. She looked down at Jay, holding a water bottle. Instead of getting him a cup of water, she got him a bottle. It was easier to spill water in a cup, and she didn’t want to bother with having to change the sheets.

“How ya feeling, baby?” She reached up to softly brush his hair off of his forehead, taking a seat next to him. “Sit up, you don’t want to spell the water down your shirt.” Scarlett smiled, softly gesturing for him to get up. “But lean back on the headboard, please."

Looking over at Damien, she softly pat the spot next to her. She wanted him to stay in the room, thinking it would be easier for both of them to keep an eye on him.

Jay grumbled a bit at having to move but did as he was told, leaning back as comfortably as he could onto the headboard while settling against Scarlett. He took the water bottle from her and chugged some of its contents, rather relieved with the refreshing feeling it had to offer.

He was starting to feel a bit drowsy, yawning and lolling his head onto the girl’s shoulder. “Sleepyyyy,” he mumbled, resting his cheek against her. Damien joined them on the bed not too long later, kicking off his shoes and settling next to Scarlett. He reached over and playfully pinched Jay’s nose, who scrunched his face up in return.

“Baby boy wanna go to sleep now?” Damien asked in a rather mocking tone, but nonetheless, Jay nodded, tired eyes looking up at the both of them. “Stay with me?”

It wasn't too odd for Scarlett to miss a day of school, but she should have at least texted him first before flaking out during the day. After classes, he headed straight for her house, attempting to call her phone the whole way through. God, was she gonna get some lip from him about this later.

He knocked on the front door, a bit impatiently as well from how loudly he was hitting it. "Scar? Scar, open up! You there?"

@sxjxa Widened blue eyes stared at him, trying to search his eyes for some kind of sign as to how serious he was. “Yes, Daddy,” She breathed out, hoping she wouldn’t regret this. “Remind me.”

Devon grinned at Scar before grabbing hold of her waist, tightly. “I think you’ve been spending too much time away from me,” he had been on a few business trips the past couple of weeks, and figured Scar had forgotten about him a little.

Look How They Shine || Damien & Scarlett

Damien relaxed on the roof of their house -- though slanted, it was still stable enough to stand on or lie down without rolling off. He settled onto the blanket beneath him, head rested under his arms as Scarlett’s head lay atop his stomach. He supposed he shouldn’t have gotten too excited over the idea of a stargazing date, but... he just couldn’t help it. There was something so mesmerizing and beautiful about those twinkling lights in the sky, bringing him a sense of comfort, knowing they were a constant in the universe (give or take a few billion years).

Sharing this quiet moment with the girl he loved just made it all the more amazing, unable to wipe off the wide smile on his lips as he gazed up in awe at the blanket of dark blue in the sky, where the dew drops of light hung above. “Man... we should invest in a telescope. This would’ve been... even more perfect,” Damien spoke softly, as if afraid to break the reverie of awe.

Jay, what's your best memory with Scar? With how long you've known her, which stands out the most?

“You’re... gonna think I’m really cheesy and cliche and all that, but uh... She-- we went to prom together, in high school. And... her boyfriend beat me up because I was basically her date. That’s not the memory, okay, but it’s relevant to it. It was more of the events after, just the fact that Scarlett... stayed with me the whole night, taking care of me and my sorry ass. 

I knew good and well she could’ve gone with her boyfriend then, left me and maybe avoid getting hurt herself that night. I would’ve understood, but she... she stuck by me. The look of worry and concern -- and maybe anger because I tried to fight back -- on her face made me guilty then, but I also saw, like, this look of... love. Not necessarily like, romantic love since I’m sure she didn’t feel that way for me at the time, but it was more than just friendship love. It was like... we transcended something deeper than that. When I realized we had a much deeper connection than being best friends. There was something in her, about her, that struck me as... this girl, she was never going to leave me, no matter what happened. Because she cared for me. Because she loved me.

And I saw that all, just by looking at her eyes.”

In order for me to fully understand him, to fully love him, I had to bend those lines into shapes that allowed me to empathize.
