WIP Intro | Tails & The Jade Bridge
Tumblr media
It's time: Tails is leaving to start his own adventure. He's going to miss his big brother, but it's time to see what he's capable of alone. And what better way to start than by investigating an anomaly in his cutting-edge research into interdimensional space? But though Tails is ready to take on the world, is he really ready to take on two?
Tails & The Jade Bridge is an indie fan comic/passion project about siblings, coming of age, and the limits of what one person can do on their own, loosely inspired by Sonic Frontiers, the 1996 OVA, the IDW comics, the Sonic Riders series, and everything else I love about StH!
Will be released on tumblr, one page at a time, as I finish them.

141 gossiping about Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley for roughly 3,000 words idk titles are hard
Price was the first to notice. Priding himself on being incredibly observant, especially when it came to his boys.
He noticed that whenever they had a break from trainings or meetings, he’d somehow always find the two of you in a room together. Never close enough to give him reason to say anything. You scribbling notes on a patient report at one table, Ghost at another, his chair angled just enough so that he could watch you from the corner of his eye.
Noticed the way Ghost’s hand rested on the small of your back for a heartbeat when you entered a doorway before him. Just a brush of his massive hand on you, quick enough to be mistaken for an accidental touch.
Noticed how Ghost’s eyes seemed to always flick to you from across the mess hall. Not often, but enough for Price to casually turn his head and see that same nurse Ghost seemed to have a preference for.
At first, Price thought he could help by being a wingman of sorts. When Ghost took damage on a mission, Price would escort him to medbay and watch as he dismissed nurse after nurse until you were finally available to treat him. Price lingered as long as he could before you inevitably waved him away, cheekily reminding him you always took good care of his team and that you’d have ‘Lieutenant Riley’ back in no time. The only thing he could catch was the way Ghost’s shoulders relaxed by a hair’s breadth when you drew the curtain shut behind you.
He tried again during a meeting with his boys. Suggesting they bring a medic on a mission with them. Said something about how it would be better to have the option of a patch-up readily available. Keep his team fighting fit in real time instead of having to wait until they came back to base. Price saw the way Ghost tensed slightly in his seat, the muscles in his jaw twitching under his balaclava.
The notion was quickly vetoed. Ghost grumbling something about not wanting to babysit any more than he already does. How it’s ultimately more paperwork he doesn’t want to have to deal with.
He tried once more, going to Ghost’s office one evening. Almost turning tail once he realized how ridiculous it was to be this insistent on figuring out if his Lieutenant had some boyish crush on the sweet nurse he always seemed to be lingering around. But ultimately decided that it was good practice to know more about his team personally. Better bonding meant better interaction on the field, right?
He asked Ghost to redo some paperwork. Add a ‘next of kin’ to his file in the event that something happened and they needed to alert someone. Ghost looked a little suspicious, shrugging off the request.
“Left it off for a reason, Captain.”
He said gruffly, waving a hand. Barely looking up from his desk.
Price pursed his lips, shifting his weight slightly.
“You sure, Simon? Haven’t got anyone that’d be interested to know what happened to you?”
Ghost rubbed the bridge of his nose, like the conversation was more trouble than it was worth, before shrugging once more. Finally looking up from his desk and leaning back slightly in his chair.
“You planning on shipping me off somewhere and not picking me back up?”
A small chuckle from Price. A shake of his head.
“Can’t say I am.”
“Cheers, then. Leave it off.”
This quelled Price’s curiosity for a while, unable to dream up any other reason to try and force Ghost to indulge him. It no doubt hurt his ego a bit, thinking about how his Lieutenant and one of his closest friends was so dead set on keeping his personal life so closely guarded. He’d push the feelings aside, chalk it up to being jaded by his work. Over-involved in the lives of Soap and Gaz. It was probably good for Simon to have something sacred.
Soap wasn’t as easily deterred once he caught on. Not as immediately perceptive as the others, but he knew Ghost well enough to know his tells.
It was after a long mission. Months long. Grueling, shitty, exhausting work. They got back in the early evening, mercifully spared from a debrief until the following day. Soap somehow ended up dragging Ghost to a dive bar a few blocks from base. Trying to sound persuasive when he mentioned that it was a Friday night and they deserved a few drinks and some female attention after all this time going without.
And they did get attention. Two good looking military men sitting at the bar were bound to. Soap knew that Ghost wasn’t one to play the field, but this was a bit frigid even for him. Ignoring girls who came up and tried to strike conversation. Rolling his eyes, or huffing a sigh like it was a chore to even dismiss them, drumming his fingers on the wall of his glass like he’s bored. It was baffling.
What was even more baffling was the way that Ghost’s knee bounced slightly against the stool. An infinitesimally small movement, but the way it caught Johnny’s eye made it seem like Ghost was all but jumping up and down. He looked almost anxious. Itching to get up and leave.
“Fuck’s wrong with you?”
Ghost’s head jerked toward Johnny, cold eyes narrowing in a way that would have been terrifying years ago- before he’d gotten used to it.
“Come again?”
“Got somewhere to be, have you?”
He sounds almost indignant. Like he can’t believe what he’s seeing. Ghost is stand-offish by nature, but this is a caliber he hasn’t yet encountered. Almost enough to be offensive. To make him question the quality of his company.
“Maybe I do. What’s it to you?”
Ghost grumbled, killing the contents of his glass with a final mouthful. Setting it back on the counter and moving to drum his fingers on the bar.
“Been out of the country for months and you expect me to believe you’ve got plans tonight?”
This earned a sigh, low enough to pass as a growl.
“You keeping my social calendar now, then?”
He stood, digging through his wallet for a moment before slapping some cash down on the table next to his empty glass. Not giving Johnny an opportunity to lodge any further complaints against him. Before he nodded his goodnight and slipped out of the bar. Mumbling something about needing to get back to his flat and check on some things.
Soap couldn’t get his mind around it. Ghost was elusive, sure, but again; something seemed off. He was calm, cool, and collected. Wouldn’t be caught dead manifesting his impatience physically. The fidgeting and twitching in his seat. The first place Soap’s mind went was maybe Ghost was dying? That’d be the only reasonable explanation for his behavior. But even then, it seemed a bit extreme.
The next day after the debrief, which was nearly as brutal as the deployment itself, Soap was still so in his head about Ghost’s behavior he almost didn’t notice the pretty nurse who seemed to be waiting for someone at the end of the hall. In fact, he was so stuck in his own mind, he only caught a fleeting glimpse of Ghost’s back rounding the corner with the nurse at his side. Hushed conversation disappearing with them. A softer, much more pleasant voice than Simon’s.
He debated whether or not to follow them, maybe answer the questions that’d been plaguing his mind. Ultimately, he decided in favor of it. Padding down the hall behind the duo who seemed to be headed back to Simon’s office. They weren’t walking closely enough to touch, but Soap immediately picked up on the tension between them. Like the distance was serving some sort of purpose.
Soap lingered in the hallway for a few minutes after the two disappeared into Ghost’s office, trying to sort the pieces of the puzzle he’d barely began collecting. He ultimately decided to go the route he was most comfortable with. Not one for sneaking about, he simply strode up to the office door and swung it open.
You were sat at one of the chairs in front of Simon’s desk, him standing with his arms folded over his chest next to you. Not compromising enough for Johnny’s taste, but he still put on a wide grin and nodded to you.
“Forget how to knock?”
Ghost’s voice was calm enough, but his eyes were shooting daggers straight through Johnny. You looked stiff as a board, chewing the inside of your lip through the tight smile you were giving him.
“Sorry, L.T. Needed to know if you’re still on for trainings this afternoon.”
He didn’t miss the way your eyes flicked to Ghost, communicating something that he couldn’t quite decipher wordlessly before you began studying your nails in your lap.
Ghost cleared his throat, rolling his tongue in his cheek. Growling something obscene under his breath. The agitation rolling off of him in waves.
“No. Got another assignment.”
And with that, Soap was all but thrown from the office. Querying about this ‘new assignment’ the whole way. Simon crowding him to the door until he finally snapped it shut on his nose.
He heard later that day Ghost was seen in medbay with a toolkit swearing at an X-Ray machine that had been giving you trouble for a month. After that, Soap was on the two of you like a fly on shit. Never missing an opportunity to bring you up to Ghost or vise versa. Mock-innocently saying something to Ghost in passing at dinner about you. Asking if he fancied you. When he said no, Johnny shrugged and nodded. Saying he was glad because he had plans to ask you out the next time he was injured.
That comment landed Soap in the bay sooner than expected. Escorting him to a different nurse’s exam area and standing guard the entire time his black eye was being iced. Berating him for not being able to block a few punches when they had sparred after dinner.
And Gaz, sweet boy that he is, was always more emotionally in-tune. Observant about the little things. Able to pick up on queues Soap and Price may have missed over the years. He was keen as he was quiet, keeping all his little discoveries to himself. Over the years, he’d created a small arsenal of moments he wasn’t sure were significant enough to bring up. Things he could have talked himself into imagining if he thought about them hard enough. Not wanting to jump to conclusions about anything.
But he noticed the incredibly subtle tan line on Ghost’s left hand. Noticed the way he tapped his foot impatiently when the debrief after a long deployment ran long. Noticed the way you always seemed to be around the yard when they touched down after a mission. The way your shoulders dropped when you saw all four of them had returned home. Like you had just been relieved the duty of holding up the sky.
He didn’t immediately connect the dots. Initially thinking that you’d just taken a special liking to the task force. They were some of your most frequent visitors, after all. Price had all but claimed you as their own. Specially requesting that you were the only one to patch their wounds, claiming the other nurses couldn’t hold a flame to your skill.
He didn’t mind. Came to enjoy the little chats the two of you had when the curtains around the cot were drawn. The little kikis you had where you chatted about anything and everything. Complaining about your jobs, irritating patients, botched missions, the morsels of gossip from around base.
One day, after a particularly nasty skirmish on a mission, all four of the men had gnarly wounds. You looked a bit more tired than usual. A bit more on-edge. Your answers were a bit more flat than they usually were. So the first part of the assessment was left mostly silent spare for a few soft “thank you’s” on his part.
It was only when you were bandaging a wound on his thigh did he notice the shape of a ring on your left hand under your glove. A thin band that wrapped neatly around your finger.
“Didn’t know you were married, doc.”
It was a passing comment, more just to spare him the agony of trying to hide his soft groans of pain in the thick silence.
You hummed your acknowledgment, focused more on working sutures through his skin neatly than anything else.
“Lucky bloke. Hope he’s good to you.”
It wasn’t flirty or predatory, like so many of the soldiers could be. A genuine thought. He’d always thought you were sweet. Easy to chat with, always offering him a smile and a chirped greeting when the two of you passed in the hall. Thought you deserved someone to share in your kindness.
You smiled, brow still furrowed slightly in your focus while tying off the stitches.
“He does alright.”
You chuckled softly, straightening on your stool and rolling back just slightly so you could meet his eye.
“All these years and you never mentioned. I’m hurt.”
He words came with a practiced ease, slipping back into your usual playful chatter without missing a beat. Flashing a coy grin as he carefully flexed and relaxed his leg. Getting a feel for the newly patched wound.
You rolled the gloves off your hands and tossed them into the bin. Standing from your stool to scribble a few notes on his chart.
“Not something that ever came up.”
“Now it has. He have a name? How long you been together?”
You chuckled once more, looking over your shoulder at him with an arched brow. A little skeptical of his curiosity.
“A good while.”
He noticed the way you evaded his former question, like you’d done it before. It only fueled his curiosity.
“You worried I’ll know him? Or are you embarrassed? Not much of a looker?”
This earned an amused snort from you, turning away from the chart you’d been working on.
“Nothing wrong with wanting to keep my personal life personal, is there?”
You winked at him, pushing open the curtain that divided the small exam area from the rest of the bay.
He made a small sound of protest, making no move to stand from the cot just yet.
“Alright, forget it. Didn’t even want to know anyway.”
He sounded like a child being denied a sweet. Even playing up the act with a small pout on his mouth.
You tutted softly, conjuring up the best mock-sympathetic look you could before motioning for him to stand.
“We’ll talk later. Captain’ll have my hide if I keep you away a moment longer than is necessary.”
Another sound of protest, followed by a throaty groan as he finally pushed up off the bed. Unsure if he was being dramatic or if the aftermath of the mission had truly gotten to him that bad. Always a flare for the dramatics, him.
He muttered his thanks, cupping your shoulder in his hand as he trudged out. Making you promise to have a proper chat with him later.
He lingered in the bay, allowing himself a few moments peace before getting back to work. Just as he finally turned to leave, he saw Ghost moving stiffly- like he was trying to downplay a limp- toward your little exam area. Though for some reason, the scene looked a bit strange to him. He couldn’t help but peek in.
He caught the way you watched him lumber over with big, worried eyes. The way your nails dug into your palms until he was finally within arms reach. The way you quickly glanced around to see if anyone was paying the two of you any attention before your hands flew to his neck, fingers slipping expertly under the hem of his mask and yanking it up over his nose. Not rough or angry, but with the kind of urgency that suggested you may die if you didn’t see a sliver of his skin. Make absolutely certain he was truly there with you.
The most jarring part- Ghost actually allowing you to touch the mask. Allowing your little hands to breach his personal space. Hands that would have easily been dwarfed by his own, swallowed up and twisted or shoved away like he had seen happen so many times in sparring matches with prospect soldiers. But Ghost just let it happen.
It was a flurry of movement, so fast that Gaz was certain he could have blinked and missed it. Frozen watching the two of you from just behind another exam area. Feeling like he was intruding without even meaning to.
And then he saw the way Ghost’s big arms snaked around your waist, drawing you flush to his front. You leaning up onto your toes to bring your face closer to the Lieutenant’s. A fervid kiss. You flinging your arms around his neck. The way your shoulders shook. A small, choked sob that Gaz was all but certain he imagined. Drowned out for everyone else by the sounds of the bay.
He was almost shocked that the world continued to move after that. Shocked that something that seemed so monumental could happen tucked away into your barely private exam area. Shocked that your reunion hadn’t halted time and space for everyone else like it had for the two of you.
He felt dirty. Like he should go up and apologize for lingering and seeing what he saw. But he stayed rooted to the spot, finding it impossible to move.
Truly the most damning part was when he caught the quickest glimpse of your badge just before the curtain was tugged shut. The badge you kept carefully pinned to your uniform face-down for a reason he couldn’t fathom until now. Twisted free for just a moment and finally connecting the snippets of information he’d collected over the years.

Later that day, Y/N was immersed in her work that Dean sent her, that she didn’t realize it was already lunch. A knock at the door to her officer startled her, jumping back slightly in her seat, “Come in” She called out after clearing her throat while taking off her glasses.
Sam Wesson pushed open the door to her office, looking as casual as ever in his yellow polo shirt and khaki pants, his arms crossed over his broad chest, and a smirk on his lips.
"Working hard for Smithy, bitch?" Her best friend teased. Sam and Y/N went to highschool together 8 years ago, he transferred in junior year and y/n being the sweet person she was, took the nerd under her wing after some of her football buddies tried bullying Sam.
I know, typical cliche high school kids.
The two became inseparable after some time to the point people thought they were a couple. But it was far from the truth, they never saw each other that way, nor will they ever.
In fact, Sam was actually the one who told her about the vacancy at Sandover Bridge and Iron Inc, and put in her application for her. Sure, he was a mere cubicle worker, but he was a friendly guy who put in a good word for her.
“Shut up, dick” Y/N snorted, her eyes flickering over to the clock. Sam chuckled as he leaned against the doorway, still wearing his signature smirk, his arms still crossed over his broad chest. "Damn, you really got it bad. I almost forgot who I was talking to for a second" He teased, the hint of an amused tone seeping into his words.
Y/N rolled her eyes at his comment, knowing he was referring to her massive crush on Dean. But still she felt a pang of embarrassment at being called out by him. “I hate you." She replied, looking back down at her computer with feigned nonchalance.
She quickly closed it, pushing herself up from her seat. "Anyway, I'm hungry so come and have lunch with your bestie," Sam said, smiling widely.
Y/N rolled her eyes again, knowing that Sam was probably dying to pry some information about her progress with Dean and her "crush" on him. But despite his nosy and annoying nature, she couldn't deny her best friend.
"Alright fine, let's go, weirdo," Y/N grumbled as she reached for her purse. “But you’re paying” She quipped. Sam grinned, a mock offended look on his face as he placed his hand on his chest. "What kind of best friend do you take me for? Of course I'm paying." He said, exaggerating his tone.
“One sec, let me check with Dean to see if he wants anything- and before you poke fun at me, it’s my job” She warned Sam, who already had his mouth open at the mention of Dean.
She turned on her heels, walking out of her office with Sam on her tail, strutting over to Dean’s office door. She stood outside his office door, gently rapping her knuckles against the door, Y/N then pushed the door open.
“Hey Dean, Me and Sam are going to go get lunch. Do you want anything?” Y/N peered her head through his door. Looking like the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome, Dean was sitting behind his large mahogany desk, the very portrait of rugged good looks and professionalism.
He looked up from his work, his jade eyes landing on her, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips when he saw her. "Depends, are you buying?" He replied, a playful note in his voice.
She could feel her breath hitch in her throat, her eyes scanning his physique, but she quickly schooled the act. “Definitely” She smirked, she could see Sam from her peripheral view, making mock kissy faces and gagging noises. Luckily, Dean was out of earshot and eyeshot.
Dean chuckled at Y/N's response, shaking his head in amusement at her cheeky attitude. He leaned back in his chair, “I’m kidding doll, just get me my usual and a cup of coffee” Dean chuckled, twisting to his side in his chair to fish out his wallet from his front pocket.
He pulled out a 20 dollar bill, and held it out to her. “You still remember my usual, right?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. Sam let out a low whistle from behind Y/N, watching the exchange between the two with fascination.
Y/N flipped Sam off before behind the door which was still blocking half her body, “Quinoa salad, loaded with dressing, extra chicken and bacon with a side of kale chips” She repeated the order that was instilled in her head from day one with a playful eye roll. “And it’s on me, put that away” She insisted before closing the door.
Dean chuckled, a smirk playing on his lips as he watched her repeat his usual order without even batting an eye. He didn't even get a chance to argue about her paying. Shaking his head in disbelief, he reluctantly tucked the 20 back into his wallet.
Tumblr media
Sam and Y/N strolled into the nearby café, both of them taking a seat at a table near the corner of the room, waiting for their orders to be ready. Sam immediately leaned back in his chair, eyeing Y/N with a sly grin on his face.
"Alright, spill. What's happening between you and the boss man?" He asked, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. Sam rolled his eyes at her reply, clearly not buying it. "Yeah, sure. I totally believe that. You've only been swooning over the guy for like, a month, now" He deadpanned, leaning forward on the table, his chin cupped in his palms.
“First of all, fuck you.” She glared at him. “Second of all, enough about me. How’s Jo?” Y/N grinned widely. Jo is Sam’s longtime girlfriend and now fiancé. She was originally one of Y/N’s friends on her old cheer squad. When Sam and Y/N became friends, the freshman Jo developed a crush on Sam who was a junior at the time.
So when she joined the cheer squad, she voiced her crush on Sam to Y/N, who was of course very happy to hook the two up. Sam was initially hesitant since Jo was a freshman but the two grew to love each other. One thing led to another, and now they’re engaged. Jo was currently attending Ohio State, majoring Retail and Fashion Merchandising and she was in her last year.
Sam rolled his eyes at her comment, a smirk on his lips. "You just love to bring her up whenever I bother you, huh?" He leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his shaggy blond hair. "And I'm not the focus of this conversation, I'm tryna get something out of you"
But his expression softened at the mention of his fiancé, a lovesick grin spread on to his face. "She's doing great, thanks. Even though we live together, I miss her like hell, she's busy with school and I'm stuck in that damn cubicle working my ass off."
“Awww, you guys are sickeningly cute” Y/N teased, playfully grimacing. Sam chuckled, shaking his head in mock annoyance. "Har har, very funny. Someone's just salty because they're pining after our boss." He retorted, sticking his tongue out at her. Before Y/N could respond, the cashier called out to her. “Order for L/N”
"Finally!" Sam exclaimed, rubbing his hands together in mock excitement. Y/N got up from her seat, walking over to the counter, the smell of food wafting through her nostrils. The café had a homey feel to it, giving off a cozy vibe and putting her at ease the second she entered the cafe.
When the order was handed to her, she thanked the waiter and made her way back to the table, placing the bag down on the tabletop. “Let’s eat in my office, yeah?” She suggested to Sam after placing his food down infront of him. "Yeah, sure." Sam agreed, picking up his sandwich.
The two of them walked out of the café, heading back to the office building. Y/N took the elevator up to their floor, with Sam behind her. They headed down the hallway towards Y/N’s office, making casual chit chat. “Go wait for me, I’m just gonna drop this off for Dean” She said casually.
Y/N knocked on Dean’s office door, pushing it open when she heard a soft “Come in” from the other side of the door. Pushing the office door open, she walked in, seeing him sitting behind his desk, leaning over some important looking paperwork, his usual stoic expression on his face.
“Order up” Y/N mused, stalking over to his desk to drop the bag with the salad, chips and his cup of coffee down. As she placed the bag down, he looked up from his work. A small smile tugged at his lips when he saw her. “Thanks doll” He said, closing his laptop, his work temporarily pushed to the side.
He reached into the bag, pulling out the salad and the cup of coffee. He took a sip of his coffee, the bitter taste of caffeine hitting his tongue, and he let out a content sigh. "Perfect" He said, his jade eyes flickering back up to her.
“I know I am” She quipped, flashing him a sly wink before turning on her heels. “Call me if you need anything” She said over her shoulder, and with that, she left, making her way to her office to meet up with Sam.
Dean chuckled, shaking his head in amusement, watching her leave his office, her hips swaying as she walked out the door. He couldn’t help the way his eyes lingered on her as she walked out, but he quickly brought his attention back to his food.
He picked up his fork, twirling it in the salad, and took a bite, a satisfied hum escaping his lips. For a moment, he had forgotten all about work.
Tumblr media
Y/N walked back into her office and closed the door behind her. Sam was already sitting on her sofa, a half-eaten sandwich in one hand, phone in the other. He looked up from his phone as she walked in, an amused smirk on his face.
“Shut it” Y/N snapped playfully, pointing a finger at him as she paced over to the couch, settling next to him. Sam immediately put on a mock offended face, clutching his hand to his chest. "I didn't even say anything!” He protested, feigning innocence.
“Blah blah blah” She mused, opening up her food box. “So, have you and Jo set a date yet?” Y/N asked curiously, referring to Sam and Jo’s wedding. Sam took a bite of his sandwich, chewing slowly while he thought about her question.
He swallowed before answering. “We’re aiming for sometime in the summer. Maybe late June or early July since she’ll be finished with college by then” He replied, an excited expression on his face at the thought of marrying his long-time girlfriend.
“I like that idea, I suppose her old man doesn’t mind paying for the whole shindig” Y/N quipped, rolling her eyes at the thought of Jo’s dad, Bill Harvelle. The man was filthy stinking rich but didn’t have time for his family, preferring to throw money at his problems as if it’ll dissolve anything.
Sam chuckled, knowing that Y/N and Jo's dad didn't see eye to eye. "Yeah, you know he doesn't mind throwing money at anything. Even if it means buying Jo's love." He said, giving a small eye-roll of his own. He knew that Y/N and Bill had clashed a few times in the past, mostly over how he treated his daughter, and it always led to heated discussions.
“Once you and Jo are happy, that’s all that matters” She assured him with a small smile, a twinkle of mischief playing in her eyes. “Just know, as the maid of honor, I am so getting her wasted” She snorted.
Sam let out a hearty laugh, shaking his head in amusement. "Oh, I don't doubt that for one second" He chuckled, knowing that Y/N was going to go all out for the bachelorette party. "Just make sure she doesn't end up stripping on a table or something" He joked, a sparkle gleaming in his eyes.
“Have you met us? I’m gonna be stripping besides her” She quipped. A laugh erupted from Sam's lips, almost spitting out a mouthful of drink. He quickly composed himself, his face contorting in disgust. “Oh, god EW! Get that image out of my head” He groaned, blinking rapidly.
The thought of a naked Y/N made his stomach churn, and not in a good way, it’s like seeing his sister naked. Ew. Y/N cackled maniacally, watching Sam's reaction. "You're such a baby" She teased, sticking her tongue out at him as he pretended to gag.
Y/N’s expression softened at the mention of her brother. "He’s alright. He’s got exams coming up soon, so he's been cooped up in his room studying 24/7." She chuckled softly, her lips curving into a small smile. "He’s a little bundle of energy, though. Always got me on my toes. Got me driving him to football practice every weekend"
"He’s growing up way too fast." She continued, sighing wistfully. "Just the other day he was begging me to carry him around on my shoulders, and now he’s six foot and beating me in races." Sam chuckled, thinking about how much Billy had grown over the years.
He remembered the first time he met the boy, a shy little 7-year-old who hid behind his sister when strangers approached. But now he was a teenager, playing football and causing havoc.
“He's definitely gonna be a heartbreaker" Sam teased, a playful grin on his lips. “Oh, God. EW! Get that image out of my head!” Y/N groaned at the thought. "Aha! Now you know how I felt when you talked about stripping on a table" Sam shot back, a smug grin on his face. Y/N rubbed her temples, shooting her best friend a glare.
Tumblr media
As the work day came to a close, the sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows through the windows of the office building. Y/N was still working diligently at her desk, tidying up some last-minute paperwork.
Sam had already left a while back, heading off to meet Jo for a date. Y/N let out a soft sigh, taking a moment to stretch her stiffened muscles as she sat back in her chair, her eyes wandering across the empty office.
She glanced down at the time, noticing it was well past her usual working hours. She found herself wondering if her boss had gone home. He was known for coming in early and leaving late, but she was hoping he’d finally called it quits for the day.
-
Meanwhile, in his office, Dean sat behind his messy desk, papers scattered everywhere amongst a few empty coffee cups. He had been working nonstop for hours, his eyes strained from staring at the computer screen for so long.
He let out a tired sigh, running a hand through his hair as he leaned back in his chair, his body aching in protest. He knew he should probably call it a day and go home, but he still had so much work left to do. His gaze flickered over to his cell phone, the time flashing on the screen: 7:40pm.
He cursed under his breath, knowing that it was well past his working hours. Again.
So with that, he packed up his things. With his cell phone and his files in hand, Dean stood up from his desk with a groan, feeling the ache in his back and legs from sitting too long. He reached his arms out above his head and stretched, feeling the satisfying pop and crack of his joints.
He took one last glance around his messy office before switching off the lights and closing the door behind him.
The sound of heels clicking towards him made his head snap in the direction, his eyes now focused on Y/N, her head buried in her phone. Texting her brother to make sure he got home safe, Billy informed her that he was safe, having gotten a ride home from one of his friends. She told him to get a pizza for them for dinner since it’s late.
A small smirk tugged at the corners of Dean's mouth as he watched her approach, her eyes transfixed on her phone screen, completely oblivious to his presence. He stayed silent, observing her for a moment, his gaze lingering on her figure and the way her hips swayed as she walked. Eventually, he cleared his throat to catch her attention.
“Shit!” She gasped startled, placing a hand to her chest. Her gaze snapping up to him. “Don’t do that, I almost took out my taser” She huffed. Dean chuckled, his amusement evident at her reaction. "My apologies for nearly getting tased" He said, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "I didn't mean to scare you, doll"
He took a moment to study her, noting the way her chest was heaving slightly from the shock. His eyes lingered on her figure for a moment before meeting hers again.
“What are you still doing here?” Y/N asked concerned, the two now walking side by side to the elevator. "I could ask you the same thing" He replied casually, glancing over at her as they made their way towards the elevator. He noticed the subtle tiredness in her eyes, probably exhausted from the work she had been doing.
As they reached the elevator, he pressed the button to call it down and leaned back against the wall, watching her closely. "But to answer your question..." He began, a small smirk playing on his lips. "I couldn't find it in me to leave just yet. Too much work to do"
The elevator finally arrived, and the doors slid open with a ding. He gestured for her to enter before following after her. “What a gentleman” She teased, playfully bowing before entering the elevator.
"I try my best" He said, a small smirk tugging at his lips as he followed after her, entering the elevator and pressing the button for the ground floor. He stood next to her, his gaze fixed on her as the elevator began descending.
He leaned back against the wall of the elevator, watching her closely, taking advantage of the chance to admire her without her noticing. “How was your day?” Y/N broke through the silence, making small talk.
"Long, but productive." Dean replied, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "I closed a few deals and managed to get a few things off my to-do list, so can't really complain. You?"
He looked over at her, noticing how the soft glow of the elevator lights illuminated her face and made her look even more beautiful than usual. Y/N took her time admiring the handsome devil, her eyes tracing his jawline, taking in how even after a long day, his suit remained crisp as if it were just ironed.
“About the same for me, I sent those emails for you and booked your flight and hotel for your trip this weekend” She shrugged. "Oh, right. Thanks for that." Dean's mind flickered back to the upcoming business trip he had to make this weekend. He had a few meetings scheduled with potential clients that he was hoping to win over.
He let out a soft sigh, running a hand through his hair. "I'm not looking forward to it though. I hate traveling for work" He admitted, a slight frown tugging at the corners of his lips. “Really? I always thought it would be like a mini vacation” Y/N tilted her head.
"Sometimes, but not always." He explained, shrugging his shoulders. "You spend most of the time either in meetings or cooped up in a hotel room. It can get pretty boring and lonely sometimes. Plus dealing with time zones and jet lag is a pain in the ass."
“When you put it like that, I can’t blame you” She frowned, understanding how difficult it must be. “But I’m sure when you get back home to your partner, you’re happier than ever” She added with a fake smile.
Dean's expression flattened at her mention of his "partner." It was a sensitive subject, one that he preferred to keep private. But he knew that he couldn't hide it forever, especially not from his very observant secretary.
He rubbed the back of his neck, hesitating for a moment before speaking. "I'm actually, uh, not seeing anyone right now" He said, his voice gruff as he looked away from her.
Y/N's expression softened, her heart sinking slightly at his admission. She had always assumed that a man like him would be happily married by now, what with how successful and attractive he was. But hearing him say that he was single, it made her feel a pang of something she couldn't quite place.
"Oh.. I'm sorry, I just assumed—"
"It's alright" Dean quickly cut her off, waving off her apology. He knew she didn't mean any harm by her assumption, but it still stung a bit to think about the lack of a significant other in his life.
He ran a hand through his hair again, feeling a little uneasy. "I've just been so focused on my career lately, it's been hard for me to make time for dating" He explained, his voice low.
“Oh you don’t have to tell me twice, we’re on the same boat there man” She chuckled, trying to ease the situation as the elevator dinged, indicating they were now at the basement level. The elevator door slid open, revealing the parking lot below ground level.
"Oh yeah?" Dean looked over at her, a hint of surprise on his face. He hadn't expected her to be single as well. He didn't know much about her personal life.
As they stepped out of the elevator and into the basement parking lot, his eyes scanned across the mostly empty lot, looking for his car. "You're not seeing anyone either?" he asked casually, feigning nonchalance.
“When you’re raising a young boy and working full time. You don’t have much time to mingle” Y/N snorted, pacing to her car, which was coincidentally parked next to Dean’s. "I can imagine" He chuckled, stuffing his hands into his pockets as he followed her to their parked cars.
He couldn't help but notice the way her hips swayed as she walked, and he had to force himself to look away, reminding himself that she was his employee, and he was her boss. "Being a single parent must be tough," he commented, watching as she unlocked her car.
“Woah, how old do you think I am?!” Y/N tossed her head back laughing. Dean blushed, immediately realizing his mistake. "Oh crap, I didn't mean—"
He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling a little dumb. "I just assumed... sorry, I didn't mean to make any assumptions.."
He felt his heart skip a beat as she laughed, the sound filling the empty parking lot. He was still watching her, his gaze following her every move. "So, if you're not a single parent... then who are you raising?" He asked curiously.
“My brother” Y/N was in a fit of laughter, “He’s 16” She added between laughs. “Oh my god” She giggled, wiping away a strand of tears.
Dean rubbed his forehead, groaning internally at his massive blunder. He felt stupid for assuming that she was a single mother, but at the same time, he was a bit relieved that she wasn't. You couldn’t blame him for assuming by the way she phrased it.
He exhaled a breath he didn't know he was holding in, running a hand through his hair again. "God, I'm such an idiot. I can't believe I said that" He said, cursing himself for being so presumptuous.
“Nah, it’s okay. It’s my fault for phrasing it that way” Y/N assured him, opening her back door to toss her satchel in. Dean nodded, glad that she was taking it lightly and not holding anything against him. He watched as she tossed her satchel into the back seat, his eyes lingering on her figure for a few seconds longer than he should have.
He needed to stop staring.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Y/N said a bit timidly, biting her lip to stop herself from ogling Dean. Dean snapped out of his trance, realizing that he had been staring for way too long. He shook his head slightly, trying to clear his mind.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow, doll" He replied, his voice a bit huskier than usual. He forced himself to turn away from her and walked over towards his car, trying not to look back as he got in. “Nice ride by the way,” He called out after rolling down his window.
Y/N smirked proudly, starting up her engine. “Thanks, Jas is my pride and joy.” She smiled, caressing her staring wheel. “Love the silver by the way” She shot back, gesturing to his Toyota before peeling out of her parking spot. Honking her horn twice, and with that, she was off.
Dean chuckled, watching her drive off with a smirk on his face. He couldn’t help but admire her spirit, and the way she handled herself. He shook his head, a few strands of hair falling over his forehead. “Dammit!” He muttered under his breath, starting up his own engine. He needed to get her out of his head already.
Tumblr media
Y/N gripped the steering wheel tightly, her heart still racing from her interaction with her boss. She couldn't believe he had assumed she was a single mom, and she had found it funny, but at the same time, it bothered her. Did she really look that old? Or was he just asking because he was curious about her, the same way she was curious about him?
Her mind began to race, thinking about him, his tall and muscular figure, the sharp cut of his suit, and the way his emerald eyes had looked at her with both surprise and embarrassment. She exhaled a shaky breath, feeling a little warm at the memory.
“Get it together, chick” Y/N muttered to herself, gathering her thoughts and pushing them away from Dean. Y/N tried to push the thoughts of her boss from her mind, but they crept back in again and with a vengeance.
She found herself wondering what he looked like underneath those expensive suits he wore. Was he as muscular as he appeared to be or was he just a lean build? What did his hair look like without being so neatly gelled? Was it messy and ruffled? She wanted to find out so badly, and that scared her.
“Son of a-!” She was so immersed in her thoughts, she almost hit a dog on the main road. "Jesus!" Y/N swerved out of the way, barely avoiding the innocent canine. She swore under her breath, her heart racing a mile a minute as adrenaline coursed through her body.
She pulled over onto the side of the road, bringing her car to a stop as she caught her breath. She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down, as her hands trembled from the near-miss.
She gripped the steering wheel tightly, trying to steady her shaking hands, as she took a few more deep breaths. But her thoughts immediately went back to Dean, and how she nearly just hit a dog because she was picturing her boss.
She groaned, leaning her head back against the headrest. This was getting out of hand.

Mini Mac # 23 : Monkey King wagging tail
They meet Zhu Bajie and Wukong has trouble hiding his feelings for our lil guy.
Sun Wukong was looking down at the monkey slumbering in his heart-pocket with a fond expression, often than not, he caressed the top of his head with the pad of his finger. His lil ears always fluttered when he did so. The sage was so focused on Macaque he didn't realize Sanzang and Ao Lie were looking at him with curious expressions.
“You really like Macaque!” Sun Wukong startled at the sudden exclamation and turned towards the pearl-white horse. It was difficult to see what Ao Lie was feeling when he was wearing the face of a horse but the golden-furred monkey believed he saw a flicker of amusement in those jade-eyes. Sanzang seemed to be equally as curious but seemingly too nervous (and perhaps too afraid) to ask, simply occasionally glancing his way.
“He's my friend.” Replied Wukong, trying to be nonchalant about it.
“Your tail was wagging though.” Pointed out Ao Lie.
“N-no, it was not.” Refuted the sage.
“I'm pretty sure it was.” Answered Ao Lie, what was the most infuriating about his tone for Wukong was the fact the dragon-horse wasn't even trying to be smug, he was simply pointing out the evidence. Wukong would never admit it though.
“You're blind then.” Huffed Wukong as he crossed his arms.
“I didn't know monkeys’ tails wagged when they were happy. That's cool.” Chuckled the dragon-horse.
“That's not–my tail was not wagging.”
“It was.”
“It wasn't.”
“It was.”
“It wasn't.”
“It wasn’t.”
“It was!” Then Wukong frowned and took some time to understand he was tricked. “You little-”
“'l-look at that! A village! Let's go.” Interrupted Sanzang with a nervous chuckle as he pulled the reins to go faster.
Before entering the village they crossed paths with Gao Cai, a youngster looking around for someone strong enough to kill a demon. According to Gao Cai the village was called Gao, and he was sent by the elder of his family, Old Mr Gao, to look for someone powerful. Old Mr Gao was tricked into marrying his daughter to a villainous fiend after the fiend in question disguised himself as a handsome fellow. Sanzang felt compelled to help them and as such Wukong promised he would take care of this matter. They went to Old Mr Gao's house and met the daughter married to the fiend.
Macaque stretched and woke up as the golden-furred monkey was prying information from the daughter.
“What's going on?” Asked Macaque, his lil eyes dropping from drowsiness.
“Demon problem.” Briefly replied Wukong, he entertained the idea of disguising himself as the daughter and tricking the demon but then he looked down at Macaque and bit his lips… No, he didn't want to do that, especially not if Macaque could watch. He couldn't disguise himself as someone else's spouse, what if Macaque got the wrong idea? Sun Wukong decided instead to confront the demon upfront.
The golden-furred monkey carefully took Macaque and gave him to Sanzang. The monk took the lil monkey and gulped at the sage heavy gaze.
“You protect Mac… and Master I guess.” Said Wukong as he turned to Ao Lie. The dragon-horse (who returned to his human form) straightened and nodded, but then his feet got caught in his overly long robe and he fell face first on the floor. Wukong pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.
“You're okay?” Called Macaque with an amused smile.
“Ouch, I just fell down and bonked my brain cage.” Chuckled Ao Lie with a good-natured smile.
“Well… You sound okay.” Snorted Macaque, he then turned towards Wukong. “Don't go overboard.”
“I never go overboard.” Replied Wukong, he shrinked a little at Macaque's heavy gaze. “Maybe I did go a little overboard with the Guanyin Hall on fire incident buuut, technically, I wasn't the one who put it on fire. But, okay, I will not go overboard, I promise.”
“Good. I'll groom you after, you need good grooming.” Sun Wukong chirped happily at the prospect of Macaque grooming him, his tail wagged a bit.
“The tail is wa-” Sun Wukong put his tail on Ao Lie's mouth to stop his blabber.
After this, Wukong waited for the fiend and attacked him at first sight. It was a pig welding a rake. He was a surprisingly sturdy foe, even if he tried to flee when he first caught sight of Wukong. Somehow, after battling for hours and chasing after the pig, they both realized the pig was also chosen by Guanyin as a companion. Wukong doubted Guanyin's taste in companions but he pulled the pig by the ear in front of Sanzang nevertheless.
Zhu Bajie, as the pig was called, joined the pilgrims and gave up on his wedlock. He whined about it the whole time they left the village.
“Ah, my poor wife. I will miss her.” Whined Bajie as he clutched his rake in misery.
“I doubt she'll miss you.” Grumbled Wukong under his breath.
“What's that, Monkey? You got something to say?” Replied Bajie with a glare.
“I'm saying your ex-wife will not miss you.” Answered Wukong with a smug smile.
“What do you know about a wife's feelings? You’ll never get married.” Snorted Bajie. Wukong narrowed his eyes, angry, because he did want to get married, just not with a wife. But the sage didn't reply, instead he turned away with a huff and enjoyed Macaque's grooming. The lil monkey was sitting on top of his head, grooming his fur with his lil paws. “Your tail is wagging.” Pointed out Bajie with a raised eyebrow.
“Ah ha ! The tail is indeed wagging.” Exclaimed Ao Lie with a smug smile, Sanzang hid his snorts with one of his sleeves.
“Don't worry, Wukong. Wagging tails are cute.” Reassured Macaque as he patted Wukong's forehead.
Wukong just hid himself in his hands, embarrassed by his treacherous wagging tail.

Tiger Pox
This is a smaller one I did for fun after a friend of mine designed a cute tiger girl (and then another one, and then another one). Vee doesn't have an account that vee'd like tagged, so I'm going to credit the concept (and accompanying art) to Bowsiosaurus =3
CW: we tf into cute tiger girls yaaaayyyyy =^w^=
“So, the strategy that’s been getting more and more popular is to Terastalize one of your Pokemon into a Dragon-Type, and then have a Mold Breaker Haxorus use Dragon Cheer—”
“OHO,” yowled the ewe. “Because Mold Breaker lets the effect stack more than once, even when the target usually wouldn’t be affected!”
“Exactly!” replied the stout sea serpent. “The most common setup has been Gholdengo with Make It Rain.”
“Oh, okay,” Jade mumbled between bites of her street-corner hot dog. “Why is Gholdengo so strong, again?”
She and Bowsie had spent the afternoon trawling the displays of their town’s shopping plaza, and now leaned up against a building along the main thoroughfare to take a break before continuing. The impassioned, excited discussion about the finer points of the competitive metagame carried for a block or two in either direction, even rising above the crowd noise from the rest of the shoppers.
“Well, on top of being a Steel-Type, it’sssss… Um, it’s um…” Bowsie’s eyes seemed to unfocus as Jade listened. No, not unfocus—focus on something further behind her. She turned over her shoulder to look, and straightened up when she saw a shapely tiger woman strutting down the sidewalk toward the two of them. She towered over even Jade; the confident click, click, click, click of her high heels on the pavement were like a metronome, setting the pace of Jade’s tail as it swished like a cat preparing to pounce.
As Bowsie struggled to rediscover ver train of thought, head swiveling to follow the woman as she approached, Jade coyly waggled a paw up at her. She glanced their way, sending a cold, thrilling jolt through each of their chests, and briefly flashed her teeth at them. As she passed, her tail skimmed gently across both of their snouts, a clearly well-practiced tease to rile up what must have seemed, to her, as an adorably out-of-their-depth pair of spectators. Bowsie, of course, lost all hope of recovering ver composure; ver bouncy snout was a dark blue all over, and ver flippers shot up to cover ver eyes in an effort to hide how flustered vee was. Jade, on the other hand, interpreted the gesture as reciprocation of her flirty little greeting, and was about to call after the woman with a quip about “touching fluffy tail”.
Tumblr media
Something stopped her, though—she suddenly felt warm, and it struck her as more than simply blushing. She tugged at her collar, cartoonishly “awooga” as it seemed, given the circumstances, and realized that it didn’t just feel tighter: her clothes were getting tighter. Her chest (which, admittedly, had always been mostly fluff) was starting to stretch out her top, so much so that it began to bare a little bit of her midriff. Her skirt began to ride up as her hips took up more and more of the room underneath.
She looked over at Bowsie, whose scales shimmered with a layer of sweat—except where they had been replaced by big, poofy patches of bright-orange fur! Vee was shooting up like a rocket, too. Before Jade’s eyes, vee went from a whole head shorter to nearly at eye level; something told her that the only reason she hadn’t been overtaken yet was that she had been subtly stretching skyward as well. The serpent’s tail stretched and thinned as the fur inched along its length, losing its characteristic, reptilian taper in favor of a uniform thickness and a round, soft-looking tip. The black stripes crisscrossing the islands of fur seemed to knit themselves together as they bridged the gap, everywhere except for ver stomach: just like before, it was a lighter color compared to the rest of ver.
Her attention was finally wrenched back from her companion as she heard buttons begin to pop and fabric begin to rrrRRRIP. She looked down and saw that the new gaps had revealed stripes of her own, her wooly fleece slowly straightening and stiffening into a dense layer of white fur that exploded out through her top’s once-respectable neckline. Her mane grew even less manageable than usual, fluffing up so much that it fell around her face as she examined herself; her hooves softened into round, blunt, padded paws, big enough to appropriately cushion her quickly-growing frame. As the last of her own stripes were freed from the tatters of her clothes, she looked out over the mountainous fluff of her chest to see her equally-well-endowed friend looking expectantly back at her, arms crossed in an affectionately-impatient little huff that accentuated her new assets.
Tumblr media
“Oh, uh… I’m sorry, were you waiting for me?”
“You were wheeling again, Jade!”
“M-my bad! I just got a little distracted, is all. It’s just…” She fiddled with her paws for a moment, looking down at the ground, before glancing furtively back up at her friend. “Do you think that pretty lady might’ve l-liked us?”
“Us?” Bowsie scoffed, tilting her chin up smugly. “Bestie, of course she liked us! We’re catches. I bet we could catch her if we left now, but honestly? I’m kinda hungry.” Jade glanced down at a discarded hot dog laying near her on the street. Not the kind of thing she would usually go for, but Bowsie had a point—they’d been walking around all day, after all!
“Do you think they have a pumpkin spice flavor at the bubble tea place?”
“I think I saw it on their sign!”
“Yaaaaayy!” the white tiger cheered quietly. “It’s my favorite… that’s why winter is my favorite time of year!”
“It’s your favorite time of year ‘cause you have all that fluff, girl! Not everybody’s as well-insulated as you. Makes it harder to spot you, too!”
“That part is a little comforting…”
“Well, I’m happy for you, but I love being easy to spot. Why do you think that girl was smiling at me before, huh?”
“Hush!” Jade giggled, playfully nudging the orange tiger’s shoulder. “You know how loud you are. She might hear you!”
“I hope so! Then I can invite her to the tea place with us!”
“So I can third wheel for the two of you?”
“Well, you’d better get walking if you don’t want me to take off and hunt her down! C’mon!”

Leona Info Compilation part 8: Main Story Books 0, 1 and 3 and Azul, Floyd and Jade
In Leona’s earliest appearance in the main story he ignores an on-fire Kalim and Crowley’s efforts to catch Grim to exchange verbal barbs with Vil.
Our official introduction to Leona is when he threatens the prefect with violence for stepping on his tail; they are saved by Ruggie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Book 3 Leona reluctantly allows Grim and the prefect to spend the night in his room after they lose Ramshackle to Azul. (A line where Leona threatens to eat them if they wake him up was changed to “I’ll turn you into a shag carpet” in the English adapation.)
Leona has a significant role in Book 3, stealing Azul’s magical-artifact-contracts straight from his vault.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Azul promises Leona anything he wants in exchange for the return of his contracts, but Leona refuses on the basis that the prefect and Grim won’t let him sleep.
(Ruggie reveals that Leona was actually getting rid of his own contract with Azul, using the prefect as an excuse.)
In the English version of the game Leona says that he couldn’t ignore a “friend” in need, but this was a change to his original dialogue: he does not actually call the prefect a friend.
Azul does not seem very fond of Leona, referring to his complaints during Beanfest as “the yowling of a beaten lion” and when Jack breaks a bottle of durian juice inside the school store, Azul happily tells Sam to charge the bottle and any associated cleaning expenses to Leona.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When asked to team up with either Riddle or Leona during Book 6 Azul chooses Riddle on the basis that, “Leona’s desiccating signature spell would be a poor fit with a merman.”
Later on, however, Azul becomes frustrated with Riddle and comments, “If I’d known he’d be like this, I would’ve gone with Leona and just called my sanded contracts water under the bridge…”, insinuating that he still holds a grudge against Leona for the events of Book 3.
Leona seems to pay very handsomely for Azul’s assistance during Book 2, which Azul references during Book 5; Leona is not amused.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leona explains that he has “made a few deals” with Azul in the past “and paid the piper for ‘em”, but he has never put his power up for collateral.
He seems cautious of Azul, initially refusing to help Jack and the other characters take Azul down in Book 3 and only acquiescing once he recognizes an opportunity to get rid of his own contract.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Book 5 Azul says that he doesn’t torment others for sport “unlike Leona”, and when Leona points out “You’re not gonna get anywhere talkin' a lady’s ear off” in Phantom Bride Azul responds, “Leona, you were the first to be rejected. You’re hardly in a position to act SMUG.”
Leona may be cautious of Octavinelle in general: Jade approaches him during Spectral Soiree with a drink, asking about a recent interaction he had with Floyd (in the English adaptation Leona responds with “oh, right, you are twins”, but this was changed from his original line of “Floyd?…oh, your other half.”)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leona is quick to apologize for any perceived slight on Floyd’s part, to Jade’s surprise.
We learn that Leona blatantly ignored Floyd’s efforts to join in during the Spelldrive team’s pre-Halloween practice, which seems to be Leona’s modus operandi for dealing with Floyd: he has a voice line of “Fightin' him ain’t worth it. Just ignore him if he tries to start somethin’ with you.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leona explains that he usually emphasizes independence with the Spelldrive team but he decided to increase training before Halloween, when they will not be able to practice at all, and “might’ve inadvertently ignored Floyd.”
Leona apologizes a second time and downplays his own abilities.
When Jade attempts to press for more conversation Leona shuts him down, explaining that he doesn’t want to owe anyone from Octavinelle anything: he only gave Jade a conversation in return for the drink Jade brought him.

Cale Henituse | Kim Rok Soo x Transported!Reader
Tumblr media
You and Cale finally talk about what happened, but only after you suggested an outrageous plan.
For the first few times he had met you, Alver had thought of you as someone reliable and capable. You were always berating Cale more openly than others and whenever Cale was being dense, you'd share a look with him and the others as if you were all suffering together because of how dumb that man was. But then as he got to know you, he found out that while you were always the one berating Cale, you were also the only one Cale trusted to share his self-sacrificial plans with and always encouraged Cale's crazy plans with such a solid trust that it made Alberu curious on how deeply your relationship was with the man.
But more importantly, he knew just how unhinged you can be, and he knows that this isn't the most unhinged he will see you be.
"You're telling me—" he started slow, rubbing his temple, "—that you want to go there under a disguise?"
You rolled your eyes, mildly annoyed at his exasperated tone. You've told him this twice, can't he keep up?
After overhearing the conversation of the men in the street, you and Alver hurried to return to the palace. Along the way of returning, you proposed the idea of sneaking into the supposed gambling house and suggested that Alver could probably find a drug ring if this issue turns out to be bigger than they all expected.
"That's dangerous," he told you with a frown and his response had you frowning in disapproval.
"As if you and Cale don't do it every time it's convenient for you!" You retorted, listing the number of fake identities that Cale has and the alias Alver had chosen everywhere he wants to go undetected. Bob, you recalled the ridiculous name, knowing how many faces you can put on that name alone.
"Yes, but it's different this time," Alver tried to reason with you, knowing how stubborn you are. He grasped your hand, forcing you to look at his stern blue eyes. "A woman disguising herself to sneak into a gambling house is a different story. I know I don't have to elaborate any further for you to understand how vulnerable you would be if we go with your plan."
"But Count Theo--"
"Exposing his misdeeds isn't worth your safety," he cuts you off. You stared at him for a moment and Alver lets go of your hand, his own coming up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "I don't understand why you're being so insistent on this despite knowing how dangerous it is. I know that you have a bone to pick with him but you have never been the type to mix that personal aspect of your life into a professional setting."
"Then what do you propose?" You asked him, ignoring his comment regarding your professionality. "We need to get rid of him."
Alver stared at you for some time, racking his brain to give you an answer. To be truthful, he had thought of disguises as well to find out more about Count Theo, but he couldn't exactly have you go down there alone, especially not when you have a personal grudge against Count Theo. Worse things come to worse, you'd be found out and your name dragged through the mud for being present in a brothel and gambling grounds.
"Are you ready to woman up and talk to Cale yet?"
Tumblr media
"I miss [Name]."
Cale's gaze moved from the ceilings to Ohn who sat beside him on the bed, the tip of her silver fluffy tail twitching in intrigue as she studied Cale's jaded brown eyes. It has been quite a long time since you stepped back into the duchy and it's been rather upsetting to see that Cale has been spending more time laying on his bed instead of sitting around and reading a book or enjoying a few snacks, one of the many things everyone knows he forced himself to do in the afternoon because he's always expecting a visit from you.
When Cale kept his mouth shut, Ohn took it as a sign that Cale himself does not know what to say to her in regard to her words. It's been a few days of others pointing out how ever since you left, the estate seemed to be too peaceful. You weren't running around the halls to head to your office or the library in a hurry, your voice no longer greeting even the servants during their breaks. Some of them are pondering whether or not you remember to rest and eat your lunch because everyone knows that you treated lunch as a reward for finishing your tasks.
"I heard from Grandpa that she was here."
The tip of Ohn's tail began flicking when Cale's eyes widened slightly, his voice barely a murmur when he asked; "She was?"
"Mhm." Ohn circled the spot she was on before sitting down, resembling a loaf of bread with her paws and tails hidden underneath her fluffy fur. Cale stuck his hand out, caressing her right behind her ear, smiling slightly when Ohn began to purr in delight. It didn't take long for her to lay on the bed, stomach showing while Cale gives her head rubs. "Grandpa said she came by just to have some snacks, though she didn't look very well."
Cale frowned in thought as he continued petting Ohn. He expected you to be quite worn out with all the new workload but he didn't expect you to make time to come over despite that, and to only have some snacks? Also, why didn't Ron report your return to him?
'Something doesn't feel right.'
Just as he began to come up with a few scenarios of what could be happening, his bedroom door slammed open and was followed by the shrill voice of a certain Black Dragon. "Human! Human!"
Cale sat up, seeing Raon so happily flying to him with the mana communication device in his paws, Hong hot on his trail with a big smile. "It's [Name]! She's calling!"
Ohn sat up, tail swishing left to the right despite her calm face. They all shuffled closer to Cale when Raon dropped the communication device to his lap, turning on the call.
Instead of your face, Alver's face appeared, his noble smile on his face as it was the default expression on his face. Cale couldn't help but frown when he saw the blond man instead of you, his displeasure visible and so was his kids'. Alver's smile faltered and he looked at them all with a raised eyebrow, "Am I that bad to look at?"
"Of course not," Cale replied, his face staying the same. "It's an honor to be facing His Highness--"
"Alright, enough."
Alver leaned back in your chair, staring at Cale and the kids' displeased expressions, thinking about how they must've been so excited to see you again only to see him. He decided to use your communication device instead of his just to mess with Cale and he knew that you knew about it because you didn't put up a fight when he suggested it. You were across the room, folding your cloak along with the one he had borrowed, storing it back in the wardrobe.
"You don't seem to be in your study nor your room," Cale pointed out, noticing the different window sill and wallpaper behind Alver.
"He's with me."
Cale felt his breathing almost stop at hearing your voice. He watched you begin to move into the frame, standing behind the chair Alver was sitting on. How long has it been since he heard your voice? How long has it been since he saw you? Perhaps too long because he found himself drinking the image of you as if you were the most interesting thing he ever found and must be remembered and revered for centuries.
Your face looked lethargic and formal wear was a bit ruffled, but the slight backlight from the window behind you made you look holy as if there was a glowing halo around your head, the light shining through your [h/c] strands. Cale never thought of himself to be much of a poet nor was he a romantic person and he hated how his thoughts were filled with the words he would have cringed at when he was younger, but oh, how can you look so wry and beautiful at the same time?
That kind of beauty is unfair, he thinks, because it's the kind that one could be ungrateful to have seen at the moment and if they were lucky, they would become old and think back to your face, and perhaps it would be enough for someone to be youthfully felt just by thinking of your eyes and the tired smile on your face. And thankfully for Cale, he was not the type to start appreciating things once they have been lost.
Cale's eyes softened once he saw you and he let himself smile. "How are you, [Name]?"
You looked a bit stunned for a moment, not expecting Cale to immediately address you so softly. The gentle way he spoke of your name sent tremors to your hands, your knees weak, and you had to force yourself to not give him a full-blown smile, because how can you not be happy to know he was still there, waiting for you?
"I've been well," you managed to reply to him and for a moment, you believed that you are well now that you'd seen him. "And the kids?"
"We miss you!" Raon yelled through the device. "Come home, [Name]!"
You subtly tapped Alver's back, urging him to please take charge of the conversation. As horrible as you could be, you could never be able to lie to children.
Alver cleared his throat. "Right. Cale, we require your assistance."
"But if you can't, that's fine," you piped in, holding your hands up and giving him an anxious smile. "Seriously, no pressure."
"[Name], stop it," Alver berated you. "I'm not sending you out there alone."
Cale straightens up upon hearing Alver's words. "What is this about?"
"We plan to have [Name] go under a disguise to find out more about a possible brothel and gambling ring," Alver answered, seeing Cale's expression turning into disbelief. "There is a possibility that a few nobles of the empire are running it and it was originally her plan, not mine."
'Snitch,' you thought, hand coming up to pinch Alver by his waist. Alver flinched and tried to scootch away, giving you a dirty look, one to which you replied with your own.
"That's--"
"I know it's dangerous, you don't have to tell me," you say before Cale could continue. "Please, this is something I have to do, so tell me whether or not you'll help me. I don't have much time."
Cale stared at your face, trying to find out what you meant by not having much time. He tries to look at your eyes as deeply as the communication device allows him to but just by the way the corner of your lips are slightly turned down and eyebrows scrunched, he was able to see that you were pleading. And how could he turn away from you?
"I'll help." He sighed, leaning back on his pillows. "What are you planning?"
Your lips curled into a smirk, excited to finally have things go your way. You glanced at the children for a quick moment, hoping Cale could understand that you don't want the kids to hear about your plan. "Come over and I'll tell you. Bring Choi Han with you."
Tumblr media
Cale arrived at the Palace as quickly as he could, bringing along Choi Han with him as per your request. They both headed to Alver's study, Choi Han knocking thrice before opening the door once they heard Alver's invitation to be inside his study. They found Alver by his desk with you standing by his side, showing him a few sheets of paper. Alver picked one up and grinned with a single eyebrow raised in amusement.
"Are you sure this is not a lengthy plan for you to just get a dress?" Alver's question can be heard as they stepped closer to his desk.
You grinned, looking at the paper he was holding. "You think I'd be brave enough to wear this type of thing to a formal event in this stuck-up place?"
Alver shrugged nonchalantly as he stared at the paper. "You'd look good. Scandalous, but good."
"Scandalous?" Choi Han repeated, mildly curious about what you and Alver were discussing. Alver set the paper down to look at Choi Hand and Cale properly meanwhile you gathered it with the others, hiding them from their view when you hold it close to your chest.
"Now that you're both here, [Name] could explain her plans in detail," Alver said, gesturing to you with his hand. "Take a seat."
You watched Cale turn to you, his brown eyes studying you as he sat on the couch of Alver's study. His gaze followed you as you sat across them, folding the papers in your hands and tucking them inside the pocket of your coat. You smiled at him, "Hey."
"Have you eaten yet?" Cale asked, noticing that you had lost some weight. It wasn't too clear on the communication device but in real life, he could see the way your sleeves hung on your limbs instead of like in the past where your clothes looked snug on you.
"I ate a little bit before coming out earlier," you answered him. "Too excited to share my plans."
"I heard it's about a gambling ring," Choi Han joins in the conversation, standing behind the couch Cale was sitting on. "And sneaking in?"
"Yes. Alver and I were out earlier today together and stumbled upon a couple of men in the slums that mention Count Theo giving them money and preparing girls," you explained, not noticing that Cale had looked over to Alver at the mention that you had both went out together, an eyebrow raised as a silent question and Alver only shrugged, hoping Cale understands that it was nothing.
"It seemed to be a usual case of a noble playing with women and money laundering," Cale stated slowly, turning to look at you. "What's special about this one?"
You shrugged. "I have grudges."
"That's not very healthy," Alver commented.
"I'll heal in hell," you retorted with a grin. "Count Theo has been under my surveillance ever since I started working here. At first, it was only because he was a sexist jerk, but then I started noticing how most of the locations in his project proposals are within the same area so I had been suspicious that something fishy must have going on in that specific area. After getting a clue that he's probably money laundering and visiting brothels, there's a very huge chance that he is also involved in drugs. His Highness' people are already digging for anything that could be of help and to see what kind of connection he has with that particular area he's always been interested in."
Cale cradled his chin and began to think. While the whole issue seemed to be based on your grudge towards the noble, Cale wasn't the type to refuse a plan just because it was petty. He would accept it because it's petty. "You're planning to go down into the place by yourself. What do you hope to accomplish?"
"The plan is to completely go into disguise and find the place Count Theo will be spending his time in," you began. "I would have to make sure the people that are in charge there are to be completely distracted while His Highness' people, Choi Han included, sneak into the establishment and find anything that could immediately incarcerate them."
Cale tilted his head. "How will you be doing that? Distracting them?"
You gave Cale a sly grin, shrugging nonchalantly. "I have my ways."
Cale suppressed the urge to smile at your confidence. He loves it so much when you're brimming with confidence to the point it's dripping, forcing everyone in the room to acknowledge it. Cale thinks you might have not realized the amount of power you could have in your hand had you been so constantly like this, confident and blunt with that grin on your face. Cale let out a defeated sigh, "Okay. What's my role in your plan?"
Alver let out a snort and both Cale and Choi Han turned to him with raised eyebrows, confused about why he suddenly laughed. Alver covered his mouth and used the other hand to wave them off, "N-no, listen to her plan."
Cale turned to look at you again, seeing that your face is now red and you were looking down at the floor with both hands gripping at your dress on your lap.
"[Name]?" Cale called. "What am I supposed to do?"
"It's not what you're supposed to do, but what I'm supposed to do," you corrected him, face still red and avoiding looking at him. "I can distract them if I'm alone but--"
"[Name], stop killing me and just say it," Alver calls you out, trying to suppress his laughter. You hissed at him and then glanced up at Cale, face red. Cale felt his own face warming up at your gaze and nearly drop dead at the words you utter to him next.
"I'll be going as your woman."
Cale blinked owlishly. "What...?"
"Oh, I'm sure you'll both do a splendid job," Choi Han commented, the misunderstandings he had kept to himself after all these years allowing him to be blind towards the situation and atmosphere. You glared at the black-haired male with a scandalized look, "What do you mean?"
Surprised at your heated reply, Choi Han stuttered, "I-I mean, I believe you both can do it!"
Cale let the sound of you and Choi Han arguing drown as he thought about the plan. The fact that they will all be visiting a pub of some sort or perhaps even a fancy underground brothel meant they couldn't be just entering the place and not have someone by their side during their whole stay there. They needed a companion to go with this plan and your plan to go in as an escort isn't too bad... is it?
"If you don't feel comfortable with it, I can go alone," you told Cale, seeing that he looked a bit disturbed after you revealed your plan.
"Absolutely not," Alver boomed, voice stern and leaving no room for any arguments. "I will not be allowing [Name] to go down there alone. I will assign someone to be with her if Cale cannot do it."
What are the things that escorts must do so that they can look convincing? Cale thinks of the things you must do, like hanging onto every word your partner says, arms tangled together wherever you go, and the way you would have to be so close all the time, perhaps bodies pressed against each other even. Cale isn't the type of man to take advantage of a woman, especially not the woman he wished could be his, but thinking about you doing those things to someone else made him feel...
"Would you prefer it to be me?"
Cale didn't think he'd say those words out loud so clearly. Your gaze sweeps over his face, seeing a myriad of emotions flash across his handsome face when he realized you were analyzing him. You gulped, thinking of your words carefully considering the awkward situation between you and Cale. You closed your eyes, sighing, 'Fuck it.'
"I..." You felt your heart squeeze in your chest as you look at him with a mellow smile. "I don't think there's a world where I will not prefer it to be you."
Cale forced himself to gulp, wetting his mouth a little bit because it had gone dry the moment he heard your words. Cale doesn't like assuming things, but is he allowed to at least hope?
"Then it's decided!" Alver clapped his hand, attracting everyone's attention back to him as he grinned. His blue eyes met Cale, glimmering with joy seeing Cale's slightly red face.
"Cale and [Name] will be in a disguise and sneak into the establishment. You are both to distract the people there and create a safe environment for my people to get what we needed."
It wasn't long until Alver received the report regarding Count Theo and several other nobles who seemed to frequent a common commoner's area near the slums. These reports came back with proof of connection between them and several brothel homes and gambling rings that has close ties with several drug dealers, though not enough to prove their transactions. It seemed most of them gathered together in a pub near the slums while concealing their identities by wearing masks and covering any identifiable features.
"The plan will start tomorrow night," Alver declared to the three of you. "Miss [Name] will have to return to the duchy for today as discreetly as possible. I'll be sending over the things you'll all need tomorrow morning."
Your return to the duchy was welcomed with open arms and cheerful smiles. You could guess why both the Duke and Duchess gave you a worried look when you greeted them but you decided to not think much of it when Cale stopped walking beside you to ask, "Will you join me for my evening tea?"
You wanted to laugh at how formal he sounded. "Okay."
You walked beside him towards his room, seeing Ron already standing in front of his room with a benign smile. Upon seeing you, Ron bowed his head and greeted you, "It's been a while since we've had you back in the duchy. Welcome back, Miss [Name]."
You kept your smile despite how clear the man was recalling your last visit here. "It's good to be back."
"Ron, prepare us some tea and snacks," Cale told the butler as the older man opened the bedroom door, showing the two children and Black Dragon that are sitting on the couch together.
Upon seeing you with Cale, they stood up with large smiles on their faces and ran to you, Raon greeting Cale first while Ohn and Hong came to you, Hong hugging your waist while Ohn looked up at you with gleaming eyes. You hugged the red-headed child back, using one hand to ruffle Ohn's silver hair. "Oh, I missed you guys so mu-ch!"
"You were away for a long time," Hong grumbled against your dress. "Why did you take so long?"
"I'm sorry, sweetheart," you cooed, rubbing his back. "There was so much to do and I couldn't go home until they were all finished."
Again, it was better for you to say it like this than to lie to their faces when Cale is right in front of you. You look up at the man himself, seeing him cradling Raon close to his chest while staring at you. You chewed the inside of your cheek and gave a tight hug once again to Hong, "Why don't you all go play while Cale and I talk?"
"Okay," Ohn answered obediently. She pulled on Hong's arm gently from you and suggested going to the kitchen to look for Beacrox's cookies. Just the mention of Beacrox's name was enough for Hong to let you go.
"Go ahead and say hi to [Name] before leaving," Cale murmured to Raon before letting the dragon go and fly towards you. You immediately opened your arms, embracing the dragon and feeling his scales scratch at your skin lightly, his body was oddly cool and felt refreshing to touch. "It's nice to see you again, Raon."
"Don't leave again, [Name]," Raon grumbled and you felt your heart skip a beat. You hugged the Dragon and let your cheek flush against the Dragon's scaly head.
It did not escape Cale that you didn't say anything in response.
Once the kids have left and Ron have provided tea and snacks, you and Cale were left alone in his bedroom. You sat across from him, staring at the refreshments as you rack your mind to find the words to start the conversation because you can see clearly that Cale himself doesn't know what to say.
"I don't know how to start," he admitted first, breaking the silence between you two. "This is... my first time dealing with these types of things."
You gathered your courage to look at him, seeing that Cale was already staring at you, pale cheeks dusted pink and eyes hazy. Your heart started drumming against your chest and you could feel your own cheeks heating up at the memory of what happened. You couldn't get the memory of pulling him down to you and pressing your lips against his, the way your lips molded perfectly together as if it was created for each other, as if that was your duty of living, to keep loving one another.
"I'm sorry for running away and not talking it out," you began, your eyes averting down to look at Cale's hands that are situated on his lap. You don't think you can look at Cale for too long and be expected to form coherent thoughts and hold up a verbal conversation.
"I took advantage of you," Cale said and you jolted out of shock, nearly standing up from the couch.
"What--? No!" Your voice nearly faltered. "No, no. No, you did not take advantage of me. I was a bit tipsy, yes, but I also wanted to do that and I enjoyed it so no, you--you weren't the only one who wanted it--you didn't take advantage of me. I swear, I felt like I was the one who took advantage of you because I shared some pity story and I was afraid you kissed me because I was so pathetic that -- wait, hold on, I think I'm rambling."
You took a deep breath after that word vomit, wondering for a second whether or not Cale was able to properly digest your words and understand them because you had been explaining everything too quickly. You fiddled with your fingers, cursing for the habit of overexplaining things when you could have just stopped two sentences in.
"[Name]."
Fuck, you hated how your name rolls from his mouth so good. His voice alone was enough to make your whole body tingle, but the tone he held as he spoke made your heart melt to the point it was hard to breathe.
"I... I wouldn't kiss someone because I pity them," he told you. "And no, I didn't pity you that day. I just feel disappointed in myself for not noticing your feelings."
You chewed on the inside of your cheek. "About me missing my family or about my feelings towards you?"
Cale's cheeks flushed red a bit. "Both."
Your lips are pursed into a straight line, nodding. "Good to know."
There was a pregnant pause between the two of you -- Cale staring at you and you staring at the refreshments on the table as if it was the most interesting thing in the world you've ever seen. You ponder about what to say to diminish this tense, awkward situation, but all you could think was how now your relationship with Cale would never be the same. You can no longer enter his room and sit on his bed so casually, you could no longer stare at him and not think about the way his cold lips molded with yours and the soft strands of his hair when you play with them. Fuck, you're in trouble.
"I really, really, like you, Cale."
You missed the way Cale's mouth had opened, most likely wanting to speak first before you stole that chance. Your hand ran up to the back of your neck, rubbing a spot there as you continue speaking. "I don't exactly know your stance when it comes to these types of situations and relationships so I don't know whether or not you'd want to be committed. However, I do know that you're dedicated to the life of a rich slacker and I've made it a personal goal to see you achieve that, so I want to see that before anything else. Plus, with so many questions surrounding my appearance in this world, I don't want to take any chances of... investing too much of my heart in you only to leave you afterward. I don't want to risk the heartache and you don't deserve that."
Cale could understand your reasoning and most of all, he grieved over the thought that you had made his goal your own. He wanted to berate you for it, but at times like these, he knows it would only be like talking to a wall. His chest swelled with a feeling he had been getting familiar with these last few weeks as he thinks about the possibility that you might want to be with him after all those things you mentioned had been settled.
"I have the same feelings for you, [Name]."
Your heart skipped a beat and you looked up at Cale with wide eyes. The man smiled slightly, "Now you're looking at me."
"W-what? Cale—" You began to stutter over your words, cheeks reddening like a teenager sick in love and it intensified when Cale's brown eyes are glazed with mirth.
"Calm down," he replied. "I already thought about and I'm certain that I have feelings for you, too. I respect your choice to not be committed, but please know that with me telling you my feelings, I'm handing you a part of myself, so please treat it with great care."
His face when he spoke of those words made you feel like your chest is about to combust and flowers will burst out from your ribcage. You nodded, hand on your chest to calm your racing heart. "I'd never hurt you."
You never thought of Cale being someone so straightforward regarding these things because he was always the type to just carry on and be subtle as long as possible, so your head was spinning from this new Cale you never expected to exist and the feelings that are brewing in your chest.
A knock on the door startled you from the sweet moment and Ron's husky voice calls from the door, "Miss [Name], His Highness has sent you his recommended designer."
"Fashion designer?" Cale questioned with an eyebrow raised.
"Oh, right! That's quick," you commented, standing up from the couch. "I asked His Highness to have a dress made for me to go undercover with. Make it feel more real, you know?"
Cale nodded, following you to the door. "I see. It seemed you're set on going all out for your first undercover operation."
You turned to look at him when you both stopped in front of his door. "I have to. I have to look good while working with Bob."
Cale gave you a questioning look before realizing it was the moniker he always used whenever he goes undercover. You giggled, having caught his expression as he processed your joke.
"You'll have to be very familiar with me during this whole thing," Cale began. "We'd even have to..."
The word 'kiss' is at the tip of his tongue but Cale wasn't brave enough to say it when you're so close to him. "Are you comfortable with that?"
"I trust you," you answered him simply. "I think the fact that I chose you as my partner says enough, setting aside my feelings for you, of course. You'd have to get used to kissing me, are you okay with that?"
Cale casts a glance at your lips and thought about how irresistible they are. Would he be able to get used to kissing you? Probably not. A single kiss from you managed to haunt him for weeks! Imagine multiple. He'd probably carry the thought into his grave and it wouldn't be such a horrible death, would it? To die remembering your lips and the tender emotions you managed to impart just by brushing your lips together.
"D-do you want to test it out?"
Your suggestion caused Cale's cheeks and the tips of his ears to flare up red. "That's not a wise thing to do..."
"It's just for us to get used to--" You told him, scrambling for your thoughts on why the everliving fuck would you suggest that to a man who had confessed to you? "You don't have to do it."
Cale chewed on his bottom lip as he ponder about it. 'It's just for the undercover... We can test it out, to make sure it's authentic in front of others. Right? Right. For the mission.'
"Well... I suppose we do have to get used to it..."
You faced Cale properly with burning cheeks and reminding yourself it's only so you can get the job done as real as possible and it's not because your stomach had been crowding with butterflies when you saw Cale glancing at your lips. Cale's cold hands came up to your face, hovering over your cheek for a second before he cradled your face. He leaned down to you as you push your body flush against him, hand placed on his chest and feeling the drumming of his heart underneath your palm.
"Fuck," you heard him murmur before he leaned his forehead against yours, the quick pace of his heartbeat and the rush of his blood throughout his whole body too much to handle. He could feel every curve of you against him and it was almost like he was going to enter a state of an anxiety attack.
You looked up at him through your lashes, seeing his flushed face and eyes full of tenderness and some sort of pain, as if he couldn't force himself any longer to be strong. You stood on your toes and crashed your lips together, wrapping your arms around his neck and your eyes fluttering close. Cale stayed still for a moment to process what just happened before he closed his eyes, returning your kiss with so much heat and fervor.
You let out a sigh when Cale's hand slowly went from your cheek to neck, stroking it so lovingly and sending tingles down your body as his fingers began to sneak under your collar, his cold touch against your hot body made the kiss so much more exciting. You open your mouth and teasingly licked at his lip, Cale flinching at the new sensation and opening his mouth with a quiet whimper. You thrust your tongue into his mouth, twirling your tongue with his and feeling Cale shudder underneath your touch.
You grabbed his hand that was on your neck and lead it to your hips, sliding it until his hand was placed right on top of your derriere. You can feel his fingers twitching, hesitant to touch you.
"Miss [Name]?"
You pulled back slowly, a string of saliva connecting both of your tongues. You opened your eyes to look at Cale, seeing his flushed-out face and the way he fluttered his watery eyes open. He looked at you with awe and something so indescribably tender that you melted in his chest.
"How was that?" You asked, voice low and soft as you wiped his lip with your thumb.
Cale stared at you with a look of faux displeasure and leaned his forehead to your shoulder. "I don't think I can ever get used to that."

RotB spoilers
Wow. That sure was... a Transformers movie.
The Positives:
The human characters were amazing. I love Noah's relationship with his little brother, the Sonic and Tails thing made me squee both because I'm a Sonic nerd and because it was just so darn cute! Anthony Ramos does a great job of protraying both the comedic and the more serious sides of the character. I hope he gets big after this, I'd love to see him in more. Same for Dominique Fishback, who also did amazing as Elena. Elena is a gem of a character, I loved her genuine passion for history and how openminded and willing to help she is. Her relationship with the Autobots and the Maximals is so genuinely respectful on both sides and the way the movie makes it clear that the gang probably wouldn't get far without her knowledge - I'm just really happy that the first POC human companions in a Transformers movie were handled this well.
Mirage and Noah's odd friendship is wholesome and funny and one of the highpoints of the movie. Mirage in general is a pretty well-written comedic relief. He's quirky and does his own thing, but never to the point that it gets grating. I think a big part of his likability comes from Pete Davidson's performance, he gives this character such an inherent charisma and joy for life you can't help but warm up to him eventually. I found it pretty interesting that Noah and Mirage seem to be a sort of mirror to Bumblebee and Charlie, heck, their last scene together is literally Noah repairing Mirage to bring him back from a coma. Human-Transformer friendships are pretty hit or miss in these movies, but these two absolutely hit. Btw, we're definitely in for tons of ship-art after Mirage's "You were inside me!" - line and I, for one, cannot wait. Hot take, Noah and Mirage should have kissed.
The Transformers designs were awesome (for the most part, but we'll get to that)! They're very different from the old Bayverse designs, but not in a bad way at all. I think they're a perfect mix of the old traditional G1 but wth enough elements from more modern depictions that they can be seen as their own thing. I'm especially a fan of Arcee's new look, the visor that becomes her windshield in motorcycle-form is aneat touch.
It was cool to see less known Transformers get to be part of the maincast. Mirage is the obvious one, but we've also got Stratosphere, whom I honestly didn't think they'd ever bring back, but it was a nice surprise. I think it's an interesting decision to not have Bumblebee the one who bonds with a human, since in every mainline movie so far he was basically the bridge between humans and Autobots, as the only one with a permanent human companion. They even reference it. But I can get behind it, Bumblebee's kind of become infamous for hogging the limelight. Giving another Autobot a human friend allows someone else to shine for once.
The underlying commentary on instituional racism in both Elena's and Noah's stories was *chef's kiss*. The way Noah struggled to get a job, despite having all the qualities, but being dismissed at the first excuse hi would-be boss gets? Elena being obviously more qualified to be a curator than her boss, but being stuck as an intern who does all the actual work while the white woman gets all the credit for it? Real. Frustrating, but real.
Optimus being portrayed as more jaded and bitter and needing to relearn the meaning of Til All Are One was an intriguing direction to take the characcter in, I enjoyed it for the most part. Also ngl, I got a bit teary-eyed when Optimus pleaded with Noah not to destroy the Transwarp Key and that they could save both of their worlds without one needing to suffer. The paralells between Optimus and Noah were also neat. They're both soldiers who adopted a "Whatever it takes" mindset after countless instances of life just absolutely dumping on them and need to re-learn that sometimes, it's not just about you and your loved ones. You can't just dismiss the fate of others because they're not in your general orbit and working together so no one will have to sacrifice or be sacrificed will always be better than bulldozing through with a "Fuck you, got mine" attitude.
The movie gives the middle finger to the Ancient Aliens trope so fucking hard. Yes, the Maximals were on Earth for a long time and had contact with humans, nope, they're not responsible for stuff like the Nazca Lines or the pyramids, those were all still the humans. The Maximals only contributed their own artifacts to hide the Transwarp Key and even those are clearly distinct from humanity's ancient artifacts, absolutely no overlap. If anything, it's heavily implied the Maximals were imitating humanity when creating their artifacts and I think that's great.
The Negatives:
The story isn't really the movie's strong point. It's a standard Macguffin-hunt, ending with a world-ending threat. If you've seen even one movie with those plot-points before, you've seen this one. There's very little there in terms of fresh new takes or originality. The pacing's too fast to give much attention to the characters, who should have been the main focus, and the climax is a drag that takes about half an hour too long, has about three separate Darkest Hour moments and severely undermines two major characters (more on that later).
The secondary conflict about Noah wanting to destroy the Transwarp Key to protect Earth from Unicron and going behind both the Autobots' and the Maximals' backs is resolved way too quickly. I get why it is, going more in-depth with it would have taken time that the movie simply didn't have to spare, but I feel like that was a potentially enaging discussion that we've missed out on. It's one of the very few examples where a story portrays a gray conflict in a competent manner: You can't really blame Noah for not wanting Earth to be torn apart between all those factions of giant robots, one of whom has shown nothing but disdain for humanity and seems to care only about his own people. On the other end, you can understand why Optimus is so desperate and hyperfocused on using the key to return to Cybertron: There's still a war going on there, dozens of his friends are in the line of fire and he's been forced to sit the conflict out on Earth twiddling his thumbs, with no way to contact the other Autobots. Optimus' speech to Noah during Airazor's attack was good, I won't deny that, but I wish we could've seen other characters react to what Noah almost did. Would they be accepting like Optimus? Or would they feel angry and betrayed, especially Mirage? Speaking of Mirage, how would the fact that Noah almost took away his one hope of going back home affect their relationship? How would Noah defend himself? Or would he accept that what he did was understandable but not okay and try to apologize?
I'm sorry, the Mirage-armor was just silly. It looked silly too. Granted the movie did kind of foreshadow it with Noah's Mirage-glove, but a simple glove is leagues away from 'dismantling my entire body to give my bestie a mech-suit made out of me'. And no hate to the CGI artists, but they messed up big time on the armor. It's obvious Noah's face is photoshopped in there and the movements are just way too video game character-y.
I'm not sure how I feel about the G. I. Joe teaser. I've never watched the cartoon, but I am aware they've had a history of crossovers with Transformers. Still, this feels like another attempt at creating a cinematic universe a la Marvel and I'm really starting to get sick of those. Plus, are we supposed to just ignore that a government organization was spying on Noah the whole time, meddled with his family's medical business and is already looking to weaponize the Autobots for their own purposes through Noah's connection with them? I gotta say, that's a whole lotta yikes that we're just supposed to accept because the Joes are, allegedly, the Good Guys. And come to think of it, how come they only contacted Noah? How come Elena didn't get contacted as well? She was right there, they never would've been able to save the world without her contributions! But that transitions neatly into my next point.
This movie does it's female characters dirty. All of the main groups suffer from Smurfette Principle (each group has only one female character who is mostly relegated to sidekick or background role for the sake of the male characters). Like, the male-female ratio isn't balanced at all here. Two of the four main girls don't get to do anything but be there, more or less, one gets fridged and one gets shafted for the sake of her male companion. Airazor's death was an insult, I'm sorry, but it was. You're telling me that Scourge has the ability to corrupt and brainwash other Transformers and out of the dozens of characters he fights/comes close to over the course of the movie, the only one he uses that on is the sole female Maximal? Oh and just to add insult to injury: Bumblebee gets fatally stabbed in the first act, but gets magically revived during the climax through energon. Not Airazor though. She stays dead. I guess healing springs are boys only. Don't get me started on Elena. The movie spends so much time building her up as the Heart, the Brain to Noah's Brawn whose contributions are just as if not more important and then it screws her over in the climax by removing the one way for her to save the day so Noah and Optimus can do it instead. She literally gets dragged off the battlefield so the men can do the "real" fighting. Oh, and remember Airazor? The movie was teasing that Airazor could be to Elena what Mirage is to Noah, but not only does Airazor die, she attacks Elena beforehand and Elena is forced to witness Primal mercy-killing her. Fucking wow. Elena wasn't allowed to have anything in this movie. (Yes, it was nice to see her being credited with the discovery of the old underground city in Peru, but again: The fact that Noah was given major credit for helping save the world while she was more or less shoved into the background and ignored speaks volumes). You're probably wondering why I haven't said anything about Arcee and Nightbird yet. That's because there is nothing to say. They're barely characters in this movie. Arcee is flat as they come and Nightbird is just a villain who spouts eeevil one-liners. Thanks, I hate it.
We did not need a return of the Realistic Old Man robot designs. Stratosphere and Wheeljack look so deeply out of place next to the others. Why couldn't Wheeljack keep his design from Bumblebee (the movie) and just have it tweaked a bit to fit in on Earth? Seriously, were the "realistic" faces anyone's favorite part of the old Bayverse series? Optimus, Arcee's, Mirage's and Bumblebee's designs were already perfect. Just human enough to be readable, just otherworldly enough to be alien, why did we have to do Jackie and Strats like that???
I'm gonna say it: It was way too early to bring in Unicron as the Big Bad. In Transformers canon, Unicron is basically Thanos. You can allude to him, hint at him as a Greater Evil that's to come, but you do not bring in fucking Unicron as your Starter Villain! Imagine if in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 1, Thanos just showed up at the midpoint, teamed up with Ronan and got beaten by the Guardians. That's this movie with Unicron and Scourge. You already had perfectly serviceable villains with Scourge's team, you didn't need to waste the planet-level threat like that! Unicron should have been this constant looming presence in the background, someone we regularly see Scourge interact with and him managing to cross over should be a Worst Case Scenario, not the actual climax. He should not have appeared in person! Because now that the bubble's burst, the tension is gone. We don't need to be afraid of Unicron anymore, because the heroes already beat him once and he has no way to return. And where do you go to escalate from a literally planet-sized Transformer god who eats other planets as fuel??? Where do you escalate from there?? What or who could be more of a threat than a god??? There's a reason Unicron was the Big Bad for a whole separate movie in G1. Now that you had him, every other threat will inevitably look like a step down in comparison. The Decepticons will look like a step down in comparison! Good job Jody Harold, I didn't think anyone could shoot themselves in the foot that badly, but you've proved me wrong quite expertly. Bravo!/s
The Autobots and Maximals feel so underdeveloped. It's been an unfortunate trend in live-action Transformers that the actual Transformers are more window-dressing than anything else ever since Transformers (2007) and sadly, that's very much the case in this movie. Apart from Optimus and, if we're being extremely generous, Mirage, none of the Autobots get anything resembling a character arc or good character moments. Same for the Maximals. The Terrorcons are just generic villains who are neither hammy nor cool enough to leave a lasting impression. There are hints of potential, with the implication that the Terrorcons are remnants of worlds destroyed by Unicron that Unicron brainwashed into his service, but we never really elaborate on that. They're really just goons for the heroes to get whooped by in the first act, so they can be triumphantly defeated in the third act. They had something going with the Optimus/Scourge rivalry and the potential Scourge/Primal rivalry, but none of it is executed in a way that feels narratively satisfying. Optimus gets his ass beat once and Bumblebee gets stabbed trying to help him and from then on Optimus kinda wants revenge until he doesn't. Primal's brother Apelinq dies to Scourge while holding the line so the Maximals can escape their planet, but that's literally only mentioned once and then Primal just forgets he was supposed to hold a grudge, I guess. Watching the movie, it's pretty obvious the Transformers were an afterthought, which really shouldn't be the case in a movie series that has their name in the title.
The action is extremely underwhelming. The fight choreography is kind of okay, but everything feels way too floaty and weightless. There's no 'oomph' behind any of the punches, kicks or any physical attacks. Same goes for the gunfights. The characters might as well be firing with pea-shooters for all the damage any projectile does in this movie. Airazor's fire-breath is the closest thing a weapon comes in this movie to being actually threatening, because she's allowed to do actual damage that isn't shrugged off. If there's anything to be said for the original Bayverse movies, it's that the fights were phenomenal. You could actually feel the characters were heavy, you could tell they were getting hurt. Nothing about this film's fight-scenes feels tense or engaging. Just a bunch of robots shooting blue pellets at one another and doing flips in-between. That's it. Bumblebee (2018) only had like three major fight-scenes and it still managed to outdo this one in terms of solid action. The big battle scene in the climax tries to feel grand and high-stakes, but it doesn't work because you don't care for most of these characters. Though I will admit, Primal kill-stealing from Optimus and Optimus being indignant about it was funny. Maybe I would have cared more if we'd had more interactions like that between the characters.
Conclusion:
This movie was mid in every way. Some characters stood out, most didn't. The story was nothing to write home about, the acting is solid for the most part but the action doesn't deliver and you constantly feel like there could have been more if the movie handled its time better.
4.5/10, Bumblebee (2018) did it better.

Time for a trip to Ban tan now as it's custom jade armor season time. Two parts, with each arc explained.
Side A: Mirror into the past
"Lan jun has a hard time trying to catch all the new jade shards after defeating the crimson king last season. However, after a shard causes a paradigm shift in the crimson clan, she'll have to go further to rebalance the playing field whilst a stranger brings a dire warning..."
Right, Lan Jun is pushing her limits to try and catch each shard that's appearing, which is nearly every hour currently, and an episode focuses on her learning to balance herself. Another episode grants powers to her friends after catching four shards at once. At a mystic gathering, the black tiger plans a heist to catch the dragon beasticon but is thwarted before stealing a sharded card deck to try again until the cards run out. Here, lan Jun asks of her future, which greatly pains the reader showing her side B events up to the finale, warning her not to fall to pieces...
The crimson clan are leaderless until kai's father wins ownership through combat and begins searching for the shards, with kai trying to secretly sabotage them during the episodes, wanting his normal father back as if the power's driving him mad.
Now, Lloyd fully enters in episode 12 after appearing as a new student and laying low until a shard forces students to disobey everyone and vandalise stuff. As a consequence, everyone is to be slimed orange to show obedience to the crimson clan. Lloyd high tails it and begins moving very, very fast until reaching an alleyway and having a breakdown, causing a unique shard to appear that everyone's after. An indigo shard that amplifies powers and physique. Lan Jun finds Lloyd Sat in a particular way and invites him into her home. There, he hovers, worrying about taking off his footwear and ending up on the porch where he's casually talking to himself. After L.J. sits with him wearing specific glasses, he completely freaks out and nearly falls off the railing, whilst he's receiving visions of 2016, 2017, and The herald showing him the visitors helmet. Poor L.J.'s clueless but helps calm him down, which he says he's not usually like this and presents the indigo jade shard and after cleansing the shard, she teaches Lloyd how to cook as he can't really cook himself. At school, L.J. accepts the consequence, knowing the truth and helping calm others whilst Lloyd watches from a distance, but no one can see him as he's informed of terrible news: The Seven are gone. It's him and paradigm now.
Side B: Crimson Crack
"The crimson clan seeks the power to crack jade's armor, which a terrifying foe uses to her advantage. Before long, lan Jun faces the most dangerous days, yet as the battle looming decides more than just Ban Tan."
Lloyd's now regularly showing up and helping the team and the clan learn of the shatter shard, that can break any armor from a mysterious lady. Before ep 20, loose storylines such as our thieves and the crimson lord's life after season one begin to close as they sense danger looming...
The crimson clan strikes to claim the shatter shard with very familiar fluid abilities that Lloyd recognises as he finds out the paradigm's plan. Jade Armor is hit by the shard, causing her Armor to splinter into four parts, but before the clan can claim them, Lloyd forces the parts to her friends as he gets her to safety. Fearing the herald's involvement, he has to go off to do something else entirely to try and balance things as the others try to save the town. Lloyd's gone to the beasticon's bracelet was made, using the indigo shard to unlock a temporary gateway to the bridge in which he's looking at lots of objects that broke throughout words, including the watcher's broken helmet, claire's staff and surprisingly multiple phones with red paint in a corner, somehow. He's searching for the spare one made when a hologram of the paradigm appears informing him of attempting zero fusion and saying he'll be the only one left as it seems it'll take all her energy to hold it together and passing him the spare reminding him to remember the seven and what they did for everyone. She even suggests jonsey may be a good member. Lloyd leaves and rifts back to give to L.J. with her mother temporarily gaining human form due to what the paradigm's doing.
The clan begin experiencing chromed members into statues and the leader calls for a fight that they all precede to defeat him and opens a chrome rift that pulls the statues and kai's father in so L.J and Lloyd enter to rescue them, whilst lan Jun finds someone else and decides to save them whilst Lloyd brings the father out. It's the herald that L.J.'s going for, and after freeing her, they're launched out violently, and L.J. hits a wall very badly and isn't responding. The herald wakes to Lloyd staring at her with blade, pointed at her having a meltdown over her, taking the seven away from him before looking at jade and standing down, saying she's done enough already. She risked her life to save someone who shows no mercy. Somehow, she wakes up but notes the impact left L.J. in the armor, but her normal self is showing without a helmet. It's certainly shocking, and everyone's trying to see if she's okay.
Lloyd and the herald talk over what she's done, and he's the last of the seven. The herald says she wasn't always like this and decides to travel the omniverse to help make amends. L.J. explains she survived because the paradigm used her energy and can't be found anywhere, and Lloyd has to leave to help assist in controlling the damage. She hugs Lloyd before she goes, but he says he should be the one hugging.
Yeah, that last hashtag...

You guys have no idea how much Azul’s new SSR means to me.
There are things I’m going to be losing from this. Obviously, I’m going to see my gem and key count dwindle because I have no idea if I’m going to be lucky tomorrow. I have exams next week, and this event is going to really affect my concentration horribly. I really can’t afford to not get low scores on these exams since my grades are horrible.
But this card… It’s everything that I’ve been dreaming of for the past two years.
Tumblr media
I’ve gone through two whole years of eating crumbs, and maybe that sounds entitled since Azul got his story and SSR really early on. But it’s because his story was concluded really early on that afterwards, I don’t get to hear much from him. I really only look forward to February, I have to seek food about him from other characters (especially from Jade and Floyd), I have to feed myself every day with my own thoughts. Some days, I’ve considered on looking for new fandoms to join because I’ve gotten bored of even myself. But I still stay because of two things: (1) I have friends who still love this game very much, and (2) Azul means so much to me that it’s enough of a reason to stay.
And now, here we have him. A beautiful SSR in the most gorgeous outfit. There are so many things I want to say about this card because it is every single fantasy in my head coming to life.
Like, the setting? I once had a Honeymoon Un Deux Trois phase back in 2020-early 2021. There was something about dancing a waltz with Azul that really made me feel so giddy for months. I would always imagine us under the moonlight, on stone streets and bridges with lamps on, and dancing to that song. I never cared if it was graceful or not, because it was a dance with Azul.
Babes, besties, and bitches, the setting of that card art is exactly the setting of that imagination. Even the lights of those buildings are the same. It’s like Yana read my mind and put it on a digital canvas. The only thing different is the gate behind Azul, but otherwise, it’s everything that I’ve seen in my dreams.
Then Azul’s outfit! I’ve long entertained the idea of Azul in a masquerade outfit since last year. It was so appealing because he hides behind a mask all the time to seem more pleasing to others. It pushed me to plan out and write a (work in progress) fic where Azul is a masked pianist. He’d be decked in black and purple, mostly purple. He’d have a hat with a feather, and he’d be wearing a mask with that same shape you see on the card.
You know in fact, I always imagined since late last year that the next Abema stream was going to be me seeing Azul getting a masquerade SSR. And then I would be screaming.
And 😭 I got it. I got the masquerade card, and his outfit has similarities to what I envisioned for him. I now also know that his hat is called a tricone, and that is really awesome to know.
And to top it all off? His tailcoat. I always loved tailcoats even as a kid. There was something about how simple it is yet the way it billows in the breeze as it trails behind you creates a certain aura about you. It looks classy and almost authoritative. It catches your attention.
And guess what? Azul Ashengrotto comes in with at least 6 tail ends on his tailcoat.🧍This mcfucking octopus.
Anyway, I’m just… I am just so happy right now. 😭 Sundays have recently been my worst day of the week for certain reasons, but I had such a great day today because of Azul.
The gacha is coming tomorrow, which is really exciting but also anxiety inducing xD! I really want to stream for everyone, but I don’t think I can :( I think my stream would end up lagging horribly. But I’ll definitely share what happens here.
This post is really different from how I’d usually scream about Azul. I’ll admit, much of my energy is gone because I have melted down in a vc with friends xD but mainly, I just feel so tender about this card. It’s two years of my dreams put on a screen for the world to see. It’s two years of all the times I thought about him, talked about him, wrote about him, bringing me to a time when I can actually for the first time freak out about his event SSR when I could not do that for Beans Day. It’s two years of loving him, and now I’m here. 🥲 And I’m so thankful and happy right now.

The Executor was one of the fastest ships in the galaxy. Vader had seen to that. While he no longer personally tinkered with his own crafts, he provided instructions on every detail of the Star Destroyer. So detailed that his lead engineer traveled with the Sith Lord and his 501st in order to take care of any needed repairs or upgrades along the way. He hadn’t intended for it to be that way, but after moving through a number of incompetent engineers, he’d finally had to settle on a man who had done the main repairs on the Resolute during the Clone Wars. Vader had no interest in positioning anyone that had known Anakin Skywalker so close to him, much less on such a consistent basis, but Dash Hennis was a rare talent.
A rare talent that had been capable of upgrading the hyperdrive engines to the specifications that was allowing the Executor to gain on the Aeres in record time. Perhaps even close enough on the smaller Destroyer’s tail that Jade would not be able to steal the intelligence out from under him. Good. Dash Hennis would live to see another rotation.
Vader pushed a breath out at the thought, opening himself up to touch lightly on the bond he shared with his son to see if they should push the drives a little harder. If he hadn’t been actively reaching out, it might not have hit him quite as hard. As it was, in that moment, he might as well have been burning himself.
There was a white-hot flash, flames licking at exposed skin, and a flash of frustration mixed with pain.
Then nothing. Silence. Weighty, suffocating silence, and even though his suit forced air in and out of his damaged lungs, he couldn’t breathe.
“My Lord?” Admiral Ozzel’s tentative voice cut through the raging quiet, ripping Darth Vader out of the vision to find himself knelt on the bridge, his son’s pain driving him to his knees in front of an entire crew desperate to pretend that they hadn’t noticed. An entire crew save one perpetually stupid admiral.
Vader dragged himself back to his feet as a sputtering Ozzel fell to the floor. He wanted to gawk? Fine. Let him suffer what the Dark Lord had felt and see if he could survive the weight of it. Unlikely.

cynic doesn't have family! ... family that he will acknowledge, anyway. at least as of recent years with his relationships to some friend's muses (libra, ellen), he's managed to develop some found family dynamics that while he wont openly admit thats what it is, he's still fiercely protective of.
before that, he had emi, tails, and knuckles, but these are all people he's either pushed away, burned bridges with, or just doesn't keep much in contact with.
and before that, there was his biological family. his mother, bernadette, his father, julius, and the extended family, uncle chuck and grandpa maurice. julius' death greatly shook up the family dynamic, and maurice fell ill not long after. as a result, they weren't able to fly out to visit as much anymore, so... it was really just cynic and his mom. his mom who was there but not there.
the one person who consistently supported him emotionally was someone nobody knew about, and is a huge reason why cynic not only became more jaded/nihilistic all around, but turned out so vindictive and alarmingly violent. that would be the mephiles of his dimension, aka 'sol.' who is one of the only people he will consciously accept as being like family to him.
