Here’s all I know today. Sometimes, it’s a struggle. Sometimes it’s hard to sit still, other times all you want to do is nothing at all. I’ve had a take a big step back this week and assess my own mental health and what it means to take care of myself when I’m responsible for 2 tiny humans, the podcast and maintaining a healthy relationship with my partner in life. Creative people often experience this urge to do everything and do it now. Another great idea for your project? Start it now. Got a million things to juggle? Bury your head in the sand instead of prioritising. Make lists of lists of lists until you feel so overwhelmed you risk becoming ill. And this doesn’t even consider those who have experienced abuse, trauma and coercion. What about the effects of this on every day life? It’s exhausting. And so, instead of changing my own goal posts, setting impossible tasks for myself and stressing about the deadlines I have created, I’ve taken some time to practice self-care. As well as some time on the Xbox, here are some of the things I have done to manage my low and anxious mood this week. What tips do you have for managing things? Hiking with a 17 year old and 14 year old, it took a moment to realize that they are growing up way to fast.  I had them stop and describe this flower.  Even during a pandemic where we were stuck for months, the adjectives they used made me tear up.  Taking time to just slow down and look at nature, may be what we are missing.  Don’t forget to Mask Up, it is for the greater good.

Often, I see someone responding to my words with skepticism, and sometimes outright dismissal. I do not fault them. I do not speak of these things because I have got it all figured out. I speak of these things because I, too, struggle and fall short. I speak of these things because someone, somewhere, is struggling too. Among those struggling, are souls who doubt themselves. I speak of these things because maybe those souls are hearing my voice or reading my posts. And maybe, hopefully, they will be reminded that they are not alone.
