some resin comparisons (jan 2023)

here they are! the natural light images are truest to life, though the tans look more different in reality. dika doll tan is a smidge yellower (though that may just be age), and fairyland tan is much redder. I had heard that fairyland and unoa tans were close enough to hybrid easily, but they do seem significantly different in person- it would likely work if a unoa head was given a warm/reddish faceup though. 

the fairyland tan and normal resins, the alchemic labo unoa paradise and fresh resins, and the dollzone yellow resin have been kept almost completely out of the sunlight (until this picture lol). the other two have been in the sun underneath wigs.

put this unoa zest head on my huajing thorne's body and. i think we have a winner.

i cannot stand colormatching, so what I'm doing with this lad is airbrushing his head white, and his decolletage white as well, and doing some trad goth makeup. a graceful transition between the white and the skin. also good because his head cap is tan.

i wanted this sculpt so bad that I ordered a flawed leftover from alchemic labo, with a head back that isn't made for him at all, and forced it to work. I used an electric nail file to mod it.

i think with proper hair and eyes he will be gorgeous.

So...

This is a big troublesome problem for me 🥲

If you have followed me on instagram for a while (or maybe even here), you know I'm a big advocat for Youpladolls. I love her dolls, love her sculpts, love the resin colours, love the resin itself. I love their posing and stability and quite frankly, I consider myself her number 1 fan 😅

I own all her MSD and smaller sculpts (except for Vlad, though he is the same sculpt as Vaéron, just with human ears, so... that still counts), and I have a strict "One Doll Per Sculpt" rule, that I usually manage to hold myself up to, to at least SOMEWHAT keep my collection at bay.

Only exception so far are 2 Unoa sculpts that I actually have a double, but these are related, so. Different.

Now. Youpla is the one that always makes me want to break this rule. Starting with Ziya, I've wanted a tan Ziya to begin with. Got a petal one because I missed the last preorder and the instock tan one sold within minutes. Got tempted immediately half a year later when she brought dark tan Ziya to LDoll... (I wouldn't have gotten the petal one had I known she was making this beauty for LDoll...). And ever since then I've been tempted to buy a tan one whenever I saw one for sale.

So now I COULD order one. I COULD order a tan one, or I COULD go for the chocolate colour (which is a new skin tone different to the old chocolate from Lupita's preorder, and close to the Dark Tan...).

I'm KINDA glad the chocolate is not like the old skin colour, because then I'd ALSO be tempted to get a Lupita in chocolate... When she was released I knew I wanted the dark tan, as I had seen it on LDoll in person and knew it was gorgeous. But the lighter chocolate looked so pretty as well, so I almost bought both back then.

But now I'm tempted to get a petal Lupita as well, because... imagine how cute an albino look would be on her?

But in the end, my "One Doll Per Sculpt" rule is still keeping me at bay.

The only thing that is ACTUALLY tempting me (and I mean, really, whispering in my ear to go for it), is getting a chocolate Vàna... I'm pretty sure the sculpt will be discontinued after this preorder, together with Olive and Ophélie (and possibly Ziya as well due to age of the mold?), so this would be the last chance... and why would I get her?? I HAVE a Vàna. In fact, Vàna was my 3rd BJD (after 2 Minifees I bought together) and the first one I actually fell in love at first sight. I love her dearly, but the thing is, she's in mint and therefore not "compatible" with the rest of my crew. She has her own people (Celeste in purple and Vaéron in turquoise) and her own universe. So if I got her in chocolate, she could hang out with the rest of the crew...

And to be completely honest, this thought is seriously haunting me (in the most positive way possible)...

I still have time until beginning of April to think about it...

Unoa L-Bi 'Box' Opening.

I used to have a Unoa L-Bi, but I sold him and now I wanted him back. But this time in tan rather than pale skin.

It is a little more trouble to order now that Unoa Alchemy is gone and I hadn't seen anyone stateside selling an L-Bi head by itself lately.

Alchemic Labo doesn't ship directly to outside of Japan, but Alchemic Labo gives clear directions on how to get through the ordering process and Tenso was easy enough to use. The main hurdle was that due to Japanese law for avoiding shady mail shenanigans, tenso wants a photo of a driver's license and the DMV screwed up my new DL so that took the longest...

I was surprised it was mailed paper bag lunch style, no damage though.

Due to using tenso, they threw in a free face plate

They are "B-Grade" but the air bubbles are so small a face-up will hide them easily and they aren't that noticeable to start with.

I'm hoping that Doll Family H resin will match, but I don't think I will get him a body for a while.

Sometimes the camera turns him more yellow-toned, but his resin is definitely redder than MYOU Coffee and Luts Realskin Brown

bee is a tan unoa elder ange, she was on a tan fairyline body in this photo (really want her to be Short)

Sugar apple fairy tale es tal como su nombre lo dice, un mundo donde existen las hadas y la historia gira alrededor de artesanos del azúcar~

No soy muy fan de las series de romance, así que encontrarme con algo que me llame la atención es bastante inusual~

Principalmente me llamó su diseño de personajes, su estética es sencilla y muy bonita. Los personajes son carismáticos, la historia es interesante (hay dulces, es suficiente) y los momentos de romance son muy lindos ywy 💕

Pero me hizo sentir la necesidad de poner a Xiao como un hada de jade ywy)9

Quizá uno de estos días me animo a escribir algo chiquito, muy chiquito~

Y no es que tenga alguna fijación especial por Kat y Keith, obvio no... OBVIAMENTE SÍ, pero hay que disimular!!! xD

Apenas voy en el capítulo 6, Keith todavía no aparece pero ya lo amo, a ver si mi opinión cambia en unoa cuántos episodios (???)

i'm looking for an unoa rowan metia or prim in any resin color, though i would prefer tan. if anyone is selling any of these, let me know and let's talk!

(I know these are rare girls so I'm open to name-your-price; I have a very general idea of how much they should go for, but I understand how hard these are to find. if you've got one you'd like to sell, let's discuss!)

(I also don't think unoa zeros have ever been cast in tan, but if so i'm wtb one as well! i'm pretty sure they haven't, though.)

very exciting day yesterday for my dolls! the shiwoo head I got in december to reshell raymonde got a faceup since the weather has been nice enough, and she looks so much nicer! I’m so glad that I decided to reshell her- I was really nervous that I wasn’t going to like the shiwoo sculpt for her either but it’s perfect :) her wig does need to be restyled since it has gotten a little crazy again, but she is super close to being complete!

some eyes that I bought secondhand from blacksheepdolls also came in yesterday! the transaction went really smoothly and the eyes are lovely :) lemon, dove, and marie are wearing some of them in the bottom row of images 👁

I got my DfH slim girl body and I love it 😁

It comes with silicone kips in hip joints, shoulders, and the neck, and also has wired legs and arms.

I think the wire might be needed for the elbow because the new joint of this body is an odd form. I'll try to check the posing once I have the time to actually take her apart, but a friend said that it's not as good as the old joint...

They also have little ridges in the wrist and ankle joint where you can rest your hooks for easy change of parts. I love this so much because it's as easy as magnetic hands/feet without the annoying feet-sticking-in-your-shoes issue 😬

Colour match of new dfh tan with fairyland and unoa. Fairyland is way more rosy and also more muted. It looks almost greyish in photos, which is so interesting because their tan is actually quite saturated imo??

Unoa paradise skin is actually... a pretty good match? DfH is a tad more orange, but it is so miniscule that it is barely noticeable irl and basically non-existent on camera. I will take photos on Saturday in daylight to check if it still works as well as it seems to, but I'm very, very pleased!!

I think unoa heads work also pretty well on the body, proportions wise? In my experience, unoas tend to have swan neck syndrome with a lot of other bodies, but this one isn't too bad, actually! I like it! And it's perfect for the head I bought it for:

She now needs a name.

And possibly a new faceup because I just scratched/ chipped her lip. Twice.

No one could say if Doll Family H tan matches Unoa Paradise tan so I bought some feet and they aren't 100% but the difference is pretty small. (Artificial and sunset sunlight)

My other dfh dolls don't seem as glossy as these feet. The unoa resin is way more matte

Ok so if I have an AP body, I need a different head for it. The DD head she comes with is too big.

I think their default heads are closer to Unoa size... I HAD one, even. But she was tan skin so it doesn’t really matter.
