I Said a Basement Not Our Basement

This is a request from @natashamea18, I hope you like it. Also I made Catherine a grade A bitch in this, sorry 😂

Catherine’s POV

When we discovered that are target was in Oahu and it would be an all hands on deck situation I got clearance to bring Steve and his task force on board.

I smile when I see Steve sitting in his office having a heated conversation with someone on the phone. I knock on the door before slipping in and smirk at the surprise on Steve’s face. He wraps up the phone call before gesturing for me to take a seat and clears his throat, “Catherine, what are you doing here?”

I lean forward with a smile, “I need the teams help.” He bites the inside of his cheek and he clasps his hand, “Okay, I’ll call everyone and you can debrief.”

While we’re waiting on the rest of the team I look at Steve and notice he’s keeping his distance yet he’s also close, he close enough for friends but far enough away that it’s obvious our relationship is nothing more than friendship. I frown, well, I have a lot to do to rekindle our spark.

When the team gets here and surround the computer I start the debrief, “I’m here on official CIA business, we’ve been chasing a wanna be terrorist. He’s working his way up the ranks and has killed hundreds of thousands of people. We were closing in and found out he relocated here. As of right now we have no reason to believe he’s here to wreak havoc we believe he’s trying to hide out.” I throw his picture up on the screen, “His name Amir Cleaden.”

Two hours later and Steve and I are navigating through the forest tracking Amir as Junior and Tani come in from the south and Danny and Grover come in from the west to hopefully cut him off.

Now is as good a time as any to talk to Steve about us trying things out again, “So Steve, how are you doing? It’s been a few years.” He glances at me and nods, “Yeah it has been. I’m good, really good.” He pauses and stops walking to face me, “Look, Cath there’s something I need to tell yo-,” he’s cut off by gunshots echoing from up ahead.

We run to where the gunshots came from to see Amir and four other guys in a shoot out with Tani, Junior, Danny, and Grover. We need Amir alive so we focus on taking out the other men and leaving Amir alive. After the whole shoot out is over with, Amir is in custody with a graze on his shoulder and everyone else is unharmed, except for the four guys that we killed.

*Back at HQ*

Once Amir is in the hands of the CIA I look at the team with a wide smile, “How about we grab a couple drinks, I’ll buy the first round.” Junior and Tani agree and Danny and Grover glance at Steve. I wonder what that’s about. Once everyone agrees we decide to go to Rumfire and that we’ll meet up there around 7 so everyone has time for a shower.

I smile as I walk into my hotel room, I’ll talk to Steve tonight, tell him that I still love him and I want to get back together, for good this time.

Steve’s POV

I groan when I get in my truck and throw my head back against the headrest and mutter, “Why did I say yes? Fuck! What do I tell Y/N?” I run my hand down my face before starting the truck and heading home.

When I get home I close the door and yell for Y/N, “Babe! I’m home!” I don’t hear an answer and furrow my eyebrows as I walk further into the house. I chuckle when I see her outside playing fetch with Eddie. I step outside and wrap my arms around her waist causing her to tense up. I kiss her cheek and she automatically relaxes into my hold, “How was work?”

I frown and she spins around when I don’t answer. She cups my jaw with worry swimming in her eyes, “Steve, what’s wrong? Is everyone okay?” I nod before leading her to the patio chairs, “Yeah, but I need to talk to you.”

She sits beside me and faces me before laying a hand on my knee, “Steve, what is it?” I sigh and grab her hand running my thumb across her knuckles, “She’s back Y/N/N.” She cocks her head to the side and furrows her brows, “Who’s back?” I glance at her and within seconds I know she knows who. Her eyes harden and her gaze turns to a glare, “Catherine.”

I nod and slide forward, “Y/N, I swear I didn’t know she was coming, I didn’t even know she was around here. If I knew I would have told you but she just showed up today and asked for help for the CIA.” She licked her teeth before slotting her knee in between mine, “Steve, it’s okay, I’m not mad or upset with you. I would have liked a phone call or something but I understand why you didn’t. Knowing you you got a mission, locked in on said mission and blocked everything out until you succeed at your mission. Kind of like how you were when deciding to ask me out.”

I playfully glared at her and let a small smile slip onto my face, “That is not what happened when I asked you out.” She burst out laughing and kisses my cheek, “Steven, you literally interrupted me trying to answer you to tell me that you hadn’t executed your plan yet! You treated our first date like a tactical mission!” I smiled and nod, “Yeah okay maybe a little bit, but I do have to say, it was the most important mission of my life, still is.”

She pulls back with a smile and kisses me and I remember I haven’t told her about tonight. I pull back a little and sigh, “Hold on, I’m not done.” She leans back and her face resumes the ticked off face she had before, “Is she staying? Because if she is I’ll rip her fucking eyes out.” My eyes widen and I grab her shoulders, “Woah there tiger, that was a long time ago, I’m over it.” She glares before shaking her head, “I don’t give a rats ass, she broke your heart, left you behind holding an engagement ring and a broken heart.”

I’m not surprised by her reaction, ever since she found out how the whole thing went down she doted over me for like a month and swore to kill Catherine of she ever came back. I smile remembering how she cried in my arms after I told her everything because she felt horrible that someone broke my heart, probably wasn’t best to tell her on her period but can’t change it now.

I grab her hips and pull her onto my lap before running my thumb across her cheekbone. Her eyes soften and she leans into my hand, “Y/N, I’m okay, I have you now.” I grab her left hand and hold it up between us, “See, the one I really love already said yes, she just has to say I do and then no turning back.” She tilts her head with a mischievous smile, “There’s always divorce.” I pulled her closer and shook my head, “Nope, I’ll lock you in a basement.”

“We don’t even have a basement Steve.”

“I said a basement not our basement.”

She rolled her eyes and pulled me in for a kiss that was on its way to being something much less innocent but I still haven’t told her about tonight. I huff and pull away causing her to pout, “Oh come on, I’m ovulating I’m horny as fuck and you won’t fuck me. What am I supposed to do? Ask Junior?”

I grit my jaw and lock eyes with her mischievous eyes, “Absolutely not. I’ll fuck you in like five minutes, give me a second would ya.” She smiles and nods before sighing when she realizes it’s a Catherine problem, “Rip the bandaid off already, I tried to distract you from telling me whatever it is you know will upset me but obviously I failed.”

I peck her nose before ripping the bandaid off like she asked, “We’re meeting her for drinks at Rumfire at 7.” I threw in an innocent smile to soften the blow but her body goes rigid, “We’re what!?”

I sigh as she crawls off my lap and sits back in the chair she started off in, “Does she even know about you, ya know, having a fiancé?” Her words drip with venom and I scratch my jaw in nervousness and she scoffs, “Really? You didn’t tell her?” I frown and shake my head, “No, but I tried. I almost said it and then we got in a shootout right before I said it and it slipped my mind.”

Y/N’s POV

I hate Catherine with a passion, Steve declares that it never bothered him she left him before he proposed but I know it still hurts him. I’m not mad at him whatsoever but I’m royally pissed at her. I glance at Steve and see the guilt in his eyes and sigh knowing he didn’t do anything wrong and I shouldn’t take my anger for Catherine out on him, he doesn’t deserve it.

I crawl back into his lap and cuddle into his neck, “I’m sorry, I’m not mad at you, I promise.” I place a kiss on his neck and he lets out a content sigh, “We don’t have to go, the rest of the team is going and I know you haven’t hung out with Tani lately and you’ve been dying too.” I melt at the fact he’s genuinely ready to stand up his team for me and I shake my head, “No, we’re going, on one condition.”

I pull back and glance in his eyes as he urges me to continue, “Let me mark you.” His eyebrows shoot up and he stutters, “W-what?” I chuckle at his surprise and rub his shoulders, “I mark you, you mark me, she backs off and realizes you’re happily taken.” He quirks an eyebrow and points to my engagement ring, “Isn’t that what that’s for?”

I frown and realize he knows my ulterior motive, “Fine, you caught me, I just want to have sex.” He runs a hind under the hem of my shirt and grazes my back, “I know, besides, I need a shower anyways.” I shudder at his touch and his words before pulling him into a kiss.

Catherine’s POV

I was sitting at a table with the team waiting on Steve who was uncharacteristically two minutes late. No one else at the table seemed surprised and it made me wonder if he’s been like this since I left. I glance up at Danny as he comes back to the table with drinks, “Where’s Steve?” I see him blow air our of his cheeks before taking a seat, “He’ll be here, he text me and told me he would be here.” He pauses for a minute before sighing, “He’ll be here soon.”

Danny takes a sip of his drink and looks like he’s hiding something, “Danny? What aren’t you telling me?” His eyes widen and he looks at the others for help but they all shrug and leave him on his own. “That’s not my place to say Catherine.” I sigh at the hidden venom behind his words knowing that for Steve and I to work out I would have to work things out with Danny.

I glance up when Junior waves and Tani jumps up and runs to a woman before pulling her into a tight hug. I furrow my brows wondering who she is but my eyes widen when I see her companion. She’s on the arm of Steve, my Steve. I narrow my eyes and silently groan, great now I have to get him to break up with his girlfriend. Knowing Steve he’s only been in the relationship for a few months if not less so it shouldn’t be too hard.

Y/N’s POV

I chuckle as Tani all but jumps into my arms, “Girl, it’s been ages!” I hug her back and laugh, “Sorry, I’ve been a little busy with work, you know teachers always getting breaks.” She laughs before pulling away and her excitement is quickly replaced with worry as she glances between me and Steve, “You okay with being here?” I know what she means and nod with a small smile as Steve squeezes my hand, “Yeah, she doesn’t bother me anymore, he’s made it clear she’s dead to him.” Steve chokes back a laugh but Tani lets hers out, “Oh my God I don’t think those were his words.” I shrug, “It’s what he meant.”

Steve smiles and kisses my cheek, “Yeah babe, that’s what I meant.” I hug him and lean into him before Tani gasps, “Holy shit y’all are bruised!” I blush and see the smallest of blushes on Steve’s face as I nod, “We got a little carried away.” She nods, “As long as I’m the godmother.”

Steve and I laugh before heading to the table and I don’t miss the way Steve tightens his hold on me as if the sight of Catherine will send me out the door and out of his life. I run my thumb along his thumb as I sidle up against his side so that he knows I’m not going anywhere.

When we get to the table I slap on a welcoming smile even though on the inside I’m itching to tackle her to the floor. Danny moves to sit beside Catherine and I smile at him silently letting him know how thankful I am that he made it so neither Steve or I had to sit beside Catherine.

I sit in the chair Steve pulls out for me but not before I place a quick kiss on his cheek as a thank you, something that I do every time he pulls out my chair. I glance at Catherine to see her cold glare burning into me and I bite back a smirk as I realize she’s locked in on the marks decorating my neck and the three on Steve’s neck.

I grab the drink Danny hands to me before making eye contact with Catherine. I maintain a smile and don’t let my inner hatred and anger seep through as she locks her eyes onto Steve. Steve clears his throat before grabbing the beer Danny offers him and taking a big gulp.

Catherine’s POV

I couldn't help the jealousy that bubbles over when Steve pulls mystery woman’s chair out for her. I feel anger flow through my veins as I notice the rather fresh hickeys decorating Steve’s throat along with his girlfriends neck which is absolutely littered with them.

When we make eye contact I scowl before plastering on a fake smile, “Hi, I’m Catherine, I’m Steve’s ex girlfriend.” I make sure to slap on the ex girlfriend part just to show her he’s still mine. She seems to get the hint and I’m taken aback a little as she sips her drink and nods with that never fading smile, “I know, it’s lovely to meet you Catherine. I haven’t heard much about you but you’ve been mentioned a few times. Im Y/N.” I glance at Steve hurt that he didn’t talk about me. I watch as he runs a hand down his face before I turn my attention back to Y/N, god I hate that name it just sounds bitter on my tongue. She wants to play sweet girlfriend who can’t be swayed I’ll make it obvious that Steve is mine, always has been and always will be.

Danny’s POV

My eyes widen as Catherine and Y/N lock eyes and I know this isn’t going to end well. Sure Catherine was in the Navy and dated Steve first but Y/N, she’s different than any relationship I’ve witnessed Steve in, including Catherine. Y/N may be a middle school teacher but she is not someone to get on the bad side of, especially if it’s about Steve, she will rip you to shreds.

I glance at Steve to see him as pale as a ghost and looking like he wants to be anywhere but here as the girls continue their wordless pissing contest. I throw him a sympathetic look and he responds with a small smile before drinking half his beer in one go and then Catherine speaks and Steve automatically goes into protective boyfriends mode.

Catherine’s POV

I grit my jaw before smirking, “So, what exactly are you? One night stand? Summer fling? Friends with benefits?” I notice Steve go rigid as his eyes harden into a glare, a glare directed at me. There’s no way he’s actually serious about this chick, she’s pathetic.

Y/N’s eye twitches as she smiles a sinister smile, “No, I’m a girlfriend of two years and a fiancé of ten months. What are you? A stuck up bitch who can’t get over a relationship that obviously didn’t go anywhere and can’t process that he never really needed you?” I feel my stomach drop and my heart shatter at the word fiancé, he’s engaged? I glance at her left hand and she’s enough there’s a shimmering diamond ring sitting on her ring finger.

I open my mouth in disbelief as I glance at Steve and everyone else around the table to see them either fighting back a smirk or hiding their smile behind their drinks. I sit up deciding I’m not going down without a fight, “I’m sorry, I’m the stuck up bitch? At least I gave him what he wanted. What did you give him, chlamydia?” She balls her hand into a fist before making an angry noise, “You didn’t give him anything! You think he wanted a broken heart? No, I didn’t think so, you had your chances and you fucked them up. He moved on get over it. Let me slow it down so your lone brain cell can understand, he. is. not. in. love. with. you.”

I scoff and stand angrily and she follows suit, “You think you’re so much better than me don’t you?” She raises her eyebrows and laughs, “No, I know I am. Why don’t you just tell everyone the real reason you’re here? They know I’m sure but why don’t you say it?”

I glance at the table and see everyone watching us like we’re the next big thing before glaring at Y/N, “Fuck. You.”

Y/N’s POV

“Fuck. You.”

I smirk before crossing my arms, “Sorry, I fuck him.” I throw my thumb back to point at Steve and Catherine’s jaw drops and she takes a step forward expecting me to back down. I straighten up and don’t move a muscle as she comes face to face with me to the point our noses at touching, “He is mine. He loves me you’re just a body to fill the space.”

I tilt my head with a small smile, “Why don’t you ask Steve? So you can hear it from him and know where you stand.” She backs up a little and I look at Steve and a frown comes across my face as he looks heartbroken, he’s not still in love with her is he?

He stands up and I glance at Danny when Steve steps toward Catherine and not me. I suck in a breath as he leans towards Catherine but sigh in relief at his words. “Leave Catherine. I love her, more than I ever loved you and if you can’t respect her then leave, and don’t bother coming back this time because when you do there’ll be nothing left here for you.”

I watch as Catherine growls and stomps towards me and goes to hit me but I intercept her hit. I grab her wrist and twist her arm behind her back, “Did I forget to mention I’m trained in martial arts? Oops.” I release her arm and cross my arms, “Door’s that way, I would invite you to the wedding but I’m trying to keep the trash out, for the ocean and all.”

She looks around for help from the team but when no one moves to help her she rushes out of the building. I turn to Steve but he walks out the door in the back that leads to the patio. I sigh and run a hand through my hair before glancing at Danny, “I’ll be back.” He nods with a small smile as I rush after Steve.

My heart breaks a little when I see him on the patio leaning on the railing with his shoulders sagged, a tell that means he’s upset. I bite my cheek before walking up to him. I follow his eyes out to watch the sunset and without sparing a glance at him I grab his hand, “I’m sorry, for everything.”

I see him shake his head out of my peripheral before squeezing my hand, “It hurts more than I thought it would. I don’t love her not anymore but it still hurts. I don’t know how to explain it where it doesn’t make you feel bad.” I smile a little as I turn to him, “I know baby.” I pull him into a hug and fight back tears as I whisper, “I know,” one last time before we fall into a comforting silence.

He buries his face in my hair before whispering, “I love you, you’ll never understand how much. Everything she said was a lie, I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone and I don’t want to lose you.” I frown as I realize he’s worried I’m going to leave because of what she said. I lean back and cup his face with my hands remembering our conversation from earlier, “Don’t make me lock you in a basement Steve.”

He quirks a small smile, “We don’t even have a basement Y/N.”

I pull him in until our lips are brushing and whisper with a chuckle, “I said a basement not our basement.”

I know they're talking about Junior and Magnum, but honestly?

For an episode where Danny was absent, his presence was put into such glowing light by everyone, but especially by Steve who couldn't let the parallel between himself and Danny, and Magnum/Higgins go to waste. No Sir.

So yeah, Higgins is talking about Magnum and Tani is thinking about Junior (whom we know she'll ask out for a date at the end of the episode), but do they really think we're so stupid we can't do math and see whom else this rule can be applied to?

danny and tani are the underrated duo we should've gotten more screen time for. after all he did call her the 'female steve mcgarrett' and they're both sarcastic and witty. you can see they have chemistry together. you can't tell me they aren't platonic sassmaster buddies that gang up on steve when he's being dumb (affectionate) and just commit general chaos with snarky one liners

H50 9x23 Junior is about to do something stupid and Tani is like “dude? dont do that”, and Danny is like “that’s what Steve does every day, now you know how i feel”. only thing is, earlier in the episode everyone [yes Danny too] is clearly implying that Tani and Junior are in love and are going to the wedding as a romantic couple. so hes basically comparing this soon-to-be romantic couple to their partnership.

And then Danny is LITERALLY telling Tani to “have fun” with Junior while “she’s still young” cause now he’s “old” and it’s too late for him. implying he’s too old to start dating Steve, that it would be too much change. then later in the episode, Lou claims steve is “old” too. reminding us of the conversation Tani and Danny exchanged earlier. (we’re not gonna talk about how similar their name is)

PLUS earlier in the episode, Steve told Mary that “he doesn’t fight for love” the way he should. and then at the end, steve and danny just bicker cause they’re so clearly in love.

Also, during the wedding, someone mistakes Tani and Junior for a couple, and then Tani acts jealous when the girl wants to flirt with him. again, very mcdanno coded.

Anyway. those might not be the exact dialogues since im watching it in french but whatever. gay rights.

Mcdanno reunited

2 years after leaving Danny receives a phone call from Steve throwing his world into a spin once again. But it's Steve McGarrett, what else would he expect.

Chapter 1 - The Call

Danny Williams hated when people interrupted his sleep. Well the sleep that he did get, i mean after all that he has been through in his life there was no question to why he has sleepless nights. And tonight was not one of those nights. Tonight was a night where Charlie wasn't asking him to stay up playing games with him and Grace wasnt up late watching a tv show meaning he was able to go to sleep peacefully but then his god damn phone had to ring at 2 am. There wasnt many nights that Danny had been woken up to his phone in the middle of the night, not since Steve left.

After that Danny took some time off of Five 0, spend some time with the kids and get used to the fact that Steve wasnt there anymore, only returning about a year ago deciding that he wasnt going to be out in the field as much and let his team take the reigns. He was suprisinly content with the paperwork, maybe it was the fact that he knew that he was safe, that his kids didnt have to worry about him ending up in the hospital in life threating condition. He blamed it on his age, he wasnt getting older, but then there was a part of him that did think that maybe it was because he didnt have Steve around to make him do crazy things.

Danny groaned before turning around in his bed and grabbing his phone. He answers without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello" he grumbles whiping the sleep out of his eyes.

"Danno" a voice whispers. Danny stills. It couldnt be. A voice that he hadnt heared in 2 years. A voice that he heard every single day for 10 years. A voice that he longed to hear.

"Steve" he says back, sitting up fully. "Steve, hey are you alright" he asked concerned. He hears crying on the other side of the phone.

"Hey Steve, listen to me i need you to calm down okay. Tell me what the hell is going on" he pleads. His heart thumps against his chest, he felt like he couldnt breathe, the panic was too much.

"Oh Danno... i dont..." Steve starts before sobbing again. Danny gets out of his bed unable to sit anymore.

"Steve. Please what is going on. Where are you".

"Im at Cedars-Sinai" he whispers. Danny heart sinks.

"Your in a hospital" Danny asks paniced. This was good, being in a hospital was never a good thing.

"Why are you in the hospital, Steve. What happened to you," Danny couldnt handle this, Steve was in hospital, in California.

"Its not me that im here for" Steve says finally calming down a little bit. Danny felt himself finally breathe again. So Steve wasnt hurt, that was good but then that lef the question for why was he in a hospital.

"Why are you in a hospital then. Who do you know that's hurt" Danny questions more but then there is another voice on the phone.

"Mr McGarrett" a voice asks and then he can hear shuffling.

"Danny please come. I need you" is all that is said before the line goes dead.

"Steve" Danny asks into the phone but there is no reply. He moves the phone away from his ear and looking at the screen. He felt so many emotions, he was confused, scared, angry. What is it now that after 2 years that Steve decides to contact him.

Sitting down he puts his head in his hands and lets out a shaky breathe. Steve wants him to come to California. Steve needs him, but why now, its not like he needed Danny in the last 2 years. But Danny knew Steve better than anyone and he knew that Steve would never cry like that if something wasnt wrong. And God Danny hated that he was even considering getting on the next available flight to California but he was.

Grabbing his phone he looks up flights to California. God he was going to hate himself for this later. He books the flights and grabs a duffle bag from his closet putting as many clothes as he could into it, he didnt know how long he was going to be gone for.

Danny door opens slowly and Grace stands at the door rubbing her eyes. "Danno what are you doing" she asks him still processing the scene in front of her. Danny really didnt know how he was going to explain this to her. I mean its not every night that you wake up to your dad packing a bag frantically.

He sighs and stops for a second. "Im going to California" he tells her closing the closet door.

"California. Why are you going to California" she asks him confused. Danny steps in front of her and sighs.

"Steve is in California" he tells her and this really puts her mind into a spin.

"Steve. As in Uncle Steve is in California".

"Yes".

"Why are you going to see Steve. I mean i thought you werent speaking to him" she asks him and Danny sighs putting his hands to his hair.

"He rang. He's in hospital".

"Hospital" Grace asks frantically and Danny puts his hands on her shoulders calming her down.

"He's in hospital buts its not for him" he assures her and this leaves her more confused.

"What... what does that even mean," Danny groans.

"I dont even know honey. He wasnt saying much to me on the phone but something is wrong and i cant just leave him to figure it out on his own. He needs me" Danny explain closing his duffle bag.

"Danno" Grace says and Danny turns and looks at her.

"I know you love Uncle Steve" she starts. "And i know that you would do anything for him, but has it ever occured to you that he might walk out on you again if you let him back in" she asks him. Danny knew she was scared. She saw what he was like after Steve left. He wasnt the same Danno as he was. It was like light was taken out of him, the light that Steve had put into him and it was only now after 2 full years that he was finally starting to get back to normal.

Danny sighs before taking his daughter into his arms. "I know that your scared honey but i have to do this. I have to go to him" Danny explain and her grip around him gets tighter.

"I just dont want you to get hurt" she explains and Danny shakes his head.

"I won't. I won't let him hurt me again" Danny explains and Grace sighs.

"You can't guarentee that," Danny nods.

"I know. But i will do my best". Grace looks at her head and shakes her head.

"You know what, i am coming with you" she says turning on her heal and heading towards her room. Danny is stunned for a second before shaking his head.

"No you are not" he whisper yells at her as he follows into her room. She fishes out a bag from her closet and starts putting clothes into it like her father.

"Yes i am. If you are going to be around Steve again you need someone to keep you in check and there is no better person than me" Grace says firmly and Danny groans.

"Gracie i am a grown man i can handle myself" Danny tells her and she nods her head.

"I know but I hate seeing you hurt and im not going to allow you to be. So im coming" she says finally and Danny groans knowing that this was going nowhere.

"Who is meant to look after Charlie. I cant leave him on his own" Danny explains and Grace shrugs her shoulders.

"Getting junior and Tani to look after him. I mean Danno we have a big enough Ohana that there is bound to be someone who can look after him while we are gone". Danny knows that there is nothing that he can do to get her to stay so he decides to save his energy.

"Fine. I will call Tani and Junior, book your flight and as soon as they are here we are leaving" he tells her. She smiles at him and he turns walking out of the room. How is it that in the span of 10 minutes that Steve McGarrett can make his world go absolutly crazy.

After a quick converstation with Junior on the phone, Danny puts his and Graces bags down near the door before heading to Charlies room. Opening the door, he steps inside quietly walking towards Charlies bed and crouching down next to it.

"Hey, Charlie buddy can you wake up please" he asks shaking the boy slightly. The boy shuffles groaning.

"Dad" he asks confused as he turns his head to his father.

"Hey" Danny says quietly. "So I need to go away for a little bit" Danny explains and the younger boy looks at him confused.

"What do you mean. Where are you going" he asks and Danny gives him a small smile. "It's just a work thing. Im going to California".

"For how long?"

"I dont know but it shouldnt be too long. I'll be back before you know it".

"And is Gracie going too". Danny nods his head.

"Yeah she is. But uncle Junior and Aunt Tani are going to come and stay with you for tonight and then were are going to figure it all out okay" Danny explains. Charlie nods and reaches out and hugs his dad.

"You promise you wont be gone for to long right". Danny nods and hugs the boy tigher.

"Not to long. And hey" Danny pulls back. "I will bring you back something from California".

"Like an action figure" Charlie asks excitedly.

"Yeah an action figure if thats what you want okay" Danny says and Charlie beams excitedly. The door opens and Charlie and Danny look at Grace as she stands in the door.

"Tani and Junior are here" she explains and Danny nods before turning his head.

"We have to go now buddy but we will be back before you know it" he says hugging his son again and giving him a kiss on his forehead. "I love you".

"I love you too Danno". Danny pull back, standing up and walking towards the door. Grace walks towards Charlie, kneeling down and giving him a hug. Danny watches the scene from the door with a smile on his face.

The front door opens and Tani and Junior walking in looking at Danny as he stands in the doorway. Danny nods his head at them and walks over towards them.

"What is going on Danny" Tani asks him.

"Yeah why are you going to California" Junior asks. Danny sighs.

"I dont know much yet" Danny starts and Junior and Tani are even more confused.

"Steve is there" Danny states and this causes Tani and Junior to look at each other confused. It had been 2 years since anyone had heard from Steve. They didnt know why he had called after all of this time but they werent suprised that the first person he called was Danny.

"Why is he is California" Tani asks. Danny shrugs.

"I dont know. All i know is that he is in hospital. That he's not hurt but that he needs me," and that made it all make sense. Tani and Junior knew that Danny would drop everything for Steve in the blink of an eye, without thinking twice and they also knew that Steve would never admit that he needed someone unless he really needed them.

"Do you know anything more" Tani asks and Danny shakes his head.

"No but i know what hospital he is at and I will ring as soon as i know something," and that was enough for Tani and Junior.

Grace closes the door behind her and the 3 older adults all look at her. "I got Charlie back to sleep telling him that if he went back to sleep that you two would make him pancakes in the morning" she explains and Danny laughs at his daughters bargining. Tani and Junior shake their heads with a grin on their faces.

"Well looks like we are going to have to put our cooking skill to the test tomorrow if we are going to make pancakes. We are going to have to beat Danny" Junior says. Tani laughs as Danny has his mouth open wide in shock.

"Hey you two can not beat Danno alright. Its impossible" Danny exclaims and the other 3 laugh.

"We will see. We'll have to get Charlie verdict in the morning then" Tani says and Danny holds his finger out at the pair.

"I will hold you to that".

Grace laughs grabbing the bags. "Dad we really should get going" she explains and then they are brought back to reality. The reality of why they are all here in the first place. Danny looks at her and nods. A knott starts growing in his stomach.

"Okay" he says simply before opening the door. Grace walks out past him and to the car and Danny turns to Tani and Junior.

"We will text when we land and call when we know something" he explains and they nod. Danny nods and them before turning and walking towards the car. He get in the front as Grace had put the bags in the back and turn the car on. As he drives out of the driveway he looks in the mirror seeing Tani and Junior waving goodbye to them. And for the first time that night, it finally hits him that he is leaving to see Steve. He is going to see Steve.

I cough as I choke on my water at Tani’s words, “So did you fuck him yet?” She laughs and pats my back, “I’m just saying it’s bound to happen.” I wipe the water off of my chin before standing up from the couch and go to the kitchen. I sigh when Tani comes in and apologizes, “Look I’m sorry, I just know you’re really into him and you deserve to be happy.” I turn and force a smile, “Thanks Tani but you’ve done enough already.” It’s true, Tani is how I got the job at 5-0 two and a half months ago and how I met Steve. Not long after meeting Steve, three hours to be exact, he saved my life and I found myself falling for him. At first I thought it was a hero crush of sorts, ya know the thing when you form a crush on someone that saves your life? Yeah, no that wasn’t the case. Instead of going away the more time I spent with Steve the more my feelings for him grew, and Tani being the ever present pest friend that she is quickly noticed.

I hum as I prop open my office door before I sit down at my desk to finish some paperwork from the small case we closed a couple days ago. I tap my fingers as I look up and see Steve, Junior, and Eddie walk in. I laugh as I watch Eddie’s body wiggle when he barks and runs into my office. I push back from my desk as Eddie comes barreling into my lap. Steve walks into my office with crossed arms and a playful smile, “Eddie come on leave her alone.” Eddie looks at him and whines and grumbles before nuzzling his head on my lap for more ear scratches. I oblige Eddie and talk to him in a baby voice, “Aww, poor Eddie, is daddy being mean?” Eddie smiles and wags his tail and I shake his head before continuing with a fake pout, “Yes I know daddy’s no fun is he? Is he?”

I look up as Eddie happy barks before sitting at my feet. I look as Steve to see him staring at me with dark eyes. I blush under his gaze before clearing my throat as he says, “So, is that why Eddie likes you so much? You agree with him that I’m a buzzkill.” I go to say something and notice Danny standing in the hall listening in. I roll my eyes before continuing with what I was going to say, “What can I say Seal, it’s just in your nature.” He rolls his eyes trying to hide a smile, “Oh ha ha ha.” I smile before leaning back in my chair, “But that’s not the only reason Eddie loves me.” He walks closer to the desk with a raised eyebrow, “Care to share?” I chuckle and motion him to my side of the desk.

When he’s standing beside me he sighs out an airy laugh, “Oh this explains a lot. No wonder I have to compete with you for his affection.” I look under my desk and see the dog bed and squeaky toys I had bought for Eddie a day after working here and no doubt the reason he loves my office so much. I look at Steve with a smirk and pull out the bottom left draw of my desk to reveal a tennis ball, a stuffed cactus with a sombrero, a rope toy, two other squeaky toys, a seal and a duck, along with two clear plastic containers of two different dog treats. His mouth drops as he looks at Eddie, “Damn Eddie you have it made. How did you sweet talk your way into Y/N/N’s heart?”

I chuckle as I watch Eddie pull the squeaky seal out of the draw and sit with it in his mouth before squeaking it once. I laugh and Eddie lays down to play with it and I look at Steve, “The seal is a nod to his daddy.” He goes to say something but Lou calls us out of the office.

“Why does Y/N have to be my girlfriend?”

I bite the inside of my cheek and look down to hide the hurt from Steve’s words before Tani rather aggressively explains that the target, Mark, knew Tani was 5-0 and I was the only other option. Steve looks at Tani confused at her aggression before nodding, “Okay, I didn’t mean to pluck a nerve.” Tani rolled her eyes before grabbing my arm and dragging me out the door as she yells at Steve, “She’ll be ready at 6, don’t be late.”

Steve’s POV

I furrow my eyebrows as Tani grabs Y/N and all but drags her out the door. I turn around as Lou shakes his head and Danny pats my shoulder and says, “You’re an idiot,” before walking to his office. I look at Lou as he walks to his office. I throw my hands up and yell, “What did I miss!?”

Junior looks at me awkwardly before clearing his throat, “Um, no offense sir, but I think you should just ask her out already.” I furrow my brows before storming to Danny’s office, “What was that about?” He sighs and crosses his arms before motioning to the seat in front of his desk, “Take a seat.”

I narrow my eyes suspiciously and sit down as he smiles like he’s got the biggest secret known to man in his head. “She likes you…and you like her. That’s why Tani all but yelled at you.” I rub my face confused, “What the hell are you talking about?”

He rolls his eyes and groans, “Oh for the love of god Steven. It’s plain as day to everyone except you and Y/N. Ever since she started you get all happy and gushy when she’s around and she gets all flustered and blushy when you’re around…you guys are the ushy’s.” I give him a disgusted look, “The what!? Did you just call us the ushy’s!?” He shrugged, “You’re gushy she’s blushy therefore you are the ushy’s.”

I go to stand up and he jumps up with his hands out, “Okay, okay, okay, I’ll stop, but listen to me for once in our goddamn relationship!” I stop and sit back down, “Okay.” He rubs his hands together, “Okay, I’m being serious you need to ask her out before it’s too late, she won’t be around forever,” I furrow my eyebrows when Danny continues, “She’s pretty, smart, kind, funny, can take an armed man down with her bare hands, something you find very attractive, and most importantly she is into you….I’m still confused as to how that happened but I’ll figure that out later. So see I'm thinking you ask her out tonight.”

I lean back in my chair and sigh, “See that would all be well and dandy if I liked her.” His face turns into an are you serious look before rolling his eyes, “Oh yes yes that’s why when she called you daddy when talking to Eddie you looked like you were going to ravage her on her desk.” I shifted in my seat and cleared my throat to try and ignore Danny’s comment when he continues, “Ask her out and I’ll forget it.” I sigh before getting up and leaving Danny’s office as I hear him grumble about me being an idiot and losing the best thing that ever happened to me.

Y/N’s POV

I tap my foot as Tani drives toward some dress store, “I don’t get why we have to go shopping for a dress, I have some at home.” She glances at me and turns the radio off, “Y/N/N I have seen your closet, the closest thing you have to a formal dress is a pink and white summer dress. And that won’t work for tonight so, I’m going to pick out a dress that will have Steve drooling all over you.” I sigh and lean my head against the window, “Good luck with that.” She frowns and goes to say something but decides not to before turning the radio on muttering something that sounded like, “I can only deal with one stubborn jackass why did I have to get two?”

Time Skip

“Oh. My. God. Girl, you look so hot.” I blush from Tani’s words before I look in the mirror in my bedroom. I flatten the front of my dress, “I uh, I actually feel pretty.” She smiles and grabs my shoulders popping her head over my shoulder, “You’re dates here.” I roll my eyes before heading out of my apartment and down the stairs, almost dying from the fucking three and a half inch heels Tani shoved on my feet.

I open the door to step outside and felt my breath catch in my throat at the sight in front of me. Steve was in a suit which was hot enough but the bow tie just added something to it, it was almost…cute.

Steves POV

I glare as Danny fixes my bow tie, “You aren’t my mother Danny.” He flattens my bow tie and steps back with his hands on his hips, “Yes I’m aware but if you’re going to get the girl you can’t be running around with your bow tie all crooked.” I roll my eyes as I get in the car waiting for Danny to get in before heading to Y/N’s apartment. When we get there I text Tani and she says they’ll be down in a minute.

I stand by the car facing the door while Danny all but bounces in excitement at Y/N and I’s ‘date’. I roll my eyes and go to say something when the door opens and Tani rushes out followed by Y/N. “Holy shit.” Danny smacks my shoulder before whispering, “Still think she’s going to be single for long?” I shake my head without taking my eyes off of Y/N.

She walks up to me with a shy smile, “Hi.” I swallow and nod my head, “Hey.” I see Tani and Danny off to the side shaking their heads in disappointment. Danny comes over, “Alright in the car.” Y/N spins around popping her hip off to the side with her hand on her side, “I can tell you right now Williams, if you think I’m about to climb into the backseat of your Camaro you have a hard reality check coming your way. Get in the backseat.” He stares at her in disbelief as I smirk before he stutters, “But it’s my car.” She raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms, “Back. Seat.”

I bite back a laugh as Danny frowns and climbs into the back of his Camaro. Tani nudges my shoulder and I look at her and she takes me to the side as Y/N and Danny argue, “Listen Steve, I know you like her and I know she likes you whether you see it or not. But I’ll tell you she’s hiding it and she’s getting tired of it.” I look at her telling her to get to the point and she sighs, “Her neighbor plans on asking her out and he’s going to do it soon. So, make a move tonight or let her go.”

I grip the steering wheel as I drive to the gala after dropping Danny off with Grover to stake out the outside. I think about what Tani said and glance over at Y/N to see her looking at me already, “You okay?” I hum, “Yeah, yeah I’m fine.” She tilts her head in concern, damn it why does she have to be so adorable, “You sure? You can talk to me, I can tell something’s on your mind.” I bite my tongue as thoughts swirl around my head, “Yeah I’m good.” She frowns and nods before looking out the window still not believing me.

After about an hour of talking to Mark we get a confession to the murder of his ex partner and where he’s stashing the drugs, he just doesn’t know he gave us a confession. After he steps outside I get a text from Danny saying they have Mark in custody and to not forget to return his car tonight. I turn off my phone and slip it into my pocket before turning to Y/N who is staring at all the people dancing.

I turn off the one way comm before dropping it into my pocket and going up to Y/N. She looks up at me with a small smile and I hold out my hand, “May I have this dance?” She blushes and takes my hand with a nod. I smile as I lead her to the dance floor and start dancing, “I lied to you, back in the car.” She looks into my eyes, “What do you mean?” I sigh and pull her a little closer, “I was thinking about something,” she tilts her head while staring at me with her innocent doe eyes, “I was thinking about you.” She furrows her eyebrows in worry, “Did I do something?” I smile and shake my head, “No, I did something.”

“What did you do?”

“I developed feelings for you when I shouldn’t have,” her eyes give away her disappointment and I lift her chin up with my right hand that had previously been on her hip, “I never said I regretted it.” She looked up with wide eyes, “I know, Eddie would love to have a mom, and as far as dog moms go, I think you would be the best candidate. If you want to be that is?” She chuckles, “Commander, was that your botched up way of asking me out?”

I look at her and place my hand on my heart before putting it back on her hip, “Ouch, but maybe.” She smiles, “I would kiss you as an answer but I know thing one and thing two are watching us from the camera in the corner. So, yes I would love to go out with you and be Eddie’s mom, more so being Eddie’s mom but it’s a packaged deal.” I laugh and nod, “Fair enough.”

She lays her head on my shoulder before asking, “Now that we’re off duty, want to go back to my place drink some wine and talk about things that apparently need talked about?” I nod, “After the dance is over.”

I felt her smile into my shoulder as she hums out an okay.

Danny’s POV

I grab a drink from my water bottle in Tani’s car before looking back to see Steve turn his comm off. I smack Tani’s arm, “Yo I think he might be making a move.” Her head snaps over to the laptop displaying the video feed as we watch Steve hold out his hand and Y/N accepting before he leads her to the dance floor. I hear Tani gasp, “His hands, look at his hands!” I look at his hands and chuckle at how low they are before I snap back to their faces to see Y/N nod with a mischievous smirk before glancing into the camera and leaning in to whisper something to Steve. He throws his head back in a laugh and nods before he pulls her closer and they talk to each other as they sway back and forth. “Damn I wish I could read lips.” I look over at Tani and nod before she squeals, “Look, look, look! She put her head on his shoulder and he’s whispering to her! He is sooo flirting with her right now.” I nod, “You think he’ll ask her out.” Her eyes widen as she nods, “I’d say so.”

I glance at the laptop as Y/N grabs his hand and pulls him off the dance floor before grabbing the keys to my Camaro, “He literally looks like a lamb to slaughter.” Tani nods as she throws a chip in her mouth, “Most definitely, but she probably wants to talk to him and doesn’t want our prying eyes.” I nod in agreement as we watch them emerge from the doors and get into the car.

Y/N’s POV

After the song is over we leave the party and head to my apartment. When Steve parks he comes around and opens my door before helping my up the stairs. When we get into my apartment I head to the kitchen to grab to wine glasses and one of my bottles of red wine. “I hope wine is okay, I don’t have any beer, Tani and Junior polished it off the other night and I haven’t made it to the store.”

He chuckles as I sit beside him on the couch and pour the wine, “It’s fine, I know how fast those two go through beers.” I laugh as I set the wine on the coffee table and hand Steve his glass, “So, why? Why tonight?” Steve takes a sip from his glass as he shrugs, “I don’t know, it felt right.” I raised and eyebrow, “You’re lying.” He groans, “No not really, partially maybe but it really did feel like the right time. And then Tani told me that ass of a neighbor was going to ask you out.” I smirk, “Ah, Liam pushed you over the edge.” He tilts his head side to side, “Yeah, maybe.” I chuckle and set my almost empty glass on the coffee table beside of Steve’s.

Before I’m fully turned around Steve grabs my face and pulls me into a kiss. I moan and reach for him effectively knocking my wine glass over. Usually I would freak out over the spilled wine but I was more worried about the man in front of me.

I push myself up the couch to rest against the arm quickly being followed by Steve’s mouth and wandering hands. I moan at the warmth of his hand when it lands on my leg in between the slit of my dress. I go to sit up a little more and throw my elbow back knocking my lamp off the stand. I pull away from the kiss at the sound of the lamp shattering, “Damn it! Maybe we should move it to the bedroom before we break the TV.”

He laughs as he stands and pulls me up with him. I lead him to the bedroom and close the door before throwing my shoes into my closet. I turn around to see Steve had discarded his as well as his socks and his suit jacket and was now staring at me. I feel vulnerable and shy under his gaze, “What?” He steps forward and grabs my hands, “Just admiring the view.” I blush and step back to take my dress off.

I bite my lip as I realize I can’t reach the zipper, “Could you, uh, unzip my dress?” He nods and steps forward as I turn around. I shudder as his hand grazes my neck when he brushes my hair to the side. I feel his hot breath on my neck as I feel the zipper slowly get pulled down. When it’s unzipped he brushed the straps off my shoulders and meets my eyes through the mirror in front of us. He places a kiss on my neck as the dress drops to the floor. I wasn’t wearing a bra because of the dress I was wearing so I was left in a pair of black lace underwear.

My insecurities get the best of me and I cover my chest with my arms blocking his view of my boobs. He runs his nose up my neck before stopping by my ear, “Don’t be shy, you’re beautiful.” I shake my head and he sighs before grabbing my arms and pulling them down and behind my back and pins them between our bodies, “Leave them there.” I bite my lip and whimper while nodding my head.

When he’s sure my hands are going to stay there his right hand holds my thigh and his left rests on my abdomen. He kisses up and down my neck sucking lurid marks into my skin with every other kiss. He releases my skin from his mouth before he whispers in my ear, “Look in the mirror.” I do and meet his eyes and he continues, “What do you see?” I swallow, “Y-you and me.” He hums, “What else?” I furrow my eyebrows and whisper, “I-I don’t know.”

He kisses right under my ear, “You know what I see?” I shake my head and he smiles, “I see the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met and despite what she thinks could rival even the most attractive model, and guess what?” I turn my head slightly as my face and chest turn red and whisper, “What?” He rests his chin on my shoulder and looks into my eyes through the mirror, “She’s all mine.”

I let out a small moan as his left hand cups my breast. I see the small smirk on Steve’s face before throwing my head back on his shoulder as his hand tweaks my nipple. I turn around when he steps back and my hands are free.

My confidence has increased from his words and the smile on his face tells me that he knows it. I watch as him before walking towards him. I get in front of him and he stares at me with love and lust filled eyes. I smirk before looping my fingers in his belt loops and pulling him into my front. He lets out a small growl as his lust blown pupils stare into mine, “You have no idea what you just did.”

A shiver runs through me as I rub up against his front and whisper, “You see, I think I do know…daddy.”

I smirk as his eyes darken, “Oh you don’t think I missed that do you? I saw the way your eyes darkened when I referred to you as daddy to Eddie. I just didn’t realize why they darkened until I called you commander earlier and got the same reaction.”

He nods looking a little apprehensive and I wrap my arms around his waist, “I like it.” He smiled as I untucked his shirt, “Now, the big question to me is if you’re as good at sex as you look like you are?” I tug on his bow tie and throw it to the side before I squeak as I’m thrown onto the bed and Steve is quick to crawl onto me.

The Next Morning

I hum as kisses are placed up and down my neck and a hand runs up and down my thigh. I roll over and open my eyes to meet clear blue eyes and a happy smile. I smile before wrapping my hand around his waist and intwining out legs together before cuddling into his chest, “Morning.” He smiles, “Morning.”

I bite my lip as I wrap my right hand around the back of his head and pulling him into a kiss. I feel him chuckle into the kiss before turning into a moan as I run my foot up his leg.

Minutes later I’m flipped over with Steve balls deep in me. I run my nails down his back with a moan of his name as he kisses up and down my neck. I whine as he nips my sweet spot and wrap my leg around his hips to give him a different angle, one that quickly has me screaming his name. Right as I’m at my peak my door is thrown open and I screech as Steve quickly covers us with a sheet and uses his body to shield me before turning his head and growling out at the intruders, “What the hell!? Get out!”

Danny’s POV

I sip on a cup of coffee and look out the window before grabbing my phone in worry. Steve was supposed to drop my car off and pick up his truck last night but my car is missing and his truck is still here.

I check my phone to see no new messages or missed calls. I try and call Steve’s phone but it goes straight to voicemail before I try Y/N’s phone and frown when I get the same results. I go to my last hope and call Tani, “Tani! Have you heard from Steve or Y/N!?”

“No, why?”

“Because, Steve hasn’t came for his truck yet and my car is still missing. Oh yeah and their phones are going straight to voicemail so that’s a bit worrisome.” I hear something clink, probably a cup onto a surface of some kind, before she answers, “No I haven’t heard anything from them, I’ll be right over and we can go to Y/N/N’s and see if they made it home.” I quickly agree and hang up the phone before downing my coffee and waiting outside for Tani.

On the way to Y/N’s I look at Tani, “You think they just spent the night together, doing you know what?” She glances over with a thinky face before shrugging, “Highly doubtful, Y/N isn’t one to do that with someone, especially someone who isn’t her boyfriend. She’s iffy with that stuff.” I sigh and nod my head, “Yeah, that’s what I figured.”

When we get to Y/N’s Tani grabs her key for Y/N’s apartment but looks at me with a deep frown and worried eyes when the door knob turns, “She never leaves the door unlocked.” I nod but take in a gasp at the sight. Tani looks to see the broken lamp and I see her eyes fill with dread. When we walk further in she closes her eyes and sighs, “There’s spilt wine on the coffee table, Y/N would have lost her shit and cleaned it up while ranting about it.”

I go to say something when we hear something from the bedroom. Tani glances at me before slinking down the hallway with me close behind. She looks at me and with a nod the door is flung open and a screech is heard followed by a pissed off Steve yelling.

Tani look’s surprised at them before clearing her throat, “Well, this is unexpected.” I look at her and nod as I look back at Steve to see him ready to rip us to pieces but I see Y/N’s hand curl around his bicep and he tilts his head down towards her. I see him nod slightly before turning his head again, “Living room, we’ll be out in a minute.”

Tani and I look at each other terrified before nodding frantically and all but running out the door before Tani loops back to slam the door shut after Steve’s voice yells, “Door!”

We stand in the living room and she looks at me, “I would have never guessed. I’m happy but this is very much unlike Y/N.” I shrug and she continues, “Although she’s been pining over Steve for months so she’s probably so worked up she figured it wouldn’t screw with her system.” Tani and I gag at the image that ran through our minds but stops when we hear the bedroom door open.

Y/N’s POV

Once Danny and Tani leave I squirm under Steve as his finger hasn’t stopped circling my clit, which is why I didn’t talk loud, that and the fact my voice is very hoarse. He smirks down at me as my nails dig into the back of his neck begging him for release. He nods and slams into my once sending me over the edge with a muffled moan thanks to Steve’s hand.

We get out of bed and I pout, “But you didn’t cum.” He chuckles and pulls me in by the hips, “It’s okay we can fix that later.”

I prance around the room to grab a new pair of underwear since mine are laying ripped in two on my floor and then swoop Steve’s shirt from the floor. He throws me a look as I button the buttons, “What?” He shakes his head as he pulls on his dress pants, “Nothing, just trying to figure out what I did to deserve you.” I giggle and stand by the door waiting for him. As I follow him down the hall my eyes widen at the marks on his back and the new ones on the back of his neck. When we get to the living room Tani and Danny are standing there wide eyed and terrified. I stand beside Steve and yawn as he glares, “Care to explain why you interrupted our morning.” Danny snorts, “Well it’s not like you were sleeping.” I blush and shift closer to Steve from embarrassment which causes him to be more agitated. Tani and Danny quickly realize what happened and if they embarrass me more Steve may kill them.

Danny stands up straight remembering Steve is his partner and he knew him best so he knew when to lay off, “Well for starters my car was not in my driveway and your truck was and then your phones, both of you, went straight to voicemail, and then the door was open, lamp was broken, wine was spilt, and then we heard a noise in the bedroom.”

I nod before my eyes widen. I run to the kitchen to see my phone on the counter. I grab it and sure enough it’s dead. I groan and grab my charger and plug it in while tapping my foot. Danny and Steve look confused and Tani explains, “Her parents call her every morning and if she doesn’t answer and she calls them back they drill her asking where she was, and Y/N cannot lie to them for some reason without feeling extremely guilty and crying until she calls them back and tells them the truth.”

Steve’s POV

I smile not surprised but worried as she taps her foot and bites her nail. I walk over and wrap my hands around her waist and whisper, “Its okay, just relax.”

She relaxes into me and nods but stiffens when Tani speaks, “I think I’m gonna go.” Danny nods, “Yeah same here.” I pull away from Y/N/N and grab Danny’s keys of the coffee table and throw them to him, “There leave us alone, I’ll get my truck at some point.” He nods before shuffling out the door followed by Tani.

When they’re out the door I go over and lock it before going back to Y/N. She is putting in her password and she whines, “Noo, I missed their calll.” I chuckle as she plops down on the couch, “Just tell them your phone died last night.” She nods, “Yeah, yeah that’s a good idea.” She jumps up and kisses me before sitting back down to text her parents, “Thank you babe.” I blush at the pet name but respond and sit beside her. I look at her phone and bite my lip to hold back a laugh at the whine that leaves her lips from the text which read, ‘Well if it died last night why didn’t you charge it? Are you okay? Are you sick? Did you get shot? Should I be worried? You know what I’m FaceTiming you through your laptop thing.’ She turns into my side, “This isn’t going to go well.”

She jumps up and returns holding out my white t-shirt I wore under my dress shirt before setting up her laptop on the coffee table, “Do you want me to stay or go?” She looks at me, “Stay, they’ll find out eventually and I really can’t lie to them so you’ll help explain everything.” I nod and get up to get a drink, “You want a drink.” She smiles at me with a happy and content smile, “Yeah, thank you.”

As I get the water I hear Y/N answer the call from her parents before her mother starts bombarding her with questions before she cuts her off, “Ma, I’m fine. I just forgot to charge it.” I smile as I grab her water and head back out to the living room. I round the coffee table and sit beside her before handing her her water. She takes it with a smile before groaning at her moms words, “Ohhhh is that a boy!? Did my beautiful daughter finally land a hunk?”

Y/N’s POV

I blush from embarrassment before rubbing my nose, “Mom,” I’m interrupted by my dad, “What did you say!? She got a boyfriend!? Lemme see him!” I whimper and throw my head back as Steve chuckles. I look at him and growl, “Shut up.” He smiles, “What? You’re adorable when you’re mad or annoyed. Why do you think I annoy you so much?” I look at him with my mouth open, “That’s why you always screw up my desk or take Eddie mid scratching session!?” He nods and I cross my arms before my mom speaks up, “Oh my, I like him already.” I grumble, “Yeah well I did.” He shoots me a glare, “Ha ha jokes on you I leave Eddie goes too.” I giggle at our banter, “Well on second thought you can stick around.”

I look back at my laptop to see my parents with huge grins before my dad speaks, “Come on now we haven’t got all day, show us the boy.” I roll my eyes but grab Steve’s arm and pull him into frame until he’s practically leaning on me. I slap his arm, “Get off of me you big oaf, you’re too muscly for my small body.” He chuckles and sits up, “Hey I was just leaning over the way you guided me. Not my fault you would be a horrible guide. That reminds me, can you watch Eddie tomorrow, Juniors going out of town and I have a meeting with the governor which could take God knows how long?”

I smile and nod frantically, “I would love to watch my boy.” He raises and eyebrow, “No more than three treats.” I slump down into the couch, “No need to be a buzzkill Steven.”

At the reveal of his name my mom perks up, “Did you just say Steven? Like as in your boss Steve?” I nod and she claps her hand, “You weren’t lying he is cute!” I shrink and blush under Steve’s gaze, “Oh so you talk about me? I’m flattered.” I punch his arm and shake my hand while he just looks at me amused, “Curse you and your titanium muscles.”

I look back while my dad scans Steve, “You in the military son?” At this Steve sits up straight, “I was, I was in the Navy.” My dad purses his lips and nods, “Thought so, you have that look.” I smile and look at Steve with a proud girlfriend look, “Tell them what you did in the Navy.” He chuckles and pinches my side causing me to screech and then laugh, “I was a SEAL.”

Dad smiles and look at mom, “You hear that honey, he was a SEAL. One of the more tedious branches to get in let alone survive in.” Steve nods and I squeeze his hand knowing he’s thinking about all of the fallen soldiers he fought along side of.

“You have my respect young man, and my permission to see my daughter.” I look at dad wide eyed, he has never once condoned one of my relationships let alone respected the man I dated. Steve smiles and nods, “Thank you sir.” Dad waves his hand, “Enough with the formalities just call me Michael.”

After another thirty minutes we got off of the call with my parents telling me they’re planning on visiting in a month. I close my laptop and turn to Steve before straddling his lap, “Woah, there princess, what are you doing?” I smirk before sliding to the ground, “Finishing what we started.”
