Australian artist Tanya Schultz works as Pip & Pop to create immersive installations and artworks from an eclectic range of materials including sugar, glitter, candy, plastic flowers, everyday craft materials and all sorts of objects she finds on her travels.
Her practice embodies both independent and collaborative processes across varying disciplines including installation, painting, wall-works and sculpture.
Often ephemeral, her meticulously constructed and highly detailed works embrace notions of abundance, utopian dreams and fleeting pleasure. She is fascinated with ideas of paradise and wish-fulfillment described in folk tales, mythologies and cinema.
Pip & Pop began as a collaboration with fellow artist Nicole Andrijevic in 2007. After four years Nicole left the partnership to pursue a different career. Tanya now works solo and with other friends and artists creating projects in many parts of the world.
Tanya has exhibited her work in Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Germany, Netherlands, Mexico, the UAE and the UK.

WEEK 2 26/Feb - 1/Mar/2024
Artist Research
This week was about artist researching, discovering more about my own interest, and how they relate to my practice.
(TOO PERSONAL) I listed out everything that I love, ideas that are honest and genuine to myself. I also listed out things that is simple, things around me and my emotions. - I think these helped me in building a third perspective looking back what build me as a character.
I was researching for artists that incorporated mix media in their artworks/installation and I was attracted to this particular artwork “Leap of Faith”by Andrea Borsuk. I like the composition, the way Borsuk arranges the elements (surreal paintings, found objects, mural) that adds up the meaning to the concept of her artwork. I would like to explore this type of installation in my idea.
Other than that, I was also looking at artworks that engage the audiences with built surreal, dreamy environment/spaces. I found this artwork “When Flowers Dream” by Tanya Schultz. It caught my attention because of the dreamy colors and organic shapes that reminded me one of my artworks I did for assignment. I was inspired by the colours that she uses - they connect the audiences to another world.
