Telescopes — Halo Moon (Tapete)

This 17th Telescopes album pushes blues melodies down into a thick layer of fuzz, riding denatured Suicide-style electric beats in slow motion over eerie, fog-bound landscapes. Guitars dissolve into feedback-y dissonance, while Telescope’s main artistic force, Stephen Lawrie, murmurs brief, elliptical phrases. The songs run at a glacial pace, the rhythms unsyncopated and unadorned. One…. two…. one… two, the beat drags its feet through jell-o but persists nonetheless.

It begins with dirge-like “Shake It All Out,” the murkiest, most funereal “get up and dance” song ever. “Shake it all out, baby, shake it all out, now,” keens Lawrie, over and over, like a ghost moaning, as somnolent clouds of dissonance and feedback envelop him.

A trace of uplift, of old-time reassurance, sometimes animates these cavernous songs, like stray sun rays piercing a damp, echoing well. “Come Tomorrow” curves tentatively upward in its repeated guitar lick, taking on the grace and shape of an old spiritual hymn, as Lawrie croons, “No more weeping, no more sorrow, come tomorrow, we’ll rise again.” “For the River Man,” sparkles sporadically with twinkling keyboards, a trebly sound breaking into the distant howl of the blues. But “This Train Rolls On” hammers on like a Swans song turned down to barely audible volume, its violence present but tamped to a whisper. It repeats, it murmurs, it suffers the blows of metallic percussion. The train certainly isn’t rolling very fast.

Not to say that Halo Moon doesn’t have its own specific beauty. It’s a languorous, barely moving, fever dream of sustained organ tones and ritual chants, but it creates its own world if you let it. Listen on headphones, all the way through, and watch the busy world around you shrink back, as you reset yourself to Lawrie’s time and hope for and dread the ending.

Estava conversando com uma amiga sobre TWST (ela não joga o jogo, embora ouviu falar de outra amiga), e ela me perguntou sobre uma partida que você é obrigado a perder no início do jogo.

Eu pensei em duas batalhas:

Com o Cater, em que ele te expulsa de Heartstabyul

O não confirmado Overblot de Grim que enfrentamos no começo do jogo.

Ela sabe que Grim é um monstro, então me perguntou:

"Mas não são só humanos que entram em overblot?"

Eu disse que não, pois no jogo, Leona é um homem-fera, Azul é um tritão e Malleus é um fae. E todos eles entraram em overblot.

Também disse que o estado de overblot ocorre quando alguém que possui magia a usa muito e fica com sentimentos negativos acumulados, este alguém pode entrar em overblot.

Então ela me fez uma pergunta que me bugou totalmente...

"Então o tapete pode entrar em overblot?"

Ela se referiu ao tapete mágico de Kalim, que pelo que podemos analisar em Alladin, o tapete tem sentimentos e pode ficar feliz, triste, com raiva, etc.

E ele também tem magia, por mais que não possa usar com tanta abrangência.

Não consegui dar uma resposta para minha amiga e fiquei com uma dúvida na cabeça que não daria para simplesmente dar um Google e achar a resposta.

Alguém tem alguma teoria se ele pode ou não entra em overblot?

Eu chutaria que não, mas ainda existe aquele talvez no fundo da minha mente.
