Card of the Year for 2019: Knave of Swords.
This Tarot card is what I plan to focus on for the year. I feel like this is distinctly positive and allows for many opportunities while also issuing some dutiful warnings.
The two stones are amazonite and a double terminated quartz crystal. The decks that the card hail from, in order from left to right, are: The Fountain Tarot, The Lumina Tarot, The Musterberg Tarot, and The Vice Versa Tarot.
Happy New Year everyone and please, let 2019 be better than we hope.

Today's cards remind me of the story of Charon, the ancient ferryman to the dead, and Menippus. Menippus was a satirical creation of the Roman playwright Lucian-a trickster who took delight in his numerous adventures conversing with, as well as mocking the Gods. In this story, Menippus has decided to travel to the underworld. In order to gain easy and unquestioned access he has disguised himself as Hercules. He waits at the edge of the river Styx with three recently deceased subjects: a philosopher, a wrestler and a king. All of which await Charon's arrival to carry them across. However when Charon appears, he immediately spots a problem: there will be too much weight for his rickety old boat to support, so he instructs them all to disrobe and part with any remaining possessions. Unfortunately this does little to assuage the issue, and it is clear that his cargo is still too heavy, so he turns to the philosopher (who is now sobbing) and insists he remove his conceit and hypocrisy. To the wrestler he demands he strip off his strength and ferocity, and the King his grand notions of supremacy and immortality. Only Menippus (as Hercules) is able to travel without rebuke. As the story ends, Menippus and three skeletons are seen boarding Charon's boat, bound for the underworld. This parable shows us that in order to "die" we must also remove the spiritual dead weight which no longer serves us. And here Death, (who encourages us to transcend our attachments) as Charon, in the Tarot of Musterberg couldn't be more perfect. Judgement depicts the philosopher, wrestler and king freed from their material shells. And lastly the Queen of Coins (my significator) parts with a piece her of security, her own personal offering to Charon. On one level the cards (in tandem with Lucian's satirical sketch) are important reminders that we are often pushed to discard our spiritual baggage in order to make room for profound awakenings about ourselves and the world around us. And on a more mundane level, I was presented with a opportunity today to remove a toxic nugget of self-righteousness. It wasn't painless, but I have to admit I feel about a thousand times lighter.

A few days ago @eric_k_lerner posted the quote that inspired his XXI World card from the Radiant Spleen tarot, I didn’t have time to immediately read so I saved it. As ever synchronicity wasn’t far way when I also came across this month’s tarot challenge by @aceofquills Day1: What is the strongest belief I hold about the world? I pulled out the XXI World from the Radiant Spleen but felt the need to work with my new Musterberg Tarot so I opted to use both! The 0 Fool and the IX Hermit represent two approaches of experiencing the world. The first is unfettered, direct physical experience (extrovert) and the second is contemplative connection with the felt sense (introvert). Both seek the same transcendence through fully knowing the world. They are like two sides of the same coin. Both have abandoned the their inherited social and cultural spheres, leaving behind assumptions and beliefs. They are ready to take on all risks, sacrifice security and material comfort. Each will need to sustain scratches and bruises, even life threatening events on the way. Only their paths differ. For the Fool it is rugged and steep and for the Hermit an arid crossing of a the desert. Both accept the inevitable changes and losses that pave their way in X Wheel of Fortune to go with the flow in XIV Temperance. Here is the final letting go of a sense of self to dissolve into the communal vessel of collective karma. In Buddhism XIV would relate to Bodhisattva consciousness, where personal transcendence cannot be conceived without that of all sentient beings, ALL that exists, the XXI World in its wholeness. #the4agreementschallenge #radiantspleentarot #tarotofmusterberg #tarotchallenge #tarotreaders #tarotnerds #tarotaddict #tarotcollection #tarotcollector #tarotcardreading #spiritualtarot

Day 3: Growth. And I just asked where the closest gym was! Just kidding-this is a tarot challenge, people. This Personal Growth Spread comes from @thecrackedamethyst on Tumblr, and I figured I'd try it out here. 1. Where am I now? #6ofswords 2. & 3. What is holding me back? #7ofcoins #6ofcups 4. What can help me Spiritually? #knightofcoins 5. What can help me physically? #4ofcoins 6. & 7. Two possible paths to take #thedevil (the creature) #thetower 8. Outcome of number one: #thehermit 9. Outcome of the path you're currently on: #theworld 10. Outcome of path number two: #9ofcoins Lots to chew on here. As a side note, in the Tarot of Musterberg the Devil is called "The Creature" which is what I used to call my little Sister when we were little 😂I like the rename here though-it takes the tooth out of this card a bit. Who's else is spending their Friday journaling? @thetruthinstory @aitzieolaechea @inthe78cards #tgif #tarotofmusterberg #marchofthepips #tarot #tarotchallenge #tarotrradersofinstagram #pipdecks #marseilletarot
